Eventually, Rachel became the owner of her own diner.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't business reasonably booming when Rachel's Place (https://familymatters.fandom.com/wiki/Rachel%27s_Place_(location)) first opened? But then there was one episode where she talked about money being tight with her and having to return a dress so she could afford gear for Richie. Wasn't Rachel's Place also really, a family business (weren't Carl, Harriet and Mother Winslow were investors) even though she ran it?

Outside of that, is it possible that her late husband had good life insurance?
