Okay I don't know how good this, but please let me know...


She sat there looking at a picture of her mother, with tears running down her face. "How much am I like her?" She thought. Jinny had been so depressed lattely. Ever since her father had the heart attack and she found out about her half sister. Her father was out of the hospital, and doing better, but for some reason that didn't make her feel better. She had even forgiven him for lieing to her about her half sister, or had she? She wasn't sure of anything anymore. She felt out of control of her own life, as she sat there, and cried harder.

She didn't even feel like drinking, "It only makes things worse when I drink, " she thought, "becides I don't know what I would do to myself if I did start drinking again.." Jinny sat there thinking of one of the other times she was depressed, and had been drinking to try and forget things, and how she was feeling, and didn't know why she was feeling that way. She had been in her car, and didn't want to live anymore. She turned on her car, and before she had even realized what she was doing she had put the gas peddle all the way to the floore she didn't care anmore, at that every moment she thought, "What are you doiing? YOu don't want to die!" So she slamed on her breaks, she never told anyone about that night, and she made a promice to herslef that she never would tell anyone.

"Yes Jinny thought she didn't want to go back to drinking. The thing was that even work wasn't making her happy anymore. Putting away the bad guys just wasn't the same as it used to be. It used to make a difference in the world or even just the town that she lived in, but now that didn't even work.

Jinny came home every night from work crying and she couldn't stop. She would wake up every norning crying. She didn't know what to do or, who to turn too. "Magda just didn't understand," she thought, "and she has her own problems with Ben being in the hospital." Jinny didn't want to add more problems for Magda.

Every other time that Jinny was depressed she always found away to come out of it, but this time was different. She couldn't pull herself out of it this time. She Thought "My life isn't worth living like this." She just wanted help, but didn't know how to get it. "I have to do something," She thought, as she tried to clear her head. She needed someone she could talk to. Someone who would help her. Jinny got off the couch and went over to the phone. She picked it up and dialed a number. It rang twice and there was no answer. She said, " come on pick up," as it rang a thried time Jinny looked at the clock and realized that it was two O'clock in the morning. "Oh damn it I didn't realize how late it was." She hung up the phone. " God what was I thinking. I shoudn't have hung up the phone after three rings that would have wakin me up" So she picked back up the phone again and dialed the same number again. She needed help no matter how late it was she new that this person would understand, or so she hoped.

The voice on the other side sounded ever tired, "Hello...."

Jinny asked, "Teddy is that you?"

"Yeah, it's me. " He could tell that is was Jinny. He didn't even half to ask. He could tell that she had been crying, and he was really worried about her. It had been a long time since the two had talked. Teddy new that he made a huge mistake when he had called it off with Jinny. He had sice then tried to make it up to her, and it was working she had forgiven him for his mistake, but soon after her father's heart acctack she stoped talking to him, and going out with him. Teddy had tried to get her to talk to him, but the more he asked the more she pushed him away. Teddy wiped the sleep out of his eye's. "Is everything okay? Jinny are you alright??" Teddy asked concered.


Jinny was tring hard to stop crying, but it was no use, "I...I" She said threw sobs.

"Is it your dad? Is he in the hospital again?" He was getting more worried about her.

Jinny said, "No...my da..dad's fine." She was trying to get words out of her mouth but , she just couldn't. She was crying to hard.

Teddy asked worriedley, "Then what is it Jinny? are you okay?" There was no answer from Jinny. Only The sound of her crying. "Jinny?" Still no answer. "Jinny take a dep breath and try to stay calm so, you can tell me whats going on?"

He heard her take a dep breat it was another few minutes before Jinny said anything. "I can't do this anymore. I can't llive like this. Ineed help, and I don't know how to get it." She started crying even harder her legs gave out on her as she fell on the couch. She said with what she had left to give, she was just so tired, "I need help! Please help me!"

Teddy was scared, he didn't know what was going one with Jinny, but he would do anything for her. "Jinny I will be right there!" He really wasn't sure what she might do to herself.

Jinny could barley get the words out of her mouth. "Okay," was all she could get out.

Teddy said, "okay I will be right over. Bye." He hung up the phone. He got dressed grabed, his coat and keys and got into his car, and headed over to Jinny house.

It was about ten minutes later, and Jinny was settin in a chair. She had stopped cring, but she still didn't feel right. Something just wasn't righ with her. It hadn't been for a long time, and she couldn't figure out why. She just sat there stareing across the room. She had just shut down all her emotions. She couldn't feel much anymore, and that scared her. It was almost like she was in shock. The door bell rang, and she got up and walked slowley to the door. She felf kinda like a zombie. She opened the door. Teddy walked in, and huged her, and asked, "Jinny what's going on!?"

Jinny huged him back she didn't ever want him to let her go. She could tell that he was worried about her. She was very calm now. A little to calm for Teddy He could see that cicrles under her eyes. He wasn't sure the last time she had slept a full night. Jinny was so tied of everything. She just wanted to sleep and not wake-up until she felt better. "Teddy I don't know what is wrong with me." They walked over to the couch and sat down. "it started around the time that I found out that Ronnie was my half sister, and then of corse when my father has his heat acctack. I know that I pushed everyone out of my like then, but I didn't know how to deal with it. I still don't. I don't even know why your here. I mean out of eveyone I pushed you away the most. I didn't retern your phone calls. I wouldn't even give you the time of day, then I call you in the middle of the night and after all that you come over. Why?"

Teddy said in a soft and understanding voice," Jinny look at me." He gentley put his hand on her chin and turned her face so she was looking at him. He wanted her to hear what he was saying, but he also wanted her to see that he meant what he was saying. As she looked at him she saw the love in his eye's for her. That scared her more thne anything, but she kept looking at him. She had nothing more to lose, but she thought as one single tear ran down her face, execpt her life. Teddy wipped the tear away from her face and said, " Jinny the worst mistake that I ever made was by letting you go. I wll never do that again. I love you with everything that I am. I would do anything for you, because my life isn't worth living with out you in it. Let me help you Jin. Please?"

The words that he had just said were so beatufl that she felt like cring again, but she couldn't. She was to tired too. She could tell just by looking at him that every word that he was saying was true. "I will try to let you help, but I don't under stand it myself. If I did then I wouldn't feel the way that I do. I just feel so down. I fell depressed. I don't feel like getting up in the morning. All I want to do is sleep, and that seems to be that last thing that I am able to do. I lay in bed and cry at night. I get out of bed, and go to work and everything seems to be okay when, I am around people, but then I get home and I cry more. I am just so tired. All I want to do is sleep."

"Jinny when was the last time you got a full night sleep?Teddy asked.

She thought for a secound and said, "I can't remember it's been such a long time."

"Why don't you call in work, and let them know that you won't be at work until later tomorrow? Just tell them that something came up."

I can't do that Teddy. I have this huge case that I'm working, and with Magda not being able to come to work all the time that is make us behind on our case", Jinny said.

"What is more important Jinny, your life or, your job?!"

She just looked down she didn't know anymore somethimes she thought that work was the only thing that kept her from taking her life. "That's the problem I don't know anymore!" She got up from the couch. She lost it again. She didn't think that she had anymore tears left, but she was wrong. She started screaming and cring. She was throwing things. She yelled, "What do I have to live for?! Huh?! there's nothing that I look forward to anymore! I hate feeling like this!" She droped to her nees on the floor, and just started crying even more. "I need help...I can't turn out like her...I can't turn out like my mom!"

Teddy leaned down, and pit his arms around her. " I won't let you do that. I love yo to much. You mean the world to me." He said. He picked her up off the floor, and carried her back to her bed room, and put her on her bed. He held her in his arms. He never wanted to let her go. He had never sceen her like this, and it scared him. Jinny just kept on cring. He was still holding her as he started to rub her back. "Shhh...everything will be okay. I will take care of you. I will get you all the help in the workd. I will do anything for you." He said as he laid there worried about Jinny.

As she laid there she started to calm down. She felt Teddy's arms around her, and that helped her feel a little bet better, or at least for the moment. After about a half hour she was about alseep when she said, " I love you Teddy."

He softley kissed her forhead and said, I love you too." They fell alseep in each other arms.

Jinny woke up, and turned to see what time it was. The clock said five minutes till eight. She rubed her eyes, and couldn't believe that she was already up, after the night that she had. I never got up that easey never. She turned over to her other side, and pulled the covers over her head, and moned she didn't want to get up, and face life, she didn't want to do anything.

Teddy who was awake, and right besiced her didn't want to leave her side. He asked, "Jinny are you okay?"

She took the covers away form her face. "Teddy, I wish that I could tell you that I was fine. I don't know I mean it is hard, and I just don't know what to do anymore. The only thing that I do know is that I wish that I could just stay in bed all day, but I can't becasue I have work to do."

Teddy didn't know how to tell her this, but he had to. He just didn't know how she would react to him having gone threw some of her things to find out who her docter was so that he could try, and get her into see her docter that day. He new that it was improtant for her to go as soon as possible. "Jinny, look frist thing that I need for you to do is to stay calm when I tell you this. The last thing that you need right now is to get upset. It is also importnat for you to know that I love you, and I never want to see you the way that you were last night. I went through some of your things, and found your docters phone number, so that I could get you in to see her as soon as posible. She has an opening at Nine thirty this morning. I was just getting ready to wake you up."

