Don't know exactly-my feelings change so freakin' much it's not even funny. Although, I did come out to my brother-he was the first one I told and then my mom. Both of them don't really care so thats good. My dad would kill me if he knew and I just came out to my cousin today. He seemed a little shocked. He reacted very strangely to the news more than my mom did. I'm a little worried about him though because I'm really close to him and for some reason I think he sees me differently now. Oh well, what can you do? Chocoholic 02-28-2003, 01:49 AM Yes, there are a few openly gay and bisexual members here. I think you'll find that many of us here are open-minded and welcoming when it comes to homosexuality :) Unwanted Angel 02-28-2003, 01:50 AM  I'm Bisexual (but don't tell no one ;) ) pandora_spocks 02-28-2003, 01:52 AM Nice to know other people are too. ;) Rulie 02-28-2003, 01:59 AM Pandora I know how you feel. The hardest thing I've ever done is come out to people I care about. My friends were completely shocked because you really wouldn't ever suspect I was bi unless I told you. I'm sure you'll get up the courage to tell your dad, just like I will with my mom......eventually......when I'm in college......in another state.....miles and miles away.:) Thanks Kristen. Joyce I won't tell if you won't.;) pandora_spocks 02-28-2003, 02:02 AM Originally posted by Rulie Pandora I know how you feel. The hardest thing I've ever done is come out to people I care about. But then again, it's not like he ever listens to me anyway. Of course, if my cousin go blabs to his dad and mom then i'm in some serious crap-well, not really, but if word gets back to my dad he'll either kill me or throw me out of the house. He's tried choking me before I was maybe 9 or 10. But it had nothing to do with sexual preference. He just hates me, case closed. Oh well, what can you do? I'm glad your mother and brother are accepting of the situation. Sooner of later, it might be a good idea to tell your father. He'll come around eventually. My brother is gay. He's 33 now, but didn't come out until he was 25. He said it was the best thing he ever did. He was tired of living a lie. I swear he gets gayer and gayer everyday. Of course, I didn't tell my mom until I graduated and her mom was in the hospital and she was going on about this secret I know about her can't say what it is because I don't know who all reads this board, but anyway I told her right then and there. She said something like 'no?' and I said a serious 'yes' and she said, 'okay.' And that was it. My brother on the hand I told him maybe a month after I confirmed it. He said that he always suspected that I was. He knew before I did! LucyFan 02-28-2003, 02:12 AM I have no clue what I am at the moment but one of my friends says I am "bi-curious". Rulie 02-28-2003, 02:12 AM Are you serious? That sucks! He has no right to do that to you. Maybe he knows but would rather live in denial than face the fact that you could be anything other than hetero. My mom is kinda like that. I have this guy I'm dating (well sleeping with) and he used to come over all the time and hang out in my room. I'd even make comments just to see if she'd catch on but she never does. Or she has but just won't admit it to herself. Anyways, I hope you can work things out with your dad, babe. Now, when she goes through old magazies like allure, etc. she gives me photos of celebrities that I like. Tuscadero 02-28-2003, 12:52 PM I'm strait, but I would wager that about 1/3 of everyone I know is gay or lesbian...and I live in a small area. I think that's cool because it says to me that they feel ok coming out, and people really like them for who they are (which is not to say that they don't get made fun of at times, but from what I've seen people don't even care what their sexual preference is). I think that prejudices are easing up a bit and people are comfortable with being who they are and not "hiding," which is really great! :) Ewan's My Man 02-28-2003, 01:07 PM I'm straight...but I don't have a problem with ppl who aren't. Mossopp 02-28-2003, 05:30 PM I'm gay. I've known since I was about 16 years old (I'm nearly 21 now) but I only came out for the first time about 3 weeks ago. I told a close friend of mine who was really, really brilliant about the whole thing. A few other people know aswell but I don't care about them knowing cos they are gay too and I know they'll accept me. I'm still working-up the courage to tell my straight friends. I'm also extremely worried about my parents finding out cos they'd kill me - seriously! My mum has her suspicions (I think) but she won't discuss it because she's afraid of the rumours she's heard turning out to be true. If my dad knew he'd kill me - either that or he'd kill himself. I'm pretty ok with who I am. I'm past the denial stage now so I know that this is who I am and I can't change that. I still have a lot of issues to work through but I hope that, with the help of my other gay friends, I'll be able to make some progress towards being totally comfortable with