View Full Version : my dog's missing
Plata 09-23-2002, 10:01 AM On saturday my Dad went to work around 6 or 7am and decided to leave our dog in his yard because he thought since he had put wood around the whole fence and thought it was secure enough that the dog, Ralph, wouldn't be able to get out. He came home from work later around 7pm and didn't see Ralph when he came in. He wasn't worried right away because he usually left the garage door open for him in case it rains. Once my dad found out he wasn't there he spent time looking around the neighbourhood
and asked some people if they had seen Ralph. They had seen him two hours ago and my dad called the pound to see if he was picked up. He wasn't, but they are looking for him now, along with a bunch of people my dad works with. Last time Ralph was seen by people was on the outskirts of the city. It's probably unlikely we will see him again, but we're putting up some lost posters around the city.

Jimbo 09-23-2002, 07:57 PM I hope you find your dog. I know how it feels to lose a pet. Until recently, I had 3 cats (a mother, father, and son). Unfortunately, the father and son passed away less than a week apart back in March, so only the mother is left (she's sitting on my lap as I type this).
I'll pray for you and ask the Lord for the safe return of your dog. Please keep us posted.
Chocoholic 09-24-2002, 04:46 PM I hope your dog comes back safely soon. I'd hate it if my dog disappeared. She's my dear sweet baby.
Plata 09-24-2002, 06:23 PM Good news. My dad e-mailed me today and told me that Ralph was found. He was in the backlane next door. The neighbour across the street noticed the people in the crack house on the corner had him. Today, he noticed Ralph in his back lane and nabbed him and came over and told my dad about it. He'll need a
trip to the vet. He has a serious case of dandruff and diarrhea but otherwise he's in fine shape. Thanks everyone for your concerns and I hope all is well with your pets. :)
Janice 09-24-2002, 11:04 PM What wonderful news! You must be so relieved. I'll bet Ralph is so happy to be back with his family. :)
Congratulations Plata! And the same goes for Ralph. Who is Ralph named after? Ralph Cramden? Ralph Mouth in Hapy Days? Your Uncle Ralph? :)

I'm glad to hear that things turned out the way they did, and that Ralph is safe and sound. As I said in my earlier post, I've been praying for you. Take good care of that puppy!
(Never underestimate the power of prayer!)

He's named after the character Ralphie in The Magic School Bus. I really liked the show when I was like 9 or 10 years old, so I decided to name him after one of the characters and the name "Ralph" sounded a bit like a bark of a dog, so I thought it was a perfect name.:)

Thanks for your prayers. I'll definetely take good care of him now. When my dog was missing, it was the first time I actually understood the real meaning of "you don't know what you've got til it's gone". It was the first time I had ever lost a pet in my life and I really felt the absence of Ralph.
Plata 12-08-2002, 05:15 AM Something really awful happened this weekend. Ralph died. I found out on Friday he was sick when my dad called my mom and I. (They're sperated so they live in different ends of town.) When my dad got home from work on Friday evening Ralph had vomited and was in terrible shape. My dad took him to the vet who thought he might have had some kind of infection. Ralph was kept overnight, put on painkillers and hooked up to an IV. My dad found out the next day that he had died. my dad thinks he was poisoned and I think he was, too because my dad lives in the downtown area where lots of drug addicts are. It's going to be hard the next time I visit at my dads' place and won't see Ralph. He was the first pet of mine who has died. And, he wasn't that old, either. We first adopted him back in 1995 from a teacher my mom worked with a few years ago on the reserve. He was only 7 years old when he died. :(

Cactus Jack 12-08-2002, 10:42 AM Im also sorry ur dog died:(
Gosh Plata, that was a shock to read. Sorry.
You'll have to have a special wake-type ceremony in Ralph's honor. Something to help you share the memories of Ralph with your dad and others whos lives Ralph was a part of.
Kristina 12-08-2002, 12:03 PM aww I'm so sorry. :(
Montana Ponine 12-08-2002, 12:18 PM That's horrible, I'm so sorry about Ralph! :( Just remember that this way was probably better for him; he doesn't have to suffer anymore.

