Some trivia about Freddie for ya- Freddie guest-hosted the "Tonight Show" several times
(the last being Nov.15,'76).He was the youngest guest host in the show's history.(19 or 20 the 1st time). As far as I know, this record still stands!Johnny Carson loved Freddie. On Freddie's Dec.'73 "Tonight Show" debut,Carson called him to the couch for an unplanned chat(new comedians were expected to do their act and leave). This only happened around 4 times in Carson's entire 30 years, and Freddie's was one of them! This was known as a career-making event, and it wasn't long after that Freddie was singled out for "Chico and the Man".
Someone mentioned Freddie's fascination with the Zapruder film. This is also mentioned
in "Time" magazine's Feb.7,'77 article on Freddie's death.Strangely enough,I still remember watching Freddie guest-host the "Tonight Show" and having a guest who wrote a book about the assassination.Freddie asked the guy if he thought there was a conspiracy and he said no.Freddie said,"you don't?" as if he was shocked!(don't remember what else was said).
I think Freddie dated Raquel Welch for awhile.Anyone else remember this?
I also remember reading that Freddie was being considered for the lead role in "Saturday Night Fever".Can you imagine the movie with him instead of Travolta? Very interesting! What a shame that it didn't happen!
Just thought I'd mention this trivia for your entertainment/enjoyment.
