Here it goes, Hope ya like.........


Louis, sits at the dinner table, and is angry. He thinks to himself "She was
supposed to be home by now. I had this dinner all prepared for her,and she
new about it. Why is she always doing this? Working so late, and forgetting
about me?" He looks at his watch, and it says ten o'clock. He picks up
his can of beer that he has already had to much of, and takes a drink, and
realizes there is no more, so he goes to the fridge, and get another one out,
and opens it up. He hears kate's car pull up, and her
her door slam. He says to himself after she walks into the
house. "Damn, job is all she think about!"
"Sorry,what did you say?" Kate greeted him with a smile
as she took her coat and holster off,and hang them on the coat tree
"Does it matter? It's not like you care!" Louis shouted.
"What is that supposed to mean? Why are you mad at me?"
Kate asked
Louis Looks at Kate angry and says, "Kate What the hell time do U
think it is?"
"it's 10:15" Kate looked down at her watch." Oh,Louis,I am
soo sorry,I forgot all about dinner!"
Louis didn't believe her. The only thing that she cared about
was her job, and getting to the top not matter what even if that meant
sleeping with other men. Louis was bitter, and jealious over Kate's job. In a
bitter voise he says, "Yeah, sure you did."
"Yes,I did, I'm sorry I just had a lot of paper work I
wanted to get done,and I lost track of time." She kissed him lightly on the
lips," Have you been drinking?" She asked when she smelt alcohol on his
breathe.
"Yes I was..It' not like you were home like you were supposed
to be. There is ONLY one kind of work that a women can do at NIGHT!" Louis
says in a drunk over upset voice.

" U know I can't talk to U when ur like this.
Your DRUNK, and u Know Damn well that I would NEVER do something like that" kate said as she started to walk out of the room.
"Come back here,I'm talking to you!" Louis yelled as he
grabbed Kate's arm and jerked her towards him.
"Ouch,let go of me!,that hurts!"
Kate pulls her arm away, as Louis Yells, "You weren't doing
work..You know as well as I do you were sleeping around with the boss. You
keep telling me how much u hate Haysbert, but maybe the truth is that you
can't get enough of him. Your shuch a slut!"

Kate is trying to stay calm, because there was no use in talking to Louis
when he was like this, but she was ticked as she yelled right Back "You son of a b*tch!,
YOU know as well as I do...I was NEVER the one doin the SLEEPing around you
Were!"
"What's that supposed to mean!?" Louis's voice kept
getting louder and louder.
"Oh come on! you know exactly what it means!" She wasn't suceeding at her
efforts of staying calm.
Louis takes a step towards kate, and she takes a step
backwards. His temper is well to the boilong point, but not higher. "If you
are trying to say I cheated on you when we are married...it's all YOUR FAULT! IF
you had been her more often then I wouldn't have had to get it else were! "
"Well, i kinda had to work as many hours as
possible,y'know it wasn't easy supporting myself and 2 kids on a cop's paycheck!!" Kate said as she took another step backwards.
"What's that supposed to mean!?" He took another step forward,almost pinning
her between him and the wall.
Kate: You d@mn well what it means! If you weren't laying on your lazy ass
daydreaming,you were out with the boys,partying. Spending MY hard earned
money!...And probably on hookers!"....
Kate didn't have time to blink before Louis slapped her so
hard she fell to the ground.
Kate Puts her hand on her face were Louis has just hit her. She
is shocked as she trys to get up. Louis realizes what he has just done. "Oh my god!
kate i am so sorry...I didn't mean to hit you. Let me help you up." He
reaches for her arm, and she pulls it away.
She pulls her arm away.." I can get up on my own. I believe you have done
enouh for one night" She gets up, and goes to her bed room, and shuts, and
locks the door.

Cd, looked at her watch..It was ten-thirty. She couldn't believe that she had agreed to go out on a date so late. She thought to herself, "but, at least it's just a few drinks with him, and then she could tell him that she had to get up real early in the moring because she had to go to work." She had just met the man a few weeks ago, and she was thinking that this was going to be their last date, because he wasn't really her type. His name was Jack. Cd was getting ready to go when her phone rang. She ran to the phone to get it. She hoped that it was Jack calling off the date. She picked up the phone. "Hello." She said.
"Hi, Cd, it's Nate."
"Nate?" Cd asked. "I thought that you were sleeping over at Lily's?"
"Umm....I was...I mean I am..." Nate was nervous. "I mean..Cd I have to talk to you."
Cd, Looked at a clock again, and she was already going to be late. "Nate are you okay?" Cd asked worriedley.
"Yeah, I am fine."
"Well, then can this wait until tomorrow then? Remember I have a date?"
Nate smiled, "With what's his name?"
Cd, getting annoyed, "Jack."
He did that just to annoy her, and they both knew it too. "Oh, yeah Jack. Cd..I am sorry, but no this can't wait until tomorrow. It's really important."
"Okay," Cd said. "How much further are you?"
Nate, said, "Not far at all. I will be right there. I will talk to you when I get there. Bye." He hung up before she got a chance to say anything else.
Cd hurd the dial tone. "Umm, bye too." Said as she hung up the phone. She was getting ready to pick it back up when her door bell rang.
Nate stood outside of Cd's apparment door. He had called her as soon as he had gotten to her place. He didn't want her to have time to call her date to tell him that she would be late. Cd opened the door.
"That was fast." Cd said. "Come in."
Nate walked in. "Well I told you that it wouldn't take long." He said with a smile.
"Yeah, maybe becasue you were standing right outside my door. You could have told me that." She said saractiley.
Nate was trying to sound senseer. He knew that he had to make his plan work. "I didn't tell you that? I am sorry. I thought that I had"
Cd could tell that something was up, but she just wasn't sure what. She knew that she would know soon though. "Umm..That's okay." CD shut the door, and they both walked into the living room. "So, what is it that was SO important, that couldn't wait until tomorrow?"
Nate, knew that the only to get the reaction that he wanted out of CD, was just to tell her. He wanted to see what she would say, and do. "Well, CD, when I went over to Lily's tonight she said that she has something very important that she wanted to talk to me about something that was so inportant that it would change our lives forever."
She cut him off, "Well, what is it that she wanted to talk to you about?" Cd almost looked happy. She thought to herself maybe she broke up with him. She couldn't figure out why that would make her so happy though. Then again she thought Nate is too good for Lily. He deserves much better.
"She asked me to marry her."
"She WHAT?!" Cd, asked suprised, yet angry at the same time. Wait calm down why are U acting like this. Why should I care if Nate get's married to Lily or not. She walked passed Nate hopeing that he couldn't tell that she was jelious. WAit...She thought. I am NOT jealous of Lily. Cover! she thought before Nate could see how she was really thinking. "Nate, I am confused isn't that a good thing? I mean the two of you have been dating for a long time now."
"Well see Cd I don't want to make the biggest mistake of my life, and I wanted to come here, and talk to you. See what you thought, and how you felt about Lily, and I getting married. I think that you just made it very clear how you feel." Nate Said with a very satified smile on his face.
She was still trying to cover. "What are you talking about Nate?"
"Oh come on CD admit it."
"Admit what!" Cd yelled.
"Cd, look at me." Nate said calmly. CD turned around trying not to show any feelings in her face at all. "Admit to me that you care for me, that you have feelings for me."
"Wh...wh...what?!" She couldn't believe what she was hearing out of him..she about laughed. "Are you crazy? I mean what? Was Lily back on drugs, and she accidently put them in your food?!?!"
"No, Cd" Nate laughed, he was enjoying this. "she wasn't taking any drugs, and she didn't put anything in my drink."
"Well then am I missing something? I know it's not april fools day!" She looked into Nate's eyes. He was looking right back into hers. It was as if he could see right into her. Into her most deepest thoughts to know how much she really did want him, but the fact that he was her parter at work would stop whatever feelings that she would have for him, because they weren't allowed to date each other as long as they were partners.
Nate turned serious. "Cd, no you aren't missing anything. Look..." he said," I am tired of pretending."
Cd, wanted to turn away, to run away, but she knew that if she did Nate would just follow her. No one had ever known her like he did. "Pretending What?" Cd asked.
"I am tired of pretending that neither one of us has feelings for the other." Nate said, hoping that she would be honest about how she felt.
Cd, started laughing. Nate was almost afraid of where this was going to go. She stop laughing. "You know Nate. I can't believe you. You have just left Lily's, who just aked you to marry her, and now your over here telling me that we have feelings for each other. As, for me I am dateing someone that could be someone that I could end up beeing realey serious about."
"Cd, your full of it. We both know that he isn't even your type. The two of you have nothing in comin." Nate wasn't falling for what Cd was saying.
"You think you know everything. Don't you?!" Cd, thought to herself well she would show him. "Well then tell me, if, he isn't even my type, then how come he is moving in with me?!"
"JACK, Moving in here with you?" He nearley laughed. "That's JACK SH*T! And we both know it!"
Cd, glared at him, "Oh, you enjoyed your little pun there didn't you Nate?!
With a mock bashful smile, that only Nate can do. He looks at CD. "Yep I sure did. So, uhh...tell me, if what you are saying is true, when is Jack moving in here?!
CD, knew that he had cought her in a lie, but she was willing to do anything to show him that she wasn't lieing. "You don't believe me? Well I tell you what. Why don't we go to the bar that he, and I are meeting at, and you can see for yourself." She was hopeing that he would take that as she was telling the truth. Cd walked for her do, and opened it up. "Are you coming?!
They both Knew that the both of them were plaing games, but Nate was about to put a stop to it. He walked over to the door, and he and he closed it. "Were not going anywere until we get the truth out in the open. Got it?"
"How dare you?! How dare you come in here demanding me tell you how I feel?! Huh? Is this worth us losing our jobs for it?!"
"CD, We can switch partners, we don't have to keep each other as partners." Nate sid
"Well did you ever stop to think that I don't want to switch partners. I happen to like things the way they are!" CD Yelled.
Nate said very calmley. "Well we can still be partners, but it would be in another way." The way Nate said it sounded more like a joke.
"YOU think this is some kinda JOKE don't YOU?! Cd yelled getting more upset. CD couldn't help it there was something inside her, that at this point the only thing that she wanted to do was grab Nate, and rip all his close off. It was all she could do to restrain herself. She thought to herself there was only one thing that she could do that would put her back in control of what was going on. She started walking for the door.
"Were are are you going?" He asked. He could tell that he was getting to her, and that's what he wanted.
"Oh, me?!?! I am not going anywere, you are!" as she got to the door, and put her hand on the door knob.
He walked over to the door, and he put in hand on top of Cd's. "I don't think you want me going anywere, but in your bed, or maybe you just want to tear off all my clothes right here as much at I would like to do the same to you."
She pushed Nate away, and opend the door. "Get out!! She yelled.
Nate knew that he wasn't getting anywhere talking, so he knew that he had to take action. He grabed her in an embrace, and started kissing her.
CD, just stood there limp for a second, and then she pulled away. "What the H*ll do you think you're doing?!" Before he had time to say anything Cd, didn't know what had come over her except something that she had wanted to do since the first time that she laid eyes on Nate. This time she started kissing him. She slammed the door shut with her leg. They stated tearing at each other clothes.

Next morning

Kate stood in her bathroom,trying to figure out how she was gonna hide her swollen,black and blue right cheek
She couldn't believe what had happend last night.
Sure Louis had a temper,and it was becoming worse as he began to drink more. That was something else she couldn't figure out...Why had he started drinking so much lately?
The more he drank the worse it became. He had been loosing his temper more, and more. Mostly when it came to her work, if she had to stay over, or go in on her day off. He wanted her to quite, and she wasn't going to do that. She hadn't worked this hard to get where she was just to quite. Louis kept saying stuff like she didn't need a job anymore, that he could support them. Kate guessed that it was his male ego that she was hurting, and by yelling, and screaming at her, and saying that she was sleeping
around was his way of getting back. She could handle all that, but for him to have hit her? She didn't expect that, but maybe she should have she thought, "all the signs where there, maybe if had I paid more attention maybe I would have seen this coming. Maybe this is my fault....I shouldn't have said what I did last night,that was cruel." She thought," WAIT just one minute here Kate McCafferty! You should know better, this in not your fault..No, matter how upset he got with you he never should have hit you!"
With a sigh,Kate bit her lip and put her makeup on as gently as she could. And by the time she was done,she had tears in her eyes it hurt so bad.
She went into their bedroom,put on her shoes,and went into the kitchen, to grab sumthin to eat on the way to work
She grabbed her keys and purse, and put the nutragrain bar she'd grabbed in her it. She went to torwards the family room to leave. Louis was passed out on the couch. Kate didn't want to wake him for fear of another arugment, so she snuck by him, and to the door. Just as she got to the door she heard a moan come out of Louis.."Kate is that U?" Louis asked. Not really sure of were he was . "Yeah,Louis.." Kate mumbled,as she put her coat on.
"Where ya goin?" Louis fumbled to his feet,and wabbled over to her.
"To work." She sighed,getting angry at how he wasn't showing any sign of remorse for what happened last night.
Louis started to kiss her goodbye,when he saw her swollen purple cheek," Oh my gawd, what the h*ll happened to you ?!" He asked.
Kate pushed his hand away when he started to touch it. " You fist happened to me!" She yelled,and stormed out before he could say anything.