everything. To all of you who said that you are having doubts about your sexuality I have a few words of advice - I know it's tough. Not knowing for sure who you are and who you're attracted to is a really confusing and scary situation to be in. I promise you though that it'll all work itself out in time. That's what it takes - time. You just need to be patient. There's no sense in beating yourself up about the way you feel or trying to force yourself to feel a certain way. Eventually it will all make sense, I promise you. Mossopp x x x *Marilyn Monroe* 02-28-2003, 05:31 PM I'm straight. I didnt know there were so many gay and bi people here. You know, lately I've been thinking about how many gay people I know...and how when I was in high school I didn't know any gay people. What that says to me is that being openly gay in high school must be very difficult. :( On the other hand, (and please, tell me if I'm out of line), how early do people begin to realize that they are gay? I fight with people all the time about being gay being "someone's choice," because I don't think it's a choice that you make. Mossopp 03-02-2003, 07:51 AM Originally posted by Tuscadero On the other hand, (and please, tell me if I'm out of line), how early do people begin to realize that they are gay? I fight with people all the time about being gay being "someone's choice," because I don't think it's a choice that you make. But then again, I'm strait so I can't say for sure. Sexuality is definately not a choice. You can choose whether or not to act on your feelings but you cannot choose the way you feel. Take myself for example - I didn't choose to have feelings for other women but for years I chose not to act on my feelings and keep it a secret cos I didn't want any $h!t from all the small-minded wankers in my crappy little town. I would never have even considered coming out while I was still in high school. I got enough hassle from people there cos of the way I looked and the fact that I never had a boyfriend. Other kids all thought I was gay and I got enough trouble cos of that. I dread to think what they would've done to me if they'd known for sure! As for your question about when do people start to realise they're gay, there is no answer to that cos it's different for everyone. I was 16 but I'd had feelings before then. My best friend was about 14 when she realised. Some people have known all their lives. It depends on the individual. But it's not like you just wake up one morning and think "Oh wait.........I'm gay!" It's a gradual thing and sometimes it can take a person years to finally admit to themselves that they are gay - denial plays a big part for a lot of people, myself included. Can I just say that I think this is a really cool, positive topic. Every time I see a thread about homosexuality on here it's usually full of haters spreading ignorance and arguing with everyone. This thread has been really pleasent and I'm glad that, not only are there so many other people here who are going through the same stuff as I did (and if any of you ever need to chat in confidence you can always PM me), but that everyone is really open and cool about it. Mossopp x x x Thanks for answering my questions, Mossopp. You're right, this is a very positive, open thread. I think the best way for people who are not gay to gain knowledge is to know the truth and try to understand those who are! :) Awareness works wonders. Anyway there was a man who "always felt like he was a woman", so he got a sex change operation. It turns out he liked the ladies. He said that he was "a lesbian woman stuck in a mans body". Mossopp 03-02-2003, 03:34 PM In no way do I advocate the use of 'personality tests' but I took the 'What kind of lesbian are you?' test mentioned previously and it said - You're a BOI. You're cute, fun, charming, and get girls. Hell, even gay guys think ur cute! I've never heard the term "BOI" before - I guess that must be an American thing. I'm kinda glad I got this result cos I was dreading it telling me I'm a dyke. All my gay friends say I'm a dyke and I hate that - I'm not that butch!!!!!! And some gay guys do think I'm cute so that was pretty accurate! ;) Faith 03-02-2003, 04:09 PM Originally posted by Mossopp You're a BOI. You're cute, fun, charming, and get girls. Ive had people through all grades think im gay, I guess its they way I act, I dont know. Sometimes I wanna scream in their face REALLY loud and tell them that I do like girls but I like guys too!!!!! But, I control myself at those moments. Mossopp 03-02-2003, 06:46 PM Originally posted by MaRtInA_GuRL Ive had people through all grades think im gay, I guess its they way I act, I dont know. Everyone in high school couldn't understand why I didn't have a boyfriend. I was asked out, but I always denied. I didn't have the heart or the guts to tell the guys who asked me out that I wasn't interested because I prefer girls. laceyinthesky 03-03-2003, 02:41 PM I'm definately straight.. just ask Ian ;) I was bored so I took the quiz anyway and here's what I got: You're the FEMME.
