NASA's never lost anyone on the trip down... *Melissa* 02-01-2003, 11:33 AM If anyone is interested, the remaining shuttles are Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour. Kay Scarpetta 02-01-2003, 11:35 AM That is wicked sad.... I feel bad for all the wives and children and everyone :crying: ~Tropical Punch 19~ 02-01-2003, 12:14 PM it is very disturbing. America is already in eniugh stress. It is just liek the challenger. Did you know lance Bass was suppsoed to be on the space craft Columbia? i think it was this flight. Good thing they fired him from being able to go. laceyinthesky 02-01-2003, 12:24 PM Yeah I've seen it on national news and local news as well. Someone woke me up to tell me about it. Titania 02-01-2003, 12:31 PM its so sad....one of my neighbors went to school w/ david brown who was on the columbia.. Mijada 02-01-2003, 01:08 PM It definately brings back memories og the Challenger explosion. It is especially sad hearing that woman, Laurel Clark saying how happy she was to be coming back home. Ewan's My Man 02-01-2003, 01:24 PM Yea, my dad told me about that, it's really sad. I feel bad for their families and friends...:( Warm & Fuzzy 02-01-2003, 08:40 PM I heard about it awhile ago. Very sad :( *PinkLady* 02-01-2003, 11:06 PM I was watching the news coverage this afternoon. That's absolutely terrible. They were so close to landing, too. :( Storyteller2003 02-01-2003, 11:50 PM I was in the third grade when Challenger exploded and I can remember the school patching the news updates through the intercom system. Ronald McNair was from a town 20 minutes from where I lived. The entire student body wrote letters to his wife and kids saying how sorrry we were that somethink like that happened. I even have a picture of his name that is in the monument at The Cape. My thoughts and prayers go out to the 7 seven families of the astronauts; to the entire NASA family because this is also affected them; and to the Israeli nation who lost a national hero. patriot: Kristina 02-02-2003, 09:13 AM aw it's so horrible what happened, i feel so bad! :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( Unwanted Angel 02-02-2003, 07:58 PM We live five miles from Nacadoges and my sister found a metel piece of the ship and somethig that looked like a man's golden wedding band Which got melted pretty bad and the piece of metel is huge in our back yard...The police are still here. Everytime i think about it i feel so sick. It's a sad thing that has happened. I can't even imagine what it was like when they told the families that their loved ones that the cuolmbia was lost and their were no survivors... I hope that the crew did not suffer and i hope they died right away and did not feel no pain at all. I am also glad that thay fuflled their dreams of going into space... RIP Columbia Crew.... http://us.news1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/rids/20030201/i/1044116227.2348884029.jpg :crying: Ags2000 02-03-2003, 03:21 PM Originally posted by Rudy and Kenny4eva it is very disturbing. Good thing they fired him from being able to go. Lance Bass was NOT scheduled to be on Columbia. He had a contract with the Russians. He was going up AND down with the Russians. At no time would he have been on the Columbia. I do agree it reminds me of Challenger. I mean, it was just 5 days after the 17th aniversary. It was a very sad day. D Max Whittaker 02-03-2003, 11:27 PM Yes, very sad... But they died doing what they loved to do. Not everyone can be so lucky. I hope the space program grows from this. There is no way to make space travel completely risk free, but, in honor of the men and women who died Saturday, we we must move forward! The shuttle is old. We need something fresher, newer, safer. I was disgusted how quickly Bush was able to swich his speach from the Columbia dsaster to Iraq! If I was on the Columbia I would be so insulted I would haunt him! I mean, come on! He usually has more respect for Americans than that! *Marilyn Monroe* 02-04-2003, 12:03 AM Geez...the pics in Ags2000's sig! They are so similar! 2 women, 5 men. 1 African American man.
