View Full Version : Please Help Me Catch A Killer
Ms. X 04-09-2003, 05:03 PM I wrote to Johnny cause he said he had a lot of eposodes on tape, but he hasen't gotten back to me yet. Anyway, I got to thinking that maybe one of you have seen the episode that I am desperately searching for. I hope you can help.
I KNOW I KNOW THIS GUY.........
When I was younger I saw an eposode of unsolved mysteries that was about a white guy that ran a car off the road. They said he was probally a racist and ran the car off the road cause the kids in it were black. They were coming home from thier prom and I know that one of them died, if not more. It showed a sketch of the white killer and I remember thinking that he looked exactly like a guy my brother knew, but I never gave much more thought to it. ( I live on a little island and this had happened somewhere in the states I think, so I thought, no way, it couldn't possibally be him)
Years later my brother got drunk and told me that his friend had told him he had been on unsolved mysteries, wanted for murder. He told my brother that he had lived in many places in the US and Canada, had robbed 2 banks and had run those kids off the road on their prom night.
My brother said he didn't know anything else about it, and has kept his mouth shut tightly to this day. His friend, (the one I believe is the killer), has been in and out of jail his whole life, for assult, fraud, burglary and countless other charges. I can't tell you his name, because I will fear for my safety.
If I had know for sure when I saw the show that it was him I would have payed more attention to details, but I didn't. Did any of you see this episode? There was one witness that saw everything and he said that the white guy in the other car was the ugliest dude he ever saw (if you saw this guy you would agree!)
I looked up old shows on the episode list and I think it's episode 57 that aired in Jan, 1990. It's the only one out of all of them that seemed to fit what I was looking for, but unfortunately it did not give much detail.
If you have seen an episode like the one I described, do you know the name of the person that was killed and where he was from?
I know the killer, and I really want to help the victims family get justice. I only wish I had started this search years ago, but I won't dwell on that now, what matters now is that this guy is put behind bars for what he did.
I looked over some of the posts, you seem like a lovely group of people, I really hope you can help.
Mijada 04-09-2003, 06:47 PM I remember seeing that story. Unfortunately I only remember seeing it once and don't remember any names of the people involved or where it took place. One thing I do remember was the guy that ran the kids off the road was driving a Monte Carlo.
Ms. X 04-09-2003, 06:59 PM Thanks for the quick response. Every little bit of info helps, I really appreciate it!
I wish I could get in touch with the family of the victim, I bet they must think that the killer will never be found. I know who the killer is, and I can't help cause I can't find them. It's very frustrating!
Monte Carlo, my brothers friend did own a monte carlo but he also owned alot of different cars, he used to steal them.
I am really a good person, by the way, I am nothing like my brother and his friends, just wanted you all to know that .
FanfromES 04-10-2003, 02:14 PM HI
Its the first time that i see something like this in this forum, its great that our common interest can be useful for somebody.
You could help emailing your info to UM or the police from a dummy email address (if you dont want them to know your ID), i think there has been a lot of cases solved for anonymous callers.
Dont worry for what we can think of you, youre a good person since you want to help the victims.
Good Luck.

Ms. X 04-10-2003, 09:43 PM Thanks to those of you who have repiled to this thread so quickly. I sent a tip into the UM email address and I sent an email to the police department. One of your members emailed me off line and she thought the crime happened in greensboro NC so I emailed the police there. I hope everything works out. I hope I have the info they need to solve the case.
I'll keep you all posted. you've been a great help to me, more than you know.
PEANUT BUTTER 04-20-2003, 08:59 PM LISA, KUDOS TO YOU FOR HAVING THE HEART AND COURAGE TO SEND A TIP.
PLEASE LET US KNOW THE OUTCOME!
dynoguy88 04-23-2003, 10:08 PM Hi Lisa.
I remember this case was from one of the earlier seasons. I can't remember the victim's names, but I do remember that the car the killer was driving was a monte carlo. (the car was light blue in the Unsolved Mysteries segment, but I'm not sure if was in real life or not.) Also, there was a woman in the passenger seat. After they caused the accident, they both got out of the monte carlo and stared at the upside down car with the four boys in it for a minute or so. Then, being the cowards they were, got back in their car and sped off.
And a correction, the 4 boys weren't returning from the prom. They were going Christmas shopping. It happened in December, but I'm not sure about the year. Some time in the 80's obviously.
I wish I could remember more details about the case, but I haven't seen it in a while and it's one of the very few Unsolved Mysteries segments that I don't have on tape. If I see it again, I'll be sure to come back here and post. And if I remember anything later, I'll be sure come back here with the info.
I admire your heart, desire and courage to help with this case. I hope everything works out. Keep us posted.

