The fifth grade class is embarking on a fire prevention project, and several member of the class lobby Beaver to vote for them, for Junior Fire Chief. As Beaver tells the family about this at dinner, Ward urges Beaver to run for the position. He decides to, and wins.
He becomes an avid violation writer, even citing family members. His friend Mr. Gus eventually cools his ardor, stressing advice and cooperation.
