Just because the media doesn't offer 24/7 coverage on an entertainer doesn't mean the entertainer has fallen out of fashion. Hype does not guarantee the worth of an artist. Look at Black Sabbath. It's been only in the past 10 years that they've been acknowledged as one of the greatest bands on the planet.
Critics hated them ever since they began. But I always knew they rule. Not dissing Beyonce nor singing DG's praises, I don't even follow that stuff, but isn't it a little bit like comparing apples to oranges, or mangoes to tangerines?

I actually hate Carson Daly, but I watch it for my favorite acts like Britney, Christina, Jay Z., 50 Cent, N' Sync (I'll forgive 'em for letting an old hag opening for them), and THE MOST TALENTED & SEXIEST DIVA: Beyonce'. (along with Destiny's Child, of course) :)

Not to mention Debbie Gibson is not cool & she's old enough to be all 75% of TRL's audience parent.

If anything sucks it's Mtv, they haven't been good since they had Adam Curry and the Top 20 Countdown, I bet my life on it that you don't even know who Adam Curry is. Mtv has become a sanctuary for talentless teens and rap crap they don't even show artists with talent anymore. Thank god I have VH1 Classic to remind me what real talent was all about.

I also remember when MTV showed videos 'round the clock. Then they introduced "Remote Control" (a show I liked, actually, but didn't belong on the network) and all hell broke loose. It was in the late '80s and into the early '90s the network began to lose touch with what it was originally about. Damn shame.

I have no problem with Beyonce or Destinys Child in fact I like them I even bought Kelly Rowland's CD today, but what I do have a problem with is putting down one artist to try to make another look good. There is no reason to compare Debbie & Beyonce.

Now I haven't followed DG's career like many, but I know that some people take offense to a person calling Debbie Gibson a no-talent has-been just because her mug isn't on MTV 24/7 every 5 minutes. Maybe she moved on from the visibility MTV provided back then because she WANTED to move on from being considered an "MTV" pop star. News flash, but people's music careers HAVE flourished without MTV, even before
MTV came into existence. If Debbie is harsh to current trends and pop stars, you ever think she does with GOOD REASON?? Why should all the Britneys and Christinas and all the reigning teen pop queens be held above reproach today? Maybe when DG was popular on MTV, she didn't have to rely on being a salacious Lolita type to have a following.
Why do we glorify everything that others condemn? We tell people that age, beauty, looks, skinnyness, trendiness, bed-readiness, etc. are not the most important things in life and should not be the most desirable things. Then MTV comes along and tells us otherwise. Excuse us for not sharing your sense of humor, but MTV has you DUPED. Would you appreciate that if anyone said that about Beyonce?

Why do we glorify everything that others condemn? I wasn't about to respond any further to BF's comments, seeing they were too stupid to bother with, but here you have a good example of a person like Karly having an interest in a decade that others seem so into bashing. For the past ten years, everyone was into knocking the decade that brought us MTV and trippy fashions and music, and now we have succeeded in making people INTERESTED in the decade.