Cd, opended her eyes, and rolled over to see what time it was. She had forgotten to set her alarm clock. She got up, and put her robe on. As she looked down at Nate. She got mad. If they had done it once that would have been one thing, but they started out on the floor, then went to the couch, and then they made it to the bedroom, and then ...well...to the bed. She thought to herself that Nate knew exactly what he was doing when he came over last night. That thought made Cd even more upset. She looked at a peacfully sleeping Nate. "Well." She thought "He isn't going to be sleeping for long." She yelled, "Nate wake-up!"
"Huh?" Nate said half alseep. "oh, Cd, good morning. Last night was great." He started streaching like he was right at home.
Cd just shock her head at him. "Nate we're late for work. I think you should just put on you clothes, and leave" She stated. "Oh and Nate....None of this happend." She said as a warning.
Nate was already fully awake. "Oh, come on Cd you know as well as I do that you wanted last night to happen as much as I did. If, you did then you would have kicked me out."
Her blood was boiling. "I did try to kick you out! You didn't leave!"
"Cd, we both know you, and once you put your mind to something then we both know that you aren't going to change it. In other words you didn't want me going anywhere,you wanted me, just as much as I wanted you."
"You know Nate, you are so full of yourself."
Nate smiled. He decided to take that as a compliment, knowing full well that it wasn't. "That isn't the first time that i have heard that."
Cd mumbled to herself. "That doesn't suprise me." Her cell phone rings. She goes to get it. "That's probably Cap wanting to know where we are." When she got to the phone she was out of breathe. "Hello." She said while she was trying to keep catch her breath. "ummm...No Jack...Ummm...I am fine..I just had to run to the phone that's all." Cd, Knew that as soon as she had hurd his voice that she had forgotten all about their date last night, and now she was looking for an excues that she could tell him. "Jack....I am so sorry about last night. I had a long day at work, and then when I got home, I just plopped down on the couch, and I fell alseep."
Nate knew that he was going to have fun with this. "You mean that you forgot all about him, because you were having wild,crazy,passionate...' fun' ." He winked, "..on the couch with another man."
Cd just gave him a worning look like he had better shut up. "Oh, I know jack I work to hard, but it is my job, and I love it."
"Yep, Jackey boy Cd loves her job so much more then you know , she would rather spend her whole evening with her partner then you...hmmm Lets see we started on the floor.."
Once again Cd gave him another look, but she was trying to ignore him. "No I am not at work yet I got up late. I was getting ready for work when you called...Yeah I know it's not like me to be late."
"...oh, and then we went to the couch...where Cd did this wonder thing with her...."
Cd had had enough. "SHUT UP! JUST SHUT UP! Huh? What? OH, NO not you Jack...I wa....was saying shooo fly shoo fly...You know I just can't stand flies. "
Nate started craking up. This was one side of Cd that he had never seen of her, and he was really enjoying it. CD took a book that she saw on her dresser, and threw it at Nate. "Ouch!" He yelled.
"That noise...ummm it must of been the people living across from me you know my walls are like sheets. You can hear right through them."
Nate said with another smile, "Well then they must have heard a lot more from us then they wanted to hear."
"Ummm...you know Jack I really have to go...Uh huh. Okay Talk to you later. Bye" Cd hung up the phone. "I can't believe you! You have five seconds to get your clothes. Then I will give you another twenty secounds to put them on, and get the h*ll out of here."
"Cd, I really think that we should talk about where we are going to go from here." Nate said.
"Oh, that's easy." Cd said as she walked out of the bed room for a second. "This isn't going anywere, because that was the first, and last time that that is going to happen." Cd walked back into the room holding a trash bag. She sees that Nate hasn't gotten up to get his clothes, and started getting dress, and it has been a little longer then five seconds.
"Cd that's not fare." He was trying to find the right words, but he didn't quite know what they were. "Cd I know this is going to sound a little fast, but what I have to say is very important." Cd was taking all of Nate clothes, and putting them in the trash bag. "I care about you.....I love you. I know that may seem a little soon, but I have since the first time that I saw you "
Cd just looked at him while she picked up his pants, and put it in the trash bag. She was to angry to really hear the words that he was saying, and even if, she did hear them she thought he was just saying the words so that she would melt in his hands and say oh, Nate I love you too, and I have since i met you too, but she wasn't going to say that. She wasn't going to fall for those lines. "Nate you really think that I am gonna believe what you just said. What you think that I am just one of those women who would just believe your lies, and become putty in you hands." Nate was hurt by what Cd was saying. Cd went on to say, "Now get your trash bag and get out of here."
"No CD, I am not leaving until we talk this out."
"You have one more chance to get your clothes." CD warned.
"I'm not going anywhere." Nate was holding his own ground.
"Fine." Cd said as she walked over to her window, and opended it up, and threw the trash bag full of his clothes out.
"OH, My God, CD I can't believe that you just did that. Now what am I suposed to do?"
Cd said, "I don't know, but you better hurry up, and figure it out, because the trash men will be coming any minute."Nate Went running for the door with the sheet around his body. Cd was following him. Nate opened the door to go. "Oh, Natiepoo..." Cd said.
Nate turned around to face her.
"That is my sheet." As she grabbed the sheet, and pulled it off Nate. She pushed him out the door, shut, and locked it.


Nate pulled into the parking lot of the division just as Kate did.
"At least I'm not late.."He thought with a sigh,pulling into a parking space.

Kate mumbled a few words that deserved a bleep,as she checked her make-up in the mirror on her sunvisor. There was just no hiding her bright purple and blue cheek.
"Ouw,god!" She exclaimed. The pain that shot through her ankle,as she stepped out of her car nearly caused her to fall. She had twisted her ankle or something when she fell the night before. "Louis,you son of a b*tch!" She thought. She gritted her teeth and did her best not to limp.

"Mornin,Cap" Nate greeted as they met up with eachother on the way to the division.
"Oh.,Good morning,Nate..." She was hoping that he wouldn't notice either her glowing cheek,or her ankle.
Nate did a double take,when he noticed her cheek,"Whoa,Cap are you okay?" He wasn't sure if he should've asked,when he saw her reaction.
"Oh,uh...yeah..i'm...i'm fine." She tried to postion her hair to hide it better.
"What happened?" He asked when he saw her grimace as they started up the steps to the building.
Kate stopped and leaned against the railing for support,"Oh,uh....." she searched for an explination,"Uh...had to break up a bar fight last night...things got kinda rough..."
"Oh...are you okay?..Maybe you should see a doctor.."
"No,I'm fine..it..it's nothin an ice pack won't help..." She took another painful step.
"Here,let me carry ya.." Nate put his arm around her waist and started to pick her up.
"Uh,no..thats okay...." She pushed his arm away.
"Are you sure? I don't mind."
"Yeah,I'm sure...thanks for the offer,though." She smiled as bestt she could,without hurting her cheek.
"Well,at least let me help you walk.."
"...Okay..thank you.."
"No prob.." Nate put his arm around her,and they started for the division.
When CD saw them walking down the hall with their arms around eachother,she was suprised at Kate,and even more pissed off at Nate. Nate, and Kate get to Kate's office door, and kate says, "thanks, I think that I can handle it form here." "Mornin.." Magda greeted Kate and Nate as they walked in together.
"Morning.." Nate replied.
"Whoa,Cap! What happened to you?" Raina asked,walking over to get a better look at her cheek. "That's one h*ll of a shiner."
The rest of Kate's face a turned a shade of red that went well with her purple cheek, "Oh,uh....Broke up a barfight last night...things got kinda rough.."
"Oh.." Raina nodded," Where was the fight?"
Oh," Kate says, " You probably haven't even heard of it." Kate is trying to think of a name fast.She is drawling a blank. "....Umm...it...it's called Calark's Pub."
"There wasn't any barfights there last night.." Jiny thought. " You mean the one over on Dean Street?" She asked.
"Yeah, that's the bar that I was at last night" Kate says.

Jinny nodded her head in responce,and looked back down at her work. " Why did she lie?" She asked herself. Kate seized this oppertunity,and limped to the sanctuary of her office.
"Cap,you should go see a doctor."
"I'm fine,Nate." She tried to smile at him, " Thanks for the help." With that she went into her office,and shut the door,before anyone else decided to give her the third degree.

"So,what you couldn't get the blonde, now you're going after the redhead?" CD whispered to Nate.
"Huh?" Nate whispered back,in confusion.
"I saw you and Cap...hanging all over eachother,y'know I really thought she had better taste in men then that."
"CD...are you jeaslous?" He flashed an almost devilish grin.
"Me jealous? You are the one who came over to my appartment last night,and deliberately kept me from my date." She pulled him to a more private corner of the room.
"Ah,but you were the one who basically attacked me,and ripped my clothes off."
"Had you never called me..and said that you needed to talk to me this never would have happened."Cd said.
"Excuses,excuses." Nate smiled.
"asswhole." she rolled her eyes.
"You're just mad because i'm right." He winked and went back to his desk.

Just as Kate sat down at her desk, Raina knocked on the door and let herself in.
"Louis is on the phone for ya." She smiled.
"I'm busy." Kate said,getting some files out of a drawer so she wouldn't be lieing.
Louis had already called Kate's cellphone twice on her way to work,and she didn't answer either time.
"Okay...what do you want me to tell him?" Raina looked at her captain questioningly. "must have had a fight." She thought.
"Whatever." Kate said without looking up at her.
"Okay." Raina said mostly to herself,as she left Kate's office,closing the door behind her.
"That was strange"
"What was strange?" Jinny asked.
"Cap told me to tell Louis that she's busy..."
"So...?"
"She's not busy."
"Oh...." Jinny nodded"...who's Louis?"
"Her daughter's father..Her boyfriend..whom she's been living with for like six months." Raina gave Jinny a look that said "Where the hell have you been?"
"Forgive me for not having an encyclipedic knowledge of our captain,I am one of those people who tend to mind their own business" Jinny gave Raina a look that said "Right here. you however have been up Cap's ass so long, you've probably forgotten what color your own hair is."
Raina couldn't think of good comeback,luckily she was saved by the bell...well,her ringing telephone.
"San Fransisco Police Department,Felony division, Inspector Washington speaking,how may I help you?...Yes,I say that everytime..."She laughed," I'm sorry you had to wait so long, Cap's really busy... ....She'll call you back when she gets a chance....okay,sorry....You have a nice day too,bye Louis." Raina hang up the phone just as Kate limped out of her office,with a stack of files. "Cases,everyone!" She announced,sitting on the corner of Jinny's desk.
"Oh Joy." Jinny said saracastically.
"Hey,be glad i'm not you putting on another dog case."
"you wouldn't be that mean.."
"Don't try me."
"So what do we got?"Magda asked.
" A homicide.." Kate feinded delight, " Male, late teens, early twenties,found in the alley behind Kent's bar & Grill,drunk on his ass....well,when he had one,that is." She held in her laughter.
"When he had one?" Magda questioned.
"Yep, he was shot in the ass about 6 times before he was put out of his misery."
"Cap,it's not funny." Magda scolded," A man is dead."
"I know, you're right,I'm sorry." She said.
"Not funny at all." Jinny added, as they snickered together. "Oh,c'mon Mag lighten up." She said when she saw the stern look her partner was giving her and her captain.
"Well,whatever he did,the lady apparently didn't like it that much." Nate commented..
"Haha,that was good!" Jinny gave him a thumbs-up.
"I can't believe you guys!" Magda crossed her arms.

"You're one to speak." Cd whispered to Nate.
"You seemed to enjoy yourself quite a bit....all three times last night." He whispered back.

"And for you and CD..." Kate turned her attention to them, " It seems like our cases today are all about passion. A man went home to find his wife with another man in bed, and somehow the wife ended up dead."
"Gawd,you're just on fire today woman!" Jinny cracked up.
"I did NOT mean for that to rhyme."
"Suuure,ya didn't" Jinny cackled.
"I swear." Kate laughed with her.

"This isn't funny guys! Captain I am suprised at you.."Magda scolded. "..we're talking about murder, and extra-marital affairs here..these things aren't funny."
"What you got something to hide,Mag?"Jinny raised her eyebrow.
"Yeah, The Doctor that did surgery on you when you got shot was pretty damn good lookin'." Kate tried to smile,and her cheek reminded her that it wasn't a good idea.
"Oh, you mean Joooonaaah" Jinny smiled from ear-to-ear.
"Jonah,huh? I like that name."
"Y'know they are pretty good friends now." Jinny nodded.
"Oh,I see." Kate winked at Magda.
"What does Jonah look like?" CD asked.
"Ya ever seen Gilmore Girls?." Kate asked. "He looks like Rory's dad on Gilmore Girls."
"Ooohhh,he is a hotty then!" Raina laughed.
"Y'know,I always feared the day those two started getting along,and now I know why." Magda said,pointing to Jinny & Kate.
"Oh,c'mon Mag,we're just kidding around." Jinny laughed.
"Is that all women ever kid about,hot guys and sex?" Nate jumped back into the conversation.
"Maaaaybe." Jinny and Kate said in unison.
"You're just jealous,because we're not talking about your sexyness." CD pinched his cheek.
"Yeah,well..." He smiled.

"Okay,get to work now." Kate quickley composed herself.
'"Ooohhh..." Jinny thought when she saw Charles Haysbert walk in, and realized that was the reason for her captain's sudden change of mood.

"Kate." Charles greated,dryly.
"Charles." She replied,and did her best not to limp back into her office.

"Are you okay?" Charles asked,once they were in her office with the door shut. " I uh...noticed your cheek....and that you're limping"
"Oh,uh...." Kate was rather embarrassed. And she didn't tknow if she should use the same excuse or not..." I..uh..broke up a barfight last nite....things got a little rough."
"Oh,I see..Have you seen a doctor?" Kate was relieved when he baught it.
"Oh,I'm fine,it's nothing an ice pack won't fix.."
"Go see a doctor..thats an order."
Kate sighed, "So what did you want to see me about?" Changing the subject was her way of excepting the order.

"So...,talked to Jackie poo,lately?" Nate asked,with a smirk.
CD gave him a long cold,hard stare, "Not since this morning."
"Gawd,this day is going...weird.."Raina thought,"..CD &Nate are acting very...secretive,and Cd seems very annoyed with him...Jinny & Cap were actually joking around with eachother..that was really weird...And Cap got hurt in a bar fight,and she must be mad at- -" She was brought out of her thought,when her phone started ringing.
"San Fransisco Police Department,Felony Division,Inspector Washington Speaking,How may I help you?...Yes,Ma'am it is a mouthfull."she laughed,"She's in a meeting right now. Can I take a message?...Okay,I will,you have a nice day." She hang up the phone. "And she must be mad at Louis.." She finished her train of thought just before the phone began to ring again,
"San Fransisco Police department,Felony division, Inspector Washington - -Oh,Hi "She laughed," She's in a meeting with D.C. Haysbert....Louis,...I don't wanna be a busy body,but it everything okay? i mean did you guys have a fight or sumthin?...Are you sure? Coz you know you can talk to me if anything is wrong...Okay...okay,I will, Bye."


"And ,Kate..Go to a doctor." He said one more time as he was leaving to make himself clear.
"Yeah okay." She rolled her eyes,and then forced herself to say," Have a nice day."


"um,...Cap can i see you in your office,please?" Cd asked once Haysbert was gone.
"Yeah,sure." She looked at Nate questiongly,as she got up and limped to her office.
"You need some help?" CD asked.
"No,I got it,thanks anyways."

"Whatcha need?" Kate sat in a chair across from her desk,it was closest,and the shorter the walk the better,she thought.
"If it's okay with them, can I trade my partner for Jinny or Magda?...just for this case....I think."CD sighed
"Why, what's the problem?"She looked at CD in confusion."I thought you and Nate were getting along."
"..Yeah, we do- -were...uh..we're having a disagreement at the moment...And there's just no way any work is gonna get done...If i have to work with him."
" Ok...well,it's fine with me,if it's fine with Mag & Jin." Kate sighed.
"Thanks, Cap." CD said.
"No problem." Kate started to smile and again was reminded by her cheek that it wasn't a good idea.
"Put some ice on that." CD stated as she left the office
"Hey,Jin..."CD said,shutting the door behind her," You wanna take a break from Magda?"
"Huh?" Jinny looked at her in confusion.
"Can I work your case with you?...Magda can work with Nate."
"Uh...yeah,sure...If Magda doesn't mind."
"Where is she?"
"I think she went to the locker room."
"K,I'm gonna go talk to her." Cd said, and headed for the Ladies' locker room.

"what was that about?" Raina asked rolling in her chair,over to Jinny's desk.
"I was just thinkin the same thing." She shrugged.

Kate sighed looking down at the caller-id on her ringing cell phone. "You're not gonna give up,till I answer are ya?" The caller-id said Louis Parillo on it. Kate counted as she wnet back over her calls, their phone number showed up 4 times in a row. She decided to see if he'd left any messages.

Message 1 :
C'mon,pleas answer.
What did you mean "my fist happened to you??"

Message 2:
Kate,c'mon,please answer the phone. What happened? What did you mean?

Message 3:
You don't mean that I....hit you? Do you?? Kate,please talk to me.

Message:
D@mn it,Kate! I just wanna know why you're mad at me!
Please answer the d@mn phone!

Kate sighed,shut off her phone,put it in her pocket,and tried to focus on her work.



"Well, looks like you and me are partners,on this case." Magda said,picking up the case file laying on Nate's desk,and looking through it.
"What?"
"Didn't CD talk to you? She asked me to trade partners with her."
"Oh,no she didn't." He said ,watching CD sit on the corner of Jinny's desk,and pick up their case file.
"Oh...well, uh...are you okay with it?."
"....yeah,thats...fine."
"You sure?"
"Yeah." He stood up from his desk," C'mon,I'll fill ya in on the case,on the way."
"Okay." Magda grabbed her jacket off her chair,and put it on. "Bye guys" She said following Nate out.

