hey if you guys like this just tell me and i'll start writting more.


It was 7:30 and Nate had just come into work (a little late). Jinny looked up from her paper work, "Hey your just a little late." Nate gave her a look, "yeah i noticed that when i looked at the clock." "Hey o.k... jeeze someone is in a mood today!" jinny said to yourself as she turned back to her desk and to her paperwork.
Raina walked in from the captian's office, "you guys do not want to go in there, while captian is on vaction this replacement is horrible!" Jinny looked up from her work once again "He can't be worse then captian." she tought about what she said, she gave a small chuckle, Jinny was in a unsually good mood this morning considering that her father was in the hositpal. Nate looked around the division, then he relazied what was bothering him " where's mag?" he asked, right after he though of the answer "Is she with Ben?" jin looked at him and said "No, she went to the strip joint down the street for kicks, where else would she be?"

It was lunch time and the Captains door open and a man in his mid 60s a little heavy set came out, This was the frist time that nate or jinny had seen their replacement captian. The man looked around "Basso, Exstead?" Nate and Jinny looked up from the work that was on there desks, "yeah" they both said.

They both look up at the over weight balding man, "I want you two to work on this case, since both of your partners are gone." he said as he handed Jinny the folder. He then turned and went back into the office. Nate walked over to jinny's desk to look over the folder with her. Raina looked over at the two who had just gotten their assignment and wonder why she didn't get one. As the two read the paper they both got a look of confustion on there faces. nate looked at Jinny " I don't believe it!" Jinny looked up at the man hovered over her shoulders "believe it, it's happened before they even made a lifetime movie out of it.... Not that i watch lifetime it's just ya know Mag had it on." she looks back at the folder Nate just snickers "yeah I'm sure thats what happened." The door to the captians ffice opens once more, Rainas head pops up from some paper work she was doing,
"are you really an exstead?"the man says in Jinny direction
Jinny looks up "thats what the name plate says."
"Are you related to john?"
"he's my dad"
"oh so your the little girl he was always bragging about. the names frank, frank cornwallis"
"hi" jinny says not caring in the slighest.
"well get back to work."
he heads back into the office Nate looks down at Jinny
"you think we should go talk to this guy?"
"sure I'm driving though."
Nate nods fine with me.

Nate shut the door to the car, and buckles the seat belt as jinny starts to back out of the parking space. Jinny looks over at Nate
"So.... Whats new with you?"
Nate looks over at her "hmm, got drunk out of my mind last night thats why was late this morning."
"oh" she stops at the red light.
Nate realizes that she is uncomfortable and tries to think of somthing to say "So hows your dad?"
"hes pretty good really mad that they're keeping him in the hositpal this long though."
"oh, hey the street is coming up here on the right."
Jinny looks over and turns on her blinker, she makes the turn and goes up to a one story light blue house.

Sitting in her living room Kate looks at her sister, "I mean he basically said you might as well retire!"
Pam sat there thinking " I think you should"
"what, pam my job is my life i can't just give up!"
" Katie, thats why you should retire it is your life, you have a wond... well a gre... well you have amanda, and Ross, in ENGLAND no less, come on kate what more could you want?"
"Well... i don't know"


Magda opened the heavy door to her sons room, she saw Gabe still there tring to get ben to eat the hositpal food.
"No dad it's gross!"
"come on son, it's good for you though."
just then ben looks up and sees hes mommy
"mom did you bring me something good to eat?"
"no but it's good to see you to. How you holding up papi?"
"I 'm fine expect the food here sucks!"
magda let out a sigh "Ben don't say sucks, ok it's not nice."
"well it does mom here smell it..... see it doesn't even smell!"

Gotta agree with you! lol I used to play clarinet, but band in high school is boring.

Nope!!! You don't play clarinet here...omg they can't march much less play...we do have a couple of good ones but only a couple...:happyface I agree with flutes all the way!!! hahaha...anyways keep posting...

C.D. Opened the door to her hotel room, looking around she found brian sitting on the bed talking on the phone. She was in her bathing suit from going for a little swim and sitting by the pool. She walked over to her suit case and pulled out some casual clothes.
" Thanks yeah thats right, ok thank you, good bye."
brain hung up the phone and smile at C.D.
"What"
she said with a smile
"nothing"
he answered with a sly smile.
"O.k. I'm going to go take a shower then."

Nate closed the door to the car and waited for Jinny on the sidewalk. When Jinny got to the sidewalk they both walked up the pathway to the house then nate knocked on the door.

Not here man...we have sooooo many extracurriculars here its funny...I just happen to be in band...I dunno...Anyways, KEEP GOING!!!

Nate knocked again and waited, being her normal self jinny rang the doorbell three times in a row.
"I guess no one is home"
Nate points out ashe shurggs and turns around torward the car.
"So you wanna....."
he turns back around and notices jinny is still on the porch by the door.
"Hey, come onn no one is home."
Jinny turns back around and looks him in the face
"I heard someone in there, didn't you hear it?"
"no thats why i want to leave. Come jinny we can go get something to eat before we go back to the division to tell old buddy Frank what happened."
"Fine but if we come back and someone abandoned the house I'm blaming this on you."
as they head back to the car Jinny gives one more look back at the house and in the window, she saw the window curtian move but since the window was open she figured that it was jusst the wind. she got in and started the car.

Kate watched as her sister drove down the driveway, she couldn't believe at what she just heard, Pam wanting her to quit her job! yes it did take up a lot of her time but she loves her job.... most of the time and she worked really hard for it, she just give up, could she? she needed more help from someone you wasn't quite so bias. she picked up the phone and dailed a number very fast.
"hello"
a woman said from the other side of the line
"hi, Jill it's kate..."
"oh hold on I'll get amanda."
"No, no, actually i wanted to talk to you about something."

Yeah we're like a family...one of our freshman got hurt the other day and usually we pick on our freshman but when it is something serious, we take care of them...I told someone that we may pick on our fishies but we still love them...;) ...Anyways, I think I have a good idea... :idea:...POST MORE!!!

oh i know we're the same way it was raining at practice last night and fresh was so wet, i gave her my band sweater from last year and i got a big aaawww from my section it's was great

anywho here is some more... quick note i'm following the last season here but one minor change teddy and jinny never got back together. (don't take that wrong i love teddy and jinny together)


Nate and Jinny walk into the division from lunch and head to there seperate desks, jinny walks two steps and looks down at her partner
"What are you doing here!"
"I couldn't stay at the hosiptal anymore, and don't yell at me, you should go see your dad!"
mag answered defencely.
"Mag if you've forgotten the whole being broke doesn't allow time for me to take time off."
"right, well just go sit down, I'm fine work on that case of yours."
"Yes captian"
with that jinny goes and sits at her desk, looks at nate
"so when are we going back to the house?"
"how about in an hour or so."
nate says, not really wanting to go.
everyone gets back to the work thats okn their desks when the division doors open and in walks teddy. he looks around the room and sees you all is in the room. magda turns around to see who just walked in.
"Hey Teddy, what are you doing here?"
"working on a case and seeing how you'r doing. How are you doing?"
"I'm fine Teddy, how about you?
"ok i guess, but i think i should go see this new captain of yours."
he walks past magdas desk and turns down the path to the captains door, as he passes jinnys desk he slows down hopping for her to say something, when she doesn't he thinks it's just because she dosen't know she there, at least he hopes thats what it is. Mag notices this and gives a little smirk.


"So A.D.A. I need you to help out a couple of my inspectors once they get things together, heres the case."
Frank says as he hands Teddy the folder, Teddy opens it and scans though before leaving, when something pops out at him Jinny was working the case. Frank looks up at Teddy,
" You can leave now A.D.A."
" right sorry, good bye."
he leaves the office and starts heading right for jinny when he hears nate
"hey Jin you think we should go get this over with."
"yeah lets go try again. See you in a little Mag."
they leave the division with teddy just standing near Jinnys deskMag looks up again and sees this
"so teddy, whats wrong?"
"nothing, i just wanted to talk jinny thats all"
" do i since a little hope for you two?"
" i sure hope so, i just don't know if she feels the same way anymore."
"give it a try teddy you never know."

We only get band shirts and then at the last home game of our senior year, they present letterman jackets during halftime but oh well are you section leader or something? I am and I can't stand my section...There are like 5 freshman marchers and they think they know everything...Anyways POST MORE

Frank comes out of his office
"Washington?"
Raina pops her head up very fast and stands up her frist real assignment
"yes, sir?"
"could you go copy some of these papers for me? Then come back to my office."
"sure why not."
she says with a fake smile. as she leaves she passes magda and Teddy still talking.
"you know what we should do, we should go have lunch with them, oh what is that look for, come on teddy, I'll protect you."
"Thanks Mag that was a lot of help."

At the anchor side nate and Jinny sat at a table, Nate had a sandwich and Jinny had a salad, when Magda and Teddy walked in. when jinny sees them she waves so they know were she and nate are sitting, the two walk over to the table and sit down the two guys on one side and the girls on the other.
"So what is your guys case?"
Magda asks wanting to get the conersation started
"It's this guy and he claims... well i think that he is lying"
nate replies still chewing his food.
"oh hey teddy aren't you going to work that case?"
she questioned teddy gave her a look,
"uh yeah, yeah i am once you guys get somthing."
"well we'll get something right after lunch."
jinny answer after taking a drink of water. she looks at nate waiting for him to finish.
"so mag how is ben doing?"
Teddy asked wanting to change the subject
"Fine, well as well as can be expected just this mornin...."
she got cut off from the sound of Jinnys cell ringing.
"sorry, keep going, hello"
"It's ok Jin, but just this morning he was complaining about the foo...."
"Casey wait what happened, he what?.......omg i can't believe this ok settle i'll be there in no time.' Jinny hangs up her cel phone "anyone want to give me a ride to the hositpal?"
"My cars right out there."
teddy answered
"ok lets go!"
they get up and leave.

