Major James Bond fan here & I'll preface this by saying- I *know* Connery is generally seen as the best Bond of all. He was the 1st & he did an amazing job. (you can already see where this is going!)...
BUT- he's not my favorite. He's #2 in my book. My favorite Bond of all is easily Roger Moore. Say what you will about him, but I think Moore had that..."English gentlemanliness" that all of the others lacked. (& He was the only true Englishman of the bunch!)
Sure there was lots of humor in his Bond, but who doesn't like humor? (although I'll admit *some* of it got silly in his series) I was a kid in the 70s & I think his Bond was very kid-friendly. (look at Moonraker. ie: Star Wars) "Spy Who Loved Me" & "Live & Let Die" are my 2 faves.
I also understand that Moore was Ian Fleming's original choice for the role, but he was unavailabe at the time.
Anyway, if anything, I think Moore's Bond car still beats the crap outta any of them before or since. The one from The Spy Who Loved Me that converted to a submarine. That 1977 design still looks cool today! (that 'invisible' one "Die Another Day" *was* kinda cool, but a liiiittle *too* far fetched.