"So....why,did you wanna switch partners?" Jinny asked,as they walked from the scene of the crime,to their car.
"Uh...well...we just had a disagreement..that's all..."
"About what?"
"uh...political stuff."
Jinny stared at the blonde,as she unlocked the car,and got in,"So...why did you wanna switch partners?" She started the car,and pulled out onto the highway,"Well...?"
CD didn't say anything f,she couldn't decide if she should tell her or not. She thought it might make her feel better to tell someone, and who better to tell,then Jinny, nobody could keep a secret like Jinny could.
"Candace...did you sleep with your partner?" Jinny asked jokingly.
"Yes."
"Seriously?"
"Last night." CD nodded.
"Go Candy..."Jinny let go of the wheel,ad started waving her arms," Getcha some booty!...work it girl!"
"Will you shut up,and watch the road!" Cd said,grabbing the wheel.
"Sorry.." She laughed,and took over the wheel,again,"So..tell me what happened...why did you feel the need to switch partners?"
"well...." CD began her recount of the night before.

"I smell pizza." Jinny said as she and CD walked into the division.
"It's on Raina's desk,help yourself." Nate replied,taking a huge bite of his own slice.
"You don't gotta tell me twice." She grabbed a slice for herself,and handed one to her temporary partner.
"Where's Raina?" CD asked.
"She's having lunch, with an old friend...His name Sedrick, and he is cuuuuute!" Magda informed.
"Oooohhhh I see." CD laughed.
Jinny just rolled her eyes."Well,speak of the devil and her phone will ring." She said,walking over and answering the ringing phone on Raina's desk. "SFPD, Inspector Exstead speaking....Who's speaking?...okay,just a moment." She put the caller on hold,walked over to her captain's office ,and knocked on it. Unlike Raina,she waited for a reply before going in.
"What's up?" Kate asked.
"uh...Louis...,is on line 3 for you."
"Thanks." Kate sighed. She gave in,and answered.
"No prob." As Jinny walked out she heard Kate say," Yes Louis, that is exactly what happened...look,I don't want to talk to you right now. I am trying to work,stop calling."
"Ooookay,somebody is in the certainly doghouse." Jinny thought.

"Oh Crap..." Jinny thought to herself,grabbing a couple of papers off her desk,and heading back to Kate's office "Can't forget this."

Louis stood there with the phone in his hand, speechlees. How could he do this to Kate? Kate interupted his thoughts, "bye Louis."
Louis snapped out of it, and shouted , "no Wait!"
This nearly made Kate jump out of her skin because of the night before. "What?" she said upset, and annoyed that he wouldn't let it go.
He was still in shock that he would hit her, and he couldn't remember a damn thing. Louis wanted to know why. "Kate please tell me what happend?"
"I came home,you were drunk, you accused me of sleeping around,and then you hit me. There now you know,I gotta get back to work."
Louis felt bad, he still couldn't remember, but he also knew that Kate wouldn't lie. The best thing for him to do now he thought was to let her go, and calm down, he would think of a way later to say how sorry he was."Kate, I am really sorry...bye..."
Kate said a quick good bye, and hung up the phone. She sighed, and put hand to her head. She thought"This is going to be a longer day then I thought."
Jinny stood outside her captain's door, with her hand about to knock on the door when she had heard her cap with a loud voice say, "I came home,you were drunk, you accused me of sleeping around,and then you hit me. There now you know,I gotta get back to work." Jinny stood there in shock for a second, and then thought to herself that she knew that her captain had lied about last night and the bar fight. Jinny knocked on the door.
Kate sighed again, "What now..." she thought. Then she said "come in..." Kate looked up, and saw jinny coming through the door, and asked her, "Whatcha need?"
"uhhh..." Jinny looked down, and then back up at her captain, "Well I needed for you to sign this." Jinny handed her the paper.
"Is that it?" kate asked annoyed that Jinny was still standing there. Kate just wanted to be alone at the moment.
Jinny took a seat in one of the chairs across from Kate's desk...Kate just looked at her like what is she doing?
"No...it's not.." Jinny was suprised at herself that she was doing this. But she felt she needed to.
"..Okay...what else?"
"Uh..c...can I talk to you..about something personal?" Jinny chose her words very carefully.
"You wanna talk personal to ME?" Kate looked at Jinny rather suprised.
"Heh,...yeah.."She chuckled.
"Okay...shoot.."
There was silence in the room Jinny tried to plan out what she was going to say,quickley,"Okay,normally...you know me...I wouldn't but in..."She sighed," but,I'm just...really concerned..."
"About who?" Kate sat back in her chair.
"You..."
"m..me?"It wasn't that she wasn't grateful for Jinny's concern,becuase she was...she shocked too,But she just didn't want to talk about it.She didn't want anyone to know about it.
"...Cap..I was at Clark's bar last night...and there were no fights..."
"D..did I say Clark's?..I..I ment Kent's.."
"..and I overheard what you said..to...Louis..on the phone.." Jinny watched as her Captain just looked down at her lap,not saying anything. She wasn't sure what to say to Jinny.
"Cap..What's going on?"
"I really don't think it's any of your business" She snapped. She didn't like being put in this position. She felt like she was caught between a rock and a hard place. Between Embarrassment,and humiliation.
"Okay,fine! Y'know it's not often that my captain comes to work,with a huge black eye,and a twisted ankle,and lies about it,."Jinny said standing up,"So I can later learn that her boyfriend did it! So please,forgive me for be a little concerned!"
Kate looked at Jinny astonished,"..I'm sorry I snapped at you.." She sighed.,"Thank you for your concern, But i'm okay, Don't worry about me,i'm fine...really,...everything is okay..." There were a few too many 'fine's and 'ok's in Kate's statement for Jinny's comfort,but she went along with it,She'd already stepped on terf she didn't belong on,and she didn't want to push it,"...okay.."She sighed.
"Thank you,though...I...I really appreciate your concern..."
"Eh..."Jinny shrugged,"it seems like you are always looking out for me.."She tried to make it seem like less of a big deal.
"I'm glad you realize that,Jin."
Jinny nodded,flashing an awkward smile,"Well,I guess...I should get back to work..."
"Yeah,I think that's a good idea..."
"For his sake,everything had better really be fine."Jinny thought as she left her Captain's office.

"Who told you?" CD thought,that surely Jinny hadn't.When Jinny was told to keep a secret,it was as if she locked it away in a bank vault.

"Becuase I asked him why you guys are acting so weird...it took some coaxing ,but i got it out of him."Magda sounded rather proud.

"Hey..."Magda put her hands on her hips.
"Hey,Magda...I think we got somethin."Nate held up their case file as he walked up.

"Bye,CD."Nate winked,as he pinched her butt. "Ouch.."He rubbed his arm where CD punched him,and chuckled as he walked away.
Cd took a long collective sigh and looked down at her watch,"Three more hours,and and we're home free."She thought outloud.
"Yippee!.."Jinny said,walking over to CD. "Hey,come on,The witness is in interogation 1."
"Okay.."Cd's arms were firmly crossed in front of her,just as they always were,when she was not happy about something.
"I saw Nate grab your ass..." Jinny chuckled.
"Shut up,Jinny."Cd shook her head,as they walked through the division doors,on their way to the interogation room. Wich didn't shut Jinny up,it only made her laugh more.

AThree and a half hours later,Kate was sitting at her deck as if, her day couldn't get any worse. She thought,now she had to go back home to the man who had hit her last light, and she really wasn't looking faward to that. "He didn't mean it, but then again that is what most batared women have said"She thought.."No. I am not one of them..He would never hit me again"...once again Kate thought that is what all batared women say...One would think,that the extensive knowledge she had of this kind of thing,would help her...but it didn't,if anything,it made it worse...it certainly made her feel even more embarrassed about what had happened. At times Louis could be so sweet, and other times he was so controling, and bitter. He was never like that the first time they were married.

Jinny let out a sigh of relief,when she signed the paper,and laid it on top iof the rather large stack,she had already sighed. She gathered them up,and then put them in a file folder,and then in her file drawer,and locked it. She sat there looking around the now almost empty division. Raina,Magda,Cd and Nate had all already gone home for the night. Technically she had gotten off about thirty minutes earlier,but she wanted to get the paper work done that night,so she wouldn't have to fool with it the next day. She didn't really want to go home,because there was nothing to do there. Teddy was out of town at the moment. She looked into her Captain's office,and saw Kate sitting at her desk,not working,just sitting there. "Eh...why not.."Jinny thought to herself, and grabbed her jacket,as she got up.

"Enough thinking." Kate said to herself, "stop putting off going home.", and then it was as if on cue, there was a knock on Kate's door,Kate motioned for Jinny to come in. "Hey,uh...you...wanna grab a bite to eat before calling it a night?" Jinny shrugged.Kate didn't know what to think but it was her way of not going home yet. She never saw this side of Jinny the one that was look after her..it was kinda nice kate thought..Kate, asked, "Ya do realize you're asking me,don't cha?"
"Yes..."Jinny chuckled. "Are ya comin' or not?"
"Yeah,sure...thanks."Kate got up,and grabbed her coat and purse.
"Eh..actually I plan on getting you drunk, I'm really curious to see what you're like,after ya loosen up a bit...I might even video tape it." Jinny flashed an evil grin.
"Actually i had thought about downing a...whole bottle of Taquila.." She laughed,turning off her lamp,and walking out of her office.
"Ooo,you must really be able to handle your liquer,I can't wait to see this..."
"Well,keep dreaming,because i didn't say i was going to,I said I thought about it."
"D@mn...So close..."

Jinny and Kate had been at Anchorside for at least an hour now,things had been going pretty well. They chit chatted, it seemed that that they actually had more in common then anyone realized.

"And since i was the only women on the force,that wasn't married to the Luetinant, having an affair with the captain,and didn't closely resemble Dave Starsky...from Starsky and Hutch...I always ended up undercover as the prostitute,or a cage dancer.....once i came horribly close to actually having to strip." Kate finished off another beer.
"Oh my god!...I am having a very hard time picturing that"
Jinny was enjoying all the stories of what the division was like in the 'old days'.
"Everybody says that."
"Okay,so...wich one was having the affair with the captain?"
"Dave Starsky...and the Luetinant's wife."
"Oh gawd,thats funny.."
"Yep..and the luetinant was havng an affair with Dave Starsky...She was the daughter of the Chief..."
"Ooohhh....gawd,this place was like a soap opera back then."
"Jinny,it still is...trust me."
"Can I get you anything else?" The waiter asked,as he picked up their empty plates.
"Yeah,another beer,please."Kate smiled at the waiter.
"Sure thing." Said,and then l;ooked to Jinny.
"Nah,I'm fine thanks."Jinny waited till the waiter was gone before she said anything to Cap . "Umm...Cap..are you sure you really want another one?"
"Yes, I am..." Kate nodded.
"Ok...but,that's like your sixth..." It looked like Jinny might get to see her captain a little less then sober after all.
"You're the only one counting..."


"What? Why?" CD asked. She'd planned to tell Jack,that she couldn't see him anymore,but the tables had turned and now that was what he was telling her.And She didn't like being on this side of the table. "Oh,now that belongs in the 'Lame Exscuse Hall Of Fame'!.....no,no..I'm not hurt that you don't want to see me anymore,I had planned to tell you the same thing...what pisses me off is that you don't have a better exscuse!.....Y'know what I have better things to do then listen to this crap! I'm gonna go watch TV...Goodbye..."She it took her a coule of tries to turn the phone off,she was so mad.When she finally suceeded she tossed the phone to the other side of the couch,and put the tv on the USA channel, wich was currently showing 'JAG'.

"What time is it?" Kate asked.
"Ten till Ten."Jinny said looking down at her watch.
"Oh...well, I guess I better get going..."She said standing up.
"I'll drive ya..."Jinny watched her Tipsy captain sway slightly,as she put on her coat.
"Nah,I'm ok.."Kate picked up her purse."Thanks for dinner"She said. She bumped into the table,as she started to walk away. She held onto the chair as she turned,to keep herself steady "OK,nevermind..."She said,handing Jinny her car keys.

"What Nate?"CD said into her phone. "Look...I just got dumped,wich is not something I enjoy,and I'm not in a very good mood right now...No,I don't want you to come over and 'cheer me up'...I don't mean to be rude,but what i want right now is to just be left alone,okay?...Okay,thank you..I'll see you tomorrow....Bye Nate." Once again,she she tossed the phone to the other side of the couch,after she shut it off. She picked up the remote,and started flipping through channels,so fast she couldn't possibly see what was on each channel.


"You need me to help you inside?" Jinny offered,as they pulled into her captain's driveway.
"No,I can manage..."Kate climbed out of the car,and had to hold onto the door for a minute,to steady herself. "Thanks for everything,Jinny..."
"No prob, G'night,Cap."
" g'night."
Jinny felt kinda like a mother hen,as she waited,and watched to make sure Kate made it inside alright,before driving off in her Captain's car,wich she was going to return in the morning,at work.

Kate had tried to close the door quietly when she came in,but her lack of coordination,backfired,and she accidetally slammed it.
"Kate,where have you been?" Louis asked,as he walked over to her.
"Having dinner,with a friend.."She slurred. She leaned against the table in the entryway,for sum support,as she took her coat off,and missed the coat tree when she went to hang up her coat." Oh screw it." She mumbled.
"Are you drunk?"
"No,I'm tipsy." She stated.
"So, you have been drinking."
"Ok,Sherlock,now you're supposed to say: It's elementary,My Dear Watson."
Louis didn't appreciate that remark,rather she had been drinking or not. 'Come here."He guided her to the couch,and sat her down. "I'm gonna go make some coffee."
"Oh,I see!"She stumbled to her feet"You're allowed to get drunk on your ass...and deck you girlfriend,but you girlfriend can't even get a little tipsy after a long hard days work!..Wich was made extra hard by the twisted ankle,and black eye,...a pressent from her boyfriend...that everyone kept asking about!!" She ranted,stumbling her way into the kitchen.

"I'm sorry..."Louis mumbled,turning the coffee maker on.He really was sorry that he hit her.
But Kate just ignored him,and went on with her rant.
"Huh?! is that what it is?! Cause,I don't get it!,It's just plain stupid,if ya ask me! Cause,I mean I never decked my girlfriend!..." Kate stopped and stared at him for a moment.,"Un like the ass standing next to me.."She mumbled. " Infact! I don't plan on hitting anybody!!"She shouted.
Louis heard her call him an ass,but he decided to ignore it."Kate, i've said i'm sorry over and over and over again,amd you just keep ranting on"
"Ranting!? Ranting!?Oh,hunny you haven't seen ranting yet!"
"Don't yell in my face.!" His voice was starting to get pretty loud as well.
"Oh,so you can get pissed off about something,that you should know didn't,and would never happen,and hit me with more strength hat i thought you had in you!.,But I can't get mad about somethin that DID happen,and yell a little bit!? Gawd,that's one hell of a double standard!"
"I apologized a thousand times,and you won't listen!" Louis was getting really frustrated. He couldn't get through to her for nothing,on top of the fact that he didn't like being yelled at,or having his words turned around,and taken out of context."You just keep getting more and more upset!" He slammed his fist down on the counter. This startled Kate,and she stepped back a couple of steps....wich made her even more pissed off at herself,for letting him scare her in the least bit.
Louis,didn't notice Kate step away from him, he was rubbing his aching fist.
"You hit me a hell of a lot harder then that last night." She mumbled.
"Kate,I love you, I'm sorry..I don't know what more I can say..."He stepped towards her. Her first instinct was to step back,but she stopped herself. She refused to admit that she was even slightly nervous. He ran his hand through her hair,and then placed it on her cheek.
"Kate,I'm - -"
"Don't touch me." She shoved his hand away.
He sighed and looked at the floor,"Kate I don't know what else I can do...I'm sorry,It'll never happen again...I promise."

