The Oscar-nominated, Tony-winning Welsh actress, best known for her role in Mary Poppins as the spirited feminist mother Winifred Banks, died today of natural causes. The year before Mary Poppins premiered, Johns starred in the short-lived Glynis (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0T1zIzAfyEM), a CBS sitcom built around her created by I Love Lucy head writer Jess Oppenheimer, in which she plays a mystery writer who solves crimes alongside her husband. Glynis aired on CBS from September through December 1963.
