Over the last couple years, several streaming services — most visibly Max, Disney+, and Hulu — have decided that the cost of platforming too many old library titles was just too high, given the residuals that would have to be paid out, among other factors.

NBC's 1980 Shōgun miniseries is finally available to stream, on Paramount+ (https://www.vulture.com/article/shogun-1980-streaming-how-to-watch.html#:~:text=As%20Vulture%20pleaded%20for%20last,long%20opening%20credits)%20on%20Paramount%2B.)

As Vulture pleaded for last month, the original Shōgun miniseries from 1980 is now available to stream. What a bonfire Eric Vilas-Boas' words made. You can watch all 5 episodes (and their cool, vintage, slightly too-long opening credits) on Paramount+.

It's been 45 years since television was revolutionized by this unique miniseries, and modern shows still follow this phenomenal standard.