"God,why am I still trying?! Everything I say, You turn it around,and use it against me!! Why should i apologize?! It just seems to make you angrier!" His voice rose once again. Kate looked at him,then turned and started to walk out of the kitchen. And then it happened. Just like the night before. Louis grabbed her arm,and pulled her back. "Don't walk away from me!" He glared at her. It wasn't like the night before,but she could tell that he was very angry.
"Don't give me orders!" She tried to pull her arm free,but he had a good grip on her. Now she was really scared,But she wasn't about to let him see it.
"Just answer my question!"
"D@mn it Louis!,let go of me!! You son of a bitch!!" She screamed,digging her fingernails into his hand.
He let go of her arm,and without thinking,raised his other hand.
"So much 'I'm sorry' Huh..."She stared him straight in the eye, She flinch or back away or anything,it was almost as if she were daring him to do it.
He slowly lowered his hand,realizing what he was about to do. He looked down at the ground, "Kate,I am so sorry..I wasn't thinking..." He pulled her to him,and wrapped his arms around him. "I'm sorry..."He whispered in her ear,and then kissed her neck. She stood there,with tears streaming down her face,she didn't hug or kiss him back. "Don't do it again." She said. She pulled his arms loose from her waist,and went to the bedroom.

Shortly after Kate got in bed,Louis did too. He scooted over next to her,and put his arm around her. "Good night..." He whispered,and kissed her cheek.
kate ignored his jestures,and just mumbled a barely audible "G'night."

The next morning,she woke up with a spilting headache. She got up,and walked sleepily to the bathroom,to take a shower. About forty-five minutes later,she was ready for work. As she neared the kitchen,she smelled something cooking,and as she entered the kitchen,she saw what she was smelling. Louis was cooking breakfast. Infact,he was cooking Kate's favorite. When Louis heard Kate come in,he turned to her,and gave her a very passionate 'good morning kiss'.
"I made your favorite." He flashed a hopefull smile.
"I can see that..it looks good." She mumbled. She could see,that he was making an effort to make it up to her. And She was making an effort to forgive him...though it was going to be hard...due to her stubborness,she had a tendancy to hold grudges for various lengths of time
"Here,have a seat.."He motioned,pulling out a chair at the table for her. "It's almost ready..." He quickly kissed the top of her head,and went back to the stove.

So Kate's day had gone better then the day before. She thought that it was partly owed to the fact that She and louis were on some what better terms. Though the fact that he almost took another swing at her, did bother some... She thought he did seem genuinely sorry.
"Knock,knock..."Jinny said,walking into Kate's office,carrying a large bouquet of red roses.
Kate who was on the phone,smiled,and mouthed "Who..?" to to her.
Jinny took the card out of the bouquet,and read it. She pointed to a picture of Louis that was sitting on Kate's desk.
"Okay,thanks...you too.." Kate said into the phone,and then hang it up. She smelled of the roses.
"Here...it's really sweet."Jinny smiled,handing Kate the card.
Kate read the card,and couldn't help but smile.
"So...uh...How's it goin?" Jinny asked."You..uh...seem to be doing better..."She shrugged.
Kate looked out her office window..to make sure no one was in hearing distance of what was being said in her office,"Yeah...uh...He's really sorry for what he did...it's not gonna happen again,so..."
"Are you sure,it's not?..."Jinny didn't mean to ask such a personal question..it just came out.
Kate really wasn't quite sure if she did or not,yet. "...Yeah...I think he deserves another chance....he was drunk...people do some stupid things when they're drunk..."
"Smooth way to avoid the question."Jinny thought to herself. She also noticed how Kate hesitated to answer her...Jinny exactly why...but She was still very worried about her captain. She just kinda had a bad feeling.
"Yeah...well...uh..glad things are goin better fr ya..."Jinny said,and turned to go.
"Thanks,Jin..."Kate said,as Jinny left her office.

a few hours later,Jinny passed a delivery man,as she and Teddy who'd just got back from L.A. and came straight to see her from the airport.
"Wahoo..mor flowers huh,Cap?" Jinny smiled. "That's what,the third bouquet?"
"No....actually these,are for you.."Kate handed the bouquet of 12 yellow roses to her. "By the way,Theodore...the card is really sweet." Hearing this,Jinny imediately read the card.
"Yeah,well I'm cornball,no point in hiding it." He smiled. Jinny
"The handsomest,sexiest,sweetest cornball of time.."Jinny said,pinching his cheek. "Thank you." She kissed him,resulting in an "Awww..." from all of her friends.
"Can,I read the card?" Raina asked eagerly. Normally Jinny wud say ,Hell no!,but this time..."Suuuuure..." She said just to embarrass Teddy,and handed the card to Raina.
"Awwww, Teddy thats sooo sweeeet!" She pinched his cheek. Then CD grabbed the card,and read it. "Awww...Teddy....that soooo corny!" She teased.
"K,well ,i gotta get to work..I swear I do more paper work then anything lately."
Jinny said sitting down at her desk.
"And i just happen to have more for you to do.."Kate said cheerfully,
"Oh Joy!"Jinny said saracastically.
Kate went into her office.while in there,she got a little black box out of her desk drawer,and stuck it in her jacket pocket.
"Here,ya go" She said dropping the papers on Jinny desk.
"Oh,thank you so much! it's what I've always wanted!"
"Yeah,I thought you'd like it."
"Well,I'm gonna get out of you way."Teddy kissed Jinny,and started to leave.
"I'll walk ya out.."Jinny stood up again.
"That's okay,you don't gotta.."This was going against plans...Jinny was supposed to stay there,and kate was supposed 2 meet him outside. "The sooner you get to work..the sooner you get off..." He winked.
"True...but, I don't care I'm walking you out." She smiled.
"Okay."He smiled back. As they walked out,He gave Kate a "What now??" look,wich she returned.

"I'll be right back..."Kate said and started to leave.
"Where ya goin?" Raina asked.
"I,uh...gotta get something outta my car..." She replied,and walked out.

Walking down the hall,she met back up with Jinny and Teddy.
"Hey,where you headed,Cap?" Jinny asked.
"I gotta get something outta my car."
"Oh..is it heavy?...I can get it for you..."Teddy offered,trying to go along with whatever she was planning.
"Um...Nah, I can get it, I don't wanna inconvenience you..."She shrugged.
"Are ya sure?"
"Yeah,thanks anyways.." Kate replied. Slowing her pce,so that she was a little behind Jinny,hoping that Teddy would figure out to do the same. And he did,except that plan got gliched too,when Jinny put her arm around his waist.
"Damn.." Both Teddy and Kate thought.
"Hey,Jin!" Magda called from over at the coffee stand in the lobby. "Come here!...Welcome back Teddy!"
Teddy waved "Thanks!"
"I'll be right back.."Jinny said,and walked over to Magda,and Nate.
Keeping their eyes,on Jinny,Magda and Nate,to make sure they weren't looking...Teddy picked up Kate's hand and held it for a moment.

Louis enter the building of the San Fransisco Police Department,and saw his girlfriend holding hands with a very handsom,and rather young man in a blue suite. "Who the hell is that?" He thought. And when he watched the young man lean down and...kiss Kate's cheek....He jumped to what seemed to him to be the only conclusion.

"Okay.."Kate whispered,with a grin. Then Kate let go of his hand and headed to her car...she didn't really need anything from her car...but she hand to make her story hold up.

"Oh, Hi...Hunny...."Kate met Louis at the doors "What are you doing here?"
"Who was that guy?" He asked point blank.
"W..what guy?" She asked in confusion.
"That guy!" He pointed over to Teddy,who was walkin towards them with Jinny.
"Oh...That's just ADA Blumenthal...why?"
"Don't play clueless with me... I saw you...holding hands...He kissed you..."
And then it clicked for her. "Oh, no..Louis,it's not at all what you think..."She was worried that he was going to blow Her and Teddy's cover. "Listen,I'll explain at home okay..."
"You got that damn right." He glared at her,and walked out.
Jinny had heard the last thing he said to Kate. And saw the look on his face...and for some reason that feeling she had got a little stronger.
Jinny looked at her captain questiongly. Kate just shook her head.

"Here's the file for the Watson case.."Jinny said,as she walked into Kate's office,and handing it to Kate.

He looked at her up, and down as if she were a posession..Like he owned her. She walked into the kitchen and he followed her. "I saw with my own two eyes. Are you calling me a liar!?
She put the food down on the counter and said, "No... not a liar, you just didn't see it right..I was handing him something that belonged to him."
" Oh yeah, I can imagine." Louis mumbled.
"Louis, I swear! I would never cheat on you,and you know it!! Okay! He aske dme to hang on to some thing! Something that he didn't want his girlfriend to see!!"

"Louis!" Kate yelled, "your imposible!" She goes to walk out of the kitchen not even hungry anymore. She was just tired. "I don't wanna argue with you tonight..There is nothing going on between me and Teddy! He - -"
"Teddy?..Oh is that your pet name for him?"
"He is seeing one of my inspecters! That's all I can tell you for now."
He grabed her arm, and backed her up into the wall and says your not going anywere."
"Damn it louis let go of me!!" She screamed in his face,trying to get loose."You're hurting me!"

Jinny had followed her Dad's advice,and put on the clingy strapless red dress,and shoes that matched,that he little brother baught her for her birthday. She still couldn't figure out what posessed him to by her something like this...but now she saw that it could come in useful. "Figures,when i finally decide to wear stillettos,you blind fold me,and take me to some strange place." She said.
"Oh stop complaining,you'll like it." He laughed. "Come here.."He picked her up and carried her.
"Are we going down steps?"
"Very perceptive of you..yes we are." Once at the bottom of the steps he put her down.
"Take you shoes off,it'll be easier to balance."He said once they reached their destination.
"Theodore,where are we?" She asked, doing as he suggested.
"Take a few steps...you'll figure it out."
She took a few step forward...and first she felt the sand under her feet,and then she heard the waves crashing.
"Tell me where we are,and then I'll take the blind fold off." He smiled.
"We're on a beach." She laughed.
"What beach?"
"Teddy... how am I supposed to know that?"
"Just retrace your steps..."
"Uh...." She thought about the parking lot they'ed parked in,and she she didn't know why,but she assumed they'd walked down an alley of sorts...and then she thougth about the two flights of steps he'd carried her down...and then they walkd a little ways further. "....The bay?..."
He pulled off the blindfold, and smiled. "No wonder you made inspector."

"What did I tell you about yelling in my face!?"
"What did I tell you about giving me orders!?" Kate yelled louder just to spite him.
"I'm warning you!"
"What are ya gonna do!? Hit me!?"
Louis just stared at her. He wanted to...he really really wanted to. He let go of her,and walked to the other side of the kitchen. He leaned on the counter,and put his face in his hands. "1...2...3...4...5...6...7..." He tried counting to ten,but it wasn't working...he had thought that was a bunch of crap.
She watched him closely...She could tell that he was having to put forth an effort...that he really wanted to hit her. Somebody...one of them...needed to leave,she thought. She just couldn't be around him right now...she needed to be alone...to think. But she was afraid to say anything...at least right now. It wasn't being hit that really scared her...She didn't wan to be hit again,of course...but,She'd taken a few hefty punches over her years as a cop...It was the fighting...She didn't want to fight anymore...her throat was burning,and her head was starting to hurt from the yelling. She slowly walked into the living room,rubbing her arms where he'd been holding her. She nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard a loud crash,and Louis yell in pain. She slowly returned to the kitchen,and saw his bloody hand,and then the brand new whole in the wall.
"At least it wasn't me." She thought. "Uh...here..." She mumbled and went to the bathroom...She came back with some gauz,some bandage tape,and rubbing alcohol. Neithere of them said anything as she fixed his hand up. An eery silence took over the house.She was asking herself why she was even helping him...She should have just left...He deserved it.
For punching the wall,for accusing her of cheating on him,and lieing...for slamming her against the wall....

"Uh...Jinny...." Teddy began nervously.
"Teddy..."
"Um...."
"Um....what?.." She asked.
He'd had everything planned to a tee,but he never did figure out how he should say what he was about too.
"Teddy...something wrong?"
"No...no,not at all...uh...." He reached into his coat pocket,and pulled something out.


She finished bandaging his hand,and looked up at him. They looked eachother in the eye for several moments with out speaking.
"I'm sorry Kate.."He whispered. He took her face in his hands and gently kissed her. "Really,I am."
"About what you did to me or the wall? She thought to herself. but she didn't say it. She wasn't about to push things even further,now that they had calmed down. "Yeah..."She whispered. He just watched, as she walked out of the kitchen through the living room.and to the door,she grabbed coat and her purse, looked at Louis, "I don't know if I'll be back tonight..But I will be in the morning,to change for work..." She didn't wait for a responce,she just left.

Kate sat at her desk with her face in her hands. The blinds in her office were closed,so that none of the few officers working couldn't se in. The door was locked,and the room was lit by only her desk lamp.
She had so many thoughts about so many things going through her mind,that she thought her eyes were gonna cross. Thoughts about Louis accusing her of cheating on him..."Gawd, If I were gonna have an affair...I wouldn't do it in the lobby of the SFPD....or anywhere within a 25 mile radius of Raina...How stupid does he think I am!?" Then her train of thought switched tracks,and went to the fact that Louis accused her. She couldn't figure out what she'd done or when she did it to make him distrust her. Because she hadn't done anything.
He'd always been the jealous type "But this taking it to a whole new level." She thought. Then Her mind went to his sudden outburst of rage...why was he suddenly so...She hated to use the word 'abusive'. That would imply that she was being abused. And she wasn't..He hit her once...that was it. Or was it?
"He wanted to...He really wanted to..." She thought back to the events of only a couple of hours ago. But why did he want to? Why was he being like this? "..He had to watch his father do it to his mother..." She told herself. "But why?"...And why now?Why not twenty years ago when we were married?" She asked herself,"...And he always said..He was never gonna be like his father..."
The more she thought the more confused she got.

After that night the weeks flew by. Things between Kate, and Louis had settled down. It was for the most part. Kate tired to keep the peace, and stepped down form any huge arguments that she would have gotten into with Louis. Witch was not like Kate, and that was starting to get to her. Any, mistakes that Louis had made he had made it up to her by sending her flowers, and love notes...Well if, you could call them love notes Writing was not a strong point of Louis's, but it was the thought that counted or at least in Kate's option. Things going around the division Kate was starting to question though. CD, and Nate had not as of yet returned to being partners. And to say the least things between the two had been very strained, that was of coarse when they weren't making googoo eyes at each other when they thought no one was looking or that the other wasn't looking. Kate had turned a blind eye two what she was seeing from those two she had enough on her plate. Then there was Jinny Kate didn't think this was possible at of all her inspectors she was the one that was most happy. She had never scene her like that. Kate only wanted to best for Jinny, and it had taken a long time, but Jinny finely understood that, even if it meant it was because Louis had hit her. Something good had come out of all of that Jinny and Kate were closer then ever. Kate looked at her watch she still had to go home, and get ready for the wedding...and she already knew that her hair was gonna take forever to do cause it already wasn't working with her that day.

