Grew up during the 80's, so these bands are from that era. I like dominating and thundering drum sound and these guys sure didn't disappoint.

Steve Smith of Journey: Modern Drummer magazine readers voted him the No. 1 All-Around Drummer five years in a row, and definitely deserve that praise. Very loud and in your face sound.

Mel Gaynor of the band Simple Minds: High speed song and a quick drummer that never takes a breather.

Myron Grombacher of Pat Benatar: You can see his energetic drumming style in this video.

Definingly two of the best drummers in the business, especially Bonham with his thundering drum sound. I am sure if he hadn't died in 1980, Led Zeppelin probably would have put put out few more albums.

Thanks Joe. Country music drummers seem to be more obscured than their Rock counter part. I'm guessing that is part due to country music being more star oriented than band oriented.

Thank you 80sTrivia for mentioning Phil Collins. When composing this tread I was thinking of putting him as honorable mention. He did some of his best drumming (beside Genesis) as a drummer for other artists such as Eric Clapton's song "Behind the Mask". Very dominating drum sound.

Until I saw your post, I thought the song "Sugar, Sugar" was from a real human performing band since it became #1 song in 1969's Billboard's Hot 100. And it is a funny video, especially at the end where the dog also trying to get a kiss from the girl LOL

Race's Girl, in your signature you wrote: Girls rock so there, boys. :drummer::rock::guitar:

Not too familiar with the band, but Vixen proved they can rock as hard as the boys with loud guitar and drums. And here is another proof:

I probably put Stewart Copeland of The Police at the same league as Neil Peart of the band Rush.
