April, May, and June are common names, and there are people named August and January. If you HAD to pick one of the remaining seven months to name your kid (ok, oddball question, just go with premise) which would you choose? And why?

I picked September , that sounds the most pleasant to my ear. December second choice.

A boy would get August and he would get Auggie nickname.

I keep waiting for someone to write that their daughter October is highly offended by my question.

December second choice.

Nickname could be Dec (soft c, sounds like Dez) or Deci (sounds like Desi, as in Arnaz)

Or just the usual De De ! Plenty of options. I thought of that , which is why I also chose this but didn't vote for December and went with September . Also December is a happy month cause of Christmas . :)

September is beautiful for a name and long hot summer is over , but what nicknames would go with this ? Septi or Seppi ? They are similar to septic or sepsis ( two kimd of not pleasant things) !

And October and November are lovely months , but Oct. Reminds me of Octopus and November has the word No in it !

How cute !! :)

And August is also a last name as in Dan August . An old show with Burt Reynolds . And we know who guest starred in that , right ??!! :);)

In the world of rock music radio, October will always be Rocktober.

I wonder how many people realize that our months are named incorrectly. In Roman times, the year began in March and had ten months. When the calendar year was lengthened to reflect reality, the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth months, September, October, November and December (meaning seven, eight, nine, and ten) were each moved back two months.

I knew. December is the 12th month, but many things with the dec beginning (e.g. decade, decathlon) deal with groups of 10.

The months of July and August were added last. They were named after Julius and Augustus Caesar. Because they were named after emperors, they were given the extra day so as to not insult the emperors, which is why both July and August have 31 days. To make up for this, days were cut from the last month of the year. When January replaced March as the beginning of the year, February became the second month instead of the last month. That's why February has 28 days instead of 30.