Jinny sat up in bed, and upset she said, "You did what? What makes you think that you can do that? Huh? What givies you the right to come in here, and go threw my things, and make phone calls for me huh? I have to be at work in a little while, and i don't have time to go to the docters."

"What gives me the right..Jinny I care for you that is what gives me the right, and the fact that you called me last night, and asked me for help. Do you think that I am just going to set her, lose you slowley. No I will not do that. I love you to much. As for work you can call them, and tell them that you are going to be late."

Jinny, pulls the covers off of her, and stands up. She doesn't know if she is more upset at the fact that she called him last night, or the fact that he was there to help her, and that he was doing just that. She said to Teddy ticked..."You know what your right I did call you last night for your hlep..That was my mistake, and it will never happen again! I was feeling a little down, but now I am better, so I guess that you can leave now." She goes to her door, and opens it for him to leave.

Teddy thought to himself that he wasn't leaving that easley. He walks to the door, and slams it shut, and turns back to Jinny. "Jinny I know that you are upset with me, but please don't shut me out...I need you...more then anything I need us..You, and me. YOU said to me that you can't live life like this anymore. Do you think that I am just going to leave you after you say something like that to me? Oh, and don't pull this carp that you are feeling better. No one...not even the women that I love can pull herself out of a depression that fast."

Jinny didn't know what to say. She sat down on the couch. She looked down. Teddy was right she was she wasn't feel better, but she also wasn't as bad as last night. "Look Teddy, I am sorry. Your right..I didn't mean to get mad at you. It's just....It's just that for me depending on people is hard, and last night I...I" She was still trying to find the right words...."I didn't know....I didn't know WHY I was feeling the way that I was. I was tired of all the crying, and everything else." She looked up into Teddy eyes. She new he was worried about her, and for that reason she was trying to stay calm. She didn't want him to be worried about her. She could take care of herself, but she also new that he wasn't going to take that as an answer. "Teddy I am NOT going to kill myself. I hope that you realize that. I may not know what is going on with me right now, but I know that at lesat for today I am not going to kill myself."

Teddy cut her off, "Maybe not today, but what about tomorrow. What would have happend if I hadn't come last night?"

Jinny said in a soft voice, almost to the point that Teddy couldn't here her. " I wouldn't have killed myself. Not last night, and not tomorrow." Jinny didn't believe herself. All the times in the last few months that sucided had poped in her mind, and how last night it was the worst, but now she was feeling better at least a little. She didn't want to go to the docters.She had to much work to do.

Teddy said, "You don't sound to shure of yourself? Why don't we just go to the docters, and then maybe things will make more since. Hey, you might just find out what is borthering you."

Jinny thought for a secound, and then said, "I can't go to the docters today. I really do have to much work to do, but what if I promice that I will go next week sometime? Will that work for you? "

Teddy wasn't sure what to think. He had never sceen Jinny like that before, but he also knew that if he pushed Jinny right now that she would just puch him right back out of her life. "Jinny you swear to me that next week you will go, and see your docter."

Jinny got up from the couch, and walked over to Teddy, and looked him straght in the eye, and siad, "I swear..." They kissed each other, and hugged. Jinny pulled away, and said, "I have to get ready for work, and I am sure that you have to leave to work as well."

You are right I do, but if you need..."

Jinny cut him off. "I call."

He walked to the door, and then turn to ask, " Is it okay if I stop by tonight?"

Jinny said, "sure, maybe we can brab a bite to eat or something."

Teddy opend the door, and said, "Bye"

Jinny said, "See Ya."

An hour later Jinny showed up at work. She sat down, and started on some paper work. Magda walked in a little while later, and said "Hey, Jin." There was no answer from Jinny..Magda tired again Mornin Jin..."

Jinny looked up realizeing that her best friend was standing in fornt of her. "Umm oh, Hi Mag. How is Ben?"

"Oh man last night was a rough night." Jinny thought to herself tell me about it. Magda contunied with what she was saying. "He is a tough little boy though. A real fighter."

Jinny simeiled, and tucked her hair behind her ear. "Just like his mom." She said. Jinny was trying to hide the way she was feeling, but Magda could tell that something was wrong. Jinny then said, "So is he feeling better now?"

Maged said, "Yeah he's feeling a little better now. So how are You doing she asked her best frined seeing the dark circles around her eyes, and seeing that they were also blood shot.

"Uhh...I guess tired..you know not getting enough sleep. That kinda thing Jinny said trying to cover.

Magda looked at her. "Come on Jin your hideing something from me. What's going on?"

"You wouldn't understand no one does." Jinny said.

"Try me Jin." Magda said.

"Mag, I am sorry I just don't wanna talk about it okay?"

Magda Looked at her best friend. She couldn't stand to see her hurting like this, but she didn't know what else she could do so she said, "okay, but you know If you need to talk to me I am here for you."

"Yeah. Jinny said, " I know." They both when to doing there paper work.

Captain's office

Kate looked at the file that the A.D.A had just stoped by to talk to her about. He was gone now, and now all she had to do was talk to Jinny, and Magda about it, but the problem was she didn't know how Jinny was going to take her news. Kate could tell that Jinny had been really depressed lately, but she also knew that there was nothing she could do about it. She took at deep breath, and walked to her office door, and called for both the inesperters to come into her office. They both walked into her office, and took a seat, and Kate shut her door. "I have to talk to the both of you about the Walter's case. I know that this is a touchey subject, but I need for both of you to stay calm."

Jinny got up from her seat, and said, "Please, not bad news. Don't tell me Mr. Walter's is going to get away with beating his wife, and kid, PLEASE don't tell me that."

Kate looked up at Jinny. Kate was sorry to have to tell Jinny this, but there was nothing that she could do anymore. "Jinny I am sorry, but the mother, is takeing back her statemeat. She is saying that there was no abuse."

Jinny started yelling, "But, we have a docters recard, and neabors who have heard screaming coming form the hose,a nd it's not the first time that the mother has called the police."

Magda was upset too, but not quite as upset. "Captain didn't the juge say that if the mother took back her statment that the kid was going to go to a foster home?"

"Yes," Kate said. "That is what the juge...."

Jinny cut her off.."Yeah, but everybody know that within a few monts that kid will be right back in that home, and being beat again, becasue the law doesn't work!"

"Jinny that not ture...You don't know that." Kate was staying really calm for herslf, and for Jinny. She knew she had too.This was to touchey subject for her.

"I do know it!" Jinny said get more upset. "Why is it that the fact that a kids life is at stake, and you are just setting there staying so calm?! It's like you don't even care?"

"I DO care damn....!"Kate stoped herself, and took a deep breath... "It's just sometimes when a case is so personal to you you have to take a step back from it that way you don't take it so personal. Look Jinny the father will make a mistake, and we will get him. Until then we will just have to wait it out. I know that is hard, but that is what we have to do."

"She's right Jinny. The Dad will make a mistake, and we will be there when he does." Magda said.

"UH Huh?" Jinny questioned what they where saying. "So what happends if we wait, and the father kills the mother, or the kid then what? I am not going to stand here while the monster gets away with it!"

"Jinny there is nothing that you can do at this point. The law won't let you do anything about it." Kate said

"Well then I guess that we wouldn't have done our jobs...as police at protecting the inocent! If that is the way it is then I guess you can take this job, and screw it!" Jinny walked to the door, and opended it up, and walked out the door.

Kate sat at her deck watching as Jinny ran out of the room. Kate firured she would follow in a minute, but frist she had to make a phone call. Magda looked at her captain as if, asking for permision to follow her parter and close friend. Kate gave her a nod, and said, "Go." Magda didn't think twice about it she went after her best friend. Jinny went into the locker room and was just sitting on the bench. She was trying not to cry, but she knew that the tears were coming, and she knew how she had been latley and knew that she wasn't goona be able to stop them once they did come. Magda walked in right after her, and asked, "please, tell me what's going on. Jin it's pretty clear that it isn't just this case that's getting to you."

Jinny looked up at her best friend knowing that she meant well, but she was to upset to see it. "Look it doesn't matter what is going on with me wright now. They are going to end up letting this little boy go back to his parents. I don't know what I will do if that happpens, and something tells me I am not going to have a choice in the matter. If, only this one case the only case that I have given a damn about in the last few months could work out maybe I would start to feel better."

"Jinny," Magda stated, "You know as well as I do that one case isn't going to make you feel better. Look, I can honlisty say that I don't know what your going though, but I can say that you have seed sad for a long time now. Maybe even since I meet you, and we didn't notice it then...Jin...I don't know..But if, it is this case that you think is going to make you feel better then maybe you should fight for it. Maybe she should go over all the files again..Talk to the people in the neiaborhood, and see what they have to say."

It's not that simple Magda...Look I made my choice I am sticking to it. I don't wanna do a job that doesn't protect the children. I woulda you of everybody would understand that Mag." Jinny said.

AN Okay I must say that in the next part or for that matter any police stuff that goes on or anything with Children Welfair Serivious I know thing about so, anything, or everything that I say might be wrong...Please just stick with me.


Kate sat back in her chair after dialing the number for childrean's welfair serivious, and as the person answerd she asked if she could pelase talk to Dave Frost. The women on the other end said one sec. Kate waited about another Minute and hurd the voice that she wanted.

