I'm confused. Why didn't they have a bigger send-off for Rhoda when she moved to New York at the end of the fourth season? "Lou's Second Date" is the last episode she appears in (good episode BTW, but doesn't mention anything about her leaving) and then all of a sudden in the next couple episodes they just casually mention how she's now living in New York. It also seems odd that they made that episode "Rhoda Morgenstern: Minneapolis to New York" a year prior and had Rhoda almost move to NY and then end up staying because she couldn't stand to leave her friends. What made her suddenly able to leave Minneapolis a year later? It seems like it would have made a lot more sense to have that be her last episode (not saying I didn't enjoy her around for an extra year though!) because it was a really nice, touching, reminiscent (sp?) episode between her and Mary and everyone. Hmmm...strange.

The reason Rhoda's move to NY wasn't explained is that the premise of "Rhoda" was that she was just visiting the Big Apple, until she met Joe and decided to move there. So, it wouldn't have made any sense to have this big farewell episode on TMTMS, when she was just supposed to be visiting. Unfortunately, in syndication, it's kind of confusing. I remember when I first started watching TMTMS, I used to think Mary and Val must've had some sort of falling out to make Valerie leave so suddenly that the writers couldn't even deal with it on the show.
