It's a huge mess. There was some cPanel vulnerability causing huge issues. Our host was able to update and patch it up.

It looks like there was possibly some ransomware installed. Many of the .jpg and .gif files were renamed to the .sorry file extension. I'm talking to our host about it. We might have to be moved to a new server.

That's what I'm going to do. I'm extracting the backup files now. I have a full backup from October 28, 2024. I should be able to re-upload certain folders.

All of the files are still there. Many are encrypted so they won't display.

The custom avatars we offer should display once I re-upload the folder. Any user uploaded avatars may have to be re-uploaded.

I have most of the forum images/smilies/avatars (the ones we offer) folders re-uploaded. Cloudflare is still caching the newly uploaded ones from yesterday, so I'm going to purge the entire cache at some point. I'm purging individual files right now.

It could have been much worse. Some folders weren't affected at all.

It's hard to say where they were from. It seems like there was a number of them. They use bitcoin, so it would be difficult to track them.

I'm hoping some of the encrypted files can still be recovered at some point.

I was able to recover as much as possible from backups. There's 20-25 members who have missing avatars. Any avatars or images that are broken after I clear Cloudflare's cache are likely lost and will need to re-uploaded.

Were .gif avatars uploadable before? I tried re-uploading my current .gif avatar. It didn't work. I know it converts .jpg to .gif.

Some avatars like Sal and Tankeryanker were there on the weekend, but now they are gone. I should have saved all of the recent ones before I cleared Cloudflare's cache. I will keep searching to see if I can find any missing ones. Maybe they are still cached somewhere.

His avatar was still there. The thumbnail was broken on the profile page. I have rebuilt all of the custom avatars thumbnails.

There's maybe 15 or so members who have missing avatars. I deleted the broken ones. They will need to re-upload their most recent avatar or use a new one.

I'm not seeing any missing post icons, smilies or graphics (new thread, reply, quote, go to first new post, go to last new post). I re-uploaded the original clean versions of all of them.

Try opening up any of the missing icons/graphics in a new window and refreshing them.

If you still aren't seeing them after a week, then it's likely an issue with your browser. Try clearing your temporary internet files and cookies. If you have another browser you can test a page with, you should see they are all working.

I tested all of the custom/holiday themes. There were a few missing graphics for the Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day themes. I purged the cache. It should be working now.

I didn't know you could put the profile pictures on the members list. It makes it easier to see what's missing, but it causes some formatting issues due to the size of some of them.

It would be the preferred option. Some of these members haven't logged in for months. I was trying to find what I could from backups as a courtesy.