"Hello, this is Dave Frost. What can I do for you?"

"Uhh. Hi dave, this is Captain Kate McCafferty." The captain part was a mistake on Kate part becasue, she knew Dave pretty well.

Dave asked, Oh hI Kate how are you doing? What can I do for you today?

Kate got right down to what she needed becides she was in a hurry. She wanted to get back to Jinny before she had a chance to leave. "well, Kate said, "remember that favour you owe me?

Yeah, dave said,'I guess it's time that you are Collecting it Huh?

Yes, Kate said.."it is an emergency I don't have much time to explain, but I hope you can help."

I will try my best Kate" he started

"Good Kate said, She went into dealteal of what she needed and Dave said that it shouldn't be any problem. So they hung up the phone, and Kate 'Oh, Allen The ADA on the case was going to kill her for going behind his back. oh she siad, 'it was very important that I did this.' She walked out of her officce, and asked Raina , "Did you see where Jinny, and Magda when?

Raina looked up form what she was doing, and saw her captain, "yeah the ran into the bathroom. What's goin on cap," Raina questioned.

Kate looked at the courisity in Raina's face, and Kate Said, "you know Raina courisity killed the cat." With that Kate walked over to the locker room, and turned back mostley looking at Raina, and said, "oh by the way, if I ceth any of you by that door with your ear by it then you will find yourselfs with a day offf.....with NO pay." Kate Walked into the locker rooms and saw Magda and Jinny sitting there talking. Kate couldn't help over hear.

Madgda was giving Jinny a hug, and Said, "So, I guess this is it your leaving?"

Jinny nodded her head as she was pooling away form her best friend. "Yeah there is nothing more I can do here." Jinny was sad after all the years she was there, but if, she couldn't save this child form the father, then there was nothing more that she could do that would be worth while. That when she hurd..the voice the that had so much anger in it she felt like she was a little kid again.

"Like HELL your leaving!" Kate was ticked but in the same she felt like she had to have Jinny close to her she Jinny didn't get hurt. Jinny to the captain even though Kate would never addimet it was like a daughter to her. She always had to wantch over her making sure she didn't do anything to get herself into trouble. She knew that if Jinny left that room that day Kate would never be able to look after her...after the women who had come in with such a chip on her shoulder. The women who had gotten into so much trouble, and Kate had found a way each time to dig jinny out of it...The women that Kate had so much pride in becasue of her strenath. Now once again Kate wasn't letting the women that she sometines found in her dreams as though she was her daughter wish her the best...and hopeing for her to having a family some day. Kate never new why she felt so close to Jinny, and she never thought that she would ever know. Maybe some were in this case Kate might be able to find out why. Till then she had to get Jinny to stay.

Jinny said simply, "You can't make me stay."

Kate said, "Wanna make you bet..you haven't given me your two week notice. Yes, I know you can walk out of her, but that doesn't mean that I wont' follow you out. At any rate...your here for two more weeks wither you like it or not."

Jinny asked, WHAT?!?!, now she was upset again this time not tears. "YOu can't do that!

Kate Looked at Jinny, and said, "Really? Why don't you try me..Huh see were that leads.." Kate changed subject for a secound, "Magda can you leave us alone for a minute?" Eventhough it was more of a statement then a question.

Magday said, "umm...I kinda like the seat right next to the both of you.Both Jinny and Kate glared at her, and she said, "okay okay, I am going." Magda walked to the door and went to open it.

"Magda, Kate said, stoping her in her tracks. "Ask Raina what I said about listening at the door..and what ever she tells you the same goes got it?"

Magda, gave her Cap a starnge look and said "Umm Yeah sure." She left the room. All eyes on her. She had hoped that the captain would convince her to stay. Magda thought it was kinda strange how the captain was acting but she though oh well maybe it was her way of trying to get Jinny to stay. She went to walk over to her seat when she still noticed the eyes still on her. What? She asked

Raina said, "so you gonna tell us what's goin on or what?"

Magda knew that Jinny wouldn't want them all know how she felt, she dind't blame them,but she also new that they were going to leave her alone she had to say soemthing. Well she thought that maybe what the cap had told her to ask RAina would get them off her back so, she said, "I don't know much, but Cap told me to ask you what she said when she went to walk into the locker room." Magda asked as she looked at raina.

Raina, got a frown on her face, and told magda what the cap had said, and Magda nearley laughed.

Back in the locker room

Jinny was fighting with all the streath that she had left no one told her what to do NO ONE, I can leave here if I want, and there is nothign that you can do about it!" Jinny Yelled

Okay Kate thought for a secound, she watched as jinny walked over to her locker, and started grabing stuff, and putting it into her bag Kate couldn't stand it any longer she walked over to Jinny locker and slamed it shut. Jinny face turned red cuase she was so upset, but now Kate new that withougt a doubt she had Jinny's attechion. "Jinny listen to me I have found a way to keep the little boy out of his dad, and mothers home....For a very long time.

Jinny was more courious now, but still up set and wanted to know answers, "How, How did you do that?

It's a long story, but someone in child willfair serivious owed me a faiorver. THe Boy woun't be going back to his parents until the mother agrees that the abuse was happening. Kate said

Oh, Jinny said, "Well in that case you really don't need me after all, you did that on your own the child is safe so there is no more work for me to do here...."

Kate cut her off before she could say, or do anything else. "Jinny..."Kate couldn't quite find the words that she was looking for. Jinny was in somewhat of shock of her captain say that eveyone needed her here, and just the little bet that she had said about even herself needing her, but the shock quickley wore of as Jinny thought of the last stament that her Captain had said. "YOU?! Jinny asked, and very upset this wasn't like her captain at all. "Why is it so important that I stay here? This kid Will die That's not far putting that kinda preasher on me! Why are you doing this? How are you so sure that by putting a child llife in danger that I will stay here?! " Kate waited a while, she couldnt' think of what to say when Jinny snaped her out of it. "HUH!? What makes you so sure?!

Kate had come up with her answer it was a fact that kate knew that both her, and Jinny would understand. "Becasue if, you leave your killing yourself, and that kid. I don't think your willing to make that dection. Now on the other hand, you can stay her if it isn't saving yourself at least your makeing a choice for the kid. I just want to make this clear if, you walk so does the deal for the kid. So, What have you decided?

Cd, Had gotten a call about five minutes after the Captain had walked out of her office. The call was about their suspect being around this wair house. They already had the warrent for the arrest, now all they had to do was find the guy. This was the frist lead that they had gotten in a few days. Cd, told Nate what was going on, and that he would meet her in the car. Cd looked to both Raina, and Magda, she was trying to figure out witch one she should tell were they were going in case something happend. She figured she would tell both of them on the safe side. "Hey, Magda and Raina, Nate and I are going to a ware house on twenty-ninth street. Let Cap no when she gets done. Will you?" They both noded their head in unision.

Jinny glared at her captain, but kate wasn't back down no way in hell was Kate going to do that. Jinny then yelled, "That's blakmail!"

"Call it what you want, but that is the deal that is before you. Take it or leave it." Kate stated.

"You wanna know what I calle it?" Jinny didn't wait for any answer. "I call it..."

Kate cut her off before she had a chance to say more. But, this time Kate tone was down, it was more mothering then anything, "Jinny believe it or not I know what your going though. It's tough, and it's not going to away over night. It could take months, even years. You may never get better, but you have to keep fighting. Wither you like it or, not I will be here fighting for your life. Each of us has our own part in this family of ours, and yours is just as important as everybody elses, and if you die then a part of all of us dies.

Jinny didn't quite know how to respond. Kate had never used those terms of them being a family. The last thing that Jinny wanted to do was to let down Kate or that little boy. Jinny sat back down on the bench, let herself relaxe a bit. She looked back up at her captains face, and said, "Alright I will do this, but only for that kid." Then Jinny gave her captain a worning. "Now, don't you go thinkin that since I am staing that means that I have forgiven you, because I haven't. It's going to take me a long time to forgive you."

One would have thought that Kate would be upset at what Jinny had just said to her, but she wasn't. She understood why she was mad at her, and for that reason she wasn't upset. "That's fine." Kate said

Jinny asked, "Now what?"

"Will," Kate said, "This is up to you, but why don't you go home for the day? Take the rest of the day as a sick day."

Jinny was going to arughe, but being tired form lack of sleep, she decided that she wouldn't. "Okay, but tomorrow I am coming back."

"That's fine." Kate said. "Get a good nights rest, and be ready to come back to work tomorrow."

"I will." jinny said. She walked to the door, and halted for a secound. Jinny opend the door, and turned around to face her Captain. She looked down, and then back up to her, "Thank you." It was something simple, but showed how greatful Jinny was. Jinny walked out before Kate could say anything.

Outside the ware house, CD and Nate, were walking up to it with there guns in their hand. Nate said, "I got your back."

Cd turned around and raised her eyebrows and said, "Wouldn't you like that?"

"I really do perfer the front." He smiled at her.

"Cute."

Nate said, "I thought so."

"You would." she smiled again.

"Hey," he said, "Your the one who started this."

"And if, we weren't out in the feild I would finish it." She said.

"Well, then lets get this done so we can get out of the feild, and I can get you out of them close."

