View Full Version : Million Dollar Ripoff
scott cokeley 11-30-2001, 03:53 PM Hi out there!! I am new to this board, but have been reading with great interest. Does anyone out there have a copy of the made for TV movie "The Million Dollar Ripoff"? There was SOMEONE here who claimed to have it....then disappeared (I think). I`ve been hoping to find this for years and would gladly pay for a copy. Or trade....I have different rare TV movies with Jack Albertson, including one with Lawrence Hilton Jacobs of "Welcome Back Kotter". I am also a collector of Scatman Crothers` rare records.
tylersmistress2002 11-30-2001, 04:41 PM welcome scott...and good luck on your search...if you find it anywhere, you mite find it here. I have seen alot of people lookin for that tho and not one copy as of yet. There are other things out there. I am lookin for copies of the show myself if you hear of any for sale. again, welcome.

Also I'd read on here sometime back where someone said that Freddie cried in that movie. Does anyone know what happened there & have more info on him crying in the movie & all the details on it? I'd love to have the info for my site. Thanks!

I would love to tell you about this powerful scene!

tylersmistress2002 01-04-2002, 10:25 AM EVERYBODY WANTS A COPY!!!!:talk:
catcopy18 01-04-2002, 03:18 PM I posted this on another thread but really is applies here too. Has anyone tried searching the internet for Million Dollar Ripoff? I've checked several old movie stores on the internet but they always say "sorry, Million Dollar Ripoff could not be found". I hate to see what happens if ever there is a copy on e-bay. Everyone here will be bidding against each other I'm afraid. What will we do if that happens? Surely there is a copy out there somewhere! I asked this question on the other thread too - was MDR a movie made for television or was it shown in a movie theater? When was it supposed to have been released - earlier in Freddie's career or towards the end? During Freddie's marriage or after things started getting bad? Sorry for all the questions, but as they say "inquiring minds want to know!"
atlangel 01-14-2002, 11:54 AM Hi Catcopy:
I apologize for the delay in replying. I just saw your questions. Yes, MDR was a made for t.v. movie on NBC. I can check for you on the year of release, but it was near the end. I will never forget how I noticed the tremendous weight loss. He was still gorgeous, but I was struck by the weight loss. IMHO the movie was great. It showcased his abilities on the dramatic side and it was a very pleasant surprise.
I hope this helps. I will check it out tonight and let you know the year and whether or not it was made during his marriage or not.
FREDDIE FOREVER!!
