It has been said (https://www.reddit.com/r/talkshows/comments/j6nmnw/comment/g8c6du7/) that each host has who has been given the show (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Night_(franchise)), has a vastly different style (https://www.reddit.com/r/LiveFromNewYork/comments/1bon15j/comment/kwrsws5/) that they'll bring (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Series/LateNight). David Letterman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Night_with_David_Letterman) brought the eccentric and awkward, as well as celebrating if not intentionally seeking failure as one of his producers said. Conan O'Brien (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Night_with_Conan_O%27Brien) used a lot of scripted comedy bits and wacky characters, as well as remotes showing off his own comedic chops. Jimmy Fallon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Night_with_Jimmy_Fallon) did a lot of games, music, and audience participation. And Seth Meyers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Night_with_Seth_Meyers) has the political content and really letting writers take the stage as themselves.

The David Letterman era of NBC’s Late Night was the best & was the right lead out show to Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson before Carson retired in May 1992 when Jay Leno took over Tonight Show after Johnny Carson left.

I say David and Conan no question!! (But I prefer David)
This may come across as a bit of a hot take (https://www.reddit.com/r/unpopularopinion/comments/y2cw7s/seth_meyers_is_not_funny/), but does anybody else think that Seth Meyers (https://www.reddit.com/r/television/comments/5uyx4k/trevor_noah_should_host_late_night_and_seth/) really isn't that good (https://www.reddit.com/r/LiveFromNewYork/comments/154iopm/comment/jsr5txt/) of late night (https://www.reddit.com/r/LiveFromNewYork/comments/1z3kyh/can_we_talk_about_late_night_with_seth_meyers/) talk show host?

I liked Conan's version of the Late Night show. Staying up till 12:30 in the morning to watch it was like a dream come true.
David Letterman is the best by far. I was too young to watch him often in the 1980s because of school. I watched him on Fridays and in the summer. YouTube is a goldmine of videos and compilations.
I didn't watch Conan O'Brien very often when he was originally on the air, but I've watched quite a bit of his stuff on YouTube. He had some great remotes.
I've only seen a few videos here and there of Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers.
