I don't really know how Bernadette Peters got to be chosen as spokesman for Breyer's but her first commercial aired in 1992 and talked about how much Bernadette Peters LOVES Breyer's Ice Cream and she continued to be Breyer's spokesman until 1994. But her commercials debuted a new commercial catchphrase "Yes Yes Yes". But you gotta admit Bernadette Peters had a lot of fun doing these commercials.
