1. Why were the Ropers given their own show?
2.How did the producers get Norman Fell to do a guest appearance when they didn't let him return to the show after his spinoff failed.
3.Why Chrissy never did a phone scene with her own relative-Cindy Snow

1. The Ropers were given their own show, because the producers wanted to capitalize on Three's Company's success. They thought they could build up another hit comedy, but obviously they were wrong.
Thought: I think that if they followed up Three's Company with the Ropers, then it would've done MUCH MUCH better. But the one joke problem was a big problem.
2. Well the guest appearance in season 5 (i think), was probably to boost up the ratings, ya know, bring back some old faces. The Ropers couldnt return permanently because they made a deal, and also cuz they didnt need them.
3. I have no clue. Good question. I think that since Janet and Chrissy were best friends, then it would be right for them to talk? I dont know, Jack only talked once. I have no clue why. Kinda dumb if you ask me. But, I dont know. I guess the audience preferred Janet?
Hope I helped

I would have thought that Norman Fell would have declined to do a guest appearance since he was told he was no longer needed as a regular character. I wonder what made him agree to do the guest appearance.

Some actors realize the world doesn't revolve around them and do things because they like them. Norman Fell loved working with John Ritter. They didn't need him because they already had a character that had taken his place, and the ratings were holding up and I think Norman understood that. I'ven ever seen anywhere Norman said anything bad about the decision not to bring him back.

It's just still odd that Fell was told he was out of a job when his spinoff was cancelled and was then brought back for ONE episode a year later.LOL

Do you think the show would've changed if Don Knotts(Mr.Furley) didn't come on hte show and the Ropers never had their own sitcom?More or less shows?

Yes because Mr. Roper was very entertaining. Mr. Furley was OK. Yes it would have lasted much longer-1986-87

I doubt it. The cast was getting old...