"Hmmm," She said, "I will have to think about it, but your right, the sooner we get this done the better." She walked up to the door, and Made sure that Nate was behind her, and she yelled, "Police open up!" She knocked on the door, but nothing. "you have till the cound of five to open up. One...Two...Three...Four...Five...She tired the knob first, and to her suprise it opend right up, and she, and Nate walked up with their guns still up. They searched the ware house, but found nothing. They were turning around to leave when they hurd the door slam shut. They both ran to the door, only to find it locked.

Kate had walked out of the locker room and was heading back to her office. Once again Raina looked at her questiongly . Kate Just rolled her eyes, and asked if, there was any messages. And Raina with her excitment that the ADA Allen O'Conner was in the captaina office she forgot to tell Kate about Cd, and Nate. And Magda, was grabing some food, so she could tell Kate about Nate, and CD. Raina Smiled at her Captain.And Kate said, "What?!"

"Well," Raina had said with even more excitment. She looked like a little kid who had just won a prise. She had hurd about her Captain affair with Allen O'Conner.

Kate was getting annoyed, and said, "Would you just spit it out Raina."


"okay, Okay," Raina said, ADA O'Conner is in your office." She looked at her captain hopeing to see some kinda of excitment in her, but that never came. Only a look of dread.

Kate looked at Raina, and siad, "Thanks." Kate walked the rest of her way to her office and opened her door. Walked in, and shut it.

Raina thought to herself damn if only i could be a fly on the wall...Then again she thought cap would get a fly swater, and kill her.

Back in Kate office, Kate said, "Hello, Allen. What can I do for you today?" She was playing dumn and they both knew it.

"Playing stupied doesn't look good on you Kate. Why don't we stop playing games, and get right down to the point."

"Well, now if, I knew what you were talking about I wouldn't have to play stupid now what i?" Kate said trying to act siveil.

He knew well enough to know that she could go back, and forth with him so he might as well get to the point. "Look, Kate I know that you had one of your friends form child servious pull some strings."

"Annnnnnd, your point being?" She asked.

God, she was annoying the crap outta him. She knew how to puch on his buttones. Hell he thought she was the one that instaled them. "My point being that I am gonna look like a full when I have to bring this case to cort. The jude is going to laugh me out of court. Then were is that little boy going to be."

Kate looked at him getting angry herself again, and said, "That's not my problem. Your the laywer YOU figure it out!"

Allen stood up from his chair, and placed his hands on the deck, and said, "You know damn well this has nothing to do with that little boy. YOu have been looking for a reason to get back at me, and you found it!"

Kate stood up as well, and put her hands on her desk and leand forward, so that they were both face to face. "You SOB..I guess you never did know me if, you think that I would put a little boy's life in danger, just so that I could get back at you, for chooseing that...." Kate didn't have to think of a name for the person, but she choose not too. She choose to change the subject. She really didn't want to have to work with him on this case, but if, they worked togother then maybe they could figure out a way that this casue would work in court. "Look, Maybe we should try to work this out bfore going to court...I will try to do what I can to help."

He looked at her, and said, Sure, why don't we go out to dinner, and talk about it tonight?"

"What you trying to get me out on a date with you?" Kate spat out. She starting walking for the door so she could kick him out. "What is she out of town, and you are loney?!"

He knew were she was going and he blocked off the door. "Kate I wouldn't do that. Maybe it's you that didn't know me. Becides you were the one always pushing me away, and not letting me to close to you. I figured you would be happy to get rid of me."

"Did you ever stop to think..." She stoped herslef this was not the place to go into it. no place was she thought. "You know what? Never mind I want you out of my office!"

He Knew that if they didn't talk now they never would, "Kate, we have to talk about this cause if, we don't then we will never get past this."

Kate stoped, and took a deep breath. She turned her back on him, and now as he put his hands on her arms she felt the worm shever that went down her back. "Stop." She pleaded, because she didn't know how much more she could take before she turned around, and kissed him.

"Kate," He said, "You can still feel it, the spark that we feel for each other..."

She cut him off...That had been her last stral, she pushed her away, enough, so that he took a couple of steeps back. "Do you realize how much you hurt me? I let you into my life. I may not have interdosed you to my duaghter, but becides her I let you in.Something that I had done since my ex-husband. You know about my childhood, and about the afairs that my ex-husband. Then, after knowing all that you go, and marrie another women, and now you want me to forgive you?!"

It was Teddy Blumenthal. He walked in with a look of concern on his face. "Ummm... Hey, " he looked at Kate, and said, "I got to talke to you... Alone. It's important."

Allen figured that it had to do with a case, and so, he said, "I will leave the two of you alone, but I will talk to you later Kate." He walked out the door.

Teddy looked at Kate wondering what was going on, "Everything okay....? I mean with the two of you?"

Kate rolled her eyes, "Yeah everything is just fine" She changed the subject fast. She had an idea whey he was were, but she didn't want to assume anything.."So What can I do for you today?"

"It's Jinny" He said, and she had a knowing look on her face.

Cd, tired to open the door, but it was locked, "****." She said, " It won't open."

Nate with his 'manley powers' said, "Here, let me try." But it was no use it wouldn't open for him either. He pulled out his cell phone and tired to call the division, but his cell wouldn't work. He looked at CD and asked , Try, your cell phone. See if it works?"

She pulled out her cell, and tired to use it, but it was no good..Hers wasn't working either. They both looked around to see if there was any window, but there wasn't. Both of them got the same idea at the same time. They both went running to ram the door to try, and get it open, or to knock it down, but it was no use. The door was to heavey, and to well locked for them to have ramed it open. They both said at same time, "Ouch." CD Looked at Nate, "Well at least both Raina, and Magda know were we are. I am sure they will tell Captain, when we don't come back with the sepect." Nate looked at her as if, she remembered who she was talking about, and that when CD realized. "Oh, no! You mean I am stuck in this hell hole? For god knows how long with you?"

Nate looked hurt, "Gee, thanks. Most woment would be happy to be stuck in here with me."

CD, said, "I am sorry, Nate it's not you it's this place. I don't know why but it gives me the creeps."

"Aww," Nate said, giving cd a huge, "It's goning to be okay someone will find us."

Teddy, and Kate had talked about Jinny, and her depression. Teddy disagreed with her at first. He thought by her being away form work it would be better, but Kate conveinced him that working would be better for her. He was getting ready to leave when Magda knocked on the door, and asked to come in.

Once again, Kate said, "Come in."

Teddy looked at Magda and said, "I was just leaveing. I will leave the two of you alone."

"No actutley," Magda said, "I want you to stay. I know how Jinny is feeling and I came up with an idea that might help her."

Both Kate, and Teddy looked at Magda with cureyoisty, and asked, "What?"

"Well...Next week is her birthday right?" Magda asked Know that it was.

"Yes" Teddy said, "Why?"

"What better way to help someone feel better then to have a suprise partty for them. Right?" Magda asked.

Teddy said, "I really think that is a great idea."

Kate who was just watching this the whole time said, "Wait, I really don't think a suprise party is really a great idea."

"Well, Why not? Magda asked

Kate didn't want to answer the question. She didn't know if Magda, and Teddy knew what was also next week. If, they didn't then she didn't want to be the one to tell them. What, Kate new for sure though was that having a birthday party was Jinny wasn't a good idea. She only replyed, "I just don't."

Both, Magda and Teddy looked at Kate strangely. They didn’t get why she thought that. Teddy then said, “Some people it helps them to have a party gets their minds off of whatever their problems might be. I think this would be a good way to do that.”

“And some people being around people while their feeling depressed makes them feel more down.” Kate said

“Magda, said, “You have a point cap, but I think Jinny will like this.”

Kate put her hands up in the air; she thought ‘who would know Jinny better then the man that loves her, and her best friend.’ “Okay fine, you guys know her better then I do. So why not through her a party?” Kate still didn’t think it was a good idea, but she knew that she wasn’t going to win, so she just went along with it.

“Ohhh, this, is gonna be so much fun.” Magda cheered.

Raina heard her cheer, and came into the room and asked, “What going on?”

Teddy said calmly, “Oh, we were jut talking about a surprise party for Jen, and Magda good a little overly excited.”

“A little?” Kate laughed

Magda laughed back as she looked at Raina, and asked, “Hey, where’s CD, and Nate I want to tell them? Raina go an Uh Oh look on her face, and Magda said “OMG you didn’t tell Cap about where CD, and Nate were?”

“Ummm…” Raina said, “I forgot. I was on my way in here to tell her when I hear you yell. But, anyway they are in a war house on 29 street; they have been there for a long time. I was thinking maybe you should send a few of us down there to make sure ever thing is okay.”

Kate looked at Raina sarkastily, and said, “You think? Why don’t you and Mag go check it out? First check their cell phones if they don’t respond go there with a couple of uniforms.”

Magda said, “Okay cap.” And Raina just nodded her head for you reply. They both walked out of the room together.

Teddy Looked at Kate, and said, “Hey I have some things that I have to do. I will talk to you later. Okay?”

Kate said, “Yeah sure thing.”

“Oh yeah, “ Teddy said, “If, there is anything that I can do to help with Allen let me know.”

Kate, smiled, and said, “Thanks, but I don’t think there is much anyone can do.”