Oh i'm section leader and its not all that great...but you did keep us hangin again so post more!

The two get in to Teddys car as he starts down the street to the hostipal Jinny kept her eyes on the road and on Teddys speedomiter.
"You can speed you know, Fact i'm telling you to speed, go as fast as you can."
"I can only go as fast as the car in front of me Jin."
"well honk at them then."
honked at the car in frist of them, unfortunly the guy gave them a rude gesture, after Jinny a few chioce words at him through the window, he let them pass, Teddy looked over at Jinny and chuckled softly, this is what he loved about her, is so head stronge and not afraid of much, if anything that he knew of. he parked in the frist stop he found in the parking lot. Even before he had the car in park Jinny had jumped out of the car and headed to the door already. he got out of the car to catch up but she had already gone inside. Teddy stop at the nurses desk,
"Hi can you tell me where John Estead is?"
"yes, third floor just follow all the yelling to room 312"
"hmmm.. thanks."
Teddy headed to the elevator and pressed the up button. Soon a red headish bruntte came up next to him and pushed the button too. soon the elevator came and opened up, they both went in
"floor?"
teddy asked.
"third please"
she responded in a tone that teddy didn't like, he pressed the button and took a step bak

she says as she leaves the office nate is sitting at hes desk and decides to go to there victims house without jinny he just really wanted to get it out of the way,plus the fact that he just wanted to get home and find his vodka bottle if he had any left that is. how could C.D just gone on vaction with brian, right when nate finally know that he loved her. God he hated her for leaving right when she did. he decided to just drive past Mr.Adams house and if it looked like he wasn't home he would just keep on driving.

Kate felt a little better after talking to jill, but she still wasn't sure, maybe if she called raina, just to see how the "new" captian was doing,
"no kate this is your vaction, and how are you spending it thinking about work! and talking to yourself."
she walked over to the phone and looked at the list of phone numbers on the cabient, she never liked them there, when she found the number she was looking for she began to dial, the phone on the other line began to ring
"Hello?"
a familer voice said.
"Hi, Ross, I was just wondering if you would love it if I showed up on the next plane to England?"


Jinny had been at the hospital for two hours now, she stared at her now calm father she knew he hated it here, she had when she had been have about a year ago, she sat in her chair silently. the chair a little ways away from her held her newly found half sister, whom wouldn't let teddy in to try and help get John back in bed, she couldn't stand it in there right now, she loved her father but right she didn't like looking at, she kept trying to concinve herself that it was all the medication. she stood up and began to leave. no one tried to stop her.

She reached the door to her semi-new apartment put the lock in the door and walked in, she looked around it was still bare, a bed and some toiletries just so she could get ready ine the morning, she hated her apartment, there was nothing in there that made her feel like she was home.

nate was walking down the street he was going to a bar and decided against it he was drinking for all the wrong reasons and he had heard what that could do to people. he looked up at the buliding that he had walked to he didn't know why he had gone there, he never reallly had talked to this person lost in his own thought he hadn't noticed that he had reached the door he knocked and wondered if he still had time to leave before they answered the door, he waited a little while and began to turn when the door opened.

he walks in and sees how empty the apartment is and how horrible it most be to come home to nothing after the job they do everyday he turned around to say something when the phone began to ring.

jinny answered into the cordless that sat next to the local phone book that was open to restuarnts that delivered.
"so Jinny how come you weren't at the meetings all week?'
dustys voice came over the line with some anger and worry behind, he hated to ampett it but he like being Jinnys sponser it had been a long time since he had meet someone with that much fire and sprited
"i had family problems, and i was busy with my life and well i kinda forgot, plus dusty you can't worry about me anymore remeber? Now i have to go i have someone here right now"
she hung up the phone before he could say anymore, she didn't need to hear from him right now even though it still felt good that he cared. she turned back at nate, and relized that he had heard the conversation she had with dusty

nate looked at her like i'm not going to buy that. she was trying to get off the subject so she just put him in the spotlight
"so hmm... why are you here again?"
she asked with her head in her fridge trying to find something that looked like it wasn't left over from a week ago and wasn't water.
"I told you that i just kinda wond up here"
she sighed because she had failed at finding anything but some left over tacos from god knows when, which had some white stuff on them that she was sure wan't sour cream. and of corse the ever present water.
"oh well so you decided hey why don't i knock on jinny's door and stand in her apartment?
nat looked at her, he know she could be mean but he didn't think she could be cruel enough not to even let him in, just to be there if anything else.
" well Jinny I did plan on sitting around doing nothing but....."
he does a little spin around the furnitureless apartment and looks back up at her
"It lookes like you foiled my plans again."
nate thought to himself about what he had just said and it didn't come out right in fact it sounded down right mean. He looked up at Jinny's face and saw the hurt look in her eyes that he know she was trying to hide, he know he shouldn''t have said it but it had just came out. Jinny turned around torwards the fridge again opened it up and took out the moldy tacos and throw them into the waste basket under her sink then headed back to the open refridgerator and took out a bottle of water all the while she did this she was thinking about what nate had said to her and the more she thought about it the more she resented it.
"so you can't sit so why don't you just leave?"
she asked one eyebrow up as if telling what he should have done by now.
"I'm sorry jinny it's.... I ......see I well i need someone to talk to and i wasn't thinking of anyone and i came her and it just seemed like you didn't want me here so i just well that came out all wrong."
Jinny just stared at him like she could see through him, nate hated that stare it was the stare that she gave raina when that old man comitted to killing hes grandson and raina just let him get away...well almost get away. the stare sent a shiver down hes spine.
"well what did you want to talk about?"
nate stared at her balnkly we're they really going to talk about his problems, even after what he had said to her, he know now that the more he was around Jinny the more he found out that seh wasn't that bad of a person after all.

Well, it may be a while before I can do anything, I sprained my wrist and it reallllllllllyyyy hurts and we have marching contest Saturday not to mention a game tomorrow nite...and I agree marching band is stupid....POST MORE!!!!!!!!!!!

Magda walked out of the elevator doors and turn down a hall in the hospital to see all her friends from the department still in line to test for Ben she thanked them as she walked by on her way to get to Bens room, she opened the door to her sleepign son. as the door opened the light came through and on to his face, she walked up to the chair next to the bed but found Gab already in it and asleep. she kissed ben on the head and put a picture of the three of them on the table next to his bed, she then turned to Gabe kissed him on the forehead and shook him slightly just enough to wake him up. he looked up and rubbed his eyes and said:
"time to go already?"
Mag nodded her head she really didn't want to leave her son and only child one more night in this stuffy place, but she knew that they to get home and try to sleep.

Nate looked down at Jinny who had apparntly fallen asleep on his shoulder. He gave a little chuckle he known that she had, had a rough day today so he thought that he would let it slide. They were sitting on the floor leaning on the wall. He looked at his watched, it was past one o'clock. he attempted to wake Jinny up by shaking her slightly.
"Jinny.....Jinny......Hmmm, Jin...... O.K. fine then.... well what do I do now?"
Jinny moved a tniy bit and made a small groaning noise.

Nate decied to try and move her some more, but there was no use she wasn't waking up. Nate put hes arms under her and with a little struggle he picked her up, this let him know he had to work out some more. he carried her into the bedroom he looked around quick it was a bed with a bunch of boxes and clothes spilled all over the room, it was really messy but he didn't really expect otherwise, it was Jinny after all. it was then that he relaized that she was getting heavy. he walked the short distance to the bed he set her down, she made a little ball and snuggled up to the pillow.
"Night"
nate smile because she looked so innocsent, he laughed slightly he had to laugh at that thought. he found his way around the boxes in the dark and locked the small lock on the door and headed for his house.

The next morning.
Jinny woke up and was trying to figrure out how she got into bed last night she had her breakfeastand taken her shower now brushing her teeth she was trying to remember how she got in bed.
"lets see Nate came over....OH GOD NO!!!! I Didn't......damnit."
she finished getting ready for for her ride to the station. Hoping maybe nate called in sick.

Jinny got on to the elevator to the divisionthe doors began to close when she heard someone yelling to hold the doors, Jinny slowly held the doors open to a farntic woman. The woman looked at jinny
"Do you work here?"
the woman looked hopeflu maybe she had fially found someone to help her.
"Yes"
Jinny replied, she know she should have asked what was wrong but she also knoew if she didn't the woman would have told her anyways, what was the use of wasting her breathe on it.
"My son...my son.. Hes gone hes been gone for three days or so... you see he was suppose to be at a friends house but..but i don't know he never came home."
Jinny was puzzled by the promblem, how cold the woman not know where her son had gone, then again her dad never knew where Jinny was as a child. But if this kid was with his friends they had to have seen somthing.
Jinny and Raina talked briefly about the womans case before jinny had even reached the door. She decided that she would let Raina do a little, the history, on the case and then take over a little later. She other cases. Jinny pushed at the solid wood door and walked in she looked around no sign of Nate, maybe her prayers had been anwsered Nate walked up from the fax machine at Raina's desk behind Jinnyhe tapped her on the shoulder and semi-whispered
"So how did you sleep?"
Jinny dropped her jaw there was no doubt in her mind at what she had done the night before, but for him to bring it up at work in front of so many people.
"And what the hell is that suppose to mean?"

