I dunno, but on the local Rock station I listen to they were talking about how radio stations were banning their records, and the DJ on the radio goes "Well, I can PROMISE you guys, there will be no Dixie Chicks played on 107.7 the X...." DarleneIllyria 03-19-2003, 12:50 AM I like the Dixie Chicks, but yeah, I'm afraid their career just went down the toilet. If radio stations aren't playing them anymore and if so many people are pissed at the comment, that means some will stop buying cds and tickets. It's a shame. They really had talent. I still like them and it was just one little comment and Natalie did apologize, so I'm not holding it against them. Unfortunately, others will. I'm afraid they just fell from the top. Adele 03-19-2003, 09:59 AM I keep hearing that the Dixie Chicks said something just awful ( ) about our president our country or something, but I haven't heard what? Anywayz, I'm sure it wasn't as big of a deal as everyone wants to make it, and I'm glad people in entertainment are voicing their opinions, instead of pretending to be brainwashed sick ****s who actually support Bush and are pro war.........I can't stand the Dixie Chicks, and I would be more than ok with the fact that their career was over, but I totally don't agree with it being b/c they voiced their opinion. That's ****ed up man, and definitely not "the american way"......whatever the hell that is anyway. *Mogwai* 03-19-2003, 06:06 PM People are just overreacting to what they said, there have been plenty of other artists that have said bad things about Bush. Rhiannon 03-19-2003, 06:51 PM A lot of the radio stations around here have stopped playing their songs *Mogwai* 03-19-2003, 08:39 PM None of the stations have stopped playing them here. ABlairican Pie 03-19-2003, 10:05 PM Did the Beatles' careers go down the terlit when John Lennon made his comment about the Beatles being more popular than Jesus? DarleneIllyria 03-19-2003, 11:15 PM Hey, now I have a question. What about tv stations playing their videos? CMT played their videos, of course. VH1 have played their videos. I haven't seen any of their videos in the last couple of days. I don't really get all that much of a chance to watch either channel all that much anymore, but I'm just wondering if the tv stations stopped playing them. *Mogwai* 03-20-2003, 12:24 AM Originally posted by Jenny Hey, now I have a question. I just saw their video today. Unwanted Angel 03-20-2003, 09:21 AM I agree with Natalie and what she said...I myself am embaressed to be from Texas. Jem 03-20-2003, 09:56 AM Originally posted by Belladonna did any one else hear about them saying they were embarrassed of George Bush being from Texas? Yeah, and I think they have every right to say what they did. (Freedom of speech). The President is not the king of the world, he is just a human being. Unfortunately, he is a human being with crazy war monger ideas. Pitooey 03-20-2003, 09:24 PM I agree with you Jem. All they did was express their freedom of speech. They should'nt be ostracize for it. It would be stupid for anyone to ban their music from TV & the radio. Brandon 03-20-2003, 10:06 PM Originally posted by Belladonna did any one else hear about them saying they were embarrassed of George Bush being from Texas? oh god... fans are taking it too seriously! It would be stupid for anyone to ban their music from TV & the radio. People have to realize at the time she said it, she was in London doing a concert and not a whole lot of people support Tony Blair's decision to go along with Bush's war plans. She most likely said it to keep people from thinking she agreed with the president and not have them go "Let's lynch the Yankees"... Maybe she was just pandering to them, I don't know. friend to IDOJ lover 03-21-2003, 12:51 AM yah i heard about them getting kicked out of the grand ole opry....that may just be a rumor...but i dunno Ricardos4ever 03-21-2003, 05:53 PM I love the Dixie Chicks. I am looking forward to attending their concert in few months. However, what they said was really, really stupid. I respect their right to free speech, but in this case it was cowardly saying what they said in another country. Whether you agree with the war or not (and I do believe that we have moral justification for going to war), you just don't go to another country and put down our leader. It is un-American. And somehow, George Bush is the one receiving all of the crap when people seem to forget that he is not the sole person who is making this war happen. If our government -- our elected officials -- did not support Bush's request for military action, we would not be having a war. This is war is what the government and the majority of the population wants. As for the Dixie Chick's career being ruined, I don't think that is necessarily true. I'm sure in time this will pass. People will forget what was said because it was just one incident and things will be back to normal. After all, they did apologize.