CD, and Nate, had looked for a way out, but they couldn’t find one. Their suspect really wanted them in there. Or at least someone did. It was a pretty good guess though it was the suspect. They had both given up and sat down on a box. It was strong enough that it would hold them both. CD looked at Nate, and said, “Soooo now what?”

“Nate said, “I guess we wait.”

CD thought, “great, we could be in here the rest of our lives.” Then she said, “Well let’s just hope that there isn’t to much gossip for Raina to forget that we are in here.”

Nate looked at CD he didn’t want to think about where they were right now. All he wanted to do was have her. He put his hands around her, and started kissing her. She returned the kiss. She thought she didn’t know how much more of this she could take.

Jinny was sitting down in her family room listening to music when there was a knock on her door. “Who could that be?” She thought. Then she went over to the peek whole, and looked out. She had this huge smile on her face as she opened the door. She asked “Teddy, What are you doing here?”

“I thought that I would come over here, and surprise you.” He handed her some purple lilies, Knowing they were her favorite.

“Thanks,” she said with a smile. “Shouldn’t you be at work?”

“Well, he said, “I am taking the rest of the day off to be with you. Is that okay?

“Yeah that’s fine. I love being around you.” She smiled again.

So, Uhhh… How ya feeling?” He asked not sure what to say.

“Me Uh well I think, I am doing a little bet better, but not much.” She said, getting a little sadder.

“Well, I am going to get you mind off of things. Come on.” He took her hand, and led her out her door. They got in his care, and he drove for a while. They were both content with the silence. The windows were down, and the wind was going though both of their hair. Jinny was just enjoying this, they they arrived at a park. Teddy got out, and walked around to her side of the car, and opened the door for her. She goes out, and took his hand. He took her though the trails of the park. It was a beautiful day out. Not to hot, and not too cold. The wind was just right. When they got done with their walk. Teddy had a picnic all ready for them to eat.

Nate, was laying on top of CD. They were still kissing as he started un buttoning her shirt. It was then they hurd the police sirens. They both froze. Then got up. CD button her shirt back up, and said, "Damn, they have the worse timing."

Nate agreed, "Yeah they do. It never fails when ever we start making out they always call or show up." He would have said that with a smilie, but he didn't at all find it funny, more llike furstrated.

On the out side they heard Raina say "Police come out with your hands up!"

CD Yelled back, "Raina, There's no one else in here except for me, and Nate. Were locked in here."

Magda said, "Oh, just wait one sec..We well get you out of there."They un did the locks, and let them both out.

Raina, nearly laughed, she cleared her throught, and said, "Shareing CD's lip stick there were you?"

Nate shrughed, and said, "Ummm, My lips were chaped, and I... uh.... I asked CD if she had any cap stick, but she didn't, and dared me to put on her lip stick so I did."

Magda, and Raina both laughed, and Magda asked, "Well then, CD can you explain how come your shirt is done up wrong?"

CD was at a lost for words, "I uhh well...Hey ya know what I am not a sepect so, I don't have to answer you questions."

CD walked away to get into her car, Nate was following her, and as he left both raina, and Magda He said "Yeah, What she said."

Raina, and Magada both laughed, and got back in there cars.

Jinny, and Teddy were driving back to Jinny place. She thanked him for the pincik, and the nice flowers, and everthing else.

Teddy, Said, "You don't have to thank me. I did it casue I love you."

Jinny smiled at him this was the sweewst thing that any one as ever done for her. "I am sorry for last night."

"What do you have to be sorry for." Teddy asked.

"I don't know" Jinny said, "I just don't like to depend on people I guess."

Teddy parked the car at her place, and looked at her, and said, "Well maybe you should learn how to depend on some people." He wasn't trying to be rude he just wanted her to see that he loved her, and that she was everything to him.

They got out of the car, and walked into her place. To Jinny's suprise there was a man standing in her house with a tux on. She had Tuns of candles lit all around her house, and the guy asked Teddy, "Is everthing to your liking sir?"

"Yes" Teddy said, "It is, thanks."

Jinny looked at Teddy, suprised, "What's going on? I don't have the money for this?"

Teddy put his finger on her lips, and siad, "Shhh...My treat." She went to aruge with him, but he stopped her my planting a kiss on her.

that's night had gone by quick Jinny was now at work the next day. She had brought in one of the female neaibors. She was in intergaction room one. The women had been brought in for questioning before about her be a Mandom, but all charges were always droped. Her name was Tina. She was in her mid to late twentys. Kinda yourng to be a madom, but what else were they souposed to think when the lady had body gards around her, and most the women that lived in her house worked nights. Tina had always explianed though that the women that she had in her house were all hnding from their abusive husbands. And this was her excuse for today too. Jinny was getting tired of it, and fast. "Unles you want me to have police cars following you around the clock. I sugest you tell me what you know." Jinny yelled. she was loseing her cool.

Tina just smirked at her, and said, "First off you can't do that. I have no reason. Secound I don't know anything."

Jinny yelled again, "Why are you sicking up for the Guy? Huh? He beats up his kid, and your doing nothing to help him. Oh wait, I wrong, You do help him. You let him stay at your house. Hell You are even the one who called the police this last time, but you know nothing help us?!"

Tina looked at Jinny now, she was pissed, "Maybe I would help you guys, if you could help that Kid, but no it takes him going to the hospial several times before you even get involved! And even then you can't protect him. Tell me why should I help you?!"


It took Jinny everything she had not to lung at Tina. Kate was in the obervation room, saw this, so she came out of there, and said, Jinnny I will take over."

Jinny thought that she was doing this cause her Captain didn't think she could do this, and yelled, "I can do this."

Jinny, Kate said, "I know you can do this, Look I know Tina, she might open up to me. That's the only reson why I was going to take over."

Tina said, sarkastickily, "Hardly."

Kate gave you a dirty look, and said, "Your coming with me." Kate knew she wouldn't get anything outta her, but she figured she would try to just the same. They walked to Kate's office, and Kate, shut the door, and said, "Have a seat."

Cd, and Nate had asked most of everybody if they had wanted something to eat, and to their suprise, eveyone said, no. Raina was still feeling guilty fo not saying anything to the Captain earlyer. BUt both CD, and nate were happy to be alone togother. So then they decided to go some place further away so they could be alone longer to gother, and so that way no one could see them. they went, and got some pizza together.
after they were done eating. They waalked back to the car hand, and hand. When they got in the car they started kissing, and for the first time no one walked up to them or anything. So they started to get into it more, and then they started taking there cloths off

Jinny still thought that the only reason that her captain had taken over the intergation was becasue she thought that Jinny couldn't handle it. Or maybe not, Maybe cap really did know this women. I mean after all why would she have taken her to her office if she handn't known. witch brought but the question she said to her self, "How well does cap know this tina? Why does she know her?"

"What was that?" Magda asked

"Hmmmm, Ohh.."Jinny said, "I was just thinking out loud..sorry."

CD, and Nate were trying to cover up their blushes. Nate, said, "No, I didn't."

Jinny smiled, and asked, "What was that?"

Raina, butted in,a nd said, "Oh, Nate, and CD were just making out yesterday is all, and CD also, "Had her buttons on her shirt done up wrong."

CD glared at Raina, and Jinny saw this. She hated goisp, and now she was sorry she asked. They could tell that she was trying to fight back tears, she looked at CD, and Nate, and said, "Sorry. I didn't know." She tired to go back to her case file, but it was no use..She didn't get it why would something so stupid make her cry. She got up, and ran to the bathrrom. And Magda had followed her.

"You know damn well why I am upset with the law! They didn't help me, and they didn't help you until you..." She stopped her shelf, and said, "I am sorry. I know you hlped me me as best as you could. I didn't mean to sound un greatful.

Kate, said, "I know you are greatful. but, uhhh....since you brought it up how is he?"

Tina was getting more angry, but not at Kate, well kinda her too, sometimes she thought maybe if Kate had stped in she would have been beaten as a kid."I haven't talked to him in a long time. You know he your father too. You could ask him just as easly as I could."

Kate looked at her almost motherly, and said, "You know that I haven't talked to him in years. Even longer then that, before you or your sister was born."

Jinny put a some cold water when she finely got to the bathroom. She was so embaraced. Magada came walking though the door, and asked her if she was okay? "ARe you okay? "

"I will be fine in a minute.."She tried to say this next part as a joke, "You know I just need that daily cry.."She hald laughs and says, "Now that i have I should be fine."

Magda looked at her seriously, and asiked, "Have you made a docters appiontment?"

"What is it with you people, and docters?" Jinny asked nearly getting ticked off. "First Teddy, and now you."

"Jin, I am sorry. It's just that were all worried about you that's all."

"I know I know." Jinny said. "It's just that it's just some little stated of depression. I get over it."

Magda asked, "And what if, you don't get over it?"

Jinny rolled her eyes, and Said, "Well then I guess I will just have to see I docter then."

"Good," magda said, "You ready to go back to work?"

Jinny half laughed again, and said, "Not really, but yes, I am ready."

