View Full Version : Do you think they should have the National Anthem before sports games start? RainMan 03-01-2003, 12:01 PM I don't think they should. It's pointless and it's just another delay to start the game. No offense if I'm offending anyone by saying that. I like the song I just don't like it being played at Sporting Events. I remember there was a whole big deal with it being played before a Sinead O'Conner show over 10 years ago, and she objected to that. People took offense to it, Un-American Irish bitch, etc., they all thought. But it did seem out of place to play it at a rock concert. But whatever happened to Sinead, anyway... I also remember when they brought out the Canadian maple leaf flag UPSIDE DOWN at a baseball game in Canada between an American team and a Canadian team (Blue Jays?)--it was the Americans who did this and it was a big mistake...:rolleyes: I don't know how ANYONE could get the idea that the leaf pointed downward. It seemed very disrespectful to the Canadian audience and showed American's ignorance. It reminds people of how appreciative they should be and it is a very respectful thing t o do.