CD was in the bathroom..."Hurry up" the other women said," The wedding should be happening anytime , and will it would look really bad, if the bride, and one of her brides maids were Late to the weeding." CD said I am trying to go as fast as I can, but I can't pee! Damn it! She said getting frustrated. The other women said "If, I turned on the water you think that would help?" CD said, "It might Finely!" CD yelled getting somewhere. She came walking out of the stall, "okay now we only have to wait fifteen minds for the Results...." She was cut off my other women's response. "Only fifteen minutes, I don't have Fifteen Minutes...I am supposed to be walking down the isle in five. IF that!" CD tired to clam the bride, "it's okay don't worry we will just put is some were until after the wedding." The bride yelled "Were...? were?!?!" The bride heard footsteps coming towards the bathroom. "Oh, no someone's coming!" CD said, "Oh ****!" She was running around the bathroom trying to find a place to stash it. "I can't let anyone find out that I might be pregnet!" The bride said, "They won't, here put it in my purse." They looked up at the person standing at the door. Them both looking like they were about five years old, and had gotten into something that they shouldn't have. "Umm, We can't start the wedding without the bride." The bride said Okay ready."

They all stood for the bride to walk down the isle, she was so pretty. She wasn't as nervures as she thought that she would be. She had what little family she had there. She was missing her mother, but that was okay it was time that she got past that part of her life, and start a new on with her new family, and her husband to be. God she thought I have never scene someone has gorgeous has he looks today. He doesn't look scared at all. It's like WE were meant to be. For the first time in her life she knew that she was doing something right. Marrying the man of her dreams.

Kate was seated in the first row she was kinda of suprised when they had done that she was sitting right next to the father of the bride. AS she had walked up to hand given her a hug, and a kiss on her check. She had noticed Louis's face, and knew that he wasn't very happy about the kiss. Kate asked if this were she be supposed to be sitting, because this was were the family should be sitting, and She wasn't family. No the man said this is the way she wanted it. You mean so much to her even if she doesn't show that all the time. Kate teased "She must take after her father, but at least she got her mothers looks." The man looked at Kate with a smile, and said "thank god she doesn't look like me. Hey I gotta go to walk my daughter down the isle." With that he walked away, and Kate, and Louis sat down. She was hopping that he would start anything with her. When he didn't say anything at all she knew that he wasn't going to say anything....Yet anyway. Kate thought she had never scene him so happy before. The music started, and the bride's maids started walking down the isle, Kate wasn't sure how, but somehow Raina had made her way into the wedding. She was the first one to come walking down, and when she saw Kate she smiled and waved at her. .Kate just laughed. Close to the end one of the groom's men walked up and walked Raina to be she was supposed to stand. Then CD came walking down the Isle. CD had this glow on her that Kate saw.. there was something there that was different about her, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she knew that in good time she would figure it out. When Nate came to walk CD the rest of the way down she knew that only the bride would have the nerve to do that. Know that CD, and Nate weren't exaltedly getting along at the moment. Then the marten of honor came walking down.. Magda She was so happy for her best friend. The best man led her the rest of the way. They all stood there waiting for the bride everything was perfect. From the flowers to the bride's maid dresses. Then the music started, and everyone stated up....The bride was walking down the isle, with her father in toe. They looked so well together. Kate could feel the emotions getting the best of her as her eyes tearing up. Kate was remembering the first time that she saw Jinny.. Hard to believe the same person that she was today. She walked into her office with that all-knowing attitude of hers. Kate new that one day that would make Jinny one hell of an officer on day, but first Jinny had to grow up a bit, and that she had. Jinny was fine young women who disserved the best. Even, back then Kate couldn't describe it, but Jinny was and will always me like a daughter to her, and just the fact that she ended up wanting Kate to sit in the first row had meant a lot to Kate. She felt the tears going down her face as the ceremony started. And they started their vows. AS it went on Kate kept think of times she had had with Jinny...good times and bad. It was a fast ceremony, Kate kinda thought that it might be knowing Jinny cause she would want to go straight for the party...

The minister said:...I now pronounce you man and wife...Mr. and Mrs. Blumenthal....

Jinny, and Teddy stood there, with a knife ready to cut the wedding cake. Everyone was chanting for her to smash the cake in his face. But Jinny did something very unlike Jinny, and didn't smash it in his face. After they ate the cake it was time for the first dance. Teddy and Jinny got up and started dancing to Martina McBride's Valentine. After words everyone stood up, and cheered for them. They were so happy for them. All but, one person who was barley able to stand at the moment, and for once it wasn't. And for once it wasn't Louis..

It was a little later in the evening, and Jinny had to go to the bathroom. She thought "Fine time to start her period. She grabbed her purse, and went to the bathroom. She got out of her purse what she needed, and placed it down on the sink. Jinny heard someone come on, but she wasn't sure and they didn't say anything. When Jinny was done she stepped out of the stall, and saw Teddy's mom standing there. Jinny didn't know what to say, "Mrs. Blumenthal. Was the only thing that did come out.
Mrs. Blumenthal had had a smirk on her face. Jinny thought that was a bad sign. The women didn't even know how to smile let alone know how to be nice. "So I was right...You are just a gold digger, after my son's money...Is this just a little more incentive to get him to marry you or what?" The older women waved the pregnancy test in the air.
All Jinny could say was "Wha… Wha.. What?" She new the lady could be cruel, but this mean, she had no idea.
Teddy's mother just glared at her, and said, "Oh, get off of it, you know exactly what I am talking about. Your nothing more this a gold digging slut."
Jinny stood there in disbelieve. Once again, "No." was the only thing that came out of her mouth. She was in so much shock that she couldn't even think of what to say to defend her self.
The older women nearly laughed at her. "I tell you what… I won't tell my son, and I will write you out a blank check for however much you want."
Jinny stood there speechless. She couldn't believe her years. Hell she couldn't believe what was happening at this very moment. Then she heard it a voice from the doorway say, "What the hell is going on here?" The women that Jinny saw was Kate's she never thought she would be so glad to see her captain.
Mrs. Blumenthal said, "This is between me, and Jinny. I think she, and I understand each other don't we Jinny?"
"Funny," Kate, said, "The I don't see any understanding going on here. The only thing I see is black mail."
"Well, then you miss understood."
"I miss understood nothing!" Kate nearly yelled, "It's black mail, and I don't think your son would be to happy to know that his mother is trying to blackmail his bride."
"Oh really," she spat out, "You have no proof."
Kate looked at the women, and smiled, "Your right I don't." Kate walked up to the women, and grabbed the check out of her hands, and smiled again, "But now I do." Kate raised and I brow and said, "Oh, and look here, it even has you name signed to it. Hmmmmm, Who do you think you son, is going to believe, Jinny, the women that he loves, Or the no good, conniving, manipulative stuck up bitch who he calls mom, Who on several different occasions tried to make Jinny look bad?! Something tells me he is gonna believe Jinny…Shall we go.. and see…?"Kate asked in a condescending tone.
Kate started walking towards the door when she heard the women yell, "Stop. Fine", she glared at Jinny, and said "you win this time."
Mrs. Blumenthal started walking for the door, but Kate blocked her way, and said, "Oh, No I think you going to leave Jinny alone period. Or I'll show Teddy the check I just happened to save."
The women was surprised, she had never had someone stand up to her like this. She hated it more then anything, but said, "That's blackmail!"
Kate, Said to her as if, she were a little girl, "Very good. You're smarter then you look. But isn't that better then you son knowing what has happened in here right now?"
Teddy's mom couldn't believe this was happening in a rather upset voice she said, "Why you bitch!" She pushed passed Kate, and left the room.
"That's Captain Bitch to you!." Kate called after her.
"Thanks. "Jinny smirked.
"Your welcome. Kate was looking at the pregnancy test, "Is this- -" She asked.
Jinny cut her off, "No, it's not." She didn't want to get stuck saying anything she shouldn't so she grabbed the test, and left the room before Kate could say anything else to her,
"Then who? "Kate thought out loud, as she followed Jinny out.

"Hey, I was wondering where you went. "Louis handed Kate a glass of wine.
"Thank you. "Kate noticed that he didn't sound happy, but she ignored it, She wasn't gonna let anything else go wrong with this day.
"Hiya, Captain. "Teddy smiled.
"Hello. "She returned the smile.
"How are you?"
"I'm great ." She replied. Mrs. Blumenthal walked by, and then exchanged glares.
"So, uh...word is you tango." He smiled. "Is this true?"
'Yes..."She looked at him suspiciously.
"Kewl, are ya as good as I've heard?"
"Eh...well.."
"I don't have time for modesty.. "He laughed.
"Yeah, I'm, I guess. "She laughed. "Why?"
"Because a tango contest has just been organized, and I'm going after that pop-o-gold....please?"
"Nah, I don't think so, go dance with your wife..."
"She's judging,...Oh come on...I'll split the pot with ya..."He gave her the puppy face.
"Oh so that's the face Jinny's always talking about."
"Yep sure is...and it hasn't failed me yet.. pleeeeeeease....so far there's two hundred in...come on...don't cha wanna make my brother-in-law look like a fool?"
"Okay.. "Kate sighed." But it's the making your brother-in-law.. assuming you mean John Jr. not Casey. "She chuckled." look like a fool, that sold it...not the face."
"Suuuure."
Kate handed her wine back to Louis, and walked onto the dance floor with Teddy. just as Casey got on the mike, and announced the contest.
"Figures. "Louis mumbled, as he finished off his glass and Kate's glass of wine, and went back to the bar for another. "Hasn't managed to say no all night...Mrs. Robinson wanna-be."

John sr. & his date, and CD &Nate ,and Teddy's parents had already quite, and were now cheering Kate & Teddy on...well, except for Mrs. Blumethal who wasn't at all happy that her son was dancing Kate.
Leaving John Jr. & Raina, Magda & Gabe, and of course Kate & Teddy. out of the three couples,. either Kate & Teddy or Magda & Gabe were most likely to win.
"She's a hell of a dancer. "John Sr. commented to Louis.
"Yeah, I know. "He replied, as he finished off another glass of wine.
"Okay, okay. "Jinny stepped up to the microphone as the music stopped. "The winner of the tango contest is...Me and Casey. "She laughed. "No seriously though...basted solely on my personal bias opinion..."
"Jinny play fair." Casey laughed.
"Okay, fiiine "She rolled her eyes. "Clap if you think the winner should be John Jr. &Raina....okay, how's about Gabe & Magda....or.. My wonderful husband.. and everybody's favorite captain.?"
"Suck up.!" John Jr. called out.
"Okay, well the applause have it! Teddy you may rub it in my brother's face till it falls off." Casey clapped.
"Ha! That's who I was gonna pick in the first place." Jinny cheered.
"Pay up suckers! "Teddy let out an evil laugh as all the men handed him their share of the prize money.
"Your half, my Dear. "He handed Kate her share of the prize.
"This day just keeps getting better. "She laughed, folding the money and putting it in her purse.
"How's about a victory lap?" He asked, as the music started back up.
"sure, why not."

Louis stood watching Kate and Teddy dance for the second time that night, and second time in a row. "Even hogging the groom from the bride. "He thought.

"May, I cut in?" Jinny asked, with a laugh
"He's yours after all. "Kate laughed.
Teddy reached for his bride, but instead she took Kate's hand, "I'll lead. "She laughed.
"Uh, well bump you too. "He laughed.
"Don't worry I'll dance with you next. 'Jinny pinched his cheek.
"Have fun ."He chuckled and walked over to hang with his best man, till it was his turn.
"Jinny, you...are crazy. "Kate laughed, as the began to dance.
"Yep....You've met my family, you know why."
"Good, point."
Then Jinny stopped joking around, "Listen.. I just...I wanted to say thanks for being here..."
"What did I tell you about sayin that crap? "Kate smiled. "You know that I'm glad to do it."
"And for...kinda standing in for my mom...you have no idea how much it means to me. "Jinny sighed.
"Aww, Jinny..."Kate stopped dancing "you have no idea how much it means to me ,that it means so much to you.

"Now that is a site I never...ever thought I would see." Magda said, watching Her partner and her captain, laughing, hugging, and dancing. "It's sooooo sweeeet!"
"Yeah, and on top of it… Jinny hugged Cap...go figure. "CD laughed. She grabbed Teddy's arm, and pulled him over too her, "Tell me we are getting this on tape." She pointed to Jinny & Kate.
"We're getting this on tape. "He laughed.
"Seriously?"
"Yes."
"I want a copy.
"Me too. "Magda ,and Raina added.
'Okay, I'll see what I can do." He laughed.
"Okay, it's my turn. "Teddy laughed, as he walked up to Jinny and Kate as soon as the music stopped.
'Okay, okay.. you are possessive. "Jinny laughed.
"Iny mini -"Teddy pointed back and forth between Jinny and Kate.
"What are you doing?"
"Trying to diced...do I wanna dance, with.. the dancer. 'He pointed to Kate, "or the toe crunchier?...You, that is"
"UH, well..."Jinny pretended to be offended (hey that rhymed...oops lol)"You just dance with he dancer.. if that's the way you're gonna be...I'll go crunch on somebody else's toes."
"I was just joking, Jin. "He laughed.
"I know. "She smiled.
"Well, you two have fun. "Kate laughed. "Sorry about your toes Teddy."
"Eh, small sacrifice for the woman I love."
"Oh that was so corny. "Jinny kissed him.
"Well, I just realized I have pretty much danced with everybody but my boyfriend tonight, so..."
'You're just the bell of the ball. "Teddy twirled her around.
'Yeah ,well.. I like the title, but I don't think Louis is.. "She looked over and saw the not happy expression on his face.

It was time, time for Jinny, and Teddy to leave. They had one last dance, and as Jinny as there, and thought about her wedding day it didn't go nearly as she had thought that it would. It was better, much better. She had always thought that at her wedding she would get drunk of her a$$, but she was a lot happier this way. And more in love with a guy then she ever thought possible. This was the man she would be spending the rest of her life with. She put her head on his shoulder, and whispered "I love you Teddy"
He said "I love you too."
The song was over, and so wedding day. A day they would never forget. The best day of their life. Jinny, and teddy said bye to every one, and when Jinny got to Kate, Both of them had tears in their eyes. But it was Kate who said, "C'mon, Jinny, lets not cry, it's supposed to be a happy occasion, not a sad one. And Jinny said. "I know, I just can't help it." They both laughed though their tears, Jinny kissed her cheek and Teddy moved her along and they got in the limo and everyone waved good bye, As the car went to drive away "Good luck Jin..." Kate thought with a smile.
"Okay, you've had more then enough, Louis." Kate took the wineglass from him, and sat it on the table. "Come on, I think we'd better go. "She tried to help him stand up, but he wouldn't budge.
"I'm fine ,Kate." He snapped, and picked up the glass again.
'no you're not, now come on. "She took the glass away from him again, and handed it to Raina who handed it to a waiter she was chatting with. "
Damn it Louis, help me out here. "She said, once again trying to help him stand. He stood up, but he still wasn't a big help, He was pretty heavy, and she was having a hard time supporting him. 'Do ya think you can stand by yourself?"
"Yes, I can. "He slurred.
"Are ya leavin, Captain? "John Sr. asked.
" Yeah...somebody partied a little too hearty. "She pointed to Louis
"Oh.. "John Sr. chuckled. 'Well, thanks for comin, It was nice seein ya." He helped her into her coat.
"Thanks, you too. "She smiled. "It was my pleasure."
"Aw, come here. "He laughed, and they shared a hug.
"G'night."
"Good night. "She replied, and acted as Louis's human crutch ,as they left.
"Wahoo, Man, you and...what's-his-name sure are lovey dovey. "Louis slurred.
Kate rolled her eyes, and chose to ignore him.
"Needs some help Captain? 'Casey asked.
"No think you, I got him."
Casey being, the ever helpful gentleman he is, Kate never could figure out how he could possible be fully related to John Exstead Jr., decided to follow her out to the car, to make sure anyway.