Nate looked at jinny, he was surpised at how she had taken the comment he had made, while they talked and figured everything out teddy walk in and saw Magda
"Hey!"
magda said with she beautiful smile.

the small talk went on for a long time, when the noise of nate and jinny finally toned down mag looked at teddy
"so....did you tell her about you know?"
tedy looked at the floor avoiding her glare.
"Teddy!, i can't believe you, go talk to her right now!"
teddy just looked at magda and thought why the hell not just as he was getting ready to go over to Jinny a man walked into the division and headed striaght for jinny, he turned her chair around
"Oh my god Jin it really is you you know that every time i see you, you get more beautiful!"
jinny just looked the man in the face with shock and confusion
"What the hell are you doing here?!?!?!

jinny looked up at the man that had just strolled into the division, she couldn't believe that he was actually standing right in front of her. He looked at her with smiling eyes that sparkled from the sun coming in through the window and it made the beautiful blue intesity pop out of them. He soon got a big smile on his face and he's white perfect teeth showed forming slight but not very noticable dimples. he ran hes hand through his not to long but not short hair, it was the perfect length, the brown locks of it went right back into place as his hand had abandoned them.
"hmmm i came to see you."
he answer with a soft sweet voice.
Jinny was caught speechless between the fact that he was actually there and the fact that he actually had the balls to show hes face anywhere near her again. she kept think about how she had actually beg him to stay at one time but that feeling was long gone now now all she wanted was for him to go away and not come back yet at ther sa
me time she just wanted to jump out of her chair and just be held in his arms just one more time.
noticing the silence he decided to just start talking even though everyone was staring at the two of them.
"so inspector huh?"
"yep, what about you?"
" pretty good the business is doing good you know people love to sight see."
"yeah i guess they do, and your here why again?"
" two reasons i wanted to see you again...."
Jinny scoffed at this remark and rolled her eyes thinking what broght him to say that.
"and high school reuion is this month and i was seeing if you were going."

she said as she picked up her coat to leave the division and go outside so that she could yell at him in peace. he followed like a little puppy but then again most men do around jinny. they reached the eleavtors and dusty was inside he looked and jinny but she never looked back she still couldn't look him in they eyes not yet anyway. she hit the frist floor button and notice that dusty was going to the second that was where the aa meeting was that day. she scoffed at the fact that he was even going.
"look Jin i knew why you wanted to get out of there and i know i desevre what is coming to me and yes i was wrong i realized that a long time ago but there was nothing i could do i messed up i know i did but the thing is... i haven't stopped thnking about you since then. evgerytime i went out with anotherwoman all i could think about was you with another man and just hated thinking of that."
Jinny was amazed of what he had just said he had never really been a man of many words (jinnys kind of guy).
"listen, matt you can't believe how horrible i felt that day."
Matt was about to say something but she put up her hand because she knew what it was
"and i know i could have gone with you. but boston i wouldn't make to small of a town, and my family is here......"

jinny asked knowing the reason he noticed and just wanted to see what he would say. she looked at him as he uncomfortable shifted his weight from one foot to the other. Silence came over the elevator and Matt leaned over close enough so dusty couldn't hear what he was saying to Jinny.

Jin looked at dusty who gave a half smile and a small wave this was the last straw for Jinny

she yell after dusty. the elevator closed it's doors after two more people had gotten in one of them D.C. haysbert he gave her a look. By this time she was so sick of him she didn't care, she just gave one back. At this he was about to say something to but the doors opened and the bell dinged. Jinny quickly left the elevator and went to the coffee and looked over all the different types. When the next elevator doors dinged and opened Teddy walked out and went over to the coffee stand also not noticing Jinny and her friend. Jinny not paying attention to what Matt was saying continued to read all the labels, when her cell rang.

Sorry I haven't posted here lately, my g-ma has been in the hospital with pnuemonia and cancer and I just found out my BEST friend is moving and as you can tell my life hasn't been exactly perfect actually no where near but anyways post more pleeeeaaaaaseeeee!!!!!!

i had this whole long reply to #1fan's thingy but it all went away tear. anyway here is some more.

Jinny looked at the phone number and saw that it was nate. When the phone rang Teddy's frist reaction was to check he's cell but realized that it wasn't his ring. then he looked and saw Jinny looking at her phone, at this point he was wondering of she could possibly afford a phone but decided not to question it. Jinny raised the phone to her ear.
"Exstead........Ok.....yepp .......ok yeah i'm down by the coffee machine......another one......nate it could so happen...... we should go see the frist guy though right then the next one...........nate we're not even sure if it's the same person or even a woman for that fact........yes nate i'm saying that a man might have done this, hey they have in the past........alright so see you when you get down here alright buh bye."
Jinny pushed the end button on the phone and it made a beeping noise, this caught teddy's attention again. Jinny turned to matt and explain to him that she would talk to me later and to meet her across the street and noon tomorrow. Teddy was eavesdropping and couldn't help but wonder what was going or had gone on between her and this man. The ding to the elevators sounded that it was about to open, nate walked out and spotted Jin and walk towards her.
"you ready?"
"yeah"
Jinny replied and turned and walked with nate out the door.

Cd was flipping through the channels waiting for brian to get out of the shower she jsut kept remembering the amazing she and brian had had the night before. he had treated her to a wonderful dinner, and well the rest of the night was very tiring. she wasn't even paying attention to what was going on with the tv or the rest of the room.

Raina had jsut finished questioning the women who would soon be her frist case she really did hope that this would turn out to be a good case. as she walked to her desk after showing the woman out of the division she noticed that mag was just sitting at her desk.
"Magda you know you don't have to be here. we can handle i mean you saw i, it is so slow in here today, go home and do something that will make you happy. go see ben and read to him or something.
" i would but i can't be in the hospital anymore i mean i love ben and all but it just is so draining to watch him get sicker and sicker and i feel so helpless."
Raina didn't know exactly what she meant but she knew that it couldn't be very easy for her so she gave mag a great big hug.

Jinny went the fimillar way to the little blue house and decided to talk to nate.
" so you like C.D. huh?"

"i pick up on things in my sleep. it's werid. For all it's worth you two would be great together."

the car fell silent, Jinny wasn't use to this usually Mag kept jabbering away. the silence was broken by the loud ringing of jinny's phone. she took her eyes off the road to look at it in her pocket reached for it and then handed it to Nate. it continued to ring and he looked at it dumbstruck.
"You press the little button in the middle and magically people's vicoes appear out of no where."
Jinny stated getting annonied by the ringing.
"don't you want to anwer it?"
"not while i'm driving."
Jinny firmly stated waving her hand a little so that he would take the phone. Nate push the little button in the middle,
"Basso, on Exsteads phone."
Jinny looked over unamused.
"yeah i'll tell her yeah....hey i can put you on speaker......ok hold on."
Nate set the phone to speaker.
"Hey jin, it's Casey, just thought you would like to know that they are releasing dad today."
"Oh ok, listen i'm on my way somewhere so i'll call you when i'm done ok?"
"Yeah Jin, thats fine just so you know, hmmmmm ronnie..... made a schedle for us to follow to vist dad and make sure that he is ok."
"what!!!!! So she shows up out of no where and jsut says that know i have to have a time slot to see my own father! I think not! where was she the frist heartattck? and Why didn't she come over and vist when i was living there. Screw her, I'm go see my dad whenever I damn well please. Listen Casey we're at the house so I'll call you back."
"Alright jin, hey and take it easy."
the dail tone came from the small phone. Nate looked at Jinny.

Nate looked at Jinny after this and remark and decide never to talk again, or at least for a little while, for she was giving him the look. He opened the car door and let Jinny catch up to him and they headed to the front door. Jinny knocked twice and they waited for a couple minutes untill they heard someone behind the door.
"who is there?"
a meak voice said with a little bit of a raspy tone.
"I'm insecptor Exstead and this is inspector Basso."
They heard the lock to the door come undone and it opened as much as the chain that was still locked would allow.
"may i see some i.d please?"
from this all they could see was a sickly scared man.

