View Full Version : Nancy or Nellie? ~Tropical Punch 19~ 02-24-2003, 03:26 PM WHo dpo u prefer? i like nancy better. i thought she was funnier and mroe evil....muahahaha! JK Cashodeen 02-25-2003, 07:12 AM lol-- I've been knocking the last few seasons a lot lately--their possible motives for moving the show in different directions and whatnot. But I do like Nancy. I found it believable and even clever how she was introduced to the show. But she wouldn't have existed if it weren't for Nellie, "The Original Rotten Girl." jayman75 02-25-2003, 04:31 PM Nellie, baby. Nancy was too whiney. She didn't have Laura to fight against. Nellie was more evil. Life was good then. :) Cashodeen 02-26-2003, 01:23 AM Originally posted by jayman75 Nellie, baby. Nancy was too whiney. She didn't have Laura to fight against. Nellie was more evil. Life was good then. Nellie has a more evil way about her because her vindictiveness would be concealed by her superficial sweetness whereas Nancy is just so hystercial you know she is a real mess. Although she could put on the charm as well, it was not done as convincingly as Nellie. Of course anyone with sense could be able to see through Nellie as well. Nancy's actions, however, are far more evil, infact very scary at times. I never thought Nellie did anything terribly dangerous. Nancy almost killed Belinda by locking the girl in the icehouse! Charge that little ----- with attempted murder! JDS84 02-27-2003, 10:03 PM Nellie. TV Guy 03-05-2003, 06:15 PM Nellie, due to better writing and Alison Arngrim's brilliant (and I do mean brilliant) performance. What other pre-teen could play the role like that? Nancy was just a whiny clone who couldn't hold a candle to the original bad girl of the prairie, Nellie. Nancy didn't seem nearly as clever as Nancy -- everyone saw through her act right away. Jack1000 03-26-2003, 01:40 AM Nellie easily! She should have won an Academy Award for her performance. Nellie knew how to turn on the "charm" and displace "false niceness" when she wanted to do so! Nancy was just evil all the time to the point of overkill and was brought in just to replace Nellie. (But no one could replace Nellie!) Nellie was just so much more cleaver and whitty. Nancy was just a vicious little beast ALL THE TIME! Nancy reminds me of Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. I mean Julie Dawn Cole who played Veruca was brilliant in that role. (She wasn't like that in real life at all) However, Veruca like Nancy was like the female anti-Christ from The Omen movies. Nancy was "margerine" compared to Nellie's "butter" and it showed! Nancy IMO was just a little too "Over The Top" mean. Jack Striel 03-29-2003, 05:50 PM I liked Nellie better. I thought it was stretching things a bit when they brought Nancy onto the show. Brady Fan 08-08-2003, 01:24 PM Nellie easy! Nancy just plain got on your nerves. And besides Nancy was just a made up character no in the book. Mr. Television 08-08-2003, 01:31 PM Nellie rlm1626 09-24-2003, 08:11 PM Actually, I like both of them pretty well, but Nellie would have a little edge in my opinion. She was the original nemesis of the Ingalls' kids, and made the role so popular that the show would've never been the same in her absence. So really she paved the way for Nancy to be brought in to fill those shoes. tanquant 12-05-2003, 03:03 PM I liked Nellie much better. Nancy's voice really got on my nerves. Rezny@gmail.com 06-18-2010, 06:50 PM Nellie. She was really mean at first, but toward the end after she had matured somewhat and she grew up,the character was a little more palatable, and compared to the bratty Nancy, who was like the flip side of Nellie, and unlike Nellie, was just a spoiled brat who never outgrew her brattiness. And notice that she WASN'T in the finale, nor was any mention made of the character.Whatever became of the actress who Nancy? catlover79 06-18-2010, 07:08 PM Nellie!!! But I did attend a LHOP fan event in Tombstone, AZ, which featured a good number of the surviving cast members. Alison Arngrim (Nellie) and Allison Balson (Nancy) even had their own Q & A Panel - "The Nasty Oleson Girls". It was a riot - especially when Alison took out two curly blond wigs from a shopping bag and the ladies wore them, posing for pictures. The crowd went wild!! Also, Allison Balson has become a folk singer/songwriter/guitarist. She performed a song she had written in honor of Michael Landon entitled "My Friend". Ironically, the date was July 1, 2005 - 14 years to the day of his passing. Allison is very, very petite. She can't be much more than 5'2" and when I shook her hand, it was so tiny mine almost engulfed hers!! Both "Oleson sisters" in real life are very sweet and approachable. :D Sterling Holobyte 06-22-2010, 12:38 PM Wow, Alison A. looks so "Nellie" in that last picture. Like she just stepped out of the show. catlover79 06-26-2010, 02:28 AM Wow, Alison A. looks so "Nellie" in that last picture. Like she just stepped out of the show. Yeah, she often breaks out the wig during personal appearances and the crowds just go crazy. :D angiefan 06-27-2010, 07:42 PM Nancy was Meaner than Nellie, You Hate Me! Nellie matured when she met, fell in love with and Married Percival Dalton. Nacy was Whiny,She reminds me of Veruca Salt in both Willy Wonka and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory,a real Brat,We never saw a real Catfight between Nancy and Cassandra, like we did with Laura and Nellie.I perfer nellie, because she matured. jehobden 07-23-2010, 01:22 PM Nellie by far. Nancy never got a chance to expand past her "You hate me!" self-pitying act. Though she may have missed the series finale, Nancy was very much in what I consider the final movie (even though it was the 2nd of 3 movies aired), Little House: the Last Farewell (where they blew up Walnut Grove). She was still pulling the same bratty act, even w/o Harriet there to indulge her, when Nels refused her a pet rabbit, since she'd already let another pet rabbit die. After that I was hoping that Nels would leave her in the Mercantile when he blew it up later! PracTz 07-26-2010, 08:34 AM Nellie easily wins the contest for me. Among other things that puts her over the top is the fact that, even at Nellie's worst, there never was any doubt that she actually did love Harriet whereas I can't think of a single bit of evidence that Nancy did- but just took advantage of Harriet's loving her to reap the bounty of being a spoiled rich girl.Nancy made me feel sorry for Harriet and that's not what Harriet was there for! |