"I am sorry Kate. I know you don't talk to him. I can't blame you myself. Ever since my mom died, I haven't scean a point in going to see him. She was the only reason that I did." Tina said

Tina and Kate had shared the same father, but not the same mother. Tina, had another sister couple years older then she was. Kate didn't know her that welll. The only reason that kate knew about her sister's, was becasue she she had gotten a call about domsitick volince, and her police parter at the time had been the ones who got the call. When she got over there she found out that it was her father. She septed down form the case, but was ticked to find out that he had two new daughters that he could beat. She had tried to get them out of that home, but there wasn't much at the time she could do. Finely when Tina had turned seventeen there was something Kate could do, but the sad part of it all was that is was the fact that she could do something was becasue, Tina's mother had died. Tina had gone, but lived with her older sister for while, but the two didn't get a long, so Taina had lived with Kate until she was eighteen. She couldn't handle all the roles that Kate had, so she had movied out with her boyfriend. He had beaten her on several ocitaions. That is when she got the money to buy, and fix up that house, and she let women with abusive husbands live there until the could get back on their own feel. Kate said, "I bet you sister isn't to happy that your not talking to him."

She glared at kate. Tina didn't have much respect for her sister. She had lots of respect of Kate, but her other sister was another story. Tina said, "I really don't care wither she is happy or not."

"Ouch," Kate said "That was harsh."

Tina looked at her, and said, "But ture."

Kate, had to try, and get her to talk to her about the boy."Please Tina, Help this little boy. Make a statemnt to my inspeters. If, Not for me then do it for yourslef."

Tina looked at she felt bad now for, but wasn't gonna let Kate Know..."Fine, I do it...NOT for you though. For the boy."

Tina, had always reminded Kate of Jinny, maybe cause they both had an acted some much like, but Kate coulnd't be sure. "Kate looked at her, and Said, "Good, I will got get Jinny, and Magda so they can take your statement."

CD, and nate had just gotten another lead on their suspect. THis time they were gonna go tell thier captaina, so that there was no mistake as to where they were. They got to Kate's office, and they both knocked at the same time, and Just kinda smiled at each other. THey hurd Kate say come in. THey both grabed the door handle. There was a spark between the two of them, and they stared at each other. Cd said, "Sorry, and moved her hand off the knob.

Nate smiled, and said, "Oh no that's okay." He opend the dorr for CD, and she walked though. Nate said, "We have another lead on that sucpect."

Kate said "alreat take back up this time." Cd, and Nate nodded, and left.

Tina, and Kate were still sitting there, and tina asked, "Who's he?"

Kate replyed, "Off liments to you."

"Does he have a girl friend?" tina asked

Kate looked at her much yourger sister, and said, "On the recard No he does't. Now off the record that's a differnt storry."

Tina simled at Kate, "I promice I won't tell anyone."

Kate looked at her, and said, "Okay fine. Off the record, I woul say that the women that just left this room was his girlfrined."

Tina facked hurt, "I had a feeling." she laughed. She got up form her cair, and so did Kate.

Cd, and Nate were on the way out, and Nate aked Raina, if she wanted to come along.

Raina yelled, "I get to go with the love birds!" In kinda like a sing song voice.

Raina was right behind them, and CD turned around, and said, In a threating voice, "What was that?"

Rriana some what scared said, "Nothing, nothing. I was just umm singing a song about birds... Uhhh Yeah... that's it."

"I thought so." Cd said, and as Nate pulled her along. They left the buliding.

Kate, and tina came walking out of her office, and kate said, "Jinny, Magda, I think that Tina is ready to talk to the both of you about the little boy."

"Hey thanks, cap." Magda said

Yeah, " Jinny said in aggrement.

"It's all in a days work. Kate said.

Tina looked at her again, and said, "I am not doing this becasue of you."

I hope people are still reading this...:D It's been a LONG time since I have posted on this. I hope you enjoy. I didn't get as fare as I would have liked, but here's more...

Jinny Kate, Magda, and Tina went into the integration room. Tina explained every thing that had happened to that little boy. Or at least the things that she knew of. It took about an hour, and every thing, was done. They still had a long way to go, but they had someone who would testify as to what happened to the little boy. Jinny asked, “Okay, Cap, we are done with her, can we leave now?” Even though Jinny wasn’t sure as to why Cap knew this person, or how she was sure that she would want to be alone with her.

Kate nodded, and said, “Yeah, Thanks you guys.”

Jinny, and Magda, nodded there head, and said, “Your welcome.” After they left Magda looked at Jinny, and asked, “I wonder who Kate is to that girl?”

Jinny looked at Magda, and said, “I don’t know, but it none of our business.”

Magda smiled and said, “OH Jin, your no fun!”

Jinny didn’t smile she wasn’t in the mood. She was still feeling depressed, and it seemed nothing was helping her. She tired to make it sound like a joke, but it really didn’t… ”Yeah. Yeah. I know.”

Magda stopped Jinny from walking, “Jinny, what happened to the person who didn’t take life so seriously? Huh? I miss that person.”

Jinny frond, “That person doesn’t exist any more! Why can’t you people just leave it alone!”

“We can’t leave it alone Jinny because we love you too much! You think we like seeing you hurt like this?” Magda asked

“NO!” Jinny said, “But none of you can help because none of you understand what the hell I am going though! When you wake up in the morning, and you can’t face the day, because your to scared, or this life isn’t worth living, then you can come talk to me!”

Jin, everyone at some point feels that in their life, but you have to movie on.” Mag tried to make her understand.

Jinny looked a Magda, and said, “Tell me? Do you wake up every morning, and wonder and hope that this is the day that you get shot on the job, or that maybe you might have the courage to take your own life?”

Magda couldn’t believe this was her best friend standing in front of her. Magda was kinda sad to here these things come out of her. “No Jinny I don’t! I have a son to think about. Jinny you need to grow up! Go get some help!”

Jinny wasn’t only depressed now, but up set as she started storming off, “Go to hell!”

“No, Jinny,” Magda yelled after her, “You’re the one that will go to hell if, you kill your self.”

Back in the interrogation room Kate looked up at her half sister, “So, was that so bad?”

Tina just smirked at her, “Yeah, I was in here with you!”

“Haha,” Kate said, “Tina you just think you’re so funny. Don’t sha?!”

Tina smiled, “It not something I think I know.”

“Yeah?” Kate said, “Well, one day it will get you into trouble.”

This time Tina laughed, “It wouldn’t be the first time.”

“True.” Kate said, “I have to get back to work, but uhhh maybe we can go out to lunch one day here soon?”

That sounds good to me.” Tina said, “Just let me know when.” She joked, “And you’re paying!”

Kate smiled, “I would have it any other way.” They both walked out of the room. Kate had her arm around Tina, and Tina had her arm around Kate. Kate said, “Oh, Yeah, and uhh, Thanks for today.”

Tina started, “I didn…”

But Kate cut her off, “I know… I know, You didn’t do it for me! I got that already!”

Tina smiled, “Okay then, as long as you understand that. I will see you around then.”

“Yeah.” Kate smiled, and have her a hug, “Take care of yourself.”

She hugged her back, “I always do. Bye.”

“Bye,” Kate said, and then Tina was gone.”

That day had gone be fast. Everyone had left except of Kate, and Magda. Magda walked into Kate’s office, and said, “Can I talk to you alone for a minute?”

“Of, coarse.” Kate said, “What is it?”

“It’s about Jinny, “She’s not getting any better. I just don’t know what to do.” Magda said clearly worried about her friend.

Kate looked at Magda, Kate knew Magda wasn’t ready to hear these things about her best friend, but Kate had to tell her, “Mag, Sometimes, in life we have to let things go it own coarse, and let it ride out.”

Magda frond, “And what if, that means that she tries to kill herself?”

Kate herself was saddened herself to think this, but she had to tell Magda what they might be in for. “Magda then that means she tries to kill herself. I can’t take control of her life. She’s a grown woman who can make her own choices for herself. Whither they are right or wrong.”

“You are wrong Cap, we can’t let choose that.” Magda tried to argue her point.

Kate sighed, “Magda it’s not our choice it’s hers.”


Magda sighed herself, “Maybe that party for her next week will help.”

Kate didn’t know how to explain this to Mag, but she really didn’t think the party was such a got idea. She knew that Casey was coming in here to talk to her soon about it himself. “Magda, I really wish you would re consider that party, I don’t think it’s a good idea.”

“Well why not?” Magda asked

“Mag I really can’t tell you, “Look just re-think this talk to Teddy. Tell him to re consider too.”

Mag looked at Kate she couldn’t believe that she was thinking the party wasn’t going to work. “Look Cap with all do respect I don’t agree.” She looked at her watch, “OH, my God, I am late picking up Ben, I have to go.”

“Okay Magda, “Kate said, “But please, re think this whole party idea. Ask Casey about it. See what he thinks.”

Magda nodded, “Okay I might just do that. Bye Cap, Thanks for your time.”

“Your welcome, “Kate said. Magda left. Kate kept on working on the files that she had to work on. It was a half and hour later, and she heard a knock on her door.” Come in.” She said

Casey walked in, and said, “Thanks for seeing.”

“Your welcome” Kate said,, “What did you need to see me about?”

Casey stated, “It’s about Jinny. Well more about the party that surprise party that Magda, and Teddy are planing.”

“What about it?” Kate asked, even though she had a pretty good idea what Casey was going to say.

“Well, He said, “You know what happened when my mom was thirty six, and well…Well you know?”