Jinny pulled out her badge and showed it to the scared and sickly man. he closed the door and unlocked the chain and opened the door just wide enough to let them both in and shut it quickly and shortly after. they folowed him into the kitchen where there were pizza and take out boxes all over. Jinny let all of it sink in so that she would memorize it all, then she looked at the man he was thin and pale with a slight beard, he looked messy and greasy but the way he walked and talked gave her the impression that he hadn't always been like this. Then she finished your glance of the house and all that was in it she was a breif case and a long tan coat, on the table he had spread out legal papers and a laptop. She never really got a look at the folder but by all this it was logical to think lawyer.
"I'm sorry about the mess and please have a sit."
Jinny and nate both pulled out the light maple chairs that matched the rest of the kitchen. then the man pulled out a few pieces of legal paper and handed them to nate. It was just then that Jinny realized that he continuesly avoided eye connect with her and directed things to just nate.
"That is the best despirtion that i could give from what i saw, i know it's not much, but it is all that i saw. I think that a strech artist may still be able to make something out of it."
"O.K. can you run us through what happened two nights ago Mr. Adams?"
Jinny asked while looking over Nate's shoulder and the pieces of paper there were six pieces and each one had girl no.1 and no.2 ect. all in perfect format.
"I was walking home after a breif meeting with a new client who was being arrseted for grand theft auto, hopeless case really everything was against him, the meeting was to tell him that it wasn't a great chance that we would win and that we should jsut try for the reduced sentence, he agreed and i went hime.
I go home the same way everyday, i have been for ten years, I always pass alleys and dark bulidings, i know i shouldn't go through that part of town but.....It's just easier that way. I know all the people and things by heart there now, i've even defined some of them. I was going home and........"

Nate asked, jinny watched the man carefully, she didn't competely understand but the man looked really hurt.

Jinny's pager beeped, it was frank, she knew that it was time to go anyways nate looked a little mad from the man's last remark.

Jinny began walkin torwards the door after they told the man that they would be back the next day. After they left the house they noted how quickly he locked all the locks. Once they got in the car they made a little small talk, nothing of any importance. They arrived at the station and rode the elevator to the sixth floor they pushed open the division doors and turned between desks to the captian's door, Nate knocked on the door. They heard a low grunt and knew that was their que to come in the small office. Nate walked in and sat in a chair, Jinny closed the door behind her and stood in front of it, the old fat man was finishing reading up on an old report. He looked up at the two inspectors.
"Did i give you enough time with the rape victim?"
"Yeah, you were cutting it close though."
Nate responded.
"Ok this is what i need, tonight, at eight in an old house downtown there is a man, wh was kidnapped two weeks ago, Well our inside scope is saying that the men that are holding him want to stupidly go to a bar tonight and no one will be watching him, appearently They have left them alone before. What i want you two to do is go get this guy and bring him back. this is the address."
Nate and Jinny walked out of the office Jinny closed the door behind her and looked at the address, she knew exactly were to go. She saw nate check his gun before they left. they got in to the elevator.
"He made it sound like we were double agents, only i was bond and you were the girl who got all teh real action, hey that sounds a lot like your real life!"
Jinny just gave him a look.

They went down the long street in the bad part of town untill they found a run down two story. All the windows had been boarded up and the siding was coming off, there was a huge hole in the roof and the old white paint was chipping off so you could make out that the house use to be a pale yellow. Jinny looked out the window at the door and saw the bumber of the kidnappers car was still behind the house, soon it was dark and all that could be seen from inside the house was a crack of light coming from in between some boards. Soon two man walked across the light and torwards the back of the house. The two inspectors heard the car turn on and roll down the driveway and down the street torwards a bar not too far away.
Nate got out of the car carefully closing the door. Jinny was out and with weapon in hand, they made there way across the street and nate opened the door slightly, just enough to look in then he went inside slowly with weapon drawn, once he got in safely Jinny followed nate headed to the room just in front of him while Jinny went to the room to the right. She found nothing and continued to the kitchen that gave her nothing either, she turned left and found nate had just come out of a room, he had found nothing either. They headed towards the door which was by the stairs they headed up.

The pair went up the stair making sure not to make too much noise. The stair led to a hallway the went to the right, and one door to the left. Nate carefully opened the door, it was a bedroom, the house had clearly not been lived in since the fifties, Jinny checked the walk in closet while nate checked the rest of the room. The exited the room and went down the hall past the stairs, to their left there was another door. Jinny opened it and went into a small sewing room that was material and dust, nothing that she cared about. Across the hall yet another door, Nate had checked it while Jinny checked the sewing room.
"Just the Bathroom. Shower has been used resently though. Sign that there were actually people here in the last twenty years."
The last door was at the end of the hall, Jinny opened the door slowly. to present a small girl's room, it had two white iron twin beds. the wall paper was lalics and there was a small table holding a tea set on it. to the right and next to the beds there was a door, Nate looked in and found it was another walk in closet, In it there was nothing but little dresses and shoes. Jinny walked to the other side of the room and in to another door that branched off, in side she found a man tied to a chair gaged and blindfolded.
"nate....Nate, I found him."
She walked in a looked around a little first, she then took the blindfold off of the man and then the sock that was in his mouth.
He looked up at her.
"Thank the lord, for he has brought me an angel."
nate was now in the room.
"by that statement i'd say he is suffering from somthing."
Jinny gave him a look and then untied the man, the two attempted to walk him out of the room. But the weak man couldn't even stand. Nate picked him up and carried him out, they past the room filled hallway and slowly down the stairs. Jinny opened the door for nate and let him get through first

Nate got out the down and on to the porch when he heard something behind him. he turned around fast and almost lost his balance. He looked in the door way that was now light up and he was Jinny picking herself up from the floor and a man standing in front of her. not just any man but a huge man. Getting ready to hit her again, Nate set the man down that he had been holding and jumped over jinny, who's nose was now bleeding and hit the man very hard. the man went back a little, the sound of a door opening form the back of the house startled Nate he turned around and saw jinny standing with her gun raised towards the sound of the door. Three more men plus the guy from early came from out of the shadows, all about the same size. The men came towards them, NAte heard Jinny's gun go off and hit the mn closes to her.

The huge man fell, Jinny turned slightly to shoot at another when the man the she thought was down stood up and hit her in the stomach, she bent over form the pain, the man took her gun and throw it out of the house.
"We don't play with weapons."
the man said in a booming voice.

The man that threw Jinny's gun out moved towards nate, who at the time had his gun out now and was at a stand still with the two men that hadn't moved. Thinking Jinny could handle the one guy he paid no attention to what was going on behind him. The big man was now behind him and had a piece of wood from a broken chair in his hand, Nate felt a hit to the back of his head, the ground seemed to be getting cloeser to him untill he hit it. He heard a little before it all went balck
"I thought you said no weapons?"
was one last thing he heard, that had come out of Jinny's mouth.

Nate started to come back from the blackness, he opened his eyes and saw an ugly big man laying on the floor next to him, bleeding, he could hear the sound of movement, when he heard a bang and then a scream. he tried to stand up and see what had happened. no doubt Jinny had been hurt, He heard another big bang and something cold go into his chest. The pain was horrible, he couldn't stand up any more, he fell not far from where he had been laying before.

The sound of a beep woke nate up from what seemed to be a nice sleep, soon all the pain rushed back to him, he opened his eyes and saw C.D. standing before him.

(NOTE: READ THIS!!!!! this is going to go to the night before only from Jinny's point of view, during the fight. It starts a little before go down the first time.)

Jinny was down on her knees attemping to catch her breathe after that punch. She heard somthing breaking and she looked up seeing that the man that had punched her was now holding a piece of chair and going torwards Nate. She leaped to her feet and tried to get to the man but it was too late. The wack could be heard from where she stood and Nates body soon hit the ground. She jumped on the men that had just dropped the piece of wood. Catching him by surpise, she let all her baody weight hang form his neck in hopes of slight suffocation. but he back her up against a wall. This caused her to release her grip on him and fall to the floor. The man stood above her and laughed, she looked up at him dicrited her foot right into his crouch. he fell to the ground moaning and red faced.

Jinny headed over to the two men that were both kicking Nate. she tapped one on the shoulder.
"Hold on Lance you'll have your chance, I mean you got the chick to yourself."
Jinny just tapped him again this time he turned around, there was a bit of shock in his face, she gave him one of her best punches. He fell back some but it didn't seem to affect him that bad, he was a little bigger then Lance. He came back with a punch equally or harder then the one she gaves. She fell back a lot more then he did. the two men circled her and the third was getting off the ground, and he was pissed. Jinny went into panic, her heart was racing and it was getting harder and harded to think stiraght. Looking down on the ground behind her see could see Nates gun on the ground, she got to it as fast as she could, and fired it at one of the shadows coming closer to her,the one man hit the ground with a boom. She had shot him in the heart, insant death. Before she knew it Lance was on top of her hitting her with horrible force.
"You killed Carl!!!"
he yelled in a way it sounded like there were sobs inbetween. Jinny got her legs under his stomach and launch him just enough off of her to get him off of her. She stood up and had to wait for the room to stop moving. She could feel a few bones that didn't feel normal. She noticed that there was only one guy in the room now. she looked around and saw that Nate was now standing she was about to go over to him but she heard the sound of a gun firing and Nate fell to the ground. Horror stuck her heart, there was no way out of this she was going to die... Then the sound of fire went off again the metal hit her stomach she couldn't help but scream. Jinny hit the floor, her eyes still open still consion. Then Lance stood above her
"this is for me, Carl, and Andy."
Three more bullets made it into her skin the third hit her in the chest and everything went black.


(Note: This goes back to the hospital with Nate in the "present" time.)

C.D. sat at the end of the bed and looked at Nate.
"You scared me to death you know that right?"
"Yeah, well i scared me too."
C.D. gave a little laugh. and looked at the moniters. Once a breathless Magda came into the room. and looked at the two.
"How are you Nate?"
"I'm fine I think unless you found out different."
Mag chuckled and smiled.
"I just heard Captian is outside she came home early to check. C.D. do you want to go see Jinny with us?"
"Yeah I do."
The captain came into the room.
"I just came back from seeing Jinny."
" Ithought that we were seeing her together?"
Mag asked a little hurt.
" I had to go."
"how is she?"
Nate asked it was a question on his mind since he woke up.
" She is......

