OK, so you've met this girl on the net. You met on a bands website so you know you're both into the same kinda music and she gives you her email address. You email her a few times and, from what little you know about her, you seem to have quite a bit in common.
Then, after only 3 emails, she mentions the two of you "hooking up and going out sometime".
Does anyone else think this is a little wierd? Personally I wouldn't even bring up the subject of meeting someone whom I'd encountered on the net untill we'd been mailing each other for at least a month?? I've been mailing another girl I met online for over 3 years and we've only brought up the subject of a meeting once in passing!
Am I being too wary? Or am I right to think that this girl might be a bit dodgy?
Thoughts people?

Maybe it's me, but I would get to know someone extremely (note the emphasis) well before you meet them. It's different talking online than in real person. Maybe you two would like to talk on the phone first? I think that may be the first step.

I mean, people may not be who you think they are... they might be very different. Luckily that has never been the situation for me, Caitlin (Babes_Cat) and I have met and she is like the sibling God forgot to give me (translated as she's my best friend) So I guess it's really up to what you want to do.

3 e-mails? Yeah, I'd consider running in the other direction if someone brought up meeting that quickly.

That is my gut reaction too.
I'm not actually considering meeting her this soon but I would like to keep emailing her. I just thought that her mentioning a meeting at this early stage was a bit suspect and I'd be wary of continuing our correspondance if she's some kind of pushy, needy, obsessive nutter.
I was gonna mail her back tonight and just not mention the meeting thing and see if she brings it up a second time.
What do you think?

That's a good idea. If she brings it up again, I think she's a little too persistant. Scary.

I'd just keep talking to her online...maybe on the phone. If she constantly brings it up, then I would stop.

I would be wary of someone you've just met on the web trying to meet you in person. Keep your relationship strictly online for now.

That is so scary...they could be some 80 year old stalker...You really need to get to know someone before meeting them, and even then be wary... I would be suspicious of them if I was you

She seems to be moving just a little too quickly. I'd give it a few months. Perhaps, you should talk to her on the phone.

I emailed her last night - just general chit chat - and made no mention of her proposed meeting. I recived a reply from her, as I always do, first thing in the morning. It was very succinct - only a few lines. The last line was "I'm sorry to be so forward but you seem so cool! What do you think of us hooking up sometime?"
I putting on my running shoes and getting the hell outta this one! :seeya:
Why is that every woman (not there have been many) who expresses an interest in me always turns out to be a complete freak??!!! :(