Ms. X 04-27-2003, 04:09 PM Thanks to everyone who has responded so far! You are truly a wonderful group of people. One of your members has sent me the tape of the episode in the mail. So I should get it this week. I still haven't heard from the police or UM in regards to my emails, but I'll keep you posted. Thanks!
Also. I would like to remove my name from the posts, but I had trouble doing it. If one of the Mods can do it great. I should have used a different user name I suppose. Well, anyway, can you see what can be done? I think in the long run it is kind of dangerous for me to have my name here.
Thanks again to all of you!!!!!!!

crystaldawn 05-09-2003, 08:06 AM Hi! Just wanted to let you guys know I've been in contact with Ms. X concerning the case where she might know who ran those guys off the road resulting in their injuries and the death of one of them. She said she received a call from a sheriff in North Carolina and they talked for a while. He was going to pass on the information to the investigator and hopefully try to get an arrest. He said he'd let her know if there was an arrest and if I hear any more information I will pass it on to you!
dynoguy88 05-09-2003, 10:25 AM Thanks crystaldawn!

crystaldawn 08-08-2003, 09:25 AM Hi! I just wanted everyone to know that I got an email from "Ms. X" today after she read some new posts about the story. She wanted me to tell everyone she really appreciates everyone being so supportive of her and she hasn't heard back anything since speaking to that police officer so she assumes the case is still open. She does feel so much better since she came forward though. Hopefully it will be solved soon!
SJP1313 08-08-2003, 01:47 PM INTERESTING... KEEP US UPDATED. PLEASE!!
Mr. Roboto 11-03-2003, 11:09 PM This case was featured tonight. Has there been any further updates to the case thanks to Ms. X?
crystaldawn 11-07-2003, 11:31 AM I get an occasional email from "Ms. X" and last I heard she had a phone interview with the police in North Carolina and hadn't heard from them anymore. I certainly hope he pays for what he did, but at least he is currently in jail for something else.

A report from Great Britain on the unexplained creation of odd-shaped wheat and corn crops. Also: the disappearance of a Chicago writer who went to Colorado to write a mystery novel; a black North Caroline teenager's death, reported to be racially motivated
Ms. X said this was the one, and you sent me the corn crop case on one of the tapes. :)
clead23 03-16-2006, 02:04 AM does anyone know if there was any update on this case
nohwheregirl 03-16-2006, 04:17 AM One of the survivors of the attack visited the board a few months ago and said that there have been no updates in the case. That is, except to say that he and all the remaining survivors are doing fine. I don't know if anything has happened since then.
levern71 09-12-2010, 03:40 PM Hello Ms. X,
Please report any info that you have. I was the driver of the car that was run off the road. It was 1989 and we were headed to Crabtree Valley mall for Christmas shopping. I know it's been a long time, but I live with circumstances every day.
Thank you.

According to the UM segment, the names of the victims were Levern Allen, Darius Bannerman, Ken Dungee, and Ken Newkirk, and the incident took place on 12/23/88. It was also mentioned that the car was, in fact, a light blue MC.
phmcak 08-31-2011, 10:09 PM I am the woman who started this thread years ago, I still cant believe this thread is still here.I did the best I could and helped police the best I could. My heart still goes out to everyone who was in that car & I wonder did any of you find peace with it all. I hope you are able to find some peace, and my heart and thoughts are with you. I cant believe how much support I received from all of you. I never heard anything about an arrest in this case, but my heart i still believe he was the killer.

Todd Mueller 09-01-2011, 10:11 AM Im sorry i have no good news to share my heart goes out to you. I feel so bad I was of no help
You need not feel bad about this personally. I'm just happy you came forward to try and help. We all feel bad there has been no justice for the victims, but you should feel good in knowing that you tried to help.
Cheers.
TheCars1986 09-02-2011, 01:34 PM I never heard anything about an arrest in this case, but my heart i still believe he was the killer.
Other than an uncanny resemblance to the police sketch, was there any other evidence tying the man you think is responsible to the actual crime itself? Like was he in the area at the time, has he confessed to more people, did he own a Monte Carlo, etc.?
sjajustice 05-22-2013, 08:52 PM HI :) I know it is 2013, but I have made it my PERSONAL mission to find the scumbag that ran my dear friends & now husband off the road in 1989. Have U heard from the Sheriff? Can u please pass on the name of the person you talked with. I am following up on this & WE WILL GET JUSTICE! There is No statute of limitations on murder, so we can still make this guy and the lady that was with him pay for their crime. Please respond & let me know if you have heard anything at all. If anyone else on this thread has information please reply to this message and together we can get justice for these young men that had theirs lives forever changed by such an Evil person. They will never be the same. Thank U and God Bless. I will never give up on finding the driver of that Light Blue Monte Carlo. EVER!

I had a few conversations with Ms. X back in the day but haven't heard from her in years. She didn't give me any names but thought the driver looked a lot like a friend of her brother's. I do know that she did come forward and believe had a phone interview with the pd where it happened. Its frustrating that he's never been caught but my guess is there's just not much evidence out there to conclusively prove who it is. Especially with it being so many years later and memories of eyewitnesses beginning to fade. Lets hope his conscience gets to him and he confesses or he's serving a long prison sentence for another crime and is at least locked away.