Casey ran into the room.
"Where is she?!?!?!?!"
He asked in a frantic voice.
"Come on Casey I'll go with you."
Mag said getting up and walked out of the room with casey and down the hall. Not knowing what to do Casey started a conversation.
"Dad got home yesterday morning... Yay haven't told him about Jin yet. Afaird of what it would do."
"I'm sure she'll be fine... She strong you know?"
Casey nodded.
"Hows Ben?"
"Good as he can be. Some how he just keeps his hopes up... I don't know how he does it."
They stopped in front of a door mag put her hand on the knob and heard Casey take a breath.



Teddy sat in his office getting ready for court, looking over files and papers he gathered them and put them in his briefcase.
"see you soon Georgia, I'm going to look over the rest of these at lunch and then I'm off to court."
"Mr. Blumenthal, why are you in such a good mood?'
"Georgia, it's a beautiful day."
"I just thought you would have been sad about what.... happened."
"what are you talking about?"
"Inspector Exstead, she got into a really bad fight, she is in the icu. you mean to tell me you didn't know Mr. Blumenthal?"
Teddy just continued to look at his securitary, he couldn't believe what she had said. Jinny hurt? no not possible.
"hmmm... Can you get Peter to cover my cases, I'm going to take the rest of the day off."
Without waiting for an answer Teddy headed out the door, He headed the oppisite way of his apartment and towards the police department. He got on the elevator and waited as it went up. When the doors opened he pushedd pass people and opened the doors to the division, she wasn't there, his heart raced and then he saw that no one was really there, maybe they all went to lunch. He didn't want to believe what Georgia had told him.
"Teddy are you ok?"
He tuned and saw Raina standing and wait to make sure he was ok.
"Is it true?"
"Is what true? Teddy I think you should sit down."
"About Jin...Tell me she is ok."
"I don't know I haven't been to the hospital yet."
That was all Teddy needed. he went out of the division and began heading home, he couldn't go see her. He got into his apartment a small place but it worked, very neat. he sat on the couch and he remember the first time jinny had come over. He made dinner for her. Then he remeber how the night turned in to dinner and some entertainment. Nothing was ever dull with Jinny around. He went into his room and changed into one of the few pairs of jeans he had and a t-shirt. He decided he needed to get his mind off of what he was thinking and took out the papers in his breifcase. he worked for awhile. the went over to a little desk in his living room to find a pen, he hit something on the inside, a small velet box, he opened the lid and couldn't believe that he had forgotten about it. Inside there was a sliver band with a diamond and two small diamonds on either side of it, he was going to give it to Jinny when they went to Napa. He couldn't hold it in any longer, a tear ecasped his eye. He couldn't lose her, he loved her.

Teddy walked out of his apartment and outside he had no clue where he was going. He continued to walk to nowhere. Somehow he found in front of the hospital. he walked through the doors and up into the elevator to the fourth floor he got to the desk and ask which room inspector exstead was in.

Teddy got the room and the door was cracked open. there was a voice inside.

"Do you remember When you punched me in the face and broke my nose?.... god that hurt. you always could stick up for yourself. Listen I'm sorry for giving you such a hard time. It's just your one of the few that can dish it and take it you know?... All I'm trying to say Jin... Is that your my only sister and no matter what i do or say.... i..... well jinny i love you. so I'll see you tomorrow night, get better i know you have it in you."


Teddy got out of the way of the door when John Jr. came out and nodded at him. Teddy walk into the room and the frist thing that he heard was the beeping of the heart monitor and the first thing he saw was the vent that was hanging above her head. He was afraid to look down afraid that what he would see would be too much for him to bear. Finally after a few minutes of fighting with himself in his head, on weather to stay or not he decided to look down.

he looked down and was shocked at the Jinny that was laying in front of him. He had niver seen her like this. She was weak and helpless, he never wanted to see her like that, he wasn't use to it. He heard the door open a little bit more. he was kinda upset he just wanted to spend time with her by himself. Magda walked in. It didn't take hem long to think why she was still there at this time of night.

"Hows Ben?"

He asked trying to cover up the fact that he still wanted her to leave.

"He's good, with Gabe right now. We told him that Jinny was in here, he wanted to come vist. But i think we should wait untill she gets better."

"You think she going to get better?"

"Teddy! of course she is, it's Jinny. Plus she still needs to tell Ben that story that she promised him. This time it's Alice in wonderland, only Jinny's version."

Teddy chuckled a little, he was told about little red riding hood. He looked at Magda and could tell that she was hurt and scared.

"Mag, whats wrong?"

"Whats wrong? Teddy my llittle boy is fighting his life a floor below and the person that i talked to and the person whoo helped me through it all is fighting for her life. Teddy I can't handle it. Now when i go home it feels empty, thats when I would go to work to get away. I can't do that because Jinny won't be there to help and that place will feel empty too."

"I know what you mean. It's hard."

"Yeah it is."

teddy took a look at jinny again.

"Sure is odd seeing her so...."

"Helpless?"

"Yeah, I'm not use to it."

Gabe stood in the doorway looking at Jinny and then to Magda. Magda saw him and touched Teddy's arm and walked away.
Teddy stood at the foot of the bed, he wasn't even sure if this was Jinny he couldn't tell. She had cuts and bruises on her face and a broke arm. she looked really bad. he couldn't tell if there were anymore injuries because there was hardly any light in the room. He went to the head of the bed and sat in the chair that John Jr. had been in.

"Jin, I'm sorry.... I love you."

he kissed her forehead and left. Teddy found himself in his house with a brown paper bad with some vodka, he took it out of the bag and pulled a shot glass out of one of he cabients. He opened the bottle looked at it, and washed it down the sink. he throw the bottle in the sink afterwards, pieces went all over. he just stared for a couple minutes and walked off to bed. Thinking the whole time

Mag and Gabe pulled into the driveway. It had been a quiet ride. Neither one knew ehat to say, or do. Mag got out of lthe car, she was too tired to even eat, all she wanted to do was for Gabe to hold her and all her problems slipp away, for only a minute.
She followed Gabe into the house, it was warm and it smelled so good. They weren't in the house for five minutes when the phone rang.
"God now what?"
Mag asked just wanting everything to go away
"Hello?"
Gabe answered the phone knowing that it was going to be his work.
"I guess I could.... How long?..... yeah... sure."
He press the button to hang up the phone.
"I have to go to the club honny, I'm sorry."
"What! Gabe you can't go to the club!"
"And why not?"
"Cause I need you here, come on my best firend was taken in to the hospital, on a case that i should have been there for! If I didn't take today off, I would have been right next to Jin on that case!"
Gabe thought about what Mag said he knew it was true but he didn't want to think about, he had too much to think about already.
"I have to go to work."
"Yeah thats right Gabe, It's getting hard, run go and hide in your club, I'm sorry that i believed you! You haven't changed! You are just running away again!"
Gabe stopped walking torwards the door, he turned around he was pissed.
"I'm not running away, I'm going to my job, the one that is helping to pay for the hospital bills, for our son! I'm tired and mad Mag. And what I don't need right before I'm going to work, to help. Is my wife yelling at me because i'm trying to be strong and helpful! I realize what happened to Jin, and i know that could have been you, that is why i hate your job! mag i was in a hospital all day, i watched our son suffer i saw a women who i know helped our realtionship in some way go into E.R. And i held my crying wife. Mag you are not the only one hurting!..... Now I'm going to work."
Mag stood shocked, Gabe had never done that before. she walked over to the phone and dailed three numbers. She stoped she couldn't believe herself, she had tried to call Jinny, Mag sat down on the sofa and just began crying.

The sunlight came through a little crack in the blinds of Nates room. He woke up, all the pain in his side went away. but his mind quickly wondered, he started to think about Jinny, and if she was ok. He laid in bed wondering, he couldn't believe no one had told him yet. A nurse walked by his room.
"hmm....Excuse me?"
"yes can I help you sir?"
She looked in wondering why he had woken up so early.
"That woman that came in with me...Exstead. Is she ok?"
There was worry in his voice, he saw the nurses face drop from the question, he had a feeling he didn't want to know.
'Well she is alive."
the nurse walkedd away rather fast.
"Alive is that all there going to tell me, how alive is she?"
Nate thought to himself, a feeling tiredness ran over his body again, he wasn't use to this usually he had too much energy, he closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep again.

Raina stared at the folder of her first case. She didn't like it at all, she had no leads, all the boys friends knew was that Carl walked home that night.
Mag walked into the Division, she didn't look like she had gotten much sleep, she looked at the empty of her partner and best friend, CD noticed her looking at the desk she stood up and put her arms around mag.
"How you holding up?"
she tried to imagne how hard this must be on mag, but she couldn't.
"I'm ok... I guess."
The captian came out of her office, she looked around she was running low on inspectors.
"Hey everybody, I got new ones, old ones, and I'm going to switch a few around. Raina you and CD are working on Jinny and Nate's case, i want the victim here safely, and the kidnappers and i mean soon! Mag your taking over Raina's missing person, and Peter... You do remember Peter? he got transferred back he's going to be helping you out... Jackson, Smith you two get the robbery on fifth, and Gibson, you get to take over the rape Nate and Jinny were working on. Got all that people?"
She turned arounded and walked back into her office and closed the door. Mag looked over at the door and couldn't believe who was going to help her on this case.
"Peter!?!?! God what else is going to go wrong?"