Louis walks up to the driver's side, and Kate asks 'What do you think your doing?"
" The tango.. with Mr. Blumenthal. What's it look like I'm doing?" He replied sarcastically.
"It looks like you are coming back over here, and getting in the passenger seat."
"Oh, I'm coming over there, but only to get the keys. "HE said, wobbling around the car.
"No." Kate stated.
"Kate, give me the damn keys! "He yelled in her face.
"No. You are way too drunk. "She replied calmly.
"I'm not drunk! Give me the keys!!"
"No!" Kate started to walk around to the driver's side, but Louis grabbed her, and pinned her to the car.
"Ow, let go! "Kate tried to free herself from his grasp.
'Give me the damn key!"
"Louis, please, you're hurting me. "She sighed.
"Hey, what the hell do you think you're doing?!" Casey pulled him off of her.
"You just stay outta this! "Louis yelled, and started for Kate again.
"Hell no! "Casey got in front of Kate so Louis couldn't get to her.
"This is none of your business!" Louis tried to go around him.
"Oh yes it is!" Casey moved so he could get around him. "I be damned I'm gonna let you treat her like that!"
"Here, Louis. "Kate stepped out from behind her bodyguard. 'Here take the damn keys. "She sighed, and handed them to him. "Go ahead, and wreck it, I don't care." Then she turned to Casey, "Would… do you mind giving me a ride home?"
"Not a bit, come on."
"No! You're coming with me! "Louis grabbed her arm, and pulled her over to him, almost causing her to trip. Kate pulled her arm away from him, and Casey pinned him to the car. "If you ever lay another hand on her, and I find out about it...you will regret it."

Kate was almost shocked, she'd never seen Casey like this, he was really pissed at Louis, and He looked like he was ready and willing to beat the snot out of him.
"Get outta here. "Casey let Louis go.
"Come on, Casey. "Kate picked up his hand and gave it a tug.
"I'll see you at home. "Louis stated.
"Maybe, maybe not. "Kate replied.
"What's that supposed to mean?!"
Kate ignored him, and got in the passenger side of Casey's car.

Through most of the car ride there was silence, except when Kate told him where to turn to get to her house.
Kate was starring out the window,. preparing herself for a question or two. And she really didn't want Casey to see her crying.
Casey had a few questions he wanted to ask her, but he wasn't sure if he should. And He did know that she was crying, he saw her reflection in the window.
"Hey, uh Captain..."Casey hesitated.
"What?"
"Has uh...has he done this before?"
Kate sighed. There it was, the question she knew was coming, "He...hit me once...but it was a long time ago"
'Why the hell are you still with him??" Casey asked without thinking.
"Because, it was once,...like I said a longtime ago, he apologized, and said he'd never do it again...up until now, it looked like he was gonna make good on that promise."
"Y'know you can always stay at my place tonight ."Casey offered, as he pulled into her driveway.
"Thanks anyway Casey. "She smiled. "But I'll be fine."
"Captain - -"
"Really, He's probably already passed out on the couch."
"And if he's not?"
"Casey, I'll be fine. "She kissed his cheek. " Thanks for the ride."
"Captain, If he tries anything, call me."
"Okay, thanks good night. "They hugged and she got out of the car. Casey hesitated, but he pulled out, and drove away. Kate went to open the door, just as it flew open.

"So...that's why he was so quick to come to your rescue tonight." ,he through his beer across the room, shattering it against the wall.
Kate starred at the beer dripping down the wall, and started to wish she'd gone with Casey. 'What are you talking about? "She asked as calmly as she could.
"I saw your mini-love fest in the car! "He shouted.
"Love fest?? "Kate was nervous but you certainly couldn't tell it. "I kissed his cheek.. and we hugged, what love fest?!"
Louis glared at her, then went into the kitchen with out saying a word. Kate saw her chance, and she was gonna take it. She started scanning the room for the car keys.
"If you're looking for these, they're right here." Louis waved the keys in the air, then shoved them back in his pocket, and chugged his new beer. "Can, I have them please? "She figured it was worth a shot.
"Say: May I."
"May I.. have them please? "She rolled her eyes.
"Don't roll your eyes at me. "He grabbed a hold of her face. "Say pretty please."
"Pretty please. "She knocked his hand away. Her nervousness was giving way to frustration.. and if she didn't watch herself, things could possibly get a lot worse.
"With a cherry on top."
"Screw it! "She yelled and picked up the phone.
"Who are you calling?"
"Somebody. "She looked through her caller-id hoping the number was on there.
"Who?! "He shouted.
"Yes! "She whispered, as she pushed the call button on the phone. "Somebody to come get me, I'm not staying here, as long as you are like this!"
"Like hell, you're not!" He grabbed the phone from her, and through across the room.. busting it to pieces.
" Louis, why are you doing this?!" She asked, walking into the bedroom.
"Doing what!? I'm not doing anything!? You are the one that was dancing and flirting with every man at that wedding.. well everyone but me!" He followed her. "Don't walk away from me when I'm talking to you! "He grabbed her arm, and pulled her to him.
She pulled her arm free. "I would have danced with you gladly but by the time I was done 'flirting' "She made quotes with her fingers," with everyone, you were too damn drunk to know Big bird from Cher!!"
"You bitch! "Louis hit her, and she hit him back just as hard. Then Louis grabbed her by the shoulders, and shoved her as hard as he could. As she fell her back hit the corner of the dresser. She sat in the floor, blood dripping down her back, she didn't scream, She certainly wanted to but, she couldn't get it to come out.

Jinny looked at Teddy on their wedding night, she couldn't believe this was happening. "C'mon Teddy, get it in the whole."
"I'm, trying Jinny." He said getting frustrated
"Well, apparently not hard enough," she said, "Push harder."
Teddy said, "I'm trying. But it just doesn't fit."
Jinny rolled her eyes, "It did just the other day."
Teddy even more frustrated, "Something tells me this isn't something we should be worry about on our wedding night, wither or not my wedding band fits."
Jinny laughed, "From the sounds of the honey room sweat next to us, it sounds like we are 'DOING it" just fine."
Teddy jokingly glares at her, and says, "except for were not 'doing it' at all."
"Whose fault is that?" Jinny asked
"Yours, I am not sure how, but it was your fault that my wedding band doesn't fit." He said, "Maybe it's all your cooking."
Jinny laughed again, "I don't do any cooking."
Teddy said, "Exactly."
"Hey teddy?" Jinny asked
"What? He asked
"Shut up, and Kiss me!"
"I have never been one to refuse you," He said as he started kissing her. She had on a white night gown for her weeding night. They lay back on the bed with teddy on top still kissing her. She grabbed at the silk boxers that he had on, and pulled them off. He grabbed out her nightgown, it took him a couple of tries, but he finely got it. They put their arms around each other, and started moving with each other as if there was music that they were moving to that neither one of them could hear, but it was still perfect.

Louis just stared at her like a big drunken idiot. After a couple of minutes Kate slowly tried to get up. But her back was hurting so badly, she could barely move without wanting to faint. When Louis saw the blood that was slowly turning her green shirt red, realization began to creep into his dense drunken little brain. "Oh ****. "He mumbled, reaching down to help her up.
"Oh **** is right! "She only let him help her because, she knew there was no way she could get up by herself. She very gently put her hand on her back, trying to see if it was as bad as it felt was. Judging by her blood-covered hand...it was worse. "Give me the damn keys! "She demanded.
Guilt hadn't really set in for Louis yet, but he knew what he had just done was not a good move. He didn't say nor do anything, he just starred at her.
"Give me the damn keys! "She yelled.
"No..."He said coldly. "You'll just go to Lover boy.... You are not going anywhere."
"He is NOT my 'lover boy' as you put it!... He's gay damn it!" She yelled. "I wish he wasn't though, He's probably the only good guy I've met in a long time."
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Louis yelled, as he through Kate onto the bed, causing a horrible sharp pain to rip through her back.
"Get off of me!!" She screamed. She prepared herself for a very hard punch, and it didn't come. "Louis, No, please! Louis, Please!" Tears streamed down her face when she realized what he was going to do. She tried to push him off of her, and that's when she got the punch she'd been expecting. "Louis, please don't! Please!" She pleaded as she tried to stop him from ripping open her shirt. She took yet another punch, which caused her more pain in her back, and made it so she couldn't move. Louis then ripped her shirt open, and then reached down to pull up her skirt. Kate said a quick prayer for someone to help her or give her the strength to get Louis off of her.

Casey stood outside the house trying to figure out what he should do. He thought he heard someone scream and he decided he was going in. Invited or not.
He Yelled, "SFPD open up!" No one did. His first thought was to break down the door, because he wanted to break something so bad. He was soooo angry. Before, ramming the door, he decided to try the knob first. It opened without a problem. And he was slightly disappointed. He walked in, and could hear someone crying upstairs. "Captain!?" He called out as he walked up there.
"Casey?" She slowly fumbled out of the bedroom, leaning on everything she could for support. The fight with Louis had done even more damage to her back. She didn't care why he was there or how he got in, She was just glad to see him.
"Oh my god, are you okay?!" He rushed over to his bruised, bleeding half-naked captain. She just clung on to him, like she was stuck in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and he was her life raft. He looked into the bedroom, and saw Louis laying in the floor unconscious. "Hey, you're okay...relax now, you're okay." He took his coat off, and put it on her.
She looked up at him. She felt so ashamed that she would let something like this even happen to her, and nodded her head, and said weakly, "Can you take me to the hospital?"
"Yeah." He replied. He gently picked her up, so as not to hurt her back. As he carried her through the living room, He saw the pieces of phone lying on the floor beside pieces of beer bottle, and realized that was the bang he heard right before he heard the dial tone.

Casey carried her out to the car,and helped her get in. "Hey it's okay...every thing's gonna be fine." He reasured her,as he helped her put her seat belt on. Kate nodded very slightly.Tears were still pouring down her face,but she wasn't sobbing anymore. She was almost in a trance like state..and it was starting to give Casey the creeps. She was like that for the whole ride to the hospital. Casey wasn't sure what had happened,but he knew it was bad.

Dr. Carter was sitting on the reseption desk,having a quick snack,when he saw a blonde man rush in with a badly beaten red haired woman in his arms.He put down his candy bar,jumped down,and rushed over to them. "what happened?"He asked as he led them to an examination room.
"She got the **** beat out of her ."Casey snapped.
"By who?"He motioned for Casey to lay her on the gerny.
"By her- -"
Kate cut him off. "By nobody important."
Dr. Carter had heard that line before,and filled in the blanks with the most probable answer...her husband or boyfriend.

Jinny told Teddy that she would be back in a moment. They had something she wanted to put on for him. She went into the bathroom, and put on the overhead fan so Teddy couldn't hear here. She pulled out the phone, and dialed a number. "Hello CD? It's Jinny. Yes, CD I know it's my wedding night and the last thing I should be doing is calling you, but you see…Since you decided to take a pregnancy test on the day of my wedding… I figured you would want to know the results."

"I well some how I didn't think you would be calling me tonight with them. Tomorrow maybe, but not tonight CD said.

Jinny, Jokingly around said, "Oh, okay I can wait till tomorrow if you can."

CD Yelled, "Nooooooooooo! You have to tell me Now, I can't wait any longer!"

"Okay are you ready for the results?" Jinny asked

CD took in a deep breath, and said, "as ready as I will ever be."

Jinny took the test out of her bag, and read it, and said, "Okay CD, I need for you to stay calm." Jinny waited a beat, and said, "Your pregnant."

CD started running around her apartment Yelling, "No I can't be. It's not right no…" Then she screamed out in pain."

"OMG, CD, is everything okay… What did you do?"

"I am fine… Damn it! She yelled, "I just stubbed on toe."

Jinny laughed at her friend, and said, "You think stubbing you toe is bad pain, just wait until you go into labor!"

"Some friend you are!" CD Joked.

On Jinny side of the phone she could barley hear the muffled voice of Teddy asking Jinny if everything was okay in there. Jinny said, "Ummm…. Yeah…. Yeah…. Everything is fine, you know me just having a problem putting this might gown on is all. I will be right out." Jinny whispered into the phone, and said, "Sorry CD I have to go. Bye." And with that Jinny hung up the phone.

CD hung up the phone. Wondering how in the hell she was going to tell Nate she was pregnant.


Casey was sitting out in the lounge area waiting,when Dr. Carter walked over to him.
"Can I go and see her?" Casey stood up.
"Uh,in a few minutues.."
"You look concerned..what's wrong?"
"Well,..."Dr. carter sighed. "I don't know yet,first I need to ask you some questions."
"Okay..."
"First...I don't want to jump to conclusions,but I've treated a lot fo these cases,I'm sad to say..."
"What?"
"Did her husband do this to her?"
"Uh.."Casey knew Kate didn't want him to tell anybody,But he also knew that it was for her own good." Yeah."
"What exactly happened?"
"I'm not sure...I know that he was drunk,and they got in an arguement over the car keys,and he rough handled her some...I took her home,told her to call me if she needed me...and She did..or at least she tried to anyays. I think he busted the phone. When I got there,she was in the bedroom,and he was on the floor uncontious...why?"
"well,because...the crotch of her pantyhose was ripped open...and there is some light bruising on her inner thighs."
"Oh...my..gawd."Casey mumbled.
"And,as you probably know, we have to call the police, in matters of - -"
"Yeah,I know. I am the police.And so is she."He stated. "Have you talked to her yet?"
"About rape?"
"Yeah."
"No - -"
"Good,I wanna do it."Casey started down the hall.
"Follow me. "Dr. Carter jogged a short peice to catch up with him.

For the most part She was all patched up now. They ran x-rays of her back,and had just finished stitching it. Six stitches to be exact. It was a short wound,but pretty deep,luckily not deep enough to do any major damage.
Kate sat there with tears flowing uncontrolably. She wasn't in pain,meds had taken care of that,it was more less shock that something like this had happened to her. Casey walked up to her, and as if, he were a big bear ,swept down, and hugged her. He told her it would be okay that he would make sure of that." Kate sniffled trying to wipe the tears away. Casey pulled out of the hug, and held her face in his hands, and he wiped the tears that were falling down Kate's face. She was trying to hold it together for she was the captain of this young man in front of her, and he shouldn't see this personal side from her, but she couldn't help it as more tears fell. "Hey Cap I'm sorry, but I have to ask you..." He didn't want to have to do this, and it was breaking his heart as much as it was her's, but as if, another tide had turned, Kate got a defiant look in her face, and said, "NO..It's not what you think" Casey looked down trying to find the right words thinking maybe she hadn't remembered." Uhh maybe you should have a rape kit done just in case...Ummm you know in case you don't remember, or blacked out or something." The tears started falling again..This couldn't...No this wasn't happening to her..She looked at Casey, and said through tears, "I knocked him out with the lamp before he got a chance to uhh..." She looked up at Casey with pleading eyes..hoping that he could see she couldn't bring herself to say rape. He nodded his responce and with that she fell apart again, and just started crying. Casey took her in his arms..She cried silently for what seemed to be a long while. And then it slowly stopped and She lay there just looking at the sealing, blinking her eyes slowly until she fell alseep.



