Just curious on what people think of eating disorders. I don't have one, but everyone thinks I do. And no I'm not afraid to tell you guys my weight I bounce back and forth from 102 to 110. Everyone in my family thinks I'm either anorexic or bulimic. So I once passed out and stopped breathing when I came back from my trip from Florida and I was rushed to the hospital. The doctors kept asking me if I was anorexic. I don't know why people think I am.
I don't have a problem with people who do I mean thats their buisness and their life, but I like to stay average not anorexic and not fat. Okay, thats my rant.

I don't eat breakfast, I rarely eat lunch, so all the kids in school everyday screech "You're gonna turn anorexic!". I'm not even that light, though. I'm 5'3 and 108 pounds. Not exactly what you would call "light." I've had past bouts with Bulimia, but I had caught it before I had done any damage to myself. I really think that sometimes if I ate breakfast I could do better in school, but I'm sorry. I just can't eat that early in the morning. As for lunch, well yeah... I do skip that to keep my weight managed.. but I wouldn't go as far to say I'm an Anorexic. I'm far from it....

I never ate breakfast when I was going to school. I do now though, but that was way to early for me to eat and then I would feel like I was going to throw my food up anyway. I'm 5'2 so I'm about the same as you. I don't think I'm anorexic and just thinking about throwing up my food gives me the chills so I can't be bulimic either.

Well I'm 5'4 and I know if I weighed 108 pounds I'd be doin' a jig.

I don't have an eating disorder but I think one of my friends does. I've been so worried about her for the past 3 years.

kinda scary, and wrong. but, they CAN help you lose weight. it wouldn't be a good diet recommendation or anything... -- i used to be quite chubby, so i starved myself, and lost weight. and i look good now. i got myself to eat again, so it's all good.

Don't encourage people!!! Once you start it's reaaaally hard to stop. That goes with any type of eating disorder.. bulimia especially.

I always eat something for breakfast, but I can't stand the whole arbitrary bacon/eggs/potatoes kinda thing. Eat whatever. Well, within reason prolly. Don't do like I do on occasion and eat cold pizza and warm beer before church...Okay, maybe you can. My brother suprised me and told me he never eats breakfast. I like a whole package of oatmeal cookies and milk, myself. Best way to eat oatmeal.:liplick: :cow:

one of my close friends is recovering from an ED now, in middle school it seemed like they all did- i had two friends w/ bulima, three anorexic- one of which ended up in a mental hospital as a result.
eating disorders take over your life sooo fast, its just not a good place to go. it isnt worth it to risk your life over numbers on a scale and thin is extremley overrated.

I feel sorry for people who have eating disorders. I think the problem lies in the media and showing models and actresses that are skinny and then some people feel that they have to be that skinny to be as beautiful as they are. Eating disorders aren't the answer to losing weight. About a year ago I had a little bit of a big belly from consuming alot of apple juice. A nutritionist came to my school that year and told us that drinking water helps to flush toxins out of your system, whereas, juices build up weight. So, from that day foward, I've been drinking water and am at a healthy weight. I would never try to starve myself or make myself throw up to lose weight. Never! I have enough common sense to know that it isn't the right way to get to a healthy weight.

I personally dont have sympathy for people with eating disorders. Yah, Im sorry but for me its something that you can prevent. I never fell into peer pressure which is why I feel that way. Obviously if I had an eating disorder Id be singing a different tune. Yah Id love to have a body like Britney Spears, but Im not sticking my finger down my throat because of it. You dont like my body tough- I doubt Im trying to impress you anyways.

I think we should take all of those people with eating disorders and ship them all off to Countries in Africa, and let these poor, starving, people come over to the USA in their place SO THEY CAN GET A ****ING BITE TO EAT!!

I was about to go into a major rant there, but I decided to just leave it at that!

I don't see how people can make themselves throw up. Whatever floats their boat.

I'm glad you didn't go into a rant there cos I think you're being extremly insensitive.
On one hand I can see your point - there are people dieing of starvation in this world and someone who has food and chooses to starve themselves could be percieved as being self-obsessed and ungreatful. But there are a lot of underlying issues that people with anorexia and bulimia have that you are not taking into consideration.
I suffered from an eating disorder when I was a teenager. I didn't starve myself and throw-up what I did eat cos I wanted to be beautiful. I didn't look at women in magazines and on TV and think "I need to be as thin as them!" I already was thin!
When I was 15 I was 5ft 5ins and weighed 115lbs. Less than 9 months later I was still the same height but I weighed 88lbs.
I suffered from depression and I wanted to lose weight cos I felt that my life was out of control. I thought that, even though I couldn't control anything else in my life, if I could control something as simple as how much I weighed then I would have achieved something.
Losing all that weight didn't make me feel good physically - my periods stopped, my skin was so pale it was practically transparent, my clothes hung off me, I couldn't walk up one flight of stairs without having to sit down to rest - but it made me feel amazing mentally cos I felt like I had really acheived something. I'd regained control!
I'm better now - I'm 5ft6 and I'm 112lbs so I'm pretty much back where I started but I still can't eat anything unless I know how many calories are in it and I'm still slightly underweight. I only managed to get back on my feet thanks to the support I had from the people I was friends with back then. So any of you who have friends who suffer from an eating disorder - please don't give up on them! It may not seem like it but they do appreciate your concern and they can get better.
I'm sorry if I've depressed or freaked-out any of you with this post but I thought that you should hear an opinion from someone who's actually been there.

Thank you, for bringing back the point of this thread. I'm sorry that you had to go through that point in your life it must've been tough for you.

I think I'm obsessed with my weight because if I go above 107 I freak out and if I go below 100 I freak out so I have to be somewhere in between.
Since my wisdom tooth came in I've lost 5lbs because I'm afraid of eating something and having it bother my gums and such. I've just started eating again because the stomach pains I've been getting from not eating are driving me crazy, not to mention the dizzyness. I have to eat no matter what otherwise I end up passed out on the floor. I don't think I'm either really I'm just in between.

Sounds pretty light to me! I'm an inch shorter than you, and let's just say that I would make you look tiny. OK, I'm not huge, but I'm definitely not where I want to be. However, I would never be desperate enough to give myself an eating disorder. There's better ways to lose weight.

When I was a teenager (13-18) I had an eating disorder.. Its not because I looked in a magazine and thought to myself wow I want to be as skinny as her.. I was because I felt my weight was the only thing I had control over.