She hung up the phone, and saw Teddy come into the Division, he looked like he got no sleep at all. He walked over to the Captains office knocked and walked in.
"God he looks Awful."
Raina said as the door closed behind him. Mag looked at CD, and CD looked back they both knew what was going on. CD gave a little chuckle and shook her head.
"Come on Raina lets go down to the hospital and talk to nate. and then we can talk to Tom."
"Whos tom?"
"Tom is the rookie who went to the house and found Jinny and Nate."
"oh."
Cd and Raina left as Peter came walking in.
"Peter! Long time no see."
"Hi Cd. goog to see you. Have you broken in that partner of yours yet?"
"Angela? No she quit she expecting a baby. I got a new partner Nate, we're going to go see him now. Oh you haven't met Raina, peter, Raina. She is a new one."
"Oh good thing she didn't get teamed up with Jin, she would eat you alive kiddo. Too bad about her, Surpised the hell out of me when I heard it.... Is magda in there?"
"yeah... hey see you later?"
"Yeah bye you two."
He walked in and Cd and Raina contiued to the elevator

Cd pulled into the parking lot of the hospital and found a spot quickly, in the background she could hear Raina going on and on about something or other.
"So what do you think?"
Raina asked looking at Cd. Not knowing the question Cd had to think of an excuse not to answer.
"I think we should go talk to Nate."
She answered as she got out of the car and locked. The doors sled open as she came to them, she past the desk holding up her bagde, and into the elevator, Raina followed doing everything Cd did. Cd press the button that read three on it. and looked at the doors as they started to close, soon they heard someone yelling to them to hold the door, Raina did and waited for the man. It was Dusty he came panting into the elevator.
"How you doing Dusty?"
Cd asked not really wanting to talk to him, she knew he was still drinking, and that he had lied to Jinny about it, and she lost all repect for him because of it.
"I.....I'm...Doing...Ok.....you?"
I'm fine, going to talk to Nate about what happened. What about you?"
"I'm going to see Jinny, John told me she looked real bad. Have you seen her yet?"
"yes."
"I haven't."
Raina chimed in hoping to get into the conversation.
"That might be a good thing rookie, I don't think you could handle it yet."
Dusty said, he knew if John thought she looked bad that it really had to be. He hated it. She was a good person, she was a good person before she got into the program, he saw her at her wrost, or what he thought was her wrost, and he still liked her.
The elevator dinged as the door opens They both turned right down a hallway.
"I'm sorry but visting hours haven't starte...."
a nurse started to saw as the three flashed their bagdes. They continued to there rooms. Dusty kept going as Cd and Raina turned in the thrid door on the left. Nate was awake and flipping through channels when he saw them both seeing Raina with Cd told him that they weren't visting.
"Hey."
"Hey, Nate how do you feel."
Cd asked softly.
"The pain killers kicked in."
"We have a couple questions."
"I know."
Raina sat down and flipped to a blank page in her notebook and got ready to write. Cd looked her getting ready and chuckled, she remembered when she had acted like that.
"How many were there?"
Nate looked up at Cd he didn't want to remember anything, he hated it. maybe if he had gotten more sleep the night before all this wouldn't have happened.
"I'll tell you everything if you promise me something."
"What?"
"I want to go see Jinny when we're done, I don't care about the nurses, I need to know. I have to know. Do you know what this is like, i keep wondering what it is like,how bad she is. It's killing me. Promise me Cd."
"Ok. Thats fine. Just how many we're there?"
"Three, and since Jin killed one, two now."
Raina jotted it everything down as best she could.
"did you hear anything?"
"Cd, I was unconscience."
"So you didn't hear or see anything?"
"No, all I know is that they were big, I'm talking 300 pounds here. and a lot of it muscle."
"Thank you Nate. Wheres a wheelchair?"
"I don't need one Cd."
"Nate."
"Cd, I'm fine there going to let me go today, so just let me walk, it was just a bump on the head."
Raina laughed as Nate stood up. Nate just looked at her.
"You might want some pants."
Nate turned red and chuckled
"Could you go ask for them....thanks."
after waiting for Raina to leave Nate turned to Cd.
"So how do you like your new partner?"
"Oh don't even."

Its three days since Nate was questioned by CD and Raina.

He sat on his couch clicking through the mindless infoermials and stupid things that were on t.v now. he got bored with the continus clicking of the up arrow. He went over to the cupboards and fridge. nothing was there he found old chiense food and popped it into the microwave. and waited. It started to pop. when the phone rang.
"hello?"
"hi. nate?. It's Magda."
"hey, whats up?"
"I think you should come down to the hospital. Something is going on with Jinny."
"What? What is it? Is something wrong? Is she ok?"
"Nate just get down here.:
and with that she hung up the phone.
Nate was terrified he grabbed his coat and headed out the door.

Nate ran into the hospital and up to the elevator. it was up on the tenth floor when he pushed the up button. It seemed to take fovever for the elevator to come to the first floor. An middle aged couple came out. The woman had been crying and the man was comfronting her while they got off. Nate took this as a sign, it wasn't a very good sign. He remebered why he didn't like signs all of a sudden.
The elevator dinged and opened. He turned the cornor to see CD, Mag, Raina, a young woman, and the Capatian standing outside Jinny's room.
"Go on in."
Magda said putting her hand on Nate's arm. Nate gave her a "Tell me what's going on look" before he went in. He stopped in the door way. he couldn't believe his eyes.

Teddy sat at his desk, going over the case that was going to court tomorrow. He was suppose to be at his father's birthday party. He let his mother know that he was going to be a little late. He knew he had to go, he really didn't want to.
The only thing on his mind was that Jinny was still in the hospital and that he was going to go visit her again tonight. He just wanted time to slip away so that he could spend more time with her, hopefully this time he could spend the whole time with just her and not Magda this time.
He got into his car and started to drive to the resturant when he saw Nate running down the road, toward the hospital. He decided to shake it off, he was probably just running. Teddy pulled in the parking lot and into a space a little far off from resturant. He got inside and saw his family having a great time.

Gabe sat in the hospital room with his son while Magda was in Jinny's room. Ben was eating his dinner and jabbering away about what he was going to do when he got out of the hospital and how much he missed his friends.
"Dad?"
"Yeah Ben?"
"How come Jinny is in the hospital too?"
Gabe gave a big sigh he was just waiting for this question to come up for the past five days.
"Ben, Jinny, well she was hurt really badly. She was working on a case and some big guys came and surpised her and Nate."
"How come Mom was crying, they couldn't have hurt her too much."
"They did, son, see Jinny has a very scary job, one that you can get hurt in easily. the men had guns Ben, and...they shot her. they hurt her so bad that...(saying under his breath) god how do I explain this to you? (to Ben) It was like she feel asleep, only she couldn't really breathe on her own, and eat on her own. It was like she was taking a very long nap."
"But why was she so scared though dad, I never saw Mom so scared."
"Ben, Mom was scared, because, well this is a bad kind of nap, it's one where you don't always wake up."
"Is she still sleeping dad? Can I go see her?"


Teddy sat in all the chatter of his family. He couldn't get nate running out of his head. he decided to put it all behind him and to enjoy tonight as much as he could. His family talked about what they were going to do for Teddy's father's 60th the next year. In the middle of a story that Teddy had heard way too many times, his cell phone rang.
"sorry....Hello?......Captain can I help you?....She what!?!?!...Yeah I'll be right there!...alright bye."
A huge smiled spread across Teddy's face he got up and kissed his Mom and gave his Dad a handshake.
"I've got to go to the hospital. Have a happy birthday, I'll call you tomorrow. Bye!"
teddy's parents were dumbfounded by how fast he left.
"you know only one person has ever made him his crazy."
Mr. Blumethal said to his wife.
"I know, (she let out a sigh) I know, but did it have to be her?"

"She woke up two hours ago, They're only letting two in at a time. John Sr. and Casey are in there at now."
Nate nodded he wanted to see her for himself, he wanted to know first hand that everything was o.k.
Gabe came down the hallway with tray of coffees for everyone expect Nate.
"Sorry I didn't know you were here yet."
Gabe apologized, Nate just shook his head as if to say "No problem."
Gabe turned his attention to Magda
"Hey Mag, Ben has been asking about Jinny, and he wanted to come her. But I thought it was better if he came and saw her tomorrw. You think she'll be fine with that?"
Magda thought it was a good idea, she didn't want ben to see her before, and now he talk to her.
"yeah tell him that he can see her tomorrow."
Gabe Kissed his wife lightly on the lips and left to go and sit with his son some more.
The door to the room opened and Casey was helping his still weak father to the wheelchair waiting for him in the hallway. The balding white haired man looked to the young woman.
"You want to go see her?"
he asked but it sounded more like a comand.
"You know what dad actually, the babysitter has school tomorrow and i have to put matt to bed, and well..."
Casey butted in he didn't want to hear excuses.
"In other words you just don't want to see Jinny cause your son will have to wait ten more minutes? You seemed more then happy to come get dad out of the hospital. You want to be part of this family then you have to, actually talk and look at other people."
Ronnie started to get red in the face.
"I am part of this family...."
she began put Casey cut her off, and all the while John was yelling at them to stop.
"No Ronnie, a family is there for each other, you don't just show up, yeah you have Exstead blood in you, but you are no Exstead, you want to know why? Cause when one of us is hurting, we're there! Where were you for Dad's first heartattack, the whole time Jinny was trying to get him to quit smoking and drinking, you weren't there!"
he walked away toward the elevators, he was sick of her, she acted so much better. and smarter, he kept thinking if she was so smart, why was she trying to make her way into his family?

