I respect cops and all, except like dawsongirl said, the ones that abuse their power like the one time I saw a cop driving on the shoulder just to get out of traffic. TJL 01-22-2003, 08:37 PM My father was a well respected and hard working Police Officer. We should all give our thanks to the brave men and women who risk their lives every day. :) Kay Scarpetta 01-22-2003, 08:45 PM I like 'em. They save lives. Although half of our police force (which is about 6 or 700 people) are young and arrogant. The other half my mother knows  They are the older ones, veterans. Great people. But the others, yep... they're Springfield's Finest  Kitt 01-22-2003, 08:50 PM If 9/11 was a horse, it'd be dead as a doornail. Please stop exploiting a tragedy. The cops who were there and acted above and beyond the call of duty deserve all the credit for that. It doesn't automatically rub off on every other cop in the world. ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 01-22-2003, 09:07 PM I like em, but where the frig are they when you need them?!?! Oh yah.. of course theyre there to pull me over.. ugh. LOl. But ya, I like em. Kristina 01-22-2003, 09:34 PM Originally posted by AKA The only people who hate cops, usually, are the ones that are breaking the law. I hate cops and I'm not breaking the law in any way. I'm totally against police brutality. °Bubbly Blonde° 01-22-2003, 10:15 PM Originally posted by Avril Lavigne I hate cops and I'm not breaking the law in any way. AnaheimPMWitch 01-22-2003, 10:51 PM I think they're cool of course one of the children in my Care her dad is a police officer so I Kinda half to think they are cool Titania 01-22-2003, 11:04 PM I have nothing against police officers but the ones around here seem to all be involved in something less than wonderful. example- our officer from DARE in elementry school, who told us day after day that drugs were bad, got arrested because she broke into a dentists office and stole a bunch of drugs.... vienna waits 01-22-2003, 11:28 PM It doesn't automatically rub off on every other cop in the world. lol ditto ditto. Around here, they just pull people over to harass them and to meet their quota. other than that they just stand around, talk, and get fat. Kitt 01-23-2003, 12:55 AM Originally posted by gbscott1954 I am not trying to exploit 9-11. I think it should be remembered because it was a terrible time in our nation's history. And I am not saying every police officer in the world is good but the majority are. Please don't twist my words out of context. What did you mean then by bringing up 9/11 as proof that we need them? I'll give credit, as I said before, to the cops who were on the scene who acted with unselfish valor. But that's as far as it goes. You seem to think that 9/11 is supposed to have changed our overall perception of the police. To me, that's exploiting the tagedy. We don't need to exploit it to remember it. sara 01-23-2003, 01:31 AM I like them in general. However there was a female cop over here who was arrested twice for drunk driving. The last arrest she had her 10 month old daughter in the car. Thankfully she was fired. The cop who came when my mom car stalled in the turn lane was really nice, and he was very cute;). When I told that to my brother he said I should've asked to see "his nightstick" Lee 01-23-2003, 02:00 AM Originally posted by sara I like them in general. A suburb of Grand Rapids, between Wyoming and Jenison. Janice 01-23-2003, 03:15 AM I have, and always will have, the utmost respect for police officers and firefighters. There's a few bad apples, but that's true for every profession. These people put their lives on the line for us. TJL 01-23-2003, 06:18 AM Originally posted by YearbookLoser lol ditto ditto. CollegeGirl 01-23-2003, 07:21 AM I think cops are great. Sure, there are cops who abuse the power. But, there are people everywhere who abuse their power no matter what they do. That comes from the person who they are-- not whether or not they are a "cop." The same applies with teachers-- the good, hardworking ones who care about what affect they leave on the world are to be commended for their hard work. Cops are out there every day risking their own lives to help keep us safe. Even before 9-11, cops were out there every day in order to keep us safe. Somehow, we as a nation never gave them any credit before that, though. I have a HUGE experience with cops as I have a long line of family members who are police officers and have had to work with other cops many times regarding children at my job. I'm definitely appreciative of everything they've done for me. And if there are any cops out there reading this, please let me say thank you for everything you do. As far as doing nothing but pulling people over and getting quotas? Well, that's funny. I was the one in the house when my cousin got the call that a riot had been broken out in the prison my cousin worked for, one officer had been stabbed to death, and they wanted my cousin to come in and help out. He jumped right out of bed, got dressed, and went to work. All his family told him he was stupid for walking into that situation, but he ignored them. He was like, "I can walk down a street and get hit and killed by a bus. I'm in no more or less danger going into this scene." And he left. I think that kind of work takes a LOT of courage. Another time, two armed felons were roaming in the woods behind my house. I talked to the police officers, and as the last one left, I said, "Please be careful." The guy looked at me with this stunned expression of his face. It knocked me off guard because, it seemed like that was the first time anyone had ever worried about his safety (as far as someone he didn't know). America has this "protect me, forget you" mentality sometimes, and that can be so sad. The officer did answer me, "Thanks. You be careful too. Stay in the house unless you have to go somewhere. But, don't just hang around outside." I just can't get over how surprised he seemed to have someone worry about his safety. Cops are people, like everyone else. If you shoot or stab them, they bleed. They are people's wives, daughters, husbands, sons, brothers, sisters, etc. We owe them A LOT. ~*Belle N'Shawn forever~* 01-23-2003, 09:57 AM I like Police Officers, Some of them are Cute and HOT .... (For you youngins', the fuzz was derogatory slang for cops) JoJoJoJoJoJoJoJoJo 01-23-2003, 04:43 PM Originally posted by kittflynn If 9/11 was a horse, it'd be dead as a doornail. I have pics of police officers in my town leaning up against their cars eating food after a tornado last october... some real life savers there. TJL 01-24-2003, 08:27 PM Originally posted by YearbookLoser I have pics of police officers in my town leaning up against their cars eating food after a tornado last october... some real life savers there. My bad. My Father was a Police Detective who served for 27 years with an exemplary record, so I sometimes get a bit overzealous when the Police are criticized. :) JDS84 01-24-2003, 08:32 PM I like police officers. Its just the police officers where I live are total perverts. They would the girls over just to ask for there phone number. I know one cop who is cheating on his wife with a fellow officer. |
