View Full Version : Did You Ever Get A Paddling In School? Rebel Queen 1980 02-13-2003, 03:33 PM Did You Get A Paddlin In School ?,If your state allows it and you did say yes,If they don't you can say no. Penny Lane 02-13-2003, 04:09 PM No, but it was common while I was in school. (50's-60's) My second grade teacher put tape on my mouth one day. I hated her! My husband got paddled several times. He said that he deserved it!;) And no, it is not allowed in Michigan as far as I know. *PinkLady* 02-13-2003, 04:15 PM I've never gotten one. I don't know if it's legal in Ohio, but I hope that it isn't. White_Daisy 02-13-2003, 04:54 PM Not in New York, but we used to in India. The teachers hated my brother because he was such a pain and of course, they all thought I was exactly like him. Soon (and after some unjust punishments) they realized I wasn't even though I was very opinionated...:D Classic FOL Fanatic 02-13-2003, 04:56 PM Nope. I don't think it's legal any state that I've lived in. XoVanillaRain90oX 02-13-2003, 04:57 PM Umm...nope. Crimson and Clover 02-13-2003, 06:33 PM never had a paddling but when i was like in third grade i had to wash my mouth out with stupid crap they used cuz i said superman looked gay. Halex 02-13-2003, 06:39 PM I never did. No-one at my school ever did, so I don't think it's allowed here in Regina. I don't think it's even allowed in Canada. If it ever was allowed in the past like the 60s, 50s, 40s, 30s or before, I wouldn't know. Georgia's on my Mind 02-13-2003, 07:57 PM OMG YES! Well not me in particular but from K-5th grade our principle kept a paddle and bars of soap in her office...yeah and she used them. I remember once someone scratched me by accident and she brought them into the office and screamed at them and made him put the bar of soap in his mouth...She was mean, but it did keep peopel disciplined. I'm sure there were alot more stories but I tended to stay away from her.... yeah and this was in the 90's so im pretty sure it was illegal...But she was a nun, so i guess she got away with it Moonlight Lady 02-13-2003, 08:02 PM Nope, never did, I don't think it was legal in either CT or NY. Kitt 02-13-2003, 08:03 PM Yes, twice and I got revenge on both of the perpetrators. I didn't expect it either time. The first time it was the grammar school principal. He made the mistake one day after that to yell at a bunch of us who were playing baseball on the school grounds. It was the first week of summer vacation. We had a right to be there and he had no right to try and chase us off. He got shouted down with words of every color by the bigger boys. He stomped off with steam coming out of his ears. We continued to play baseball. A most satisfying victory! The other paddler was one of my middle school teachers. He seemed to be an okay guy before that. His reasoning for doing that to me was so trivial that I couldn't believe he did it. I thought he must have been joking until I felt the sting of the paddle. I dont know... he must have been having trouble at home or something. I took matters into my own hands that time. I gave him a flat tire. I don't if he knew that I did that or not. Chocoholic 02-13-2003, 10:09 PM I've never been padled, but my 4th grade teacher would yell at kids and tell them they were stupid and not paying attention if we didn't give the right answer in class. Ewan's My Man 02-13-2003, 11:00 PM It's not legal here. And no...I never have. My grandpapa used to get hit b/c he would use his left hand to write. I'm glad they don't do that NEmore b/c I'm left-handed. Chad22 02-13-2003, 11:13 PM No, But my 4th Grade teacher strangled me once, True Story! ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 02-13-2003, 11:17 PM Umm..noo.. I went to school in the 90s. the 1990's. If they were to do that today, parents would be suing left and right for abuse. If you ask me, I think some of the lil kids need it! You didnt see the kids of the 50s acting like they are now. He also kicked a boy in the butt. I didn't go to a public grade school so I don't know if it was illegal or not. JDS84 02-15-2003, 07:13 PM No. °Bubbly Blonde° 02-15-2003, 07:39 PM No I never did anything wrong enough to get it, but in the fifth grade at the school I went to, ppl got paddled ALL the time and hard too. They were bad too..... My teacher did hit me on my butt once tho, I was stooping over to get something and he came from behind looked at mybutt and just hit me on the butt with his paddle! and he was joking he said but it HURT.... RWCTV 02-19-2003, 01:25 PM I got swatted by a paddle a couple of times and they were for things that I was falsely accused of doing. This all happened when I was in elementary school in the 80's. I went to a staunch Christian school and they did not fool around. Some girl named Debbie said that I said that I liked wine and I said that I didn't say that. The teacher didn't believe me and my parents taught me to obey my elders. I didn't know better at the time to fight back and defend myself so thusly I got the swat. Another time I was accused of cheating on a test, by the same girl. The girl raised her hand and said that I was looking at her paper. The teacher asked me if I had looked at her paper. I was afraid to lie, so I said that I looked at the top of it. I never copied any answers, because I was too scared and honest enough not to cheat. My mistake was telling the teacher that I looked on the top of the paper. I got sent to the principal's office for "cheating" and got swatted by a big fat guy. The regular old principal was sick and the substitute hurt like hell, especially with all of that damn weight going into his swat (lol). Man, this thread has unburied memories that have been deeply embedded in my subconcience for years. Wow! One thing that it taught me later on was that it was a mediocre symbol of what Jesus Christ went through. He took a beating for our sins, even though he never did anything wrong just so that we can have eternal life. Swimfan85 02-19-2003, 02:18 PM wanna check? laceyinthesky 02-19-2003, 03:39 PM I got hit once at public school in the early 90's. Mossopp 02-19-2003, 04:51 PM Is paddling still legal in some parts of America?! $h!t - it's not been allowed in the UK for years!! So no, I've never gotten a paddling. I don't think a paddle was ever used in Britain - it was mostly the belt that was used as punishment. Either that or a caning. It was the belt for my parents, in Scotland, in the 1950's. |