It was the next morning, and Jinny woke up, and felt the other side of the bed. Teddy wasn't lying there, but twelve white roses were, with a note that said,

She sat reading the note over, and over again. That was so pretty she thought, as a single tear went down her face. Damn him she though, No better yet damn PMS...That's the only reason why I am crying. She wiped away the tears in her eyes. Just then teddy came back into the room, and said, "I honey I back." Jinny walks over to him, and slugs him lightly in the arm, and he says, "Ouch what was that for?"
"For making me cry!" she says jokely.
"Oh, he siad, "I see you got my note."



"Hey has anybody talked to Cap?"CD asked worriedly. It was ten thirty a.m. ,and the only person missing at the division was Kate...And Jinny,but they knew where she was. She was having a wonderful time on her honeymoon,totally oblivious to the drama going on in San Fransisco.
"Yeah."Magda replied. "She just called a few minutes ago. She said she isn't feeling well and she's not coming in."
"Oh...I hope she's okay."
"Yeah..she said she'd be fine...she just thinks it was something she ate last night."
"I ate some of everything last night."Nate said" And I feel fine." "Yeah,but you could eat a brick,and it wouldn't give you anytrouble."CD smirked. "They don't call me a walking garbage disposal for nothin ."He winked. "Well, I wouldn't say you ARE a garbage disposal. but you certainly belong IN one." CD shot.
"Hey" Nate said, "I may belong in one, but at least I woke up on the right side of bed, Where the hell did you wake up?"
CD smiled sweetly at him, and said, "Not with you."
Nate said, walking over to the coffie, "Here maybe some coffie will help you mood!"
CD glared at him knowing she couldn't have any because she might be pregnant.'Might' was still the word until she went to the doctor,and found for certain, one hundred percent.
"I am cutting down on my coffee."


Casey pulled into Kate's driveway,and paused for a moment,before turning off the engine and getting out.

Louis had come too at some point that night,or early this moring.He remembered very little of what had happened. But the broken lamp in the bedroom, the broken pictures that had fallen off the dresser when he shoved Kate against it, what was left of the phone,the broken beer bottle,and where he was when he woke up,tipped him off.

Casey knocked on the door,incase the jackass was awake. After a minute or two,Louis answered the door.
"I'm getting some clothes for Cap."He stated. "I swear on my badge if you give me any trouble I will put you in twice as much pain,as you did her last night! I should do it anyways,but I'm not gonna sink to your level just yet."
Louis was in too much pain to put up a fight.His head felt like someone had broken a lamp or something over it. " How...how much pain did I put her in?" He mumbled.
Casey stopped halfway up the stairs,turned around and glared at him. "She spent the night in the hospital. She can barely walk!"Casey's voice kept getting louder and louder. "Because of the six stitches in her back!...And do you remember trying to rape her?! Thats why you woke up on the floor! Is your head hurting?! Because she had to knock you out with the lamp!!"
"Oh my god..."He sighed. "W...where is she,I wanna go see her."
"Yeah,okay...When hell freezes over!!!!" He yelled. "Oh and I have a message from her. She says to have your ass outta here by six o'clock tonight....and I will come by to make sure you are." He stormed up the stairs and into the bedroom. When he saw what was left of the lamp,and all the pictures laying on the floor,it took all he had in him not to turn around and go give Louis a taste of his own medicine. He went through the drawers of the dresser...wich had something red on the corner of it,wich made him even angrier. He got the clothes as quickley as he could. If he stayed there much longer,he was afraid if he would explode with anger and/or do something very very stupid.
"Where is she?!"Louis demanded,as he entered the room.
"You are really pushing your luck! Get out of my way!"
"Not till you tell me where she is!"
"I'm gonna count to three,if you don't move,I will move you!"
Three seconds past,and Louis didn't move.
"You are one cocky son of a bitch,you know that?"
Louis didn't get a chance to answer the question before he was again unconcious on the floor.
Casey rubbed his knuckles . "Gawd that felt good." He grinned as he stepped over him,and went on his way.

Kate stayed at Casey's house that day,while she forced him to go on to work. She sat on the couch flipping through channels,though she wasn't paying any attention to the tv. Against her will,she was thinking about the night before. And about Louis. She tried to back to earlier that day.The happy part.And it made her even angrier at Louis...and herself,for not having gone home with Casey. Louis had take one of her happiest days,the day she got to watch the woman who was like a daughter to her get married to the man of her dreams,and ended it with a horrifying night that she wanted so badly to forget,but couldn't.

Casey sat in the driver's seat his police cruiser,waiting for his partner to come out of anchorside,with late lunch in hand. He too was deep in thought about the night before,and Louis. His blood was boiling,He couldn't remember ever being so mad,and he freaked himslef out a little. He'd seen lots of abuse cases,and he'd taken a lot of women to the hospital,some similar to what had hapened to Kate,and some more severe. But this time he couldn't force himself not to get personally involved. This time it was someone who he highly respected,and cared about. It was the woman who'd helped his sister get sober,and had always been behind her one hundred percent. Who had defended his sister from D.C. Haysbert many,many times. It WAS personal this time. Louis had not only messed with someone Casey cared about,but someone Jinny cared about. And when you mess with someone Jinny loves you mess with Jinny,wich was not something Casey was fond of either. Add all that up,and Louis was in BIG trouble.

"Geez,Cap must really be sick,She's not answering the phone."Raina said,as she hung her phone up.
"Maybe she went to the doctor." Cd suggested.
"Maybe,she did sound pretty bad this morning,when she called."She sighed."I'm gonna try to go by and see this afternoon."
"Give her a hug for me."
"Will do."

Kate was determined to stop thinking.She stopped flipping through the channels when she came across a movie with Nancy McKeon in it.She watched for a moment then realized what movie it was. A Cry For Help was the LAST movie she wanted to watch at the moment. Thinking about that movie,made her think of all the possibilities that could have happened last night. Wich got her back to thinking "What if..." What if, She hadn't managed to get her hands loose? What if she hadn't managed to reach the lamp? What if Casey hadn't come? What if? She needed to talk to somebody...She needed to talk to Jinny,but then at the same time she didn't want to talk to Jinny. She didn't want Jinny to know. She didn't want to hear her say "I told ya so." but mostly she didn't want her to know something so horrible had happened on her wedding night. She didn't want to ruin one of the happiest days of her life.

"Gawd,it's crowded,in there."Emma exclaimed,as she plopped down in the passenger's seat."Casey?" She punched his shoulder,to get his attention,"Hello! Casey!"
"Huh?Oh...sorry."He mumbled,as he put the car in drive,and waited for the oppertunity to pull out onto the highway.
"What is with you today?"
"It...it's nothing."He mumbled again.
"Dude,you were several hours late for work,and you've been off in your own little world all day/ It's something. Now talk to me."
"Okay,but you can't tell anyone. I'm not supposed to tell anyone."Casey sighed.
"Okay."
"I was at the hospital all night and- -"
"Are you okay??"
"Yeah,I'm fine...it,uh...it was a friend..."He punched the dashboard in frustration,"Her boyfriend beat the crap out of her...and,and tried to rape her."
"But he didn't?"
"No...she knocked him out with a lamp...Thank God." Silence fell over the car. He was thinking to himself. And she wasn't sure if she should ask him to go on or not.
"I shouldn't have let her go home! He was drunk,and...and,so rough with her,He was jerking her around like she was a ragdoll!"He yelled out of the blue. "I should have known...I did known! I tried to get her to stay with me,I should have been more insistant!"
"You saw them- -"
"Yeah,this is all my fault! In the parking lot...last night, He wanted to keys,and she was trying to keep them from him,and..."
As Emma listened to Casey talk about what happened in the parking lot,she remembered seeing him fighting with some guy in the parking lot after Jinny's wedding, and He left with..."Oh my God! Not Captain McCafferty!" She thought.
"I should have insisted more. But she said she would be alright."
"Casey,it's not your fault. She said she was okay. She knows him better then you,You had her word to go on."
"Yeah,but still...."He sighed,and finally pulled out onto the road.
"Okay,yes if you had insisted more,She MIGHT have gone with you.And it MIGHT have stopped it,OR it might have merely
postponed it,and possibly made it worse. Nobody knows,and 'What if' isn't the important thing."
"Yeah,you're probably right."
"Of course I am."She nodded.,"The only person at fault is the asswhole that did it to her. Just be glad it wasn't any worse then it was,and be there for her...my guess is she could use a little support from a big, strong, handsome,...sadly gay,adorable stud like yourself."She tried to lighten the mood a little.
Casey's face turned a couple different shades of red,as he smiled sheepishly,"Ain't ironic how the gay guys get all the girls?"


Kate was looking out the window of Casey's apartment,when she saw him pull into the parking lot. She slowly,and painfully got up,and stumbled to the door.It seemed that every little move she made,caused horrible pain in her back. She thought about walking down and meeting him,but decided against it. It was way to far to walk,and it would be too painful. She was so glad to see him. Maybe some company would help her get her mind off things,and she was eager to know if Louis had done as he was told.
"Hey."Casey smiled,as he came up the stairs and saw her standing in the doorway. His smile didn't last long though, From all the way down the hall,he could tell that she'd been crying...a lot.
"How ya doin?"He asked,as he walked past her into the appartment.
"Peachy." She replied saracastically as she shut the door. "Sorry,I didn't mean to snap at you."She sighed.
"Here,sit. the doctor told you to stay off your feet." He motioned to the couch.
"I have been."She said,as she slowly sat down.
"Good." Casey dropped his gun and holster in the chair,and sat beside her. "I,uh...I went by your house..."
"And?"
"He's gone."They both sighed. "But,you're staying here,anyways."
"Casey,I- -"
"You're not going home."He stated.
Kate didn't wanna go home anyways,but she didn't want to impose on Casey. And besides she had to keep up her tough as nails image.
"I'm not taking 'No' for an answer."Casey said. He was certain Louis still had a key,and he wasn't gonna take any chances this time. This time he was gonna insist.
"Okay...for tonight." She agreed. Tears started to well up in her eyes again. She knew why Casey didn't want her to go home. He was afraid that Louis would show back up. And the fact that Casey was afraid for her safety,made her a little scared too.
"Damn it..I think I'm just gonna hafta pour cement in my eyes,if I wanna stop crying."She said as she wiped her tears away.
"Nah,come here."He very gently pulled he rinto his arms. "Now you just lay your pretty little head on my shoulder,and cry till there are no more tears left...or my shirt is completely soaked,and i gotta change...wich ever comes first."
"Why is it that all the good guys are gay?"
"Funny,I was just asking myself the other day,why are all the good guys straight." He smirked.

It had been a few days after Jinny had gotten back from her honeymoon. She wanted Kate to come over to so, that she could thank her once again for the help she had given her at the wedding. Then of course Kate got go and gave her that family ear loom. Jinny thought that it was rather tacky peace of art, but it meant so much to her that Kate would give it to her. She remembered the card to, and how it had made her cry. Jinny thought to herself, more as a joke then anything else that she hadn't Married Teddy, because ever since she had the only thing she did was cry. Kate's card to Jinny read,

Dear Jinny,

I hope the honeymoon was great! I am sure it was. I am giving you the family air loom, because I know that you will appacraite it as much as…. Well as much as my great grad mother. It was a present given to her from her mother-in-law who didn't like her very much. So I thought this gift was rather appropriate for you. Just tell me to re-mind you what that peace of shi…oops sorry…. Art is really good for. We have all missed you at work so hurry up and return to it, before I come make you screaming, and yelling. Just kidding. All jokes are a side. You will never know it meant to me to be sitting in the front row. Jinny you are like a daughter to me. I hope you know that I love you very much, and just wish you all the happiness in the world.

"Okay, okay," Jinny thought you have to put down that note, and stop reading it, other wise people are going to start thinking that all you, and Teddy did on your honeymoon was fight. Even though that was not the truth. They did a lot of things on their honeymoon, but fighting wasn't one of them. Jinny had this brilliant smile on her face, She was thinking of the love, love, and more love that Teddy, and her had had on their honeymoon. It was something that she never wanted to forget. They had gone to Cancun, Mexico. It was beautiful their. The sunsets were something she knew she could never forget. They were never up early enough to see the sun rise. AS she was in the middle of her thoughts, the doorbell rang. "It must be Cap." She thought. She went an answered the door.
Sure enough, she was wright it was the Captain. "Come in." Jin said warmly
"Hey,Jin." Kate smiled..wich wasn't something she'd done very much of lately. Her back was feeling a lot better,but certain movements still hurt like hell. She sat down on the couch,trying her best not to show any pain as she did so. But it was apperent to Jinny that it didn't exactly feel good.
"Cap are you okay? Did you do something to your back?" Jinny looked worried about it.
"I'm fine...it's nothing bad."She answered vaguely. "So how are you?"
Jinny gave Kate a look like she didn't believe her. "Cap it doesn't look like nothing to me. Did you get it checked out by a doctor?" Jinny asked.
"Yes mom I got checked out by a docter." Kate said Sarcastically
"Okay,sorry for trying to look out for one of my friends."Jinny sighed,and decided to back away from that line of questioning
"No, Kate said, "I am sorry, I shouldn't have said that." Kate decided to change the subject so she asked Jinny, "So how was the honeymoon?"
Jinny nearly blushed, and said, with a sly smile, "It was great! Never knew there were so many different possitions to do it in,until
my honeymoon!"
"Thats what honeymoons are for."Kate raised her eyebrow.
Jinny asked, "You remember your honeymoon? And I thought that was in the 'DARK AGES ?"
"The dark ages were just last week."Kate thought to herself. "Yeah,well,this old fart,still has a very good memory."She smirked
Speaking of honeymoon's and all, "How are you, and Louis doing?"
"Uh...actually, we broke up."Kate looked around the room,"So uh...How's Teddy?"
"Uhh," Jinny started, Teddy's great. But what about you? This must be hard that the two of you broke up?
"I'm okay..."She sighed. "It's uh...it's been an adjustment....So,when are ya coming back to work? Everybody misses ya."
"Uhh, In couple more days," Jinny said, trying to figure out what was going on. "How did you hurt your back again?" Jinny asked hoping to get an answer this time.
"Uh...I uh...was...moving furniture,and...pulled a muscle."
Kate was hiding something. Jinny could tell, but she wasn't sure what. "What kinda meds did the doctor give ya for your back pain?" Jinny asked sliping into cop mode.
"Uh..."Kate had an idea of what Jinny was doing." He,uh, just told me to keep ice on it,and take it easy..."She glanced around the room again,she couldn't look one of her best friends in the eye,and lie too her.
Jinny could since that Kate didn't want to talk about it. "What's really going on Cap? Did Louis hit you again?"
"No!!"Kate yelled,not even looking at Jinny at all. "No...He didn't hit me." She lowered her voice. "He did more then that." She thought.
Jinny nodded her head. "Oh...Okay. So then Jinny asked, "How did you hurt your back? IF, it wasn't louis."
"I told you! I pulled it while I was moving furniture!...Y'know I didn't come here to be interogated,Jinny! I came here to see you!"
Jinny looked down, "I 'm sorry cap! I didn't mean to do that..It's just that...that, I am worried about you."
"There's nothing to be worried about Jin. I'm fine. Really. I just decided that things weren't gonna work between me and Louis..and that has nothing to do with my back."She sighed. "Really,I'm okay. i swear."
"Okay" Jinny said, but she still didn't by it. "So tell me about that family heirloom that you gave me."
Kate smiled, "Oh, that."
"Yeah Jinny said, "That? You said in your note it was good for something...What's that?"
Kate tiltted her head, and with another smile said, "Well it's really good to throw at your husband when you're pissed at him! The ugly thing doesn't break!"
Jinny burst into laughter."So,how many times,have you thrown it at Louis?" She asked in between cackles.
"Oh,I lost count a looong time ago."She smirked.