“Yes, “ Kate nodded sadly, “I know Casey, and I agree with you I don’t think they should have the surprise party. Do you have any ideas as to how to get them not to have the party?” Kate asked

“That’s why I am here, I was hopping that you knew of an idea.” Casey said sadly

Kate slowly shock her head, “I am so sorry, I tried to get them to stop, but they think it will get her out of her depression.”

“It’s okay, “ Casey said kind of dejected.

Kate smiled at his trying to make it a little a better. IF, I figure out anything, I will be the first to tell you though.”

“Thanks Cap.” He said, and got up from his chair, “I will do the same. Have a good night” He said

Thanks Kate smiled, You too.”

A week had gone by fast. Jinny wasn’t feeling any better, and the closer she got to her birthday the more depressed she got. Now matter how much she loved Teddy, and she did, even he couldn’t see to help. Jinny could tell that Magda, and him were keeping something from here, but she wasn’t sure as to what. She hoped it wasn’t something huge. She didn’t know how much more of this she could take. Every time she was alone she would cry. She though of her mom more, and more. She wondered if, she wouldn’t be better off with her mom. She didn’t want to be sad anymore, and she didn’t want to fight anymore. She was too tired to fight.

CD and Nate’s case was going no were. Every time they thought they were getting some where the prep was one step a head of them. They were starting to think that the guy was planting evidence for them to find. If, that was the case, he had to of known forsceneicks. Nate, and CD were becoming closer, and closer. They were going on dates, but they still hadn’t had sex. Both one of them was ready, and they wanted the moment to be special.

Allen, had continued trying to get back Kate, even though he was still married. And every time Kate had turned him down. Even with that they both worked on the case against the father, and were getting some were. So were Magda, and Jinny. It was the day of Jinny’s thirty-sixth birthday, she had taken the day off. She wanted to be alone for most of it so she could think. She was starting to think that was a bad idea. She thought maybe if, she got out, and went to the park, and got some lunch, and just watched the kids play everything would look better. She grabbed some fast food, and headed towards the park. She looked at her watch, and remembered that she was meeting Teddy at her dad’s place, but she couldn’t figure out why. ‘Oh, well’ she thought, ‘as long as it’s quite, and not a lot of people there I won’t mind. She sat down on a park bench, and started eating her hamburger, and fries. But she soon found that the park wasn’t a good idea either. She had remembered her mother, and how she used to sit on the park bench. Jinny remembered Smiling at her mother, and waving at her. Jinny suddenly remember the tear that was excepting from her mother’s eye. ‘Was her mother ever happy? Did she love her kids? More important, did she love Jinny?’ Did she love Jinny?” All these thoughts were passing though her head. And the more she thought of it the more sad she became. And the tears came rolling down her face. A little boy came running by, and handed her a flower, well a dandy lion anyway.

The little boy said, “I hope that makes you stop crying Ms.”

Jinny smiled, a weak smile, and said, “Thanks. I am sure that it will.” With that Jinny got up, and through her stuff away, and headed home to get ready to meet Teddy over at her dad’s house.

Kate was in her office, and it was about five thirty, and she heard a knock on her door, She looked up to see Casey, “Hey come in.”

He walked in, and took a seat. “I guess we never came up with that idea as to stop the party?!”

Kate smiled, “No, I am sorry we didn’t.”

Casey asked, “Are you coming?”

Kate said, “oh, I am not sure that is such a good idea.”

Casey looked at her, and pleaded, “Please… If, something happens, I don’t know, I just think it might help if you were there.”

She looked at him surprised, “Me?! You sure you got the right person?!”

Casey smiled, “Yeah, I am sure. For some reason you have this way with her, that no one else does. Not even dad, or Teddy.”

“Kate smiled at him, “I am glad that you think that, but you’re wrong. I don’t have anything that has ever helped Jinny.”

“No, “ He said, Your wrong. Even if she won’t say it she loves, you, and in many ways, I think sees you as the mother she never had. No matter how much problems she has given you.”

Kate still surprised, “Well okay I will come, but for the record, I am not so sure this is a good idea.”

“Great!” Casey smiled, “I will see you at six then.”

Kate said, “Umm, I don’t think so.”

“But you just said….”

“Casey,” Kate interrupted, “I still have to get home, and get ready.”

“Oh, Yeah “ He said, “Okay will I will see you tonight then?”

“Yep Kate nodded her head, “About seven.”

“Sounds good.” Casey said, “I will see you then. Bye.”

“Bye.” Kate said, and couldn’t help but laugh at his exsiment, He kinda reminded her of Raina. She would think to set them up, but knew that Casey was gay, so it wouldn’t work.

Everyone was at the party, but Kate, and Jinny. They saw a car comes, up, and someone yelled, “Everyone hide! It’s Jinny care!”

Jinny got out her keys, and let herself, in, and Yelled for her dad, and Teddy when everyone jumped out and yelled surprise!”

Jinny jumped, This was the last thing she expected. She tried to smile, but it was working. She said ‘Thanks everyone.” Trying to be nice. After all they had gone to all this trouble.

Teddy came, in and gave her a huge hug, and a kiss. “I love you honey!”

She still had the fake smile on, and said, “Um, I love you to.”

He looked at her knowing that something was bothering her, “Jinny what’s wrong?”

“Nothing !” She said trying to cover they way she was feeling, but not doing a good job at it. She had been remembering things about her mom all day. Her smile, and most of all her sadness. And once again, being here in the house were she grew up in wasn’t helping either, it just made the thoughts come faster. She tried to take a deep breath so she could breath up nothing was coming out.

Teddy guided her to the kitchen, and said, “Here maybe if, you have some food.”

Jinny’s father came up to her, and gave her a hug, and said, “Happy birthday Jinnygirl!”

Jinny could barley get out the “Thanks.” Her breathing was becoming more rapided, and harder for her to breathe. The thoughts of her mother where raising though her mind faster and faster. The tears were flowing and she couldn’t stop them. She didn’t know what was happening to her, and she didn’t care to know. She said ‘Excuse me!” She ran from everybody, and got in her car.. She was still crying and said, “I can’t do this anymore.” For her, her life was coming to and end, and there was nothing that anybody could do or say.

Well as you all know the characters don’t belong to me, and neither does the song. The song belongs to Evanescence. The song title is “Bring Me to Life” This is the first song fic that I have ever done so take it easy on me, and I don’t know how good it will be. Cross-fingers!

Teddy ran out the door to try and ketch up with her, but he was to late. He came back into the house and said, “I couldn’t keep up she was to fast!”

Casey was upset, “I told you guys that this wasn’t a good idea! But did you listen? No!”

Magda asked, “How were we supposed to know that she would get upset.”

Teddy said, “Okay everyone calm down. It’s clear that something is going on here.” He looked over at Casey, “There was a reason you, and the Captain didn’t want to have this party, Why?”

Casey had tears in his eyes, “It’s because…”

John SR. said, “No that’s not what it is! Casey don’t even go there, it’s not worth talking about.”

Teddy looked concerned, “It is important, if that is the reason that Jinny ran out of here.”

John looked scared, It was a family secret that had stayed with them for a long time, and as fare, as he was concerned it wasn’t the problem. “Look that’s not the reason that she ran out of here, I know her. She’s strong, and tuff, stronger then all of us in this room.

Casey nodded, “Normally. But think about it dad, what day is it?”

“It’s Jinny’s birthday, and that’s all!” John Sr. Yelled

“Dad!” Casey yelled, “It’s time you woke up!”

The front door was wide open, and Kate came walking though the door. “What the hell is going on?” She asked

“Jinny got really upset after she walked in for the surprise party.” Teddy told her, “Can you tell me why these two are to busy fighting over it!”

Kate muttered, “Uh,” Kate tried to lie, “I have no idea.”

Casey said, to Kate, “We, have to find her. Before…before she to ends up like mom!”…..?

Teddy asked, “Wait do you mean to tell me that she is going to try, and take her own life?”

Both Kate and Casey nodded their heads.

Teddy without thinking much about said, “Well come on lets split up, and find her, who ever is the first person to find her calls the others.”

Everyone agreed. CD grabbed Nate and said, “He, and I will check on the bars close to here. And some of the conveint stores. Everyone went his or her separate ways. Kate and Casey were one of the last two. They both went to go two different ways. On their way out Kate saw a family picture when they were kids, and their mom was in the picture. Kate got an idea, “Hey Casey, I have got an idea, why don’t you go to the SFPD, and see if, she is there, and I will meet you down there. I have an idea as to where she might be.”

Casey said, “Well then I am going with you!”

“Casey we are wasting time. I have no idea that my idea is right. I will call you if, I am. Okay?” Kate asked

Casey wasn’t sure, but he agreed, “I want to do what’s best for Jinny, and if, that is what’s best then that’s what I will do.” They both left in their separate cars.

As Kate was driving she said, to herself, “I hope I am not to late!”

Jinny pulled into a parking spot. It was clear that she was already drunk. She had drunk about half the vodka that was in the bottle. She got out a second bottle of vodka, and a bunch of pills prescribed by a doctor . She got out of her car, and started walking. Tears were in her eyes. This was it this was it all was going to end. She walked passed several graves, until she got to the one she desired. “Mom, How could you?” Falling to the ground, and opening her bottle of vodka. She takes a big drink of it. “What did I do to you to make you kill yourself on my birthday?! Was I that bad of a kid that I made you want to kill yourself?!” Jinny was suabbing by now. She couldn’t control the tears. She took out a hand full of the drugs and put them into her mouth. She took another huge drink of the vodka.

