View Full Version : Old Obsessions
Brandon 04-27-2003, 01:25 AM Okay, all of our siggys and avatars show that we all have celebrity favorites (coughobsessionscough) and i was wonder, what are your old obsessions as in celebs and what not?
Mine? Well...
Avril Lavigne, Three's Company, Dark Shadows, Britney Spears
(All of the above are still okay to me, just not stuff that i love and obsess over)
pandora_spocks 04-27-2003, 01:35 AM Hmm..well when I first registered on this board I was known as MTMFan4Life so I was a big fan of Mary Tyler Moore. I'm not so much anymore, she's just ok.

Yeah, you ditched me! You used to be as big a Mary fan as me! :(
Anyway, my old obsessions were Joey Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Rider Strong. LOL that was back in my teenybopper phase. I'm much more grown up now. (If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you LOL!)

Sorry, but I don't know. My big Mary craze lasted longer than it should've because I became obsessed with her and then I forgot about Liz and before I could remember her she passed away so I never got to write to her. If I ever forget Liz again because of another obsession with Mary or something/someone else I may just have to shoot myself. It hurts too much to remember that I forgot about the most enchanting person in the world. I feel so bad about that. :( How could I ever forgive myself for doing that?

i was looking at old names thread, and you talked about having your name 'jlo forever' and said you loved her. that's an old obsession, right? or do u still obsess?
fr00ti 04-27-2003, 01:55 AM Hmm.. Nancy McKeon and The Facts Of Life.
Czas na Zywiec 04-27-2003, 02:05 AM Now that i think about it, I don't think I've had any. I likes 'Facts' but I was never obsessed with it. Not even close.
consentida 04-27-2003, 02:12 AM Really stupid obsessions I had in like 4th and 5th grade: Hanson, The Spice Girls, and Jewel (shes ok. but i never really like...i dunno.)
*I'm still a huge fan of all the following people. They've made me realize the good in me and I appreciate them for that.*
"Obsessions" that made a difference in my life:
Bette Midler- made me realize my dream of performing
Selena- made me realize who i was as a Hispanic in this world and that its important to know where you come from.
Donna Summer- when I was going thru a really rough time in my life, her music helped me get thru it all.
Shakira- observing her intelligence and her talent has helped me find some of my own ways to express my talents and intelligence.
Bonnie Bedelia- shes an extremely talented actress. and some day i hope to be a good one too.
Cher- She made me realize that being dark is okay. having dark hair, skin and eyes is just as beautiful and being pale. we're just beautiful in a different kind of way. and that being a girl and having a deep voice isnt so bad after all.
AnaheimPMWitch 04-27-2003, 03:05 AM Gosh I've had so many over the years I cant list them all off
some of them were Joey Lawrence , Will Friedle, the entire cast of Friends, Friends itself, Nicole Kidman, Terry Farrell (well the last two i'm still fans of) and many many more
Chocoholic 04-27-2003, 03:13 AM I used to be obsessed with 'Nsync, but now they just seem so juvenile.

yeah shes awesome i still like her
Kristina 04-27-2003, 05:17 AM Sitcom obsessions: The Facts of Life, I Love Lucy, and Leave it to Beaver. These all ended a long time ago, I still like the shows though especially Leave it to Beaver and Lucy (I watch them when they come on but I am no longer obsessed).
Other obsessions: Wizard of Oz. Geez that obsession was sick, I watched the movie everyday and got ALOT of merchandise of the movie at the WB Store. ummm that's all I can think of.