OMG! OMG! I can't believe it! It's happening! It's finally happening! it's freaking happening! I'm making the next post! OMG! I hope ppl are still reading! And that the wait was worth it for ya! Let us know if you're reading and what ya think! Here it is....

"Okay,I'll see you tomorrow."Jinny gave her captain a quick hug. Kate hope Jinny didn't notice her flinch from the small sharp pain that shot through her back,but She did. She also noticed what felt like a large bandage near the center of her back. Jinny didn't ask anything,She figured Her friend would talk about it when She was ready. She prayed it would be soon. She was worried.
"Bright and early. I'll notice if you're late." Kate winked.
"Oh,I know ya will." Jinny chuckled. Jinny watched as Kate slowly walked down the hall to the elevators. With a sigh,She went back into her apartment and shut the door once she was out of sight.

Kate sat in her car outside of Jinny's apartment building,with tears streaming down her face. She hated lying. Especially to Jinny.And She knew that Jinny buy her story. And that She'd felt the bandage through her shirt. She knew at some point Jinny would learn the truth.And She hated Louis for that. He didn't just hurt her. He hurt Jinny. Why then? Why on Jinny's wedding night? Why at all??? Those questions had run through Kate's mind ten billion times since it happened. She hated Louis for hurting her,and He continued to hurt her,because of him all She did lately was lie to her friends. She now had this huge dark secret. And She felt ashamed. She now understood how all those women could think that in some way it was their fault. Kate wasn't so much embarrassed that She'd had the hell beat out of her by her boyfriend,it was that She hadn't been able to defend herself. She was a cop...a police captain for God's sake! She'd seen hundreds of abuse cases and like all of those women,She'd been duped into forgiving him. Louis had even gotten her questioning her own abilities as a cop. I couldn't defend myself from one ass hole, how the hell can I protect an entire city?? She thought. She was so deep in thought that when a knock came at her car window It startled her. A terrible pain shot through her back when She jumped. Nearly out of her skin. She looked out the window ad saw a tall dark figure. She realized it was Teddy,when He spoke to her.
"Kate?" He knocked again.
"Hey." She quickly wiped her eyes,and forced a smile,as She rolled down her window. "How are ya?""
"I'm good. Sorry I startled you...." He suspected that She'd been crying " Hey,are you okay?"
"Yeah,I'm fine." She forced another smile.
'You sure? You look like you've been crying."
"Positive. No, My eyes were just watering really bad. thanks for asking though."
Teddy didn't buy it,but He left it alone. "Okay,well...ya coming up? Have dinner with us. I got Chinese."
" Maybe some other time,thanks. Actually I was just leaving."
"Oh,sorry I missed ya."
"Yeah,me too."
"Well,I won't hold you up anymore,See ya tomorrow."
"Yeah, good night." Kate rolled up her window,and started her car.

Get off of me!!" She screamed. She prepared herself for a very hard punch, and it didn't come. "Louis, No, please! Louis, Please!" Tears streamed down her face when she realized what he was going to do. She tried to push him off of her, and that's when she got the punch she'd been expecting. "Louis, please don't! Please!" She pleaded as she tried to stop him from ripping open her shirt. She took yet another punch, which caused her more pain in her back
"Louis please! No,Please don't! Please!" Kate pleaded.She sat up light a bolt of lightning.Her heart was pounding as She looked around the dark room,and realized She'd had the nightmare again. "Damn it!"She exclaimed. She got out of bed,and grabbed a pillow and blanket. It had almost become routine.Got to bed,have nightmare,go sleep or at least try to on the couch. She looked over at the clock on the bedside stand. 5:00 am. She knew by the time she was able to go back to sleep it would be time to get up. Rolling her eyes,She tossed the pillow and blanket on the bed,and went downstairs. She turned on the coffee pot,and after finding absolutely nothing on TV She decided to reread yesterday's paper.She still had two hours before She had to get ready for work.


Kate had just finished a lunch meeting at Anchorside when She walked into the bullpen,and saw Louis Parillo sitting in her office. 'What the hell is he doing here??"She said...not realizing She'd said it out loud.
"He said He hates to bother you at work,but He really needs to talk to you."Raina explained,with a somewhat confused expression.
"Something wrong,Cap?"Jinny noticed her hesitation to go into her office.
"Nope. Fine. Good."Kate sighed and went into her office,closing the door behind her.

"Kate."Louis smiled awkwardly as He stood,and decided to take a stab at hugging her. The attempt failed miserably."Louis what the hell do you want?"She refused the hug,and stepped back to further the distance between them.
"I wanna talk to you."He took a step closer.
"Well I don't want to talk to you."She snapped,as She stepped around him,and walked to the door.
"Kate,I'm sorry,I- -"
"I don't care!"
"Why wont you listen to me???"
"Because there is nothing you can say,that I'm willing to waste my time listening to."She reached for the knob,and He pulled her hand away.
"Please just hear me out- -"
"No."
"Kate,I'm sorry,please forgive me! I never- -"
"It would be a lot easier to forgive you if you'd stay away from me,and stop reminding me of what happened!" She reached for the door knob again,and He grabbed her wrist.
Louis decided to try playing the 'Amanda card' "Are you gonna tell Mandy about- -"
"Hell no!!"Kate exclaimed,"She'll never know if I can help it! It would crush her!"
"Well what happens when She comes to visit? She's gonna want to know why you wont have anything to do with me."
"When that time gets here, I'll grit my teeth,and force myself to be civil to you.But until then, I don't have to be anywhere near you,nor will I!"She glared at him scornfully as She jerked her hand loose,and reached for the knob again."Get out of my office!"
"Not till you hear me out!"He slapped her hand away. Kate could feel everyone looking in the he windows,and She was so very embarrassed.

When She glanced out everyone quickly looked back at their work,or the other way. Jinny did as well,but not immediately. She didn't care...in fact She wanted Kate to know She was watching.
So far Nate was the only one for the most part ignoring the goings on in his Captain's office...that is till He saw Louis stop her from opening the door yet again. Then his attention was glued to them.

"How dare you come here,and practically trap me in my office!! I have work to do! And you are making a scene!"Kate reached for the knob again,and this time,Louis took her by the shoulders and moved her away from the door. "I'm not trapping you anywhere! I just want you to hear me out!"
"I have Louis!"She tried to free herself from his grasp."I've hear you say you're sorry a thousand times! Let go of me!!"
Louis moved his grasp from her shoulders to her wrists. The harder she tried to free herself,the tighter his grip got.
"Ow! Louis, let go!" She tried to twist her wrists loose, but his grip was so tight she couldn't move them. "...please!"

Seeing this, Jinny decided it was time to but in,but before She could even get up,Nate was already in the office.

"Hey,Cap, have you heard anything about the warrant for..."Nate starred the shorter man directly in the eye,silently warning him."Oh sorry..Am I interrupting?"
"No. Not at all."Kate smiled. Secretly it was a smile of relief.
"I uh...was just leaving..."Louis sighed as He let go of her. "Bye..."He mumbled as He left.
"Nate...could I ask you for an odd favor?"Kate loathed having to ask...but She knew it was probably a good idea.
"Shoot."
"Could you uh...follow him...make sure He leaves,please?"
"Sure..."He said,His voice full of concern.
"Thanks a lot....and uh...be discrete about it..."
"No problem."


"Hey!"Nate called as He made his way over to Louis.
Louis ignored him and unlocked his car door.
"Hey!"Nate grabbed his shoulder.
"What do ya want?"Louis shook his hand off.
"Look I don't know what's going on with you and Cap but- -"
"And it's none of your damn business."
"You're right. What ever you were arguing about is none of my business. But I'll say this. No man should ever mistreat a woman. And whenever I see some ass whole mistreating his wife or girlfriend or whoever,I don't like it and I make it my business. Especially if that woman is someone I highly respect and admire."Nate explained calmly and started to walked away.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
Nate turned around and glared at him,"You know what it means."
"Is that a threat?"
"It's a very sincere promise."

Kate made her way through the bullpen trying desperately to ignore the curious and concerned stares from the officers and inspectors under her command. She went over to the coffee pot,and as She poured herself a cup She could feel everyone looking at her,and heard the whispers. Glancing out the window, She saw Nate walk up to Louis.He said something to him. She had a pretty good idea what it was about. She was both flattered and humiliated. She went back to her office. On the way,She heard a few more whispers,and caught a few more glances.
"People,there are far more important things to discuss. Your cases for example." She said calmly,and continued into her office,shutting the door behind her. She stayed there for nearly the rest of the day.

The day had come to an end,but it hadn't come soon enough for Kate. With a relieved sigh,she shut off the light and closed the door behind her.
"G' night." She said as she made her way through the bullpen. Once again dodging all of the curious stares from her inspectors and officers.

The second Casey saw the redhead that'd been on his mind ever since his partner Emma had told him what Raina told her,He excused himself from the conversation he was having a fellow officer,and rushed to her.
"Did He hurt you??" He asked.
"Hello,to you too." Kate replied.

"Well?"
"Keep your voice down." She took her self appointed bodyguard's hand and guided him to a more private area of the hallway.
"Did He hurt you?" He demanded again.
"I see word got around." She sighed.
"Yeah word got around. Word has it that Nate had to physically remove - -"

"That's an exaggeration." Kate interrupted. "Nate came in,and pretended to accidentally interrupt - -"
"Interrupt what exactly?"
"He didn't attack me or anything. He was in my office when I got back...He wanted me to hear him out."She rolled her eyes."He blocked the door,and wouldn't let me open it. Nate came in when He grabbed my wrists and wouldn't let go."
Casey quickly took her hand and pulled up her sleeve,to find a slight bruise around her wrist." He held you that tight?!"
"Shh! Lower your voice."She looked around to see if they'd caught anyone's attention."It's not as bad as it looks."

Three files in one hand,a can of Dr. Pepper in the other and a granola bar sticking out of her mouth, ,Jinny was more then ready to head home for the day. Now all She had to do was make it to her desk without dropping the files and spilling their contents all over the floor. This, at the moment,seemed to be a feat much more difficult then catching robbers ,murderers and rapists. Sighing,she sat down her Dr. Pepper and added the other four files laying on the table to her stack,and carefully made her way out of the break room, Files and Dr. Pepper in hand,and granola bar in mouth. She spotted an unusual sight. Her brother and her captain were talking . She paid it no mind, until She got to the break room door,and caught part of the conversation.
"Come stay at my place tonight." She heard Casey insist.
Highly intrigued She took a step back,hoping to remain unseen.
"No,I'm fine."Kate smiled slightly at his protectiveness. It was comforting. She didn't know what She would've done without him in all this mess. "I'll be okay."
"Then let me stay with you tonight."
"Casey,I'll be fine."
"The last time I listened to you,that bastard...."He looked to the ground,and finished the sentenced with a deep sigh.
"Damn it,Casey! Stop blaming yourself for that. It wasn't your fault."
"If I had insisted- -"
"It would have only delayed it and you know it. I had no idea that it was going to happen,how could you?"
"Fine. You're right,but I just can't help but think that..."
"We can't change it. Don't dwell on it. You were there when you were,and that's all that counts."
" Yeah..."Casey nodded slowly. "At least let me follow you home,and check the place out." He pleaded.
"Casey you're overreacting. I'll be okay. If He's there I'll call you." If He's there,She thought,What if He's there?
"Yeah,well..."He shrugged.

Kate sighed,and placed a hand on his cheek,"All right. If it'll put your mind at ease..."
"It will."
"Okay,then." She kissed his other cheek. "I still think you're overreacting,though." She thought she was overreacting herself. She was angry at herself for letting Louis get to her,and being afraid to go home alone. "Come on,lets go."
Casey put his arm around her,careful not to hurt her wounded back,as They made their way down the hall to the elevators.

What happened when !?!?! Jinny screamed in her mind. She wanted desperately to know,but she wasn't sure if She should confront one of them or when. She was worried sick about her captain.

"Are ya sure ya don't wanna stay with me?" Casey asked as He opened her car door for her.

"Casey,don't push it."Kate replied as She got in." I'm letting you check the place out aren't I?"
"All right." He sighed.
"But I do really appreciate your protectiveness a lot." She smiled.
"Nobody messes with my friends." He smiled back. "I'll see ya in a few."

"Okay."
Casey shut her car door for her,as She started the car. He watched her back out of the parking space,unaware that He,himself was being watched.

He watched as Casey made his way to his car,and got in. He saw Kate waiting to pull out onto the highway and thought about trying to talk to her again...till He caught sight of Nate who was glaring at him like a mad bull ready and more than willing to charge. Nate turned and walked to Kate's car.

"Hey.." She said as She rolled down the window.

"Hey...uh...listen..."Nate replied," I thought ya might wanna know that He's here."

"Who?" Kate asked,hoping he wasn't referring to Louis.
"Uh..that guy...in your office today..."
"Oh God..." Kate punched her dashboard in frustration.
"He was watching you and Casey talking."
"Thanks for telling me."She sighed.
"I can uh..talk to him,if ya want me to..."
"No,I'll handle it. Thank you though."

"No problem."
"And thanks for earlier too."
"That was no problem too." Nate flashed a quick smile. * I'll see ya tomorrow."
"Bye." Kate rolled up her window,and before pulling onto the street,she pulled her cell phone and dialed a number.

"Hello?"
"Hi." Kate snapped.
"Will you hear me out now?"
"Louis, I swear, if you don't stay the hell away from me, I will get a restraining order put out against you!!" She yelled. " And stop hanging around the division!"
'I didn't- -"
"Bull**** Louis! I'm looking at you in the rear view mirror!" She waved at him." I swear,for you're own good,you had better not show up tomorrow!" She stated and hang up the phone. He tried to call her back,but She'd already blocked his number.


"Casey,do you really think you need your gun?"Kate asked,as the handsome blond cop pulled his gun.
"Need it? No. I could beat his ass with one hand tied behind my back."
Kate grinned at that. It was a site She wouldn't mind seeing.
"But...' Casey continued,unlocking the door,with his free hand," If He's in here,I will arrest his ass. And When He makes bail,I will kick his ass."
Kate chuckled as they went inside.' He's basically a dead man walking. She thought. She tossed her keys on the table by the coat tree,and then hang her coat,and purse up. " Ya want something to drink, or eat?" She asked. First peaking into the kitchen, and looking around before going in.
"No,thanks."He called from the top of the stairs.
Kate grabbed a beer out of the refrigerator and headed upstairs as well.
"Kate!" Casey called from her bedroom.
Kate rushed in, "What?"
" I thought You threw this away." He pointed to a photo of Her and Louis together sitting on the dresser. Not the dresses Louis had shoved her against. She'd gotten tired of staring at it and the blood stain that refused to be washed away, and threw it away.
"I did." She mumbled. Louis had been there at some point that day. They both thought. And He had to have rescued that photo from a trip to the city dump. "That's not the same frame." She added.
"Son of a bitch!" Casey exclaimed. "Pack a bag. You're going home with me tonight!" He checked all the window and door locks. It turned out that the bastard was pretty good at covering his tracks.
With a sigh, Kate pulled her duffle bag from the closet. She tossed in her favorite pair of Pajamas. The ones with the leopard print top and black pants. An outfit for the next day and her make-up bag. She decided She'd just pile her hair into a clip. "Come on,lets go."
"I'm changing the locks again."Casey stated,carrying her duffle bag to the car.
