View Full Version : Saving as .GIF
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 05-01-2003, 02:12 AM Ok well, I finally figured out how to make animated things in Adobe PhotoShop/Image Ready.. but in order for it to be animated, it needs to be saved as a GIF file. Thing is, it wont let me save it as GIF!! Itll only let me save it as a HTML and PNG. Why wont it give me the option to save it as GIF? Am I doing something wrong? *explodes*
Krystal Lake 05-01-2003, 10:24 AM Bumping this thread because I would like to know, too. It only lets me save it as a .PSF, which outside of the photoshop program is completely useless.
I'd like to know how to do it inside the Photoshop 7.0/Image Ready program.
I've seen programs that will let you piece up all your .gif frames one by one. Only problem is these programs usually cost money. The free one I downloaded sucked. It wouldn't let me 'loop' the image infinitely.
Not that it's too big of a deal with another (better) program costing money. It's just that A) I already shelled out enough money for Photoshop 7.0 and B) I don't want to add another friggin' program to my computer.
Enough ranting.
Anyone got the answer on this?
Please.
BTW: Here's a link to the free program I tried. Maybe you'll have better luck with it than I did:

Krystal Lake 05-03-2003, 11:36 AM ^^ Bump.
No one knows?!?
Warm & Fuzzy 05-03-2003, 12:22 PM Try putting .GIF at the end of the file name.
For example, if you wanted to save the file, "ABC" name the file "ABC.GIF" instead.
Isn't there a drop-down menu on PSP with an option of file types you can save as?

yeah there is. its right under where you type your file name.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 05-03-2003, 11:56 PM But there isnt. GIF is not an option! It is for PhotoShop, but not Image Ready-- which is the one with the animations. Figures, I finally figure out how to do it.. and the damn thing wont work!!!:livid:

pandora_spocks 05-04-2003, 12:06 AM That's the only thing I can think of is that you're not really saving it as 'Save Optimized As'.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 05-04-2003, 12:10 AM o0o but I am!! But the image only isnt a GIF.. its PNG or something..

It does! :smash: MY question is- can I change the settings so that the Image Only is GIF?

Try going to Edit > Preferences > then to Optimization. Then when that comes up under 'Use' click Auto select GIF or Jpeg. If that doesn't work then I don't know what else to do.