Hmm.. Nancy McKeon and The Facts Of Life.
Same here.
I NEVER thought I would EVER stop loving FOL, but I guess I just moved on...
ABlairican Pie 04-27-2003, 01:01 PM I'm not obsessed with Lisa or the Facts of Life, even though of course I am a huge fan and all...For me obsession means something addictive or irrational. I guess I'm not obsessed if there are things she says or does that I may not agree with (her latest journal entry is a good example), but an obsessed person would gobble it up as if it were straight gospel.
But there was one person I had a sort of obsession with 15 years ago, the Rev. Robert Schuller, head of the Hour of Power program and pastor of the Windex--er, Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA., just a short distance from Disneyland (go figure). I've been there, and it's okay. But I remember in 1986 I was into his ministry and his message of self-esteem and all that, so it was cool when I got to talk to him on a radio program. So later that fall I got to see him at Southcenter Mall in Seattle doing a book signing and I was so excited that I got to give him a hug and he was super nice and all, and he remembered my comments on the radio....
So fast forward to winter 1994, snowy day in January, he was doing an appearance at the same mall, and the line was huge, and when I got to go up and say hello and have him sign my book, I started to tell him about meeting him several years before and he just RUDELY said, "I DON'T HAVE TIME!!" And I just went away from that thinking, there goes HIS t.v. ministry donation check...  If anyone remembers, he was also involved in an air rage incident several years ago where he put his hands on a flight attendant in a confrontational manner.
Mr. Be-Happy Attitudes, my left armpit....:angryfire Sure, the guy was pressed for time, but he didn't have to act like such a snot about it...
Kay Scarpetta 04-27-2003, 01:30 PM Lisa Whelchel........ :barf:
I'm not obsessed with anything anymore. I over-read, but reading is more like a hobby to me.

I'm still wondering why Lisa gets a barfie-smilie, just grown out of that, or the whole churchy thingie has fried her synapses, or....??
Or is it because of stuff like I read this morning where she describes herself as "over-protective"? She has this thingie in her journal where she has like a Christian Censorship Grand Central...
Hey, Lisa, I love ya, sweetie, but:barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf:

Hmmmmm.....oh well. :p
Btw, the barfies above were more for these Christian sites that "clean up" movies and stuff. I wonder what these guys would do with Caligula, Blue Velvet, and Last Temptation...
Ravey 04-27-2003, 02:55 PM I feel ashamed to name some of the things I used to be obsessed with! :D let's see....goes back to when I was 2....I used to be obsessed with...
Barney
Chip 'N' Dale Rescue Rangers
Alvin and the Chipmunks
The BabySitters Club
Baby Spice
Sailor Moon
Britney Spears
Christina Aguilera
Boy Meets World
Suzanne Somers
Three's Company
Sarah Michelle Gellar
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
and probably a whole bunch of other things, but I'm over all of the above...
°Bubbly Blonde° 04-27-2003, 03:08 PM The Spice Girls
Kenan and Kel
All That
Three's Company
Mariah Carey
and others
Mr. Stefani 04-27-2003, 03:23 PM none..i still like the same things i've always liked.
Mossopp 04-27-2003, 05:18 PM My previous obsessions are too numerous (and too embarrassing) to mention. Usually they don't last too long - I think the longest one was about 8 months. I've been nuts about Julia Volkova for almost 5 months now so her time is fast running out!
(Just kidding Julia. I still love ya! :loveya: )
Georgia's on my Mind 04-27-2003, 05:35 PM I forget, i had way too many...
*PinkLady* 04-27-2003, 05:45 PM I Love Lucy
Kenan and Kel
Rider Strong
Chris Webber
The Monkees
Grease
Happy Days
Rocky and Bullwinkle
I still like everything listed above to a certain degree...except Chris Webber. I can't even stand the mention of his name anymore.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 04-27-2003, 07:20 PM I've been obsessed with so many things growing up, but a few years ago it was all about *//\\//SYNC. I like their music (especially NSA), but meangya I just wanna slap them around.
As for recent obsessions I am now over:
Chicago
John Mayer Yah.. that lasted about 2 days..
Christina Aguilera
Betty Boop, Wizard Of Oz
I get over things really fast, but sometimes I go back to them. Like Britney Spears, Lizzie McGuire and Conan O'Brien. I get really into it, get bored, then into it again.
The only thing Ill never get sick of is Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, and all my other shows. Im obsessed with TV in general basically.
dawsongirl 04-27-2003, 09:17 PM Hmmm....let's see how far back I can go with this.
Duck Tales (my first)
Kids Incorporated
Mickey Mouse Club
I Love Lucy
Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz
I Dream of Jeannie
The Monkees
Okay, I guess that's it.
Except for Richard, I go in and out of major interest with:
Powerpuff Girls
Adam-12
Route 66
Hogan's Heroes
Love 'em, but take breaks from 'em.

~*Hannah_Lee*~ 04-28-2003, 12:10 AM I was obsessed with Bill Daily and I Dream of Jeannie about a year ago. But that was probably my biggest obsession, well that and the Leonardo DiCaprio thing in the 4th grade. I don't usually get too obsessed about stuff though.