Wow, I almost choked up when I read this post. I am really really sorry that this happened. Did your dad decide to do an autopsy to see if he was poisoned for sure? You know, some dumb-you-know what probably thought it would be "funny" to see what an animal would do with drugs in it's system. This is one of the reasons I hate and I mean hate irrespopnsible, illegal drug use. It got me mad when I read about the possiblity of Ralph being poisoned from drugs.
On a lighter note, I decided to give you something. It is part of a transcript taken from a bible prophecy preacher. His name is Jack Van Impe. This is regarding pets being re-united with their masters in heaven.... enjoy!!!
I John 4:8
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
and heaven is a land filled with love.
Rexella (Jack's wife): He also created, Jack, in the beginning, animals for companionship. In fact, they were created actually before Eve was created to be companion to Adam. Now we have a little kitty cat. Her name is Fenica. She is 17 years old now. Tom Parasiliti and Lorna Parasiliti our director and assistant director have a dog, a beautiful dog. Will our animals be in heaven, Jack? Will Fenica be there?
Dr. Van Impe: Very definitely. During the Millennial reign, Isaiah 11:6-8
6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
that kingdom of God is just saturated with animal life of every type and description. But a man wrote to me about his pets and having his pets with him in heaven and what would happen to them at the rapture, and it was confidential so I’ll just say, "Dear Brother." It seemed like the Spirit of God just showed me this at the time, and here is what I said to him. "I believe that everything on earth is a picture or pattern of things in heaven. Thus, during the Millennial reign of Christ, the earth is filled with tame and beautiful animals of all descriptions, Isaiah 11:6. Furthermore, since earth is a pattern of heaven, then the third heaven of II Corinthians 12: 2-3
2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
must also be filled with these bundles of love. I don’t believe that the return of Christ on the white horse in Revelation 19:11 is merely rhetoric.
11 ¶ And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
He comes on this animal because there are beasts in heaven. The Bible does not specifically state anything concerning animals being taken at the rapture, however, since God promises that he will not withhold any good thing from those who love him, I believe that a simple request to the Saviour will make our desire for our pets occur instantaneously. He is God. He can do anything. For instance, there are those whose beloved pets went the way of all flesh and died. However, God is able to bring them back from dust and ashes as simply as he does the humans, when the dead in Christ rise at the rapture. To sum up everything I’ve said, I believe that we will have the animals we loved with us in heaven, not because of the rapture, but because our requests produce God’s recreation, reassembling of these little furry bundles of love."
AnaheimPMWitch 12-08-2002, 04:35 PM I'm sorry to hear that :( It really bugs me when people do that to ANIMALS I hope that the person that did that to your dog is PUNISHED
Stormtracker TF 12-08-2002, 04:37 PM I'm so sorry about that! Who ever did that to your dog is a sick person. I know how it feels..I've lost a pet in the past year. :(

I don't know whether my dad is going to get an autopsy or not. Ralph's body is still in the morgue at the vets' until he decides what to do with it. He was probably poisoned by drugs though because he got sick really suddenly and even if there was poisonous stuff in the garage Ralph could have gotten at, he would have been sick a long time ago if there had been anything in the garage. My dad has been feeling really bad about Ralph and he's feeling like a really crappy owner. He's told his sister and some friends already that Ralph died and everyone really misses him because he was just a really friendly dog and he had a great personality. I think I am going to miss him the most though because he was my first pet that died and although I'm upset at his dying, I'm more upset that his life was cut short and he didn't get to live a full 15 years as most dogs should get to live. :(

Your dad didn't know that Ralph would escape the yard. It was all coincidental. As for your dog having a wonderful personality, I know what you mean. I had a dog (1987-2001) that was very friendly and she lived 12 years only. About a year later, we decided to get a new dog (we wanted to have a reasonable amount of time before we got another dog) and she is wonderful. We got her as a puppy. She is a baby Cocker Spaniel. She will be a year old in January. As for Ralph, at least you will have memories of him and he will stay alive in your heart. Also, pictures and home movies are a good medicine in dealing with such a tragedy. When my last Grandma died (and i was close to her), I whipped out the old photo album and went through it. It helped me a lot. I got through this, and you will too. By the way, what kind of dog was Ralph?
Chocoholic 12-09-2002, 12:49 PM I'm sorry to hear about your dog, Plata. I'm sure he's up in Doggie Heaven playing with my Pepsi though.
It makes me sick when someone thinks it's funny to harm someone else's pet. There was this sick f**k in a nearby town a couple of years ago who gave poisoned meat to about a dozen dogs. Most of them died. They never caught the @$$hole. I can accept the fact that some people just don't like dogs, but there's no need to go abusing or killing them.

Those people should have been forced to eat that meat themselves. See how funny it is when it happens to them and the pain and suffering that they would go through.
Who shouldn't love dogs. I always loved dogs and will always love dogs. Dogs are generally more loyal than cats, give or take a few.
There was a study done that I heard about and it included these situations. One woman died in her house and she owned a cat. In order to survive, the cat ate at least half of the corpse to live. One time an old man died in his house, and when people found the body, it was all there. The dog was starving because of it's loyalty to his master and was laying next to him. The dog was then fed and nursed back to health.
That goes to show you some of the evil people can be.
"DOGS 4-EVER!!"
Jack1000 12-09-2002, 11:19 PM Anyone who would be a sick enough bastard to harm or kill a dog deserves the same fate themselves! That makes me sick!
I cried hard when I read your post! We have a wonderful, beautiful lovable dog ourselves who is the love of our lives!
I am very pained and saddened by what happend to Ralph. Please keep us posted on the events of this. We all feel your grief and offer our deepest sympathies to you and your family
