DarleneIllyria 12-27-2002, 09:36 PM Equal Sweetner- It works for me. Believe me, I have very stubborn hiccups. I hold my breath. I drink sips of water. Nothing helps for my hiccups except for the equal sweenter. If you don't have any sweetner in the house, try sugar. Empty the sweetner on your tongue and let it dissolve. Hope it helps for you! Warm & Fuzzy 12-27-2002, 09:36 PM Breathe into a paper bag, stand on your head, or simply hold your breath. Make sure to plug your ears and nose when holding your breath, though.. its more effective this way. ;) Warm & Fuzzy 12-27-2002, 09:38 PM Originally posted by Jenny Equal Sweetner- It works for me. LucyFan 12-27-2002, 09:54 PM I would suggest you either drink lots of water or hold your breath. Usually, at least one of those would cure the hiccups. It works for me every time. Warm & Fuzzy 12-28-2002, 02:05 AM Originally posted by FOLrocks1 What are hicups anyway!? I mean I know what they are, but what causes them inside of your body? It is caused by an irritation of the diaphragm, which can occur by eating too fast or too much, or if you're nervous or something. When the diaphragm is irritated, & you exhale.. it pushes the air up in an abnormal way, so when it reaches the voice box, it makes the "hic up" sound... and um yeah, LOL. What I do is I get a cup of water and take lots of little sips of water every 5 seconds. They're usually gone in a minute or two. Professor Jenny. That happens to my sister like 3 times a day, lol. She always gets the hiccups, it's so funny. And it happens when she's away from water. |