Everyone had come and talk to her expect for theodore. She said good-bye to her John Jr. Closed her eyes and fell into a a light sleep, not too much longer she could hear someone in the room. Logically thinking that is was just a nurse she tried to drift into a deeper sleep. Then she heard someone talking.
"God Jin, you scared me to death. Do you hae to be so d**n ballisy? You're going to get yourself killed!"
Jinny opened her eyes and saw Teddy standing at the end of her bed he looked surpise at the fact that she was awake. He avoided eye connact.
"Teddy what are you doing here?"
"Magda called me, and well she said that you had woken up...And I had to make sure everything was ok."
Jinny just looked at him, she wasn't exactly happy nor was she really sad that he had come to see her, it was more that she was confused, he was the one that didn't want to be friends. She swore somtimes he was more moody and girly then she was.
"oh... Why did you real come Teddy?"
He hated that, she could basically see through him when she really wanted to. He couldn't tell her that it was because he was still in love with her, or that he couldn't stand to be away from her anymore.
"Because I was worried. That you were...well... that you wouldn't make it... And we were still fighting..."
Before he could finish his sentence Jinny chimmed in.
"So basically it was guilt that brought you here? Afaird that i was going to die and you wouldn't forget the fact that you had been a b*****d to me before haned. No Theodore thats not how it works."
"I...No Jinny..."
He could see that he wasn't going to win this one so he just left.
Jinny sat in the darkness looking out the window to the half moon that she could see perfectly. She thought about what she had said, it didn't sound at all like somthing that Teddy would do.
"D**n it"
Jinny whispered to her self. Uncontrolable she fell into a deep sleep.

Jinny woke up to a nurse standing over her, checking the I.V. she was older and kind of plump. She had wrinkle by her eyes, probablly from laughing or from too much sun. Jinny looked down at her arm it was in a cast. Jinny groaned, this arm would keep her at the desk for a few weeks at the least.
The nurse heard the groan and gave her attention to Jinny.

"How are you this mornign sweetie?"

Jinny decided to let the "sweetie" part pass. The woman looked kind probably had grandkids.

"Just a little tired and hungry."

Knowing she would regert the hungry part. She hated hospital food. The woman smiled like sh knew exactly what Jinny was thinking.

"I'll see if we have any cerel stored away."

she said with a smile that made her wrinkles by her eyes crease a little bit more. Somehow this made her even cuter.

Nate walked into the dark kitchen. Only the full moon lite the small room. When he opened the fridge the sudden shot a pain though his head. Blinking heavily a few times he began to focus on the empty white cool space, it reminded him oh Jinny's house, empty. Hell it reminded him of Jinny. He still couldn't drop that feeling of guilt, he knew that she was fine, but he wasn't on the top of his "game" that night and it almost cost him a great person. How could he go back to work tomorrow and face Magda, knowing that it was his fault that her partner was in the hospital. He slammed the door shut and stumbled about trying to find the way back to his bed, bumping in the desk and couch. Tomorrow was not going to be a good day.

*Magda’s house*

"Hurry up! your going to make me late!" the curly hair women shouted at her husband, whom was in the bathroom. After spitting out a mouth full of toothpaste he came out into the living room grabbed his coat and held that door open for his wife.
"Thank you." Magda said on her way out. Still not awake Gabe just nodded his head.
Once in the car Gabe adjusted all the mirrors, this was a bad thing about having a short wife.
Magda checked her make up in the mirror.
"When you get there check up on Ben and have him call me. Then go talk to the doctor to see what is to be done about check ups and such."
"Yupp." Gabe added after a yawn.
"Then you Ben and I can have lunch there. And maybe he can see Jinny."
Finding a more interesting topic Gabe looked over at his wife.
"How is she doing?"
Gabe has always had a soft spot for Jinny, after all if it wasn't for Jinny Gabe not be married or even know his fun. Plus she was the only female he knew that would laugh at all his jokes, even the sexiest ones.
"She is good, not very round and about you know. But she is better then they thought she would be at this time. She won't be on the streets for a long time though."
Gabe pulled up to the door of the police station, kissed Magda and waited till she was inside to drive of. He turned on the Bob and Tom show* and Grinned.

*Inside the Division*

Magda walked into the double doors, looked around the room, it was weird not seeing Jinny sitting there. Raina was sitting up doing more paper work. Then Nate caught her eye.
"Hey welcome back!"
The Puerto Rican Smiled at Nate.
"Thanks." Nate smiled a half smile at Magda, all he wanted right now was to go home and curl up in his bed.
"Listen up" The captain called from her doorway. She just always seems to appear.
"Washington and Ramirez you are doing the murder on main...." she continued on with other inspectors who don't really matter because they have nothing to do with this story.
Raina could barely contain her excitement about working her first case.
“So Magda do you want to head down to Main now what?”
Raina was so excited she couldn’t help but smile. Magda chuckled a little.
“Yeah, Raina why usually start by looking over the crime scene.”
“Yeah right… Sorry it’s my first case.”
“It’s ok rookie.”
Magda joked. Turning around to face Nate once again.
“You want to have a quick lunch with me and then visit Ben and Jin at the hospital?”
Nate shook his head.
“No”
He looked up at a confused Magda.
“I have a lot of work I need to catch up on. Some other time though.”
Magda smile and turned to leave with Raina right behind her.

*the Bob and Tom show is a radio show here in michigan, it's an early morning show it's like the radio verision of the man show. Its really funny. It's been around forever...Just thought I'd let you know.

Raina jumped out of the car almost before Magda came to a complete stop. Magda shook her head; this was going to be a case to remember.
“Inspectors!”
Danny called out.
“You got a new one?”
Danny asked Mag looking up at Raina.
“Yeah, she hates the job. I had to drag her down her.”
Danny chuckled.
“Well we got a 20 year old male, Stab wound. Time of death between ten and midnight. Doesn’t look like a robbery; he has more then 50 in his wallet. One thing is eye catching however.”
Magda looked at the Danny as if to say “and that is”
“The blood on the bottom of his shoe. Right there. He didn’t step in his own blood; no shoe prints in any of it. It looks like we are going to find another body sometime soon.”
“Thanks Danny.”
Magda said with a smile. After finishing what she had been writing in her notebook she said good bye and headed toward the car.
“Wait, that’s all?
Raina asked in a pleaded voice.
Magda didn’t look over at the young cop and nodded her head. While she listened to Raina go on about how she thought that they didn’t enough information yet, she heard her cell phone ring in her pocket.
“Hello?”
Magda said in relief to being getting a break from listening to Raina.
“Oh hey! Yeah, you talked to the doctor then? Well what did she say? In a week? That sounds good….. Ok… Yeah I’ll be there in twenty. Ok, Love you too, good bye.”
Hanging up the phone Madga looks at Raina, talking as she opened the door
"I'm going to drop you off at the division, then I'm going to go have lunch with Ben and Gabe."
Raina upset cause she felt like a child
"Yeah sure..."

*At the Hospital*
Ben sat up in his bed. looking at his father during the whole phone conversation.
"Did you tell her I could come home soon?"
The small boy talked very fast as the joy and excitment took over his body.
"yeah I did, she was papi."
Gabe smiled at his son.
"So what do you think mom will want, we should have food here when she gets here."
"Nothing... The food here is horrible!"
Gabe laughed, looking over the menu, he discovered that he had been eating hospital food for three days straight.
"Yeah, it is pretty bad huh?"
Ben nodded and read the menu over his dad's shoulder.
"I want a chocolate milkshake!"
Ben said looking at dad.
"Son they don't have those."
"Well they should!"
Ben stated crossing his arms.

Magda walked though the revoluing doors and right up to the elevator. Reaching her floor, she made a left a little ways down and quickly found the room she was looking for. The door was open just a crack. Before seeing her son, she had to check in on her partner. Opening the door trying hard so it wouldn't squeak. Looking over at the bed and seeing that Jinny was sleeping peacefully, she decided to go see Ben.
"Mag?"
the raspy voice of her partner seemed very forgein to Magda. Turning she smiled at Jinny.
"Hey! I didn't mean to wake you."
"You didn't, I slept too much over the past few days or so."
Jinny gave a weak smile. Magda wasn't use to this. Jinny was never weak. She was one of the strongest people Magda had ever met.Magda smiled at Jinny.
"Hows Ben doing?"
Jinny asked sensing Magda's strange uncomfort.
"Good. He should be out in a week or less. He is really happy about that."
"Yeah I bet... Hey Mag whats wrong?"
Jinny looked at her best friend quizically.
"It's just the stress is getting to me. You know with Ben, the bills, and now you and Nate had to go and do your jobs. You know the one time you actually do what you are suppose to and you almost die."
"See that is why I never do what I'm suppose to. It leads to trouble!"
Magda chuckled at the comment, she was glad that this wasn't going to knock Jin down for too long.

