I once heard a story that in real life Lucy was driving on an LA freeway and "picked up" a radio signal or radio station in her teeth (metal fillings acting as diodes, I guess). Is there any truth to this tale?

View Full Version : Lucy's Teeth as radio receiver?? sbowling 01-07-2003, 02:25 PM I once heard a story that in real life Lucy was driving on an LA freeway and "picked up" a radio signal or radio station in her teeth (metal fillings acting as diodes, I guess). Is there any truth to this tale? dawsongirl 01-07-2003, 04:19 PM I do believe it's true. I thought she picked up military signals. Barnabas1 01-07-2003, 05:59 PM WoW.....Is this true? Mickey 01-08-2003, 09:00 AM Don't see why not. It's a surprisingly common phenomenon. :) SPLAIN 01-08-2003, 11:50 AM Yes, it was during the Second World War and she was driving along and heard it so when she told people about it, they told her to report it to the police, she did, and they traced it to a gardener, Japanese man, who was spying out of a shed near where she had first heard the beeps! Lucy saves the world, news at 11! Sounds like a plot from one of her shows, doesn't it? It was from the fillings in her teeth, the material used picked up the signals in Morse code! Barnabas1 01-08-2003, 12:28 PM Wow Claude...That's strange! BBF 01-08-2003, 02:18 PM Wow! That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard! Can you imagine what she must have said when she reported it? "Yeah, I heard it through my teeth!" Freaky. SPLAIN 01-08-2003, 04:17 PM I think they even used a variation of it in one of the plots on her shows, can't remember which one though, LOVE THAT PICTURE RICKY, ONE OF HER BEST! Thanks, I love that one too! This one, is the next best: *ShortCake* 01-10-2003, 12:34 AM wow i didnt know that that could really happen!! I didnt even know about that story. thanks for sharing !! SPLAIN 01-10-2003, 12:34 PM I got a million of em, once told about 700 on one thread at Lucy Talk, doesn't that tell you how full and exciiting her life was? *ShortCake* 01-12-2003, 09:26 PM LOL Claude I remember reading them! You should do that here!! :D They were all really great stories. Thanks for posting them! SPLAIN 01-13-2003, 03:01 PM My pleasure Ash, wish our lives were that exciting! Stormtracker TF 01-16-2003, 03:57 PM Woah, I knew that could happen to people with fillings but I never knew that happened to Lucy! Thanks for the info! SPLAIN 01-16-2003, 04:43 PM Like i said, she had a heck of a life, sorta like three lives in one! *ShortCake* 01-16-2003, 10:24 PM LOL Claude thats so true haha. My life is like a rock sitting under a tree all day compared to hers! LOL. ( if that makes sense) Mickey 01-17-2003, 09:17 AM Well presumably her life was ordinary once upon a time. ~LadyJess~ 01-17-2003, 01:04 PM Originally posted by Mickey Well presumably her life was ordinary once upon a time. And when was that, I wonder? The first months of her life or so? Mickey 01-17-2003, 06:20 PM I don't know! :) What I meant really was, several people have complained that their lives aren't half so interesting. Well then why not try to make them so? SPLAIN 01-21-2003, 02:19 PM This is as close as it gets Mick, talking to you and others here about LUCY! Brian Damage 01-21-2003, 03:39 PM I remember that story myself, however I never knew if it was fact or fiction. SPLAIN 01-21-2003, 04:36 PM I know what you mean, it definitely sounds like something a publicity agent would make up, but it's been written up as true many times, it's perfectly consistent with the rest of her life, weird things always happened to her! I'm with you Claude, it's almost like a Maharincess from Franistan! LOL! SPLAIN 01-23-2003, 11:52 AM There you go, PERFECT EXAMPLE, she's sitting in her house in Beverly Hills with her feet bandaged from an operation with Viv, doing each other's hair, alone with no staff, and they hear sirens and these limos bring these people to the door, they stupidly answer it and this man with an entourage tours the house, doesn't recognize them and leaves after seing Lucy's house top to bottom, and not knowing he just saw Lucy in person, and he says he's the King of Persia, yeah, very unusual and unbelievable! But it actually happened! Wow!The filling and the king of Persia story is interesting! The Japanese spy and everything is true?Yes,yes, I know the news at 11 isn't true.Anybody remember the Gilligan's Island episode of Gilligan having a filling in his tooth and every time his mouth opened the filling was like a radio? Was it because of Lucy's filling that story was made? SPLAIN 01-27-2003, 03:50 PM Could very well be! |