I LOVED YOU! AND YOU LEFT ME AND CASEY, AND JOHN JR. I HAD TO TAKE CARE OF THEM BECAUSE DAD WASN’T NEVER THERE, AND YOU WERE DEAD! AND IT’S ALL BECAUSE OF ME” Taking another hand full of drugs, and a drink to wash them down. “It doesn’t matter now, I know why you killed yourself, and it was because of me. Well you won’t have to worry I will kill myself too. Everyone else will be much happier if, I weren’t around.”

She was fighting off the sleep as she mumbled, “I hate you…I hate you….I want to be with my mother..” Her head jerked as her eyes started to shut, but she forced them back open, and took yet another handful of drugs. And her head started drifting again.

Kate got out of her car unsure that this was the right place. She had grabbed a few blankets incase they were needed. This place had given her the creeps, and for some reason more so this night. She thought to herself, ‘this has to be were Jinny is.’ The wind was becoming faster as it wiped though Kate hair; witch gave her a chill deep with in her body. She pulled her coat closer to her. The further Kate walked the worse the chill got. She walked passed several things. And non-of them being Jinny. Kate couldn’t see much of anything anymore so she got her flashlight out. She was looking from side to side when she nearly tripped over a boot. She used her flash night to look up, and down the body. She cried out, “Jinny! OMG Jinny!” Jinny was lying there, and not moving. Kate bent down took off her glove, and felt for a pulse. Kate couldn’t feel one. She quickly called 911 to get an ambulance, and tell them where she was. Kate moved Jinny to her back so she could start CPR. Kate did two breaths, and felt for a pulse again, but there was none. She put her head down by Jinny mouth to see if, there was any breath that she could feel on her face coming form Jinny, but there wasn’t. Kate got on top of Jinny limp body, and locked her elbows in to start doing Chest Compressions. She did the counting. One and, two and, three and, four and, five and, six and, seven and, eight and, nine and, ten and, eleven and, twelve and, thirteen and, fourteen and, fifteen… Kate quickly gave Jinny two breaths, and started the Fifteen compressions again. She did this for one minute, and checked Jinny pulse again, and her breathing, but nothing. So Kate started the Fifteen compressions again. And gave to two breaths into Jinny’s mouth. Kate yelled this time, “C’Mon Jinny, breath damn it breath! She have Jinny two more breaths, and started the compressions again. This time Jinny started coughing, and Kate turned Jinny on her side as Jinny started throwing up. Jinny was shivering. Kate took off her coat, and put it on Jinny. She pulled the blankets around Jinny, and told her, “It’s going to be okay. We love you Jinny! I never should have let you do this to yourself. I am so sorry.”

Jinny was softly crying, “Why…? Why? Did you save me? I shouldn’t be here I don’t belong here!” Jinny cried

“Jinny do you realize how many people love you? If, you die they die too, maybe not in the same way, but in a million different ways they die. Remember that girl that you used to before you mom killed herself? What happened to her?” Kate asked

Jinny said sadly, “That little girl died a long time ago with her mom, and I will never get her back.” Jinny said weekly.

Jinny head started dropping again, and her eyes started closing. Kate slapped her face gently. “C’mon on Jin stay awake.” Jinny eyes popped back open, “There you go Kate said, “No, Jinny that little girl is still right here. She is crying out for her mother. Jin she is crying out for you. Begging you not to make that same mistake. Feel…her Jin feel her cry out to you… Can you hear her asking for help?”

Jinny pulled her hands over her ears, “No NO! I don’t want to feel her…No please Jinny cried out “make her shut up!”

“Jinny, She won’t shut up.” Kate said quietly

“Why?” Jinny Moaned out

Because” Kate said, “She in your hart. She’s a part of you. She doesn’t want to die she want to live.”

Jinny couldn’t help for crying for the person she was but for the child she was the inter child that she had lost, but now she had found. The question was, Was What would she do with this new found information?”

Jinny sat there crying in Kate’s arms. Jinny asked, “Promise me that you will never leave me?” The tears were falling more, and more down Jinny’s face. “Promise you will always be there for me, no matter what mistakes I make.”

Kate whispered in Jinny’s ear, “I promise you. I will never give up on you.”

Jinny made Kate say, “No Matter what I do.”

Kate smiled, “No matter what you do. Jinny I will always be there for you.” Kate was gently stroking Jinny hair. Jinny’s eyes started drifting again, and her head fell back. Kate yelled, “Jinny stay awake, You only have a few more minutes before the ambulance gets here, but this time it did no good Jinny lay her head back, and didn’t move, and her eyes shut. Kate quickly felt for a pulse again. There was still a pulse, and Kate could see her chest raise and fall. So she knew Jinny was still breathing. Since Kate couldn’t keep her awake she decided she would at least try and keep her warm until the ambulance got there.

It was about fifteen minutes later. Jinny was still asleep when the ambulance got there. Kate quickly explained the over dose, and everything else, and how she had been awake, and everything. One of the men looked at Kate, and said, “Mrs. you did wonderful job keeping her alive. I can’t tell you much though, once we get her to the hospital they will be able to tell you more.”

Kate asked, “Is, it okay if, I ride along with her? I am her friend.” Kate knew the look the man was giving her wasn’t a good one, “Please!” Kate pleaded, “She is like a daughter to me.”

The guy decided Kate could come with them in there.

They got to the hospital, and Kate quickly called Casey. Casey didn’t even brother to ask who it was. He didn’t care as long as they knew were Jinny was. “Where is she?” Casey asked

Kate didn’t even know where to begin, but she said, “Casey she’s in the hospital. The doctors are looking at her right now.”

“What?!” Casey demanded to know what was going on, “What’s going on? Is she going to be okay?”

Kate got real quite. She was unsure as to wither or not she should tell him over the phone. But then again if, She prepared him, maybe when more of Jinny, and His family were there they could help control over what they said, and there anger. Of course then again anything was possible with Jinny’s family. “ Casey..” Kate started, “Jinny had a booze, and drug over dose, when I got there she wasn’t even breathing! But I did CPR, and now she is at least breathing.”

Casey sighed, “I will be right there.” He hung up, and said, a little prayer, “God, please I don’t ask for much, but if, you could find it in your hart to help my sister I will go to church every Sunday. Besides my dad she is the only thing I have left, and it just wouldn’t be the same with out her. I love her. Please, “ He begged. “The tears rolling down his face, “I will do anything. Just let her live.” Casey had tried to calm himself, but it was no use. He heard a noise behind him, and he looked. CD, and Nate were standing there.

CD asked, “Is everything okay? Did they find Jinny?”

Casey nodded his head yes, “She’s in the hospital, I was just going to leave when you guys came in.”

CD asked, “IS she okay?”

“I don’t know, Kate found her. She said that she had to give her CPR when she found her, but she was breathing by the time the ambulance got there.”

CD tried to be comforting, “Well I am sure that is good news Casey.”

“Yeah.” Nate said, “Why don’t we give you a ride down to the hospital.”

Slowly Casey just shock his head yes, and the lead him out of their, and two there car.

By now everyone had made it to the hospital, and they were waiting around for the doctor to come out, and tell them the news. They waited for what seemed like an eternity. Teddy was getting tired, he started on his way back to the Doctor, but before he could the doctor came out, and said, “I have some news………..”

Okay I thought this was only approate sp for this fanfic...Seeing as how I started this fic because of my depression. Those of you who know me know that I was on a six month leave of work for that reason. Well anyway due to surtan reasons I am back off from work. They were trying to fire me. They wrote me up and I am on a 90 day probaction. And if, I get wrighen up in those 90 days they can fire me. I know for a fact that they are not doing this to everyone. Just to anyone related to my hubby. Witch isn't fair to me, but hell if they can do it they will. after work last night I told my hubby that I wasn't f-ing going back to that place ever again. I mean I thought about hurting myself because of these damn people. I will have worked at this on Aprial 18 for 6 years. I would haven givien these people my life, but with in the last two years they have been trying to F with me, and my mind and have done a good job of it. It just so happend that I had a theripy app. today, and my docter said clearly I am not able to go back to work for these people. So here's my plain, I am going to put in my two week notice tomorrow..Cause I was off today. And ask them for my two weeks vaction. If, they don't agree to that then I have the docters accuse that says, I am unable to work. I figure F them they have screwed me enough. Those of you know The last time they nearly broke me. I didn't think I would EVER be able to get up again. I sat there and laid in bed for weeks. I cut myself off to everything, and everybody. I was able to eat or sleep. And nothing was getting better. I hated myself most of the time I still do. I feel like I am not good enough. But now I have to get over that, I have two weeks to find a job. Wish me luck... I should be on tomorrow sometime. LOL I will be looking for a job...


Loves and hugs to everyone except for those I work with they can go to hell!

Oh wait there was a reason to my maddes up there...I don't know if, in the next mounth or so I will have time to wright. that was most of my point, and to get out some of the feelings that I have about work. Okay anyway soorry.