Raina sat down at her desk and went over the information that Danny had given to her that morning. Hearing the Captain's door open she looked up in that direction.
"Nate? Can I see you?"
Nate rose from his desk and walked towards the captain’s rectangular office. Nate sat down in the chair that was in front of the door. Hearing the door being closed behind he soon saw the cap appear behind him.
"Do you think that you should be back at work yet cause if you don't feel like it. I can send you home."
"I'm fine"
He said never looking the captain in the eyes. He felt like throwing up.
"Are you sure?"
Kate wasn't sure that he was telling the truth.
"Positive."
"Will then I guess you wouldn't mind C.D. asking you a few questions about what happened."
"Not at all."
Before he realized what he had said he was sitting in an uncomfortable chair looking at a mirror. CD walked in from the door that leads to the division.
"Hey, how you feeling?"
She asked soothingly
"Fine."
CD sighed knowing that he was lying.
"I need to know everything beat by beat."
"We wait. Went inside. Found the guy. Got the crap beat out of us. And now I'm here.'
Nate once again never looked up.
"Nate... I need details, what they looked like you know how this goes."
"I don't know. There were three or four of them. Big when was black the rest were white."
"There has to be more. Did they have tattoos or-"
"I don't know! I was out of it! They knocked me out! I didn't see anything! Jinny almost died cause I had a bad night!"
Nate stood up and stormed out of the room and to his desk. Grabbed his coat and walked to the elevators. They were on the first floor. He opened the doors to the stairs instead

Coming out of the room CD walked over to the Captain.
"He wasn't ready was he?"
CD shook her head in answer to the captain’s question.
"Jinny's ready, I know it. Go talk to her."
"How do you know she’s ready cap? You haven't even talked to her."
"I'm that good."
With that Cap turned on her heels and went into her office.
CD collected her things and started to head out to the hospital.

Raina sat at her desk waiting for her "partner" on the case to return. Her phone rang three times before she answered it.
"Washington."
She stated in the receiver
"Ok... Thank you."
Hanging up and waiting a few seconds before dialing a new number Raina waits for an answer.
"Magda, Its Raina...They found another body a couple blocks from your vic. Danny thinks they are connected. Ok see you in ten."
Standing up she put her coat on and got the file case. She walked over to the Cap's office and filled her in. walking out she brushed into a familiar looking women.

The woman made her way to the captain's office. Knocked on the door and didn't what for a reply before walking in.
"Thank you."
The women said almost crying. Kate was confused; she had never seen this woman before in her life.
"Your welcome."
Kate said with a smile.
"I know what I have to do know. Thank you so much."
Kate just smiled and watched the woman leave the division.
"Now what the hell was that all about?"
Kate thought to herself.

*Nate's Apartment*
Nate walked in, throws his coat on a chair and walked over the answering machine.
"Nate, it's the captain. Please call when you feel ready. I don't mean to push, but you know that we need this information. Call if you need to talk."
The long beep went after the message, the machine voice gave the time and date in which the captain called. Then the beep for the next message started.
"Nate?...........Nate? Are you there? Nate picked up the phone! Come on, Nate stop playing. Nate call me I'm worried."
He known it was is sister right away. Mom must have told her what had happened. He would call her later. He didn't feel like talking to anyone right now.
Sitting down at his computer he saw a picture that was taken at Raina's party for making inspector. Him, CD, Magda, Raina, and Cap. Jin was missing. He couldn't remember why she wasn't there.
"Oh, her dad."
Nate said aloud.
Standing up. Nate held his stomach. It was still a little sore from everything. He grabbed his coat. Stopped and looked at the clock 4:00.
"No one should be there now."
Opening the door Nate grabbed his keys and left in kind of a hurry.

*The division*
CD walked in and went over to the captain’s office.
"Jinny was sleeping when I got there. I didn't want to wake her I'll go again tomorrow. Anything from Nate?"
"No. Why don't you go check out the scene and then go home."
"Alright Cap good night."
"Night."
Cap continued to look at her file cases. Raina knocked on the captain’s door frame.
“Cap, they body that was found had our first victims blood on it and Magda has this theory-“
Cutting Raina off because she was still bothered about what had happened earlier.
“Had you ever seen the woman that came in here earlier?”
“She looked familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Anyway so Magda’s theory is that-
“Thank you Raina that will be all. Close the door behind you.”
Raina frowned as she closed the door.
“No one ever listens to me around here.”
She said to herself.

*Hospital*
Nate Walked down the hall and into a very dark room. He sensed a little movement from the bed closest to the door.
“Hello?”
It was nice hearing what sounding like Jinny’s voice.
“It’s Nate.”
He said stronger then he thought it would come out.
“Oh, hey. Can you open the curtains? I can’t see a thing.”
Nate made his way to the back of the room past both of the beds and over to the curtains. Pulling them open he turned towards Jinny, who had her slightly closed from the light.
“How are you feeling?”
Jinny asked. Her voice was getting better. Nate felt bad. He should have been the first to ask. He studied her face for a little while before answering. It looked just a little worse then he imagined.
She had a large cut on the side of her forehead. And from what he could see a broken arm.
“Better then you I see.”
He gave a little chuckle. It hurt his stomach but it was the first time he was a little happy. Jinny gave a weak smile.
“I’m doing alright; I’m starting to get a little restless. CD came by.”
“Oh?”
Nate felt bad once again here Jinny was trying to get healed and they are bothering her with questions.
“I pretended to be asleep.”
Nate gave out a bigger laugh. That hurt too. But who the hell cared?
“Nice one.”
“Thanks, I like to think so. Have they begun there investigation yet?”
“Yeah, that’s why CD was here. To get your story. All work and no play.”
Jinny chuckled slightly. Nate saw the hurt on her face as soon as she started to.

“I should go you need rest.”
He stood up to live.
“I have been resting all day yesterday and today. I think what I need is normal conversation. Having nothing to do with injury, and or hospitals.”
“Sounds fair to me.”
Nate sat down again and looked Jinny in the eyes.
“So, what do you want to talk about?”
“I don’t have a topic; that’s your job.”
Nate looked at her.
“So you have been “resting” for two days and you couldn’t think of anything to talk about?”
“Well there are so many things to talk about while in hear. You want to hear about the Jell-O I had for lunch oh oh or when they changed my I.V.?”
Nate smiled. A real Smile.
“O.K. O.K. I get it. Hmmm Ben should be out of here in a few days, thought it was going to be about a week but the doctor said he was getting a lot better.”
“That’s good.”
“Yeah Mag is thinking about throwing him a party.”
Jinny shook her aching head.
“She spoils him a little bit too much.”
The two continued to talk and Nate got out a few more painful laughs, before the nurse came in -Madison- seeing Nate she started the Its-past-visiting-hours speech.
“But if you want to stay a couple more minutes you can.”
She gave Nate a little wink. He returned with a shy smile.
“As for you.-“
Turning to face Jinny.
“You get to start P.T. tomorrow and how well you do the will determine how long you stay here. SO you need your rest!”
“Thank you Madi I will be sleep to go to sleep early might even have to skip dinner…”
“Oh no you are not! You haven’t eaten a full meal for the last two days.”
“Can you blame me?”
Madison shook her head and laughed.
“You must have given your Mother heck as a child.”
Jinny avoided the eyes of the two people in her room and just looked out the window.
“I’m really not hungry I just want to go to sleep.”
Nate who was amused by the little argument felt a large change in Jinny’s mood.
“I better be off. I’ll see you tomorrow Jin.”
Jinny looked up at Nate and smiled. Madison came out after Nate and just left the door a crack and went off to the nurses station.

Looking over bills, sighing and drinking her beer. Gabe came into the room after talking to his boss about extra hours.
“You know I finally realized why Jinny drank all the time. She couldn’t pay her bills.”
Mag joked; she had obviously had more then one beer.
“I think it’s time you went to bed, I’ll finish this up and then we won’t have to worry about the government coming after us if you do make a mistake.”
“I’ll only go to bed if you come with me.”
Gabe knew now that his wife had had way too much to drink in one night.
“Oh I’m going to go get you some crackers and sprite and then you can go to bed.”
Leaving for the kitchen Magda followed closely behind.
“Come on.”
She kissed the back of his neck as he grabbed a sprite out of the fridge.
“That’s it we aren’t keeping anymore beer in the house!”
Gabe stated matter-of-factly.
Magda laughed.
“What I can’t want to have a good time with my man?”
“Your man? Oh really can never drink again. Yes you can want to have a good time, just never after bills and coming home from the hospital. It’s just not you.”
Magda pulled Gabe into the bedroom and Gabe decided not to resist anymore.

Shutting the door behind her. She throw her brief case and jacket on the couch, walking into the kitchen she noticed that she didn’t have any messages, this surprised her. Walking over the refrigerator she pulled out left over mashed potatoes, Garlic chicken, and a small salad, making herself a plate she went to a fridge in the garage and got a diet vernors out. She went over to the CD player and put on some Simon and Garfunkel. The bell dinged on the microwave, setting a plate for herself she began to eat. Half way through her meal her phone rang, not wanting to ruin her dinner she let the machine get it.
“Kate, it’s Charles. Listen I need to talk to you about Exstead tomorrow. I’ll be in your office first thing in the morning.”
Well that was enough to ruin her dinner.
