View Full Version : What did you think of the 1st show?
stinky pete 09-13-2002, 08:24 AM I thought it was good. My wife on the other hand didn't like it but she was in and out of the room so she wasn't really watching. I think some of the pranks the kids will be pulling in future episodes should be funny. We'll see.
Notorious 09-13-2002, 04:33 PM I loved it!
Will and Grace Fanatic 09-13-2002, 05:08 PM I thought it was okay. I wasn't really watching the whole episode. I kept on going from Friends to Family Affair. From Scrubs to Family Affair and Lizzie McGuire. But it looked okay. I don't think the jokes were that good though.
AdiTheGame 09-13-2002, 08:44 PM Oh my god I hate this show. The comedy is dull, and it seems like a movie, and not even a good one. The canned laughter was so noticable. I hope this is cancelled soon. When Family Affair will be fighting with Survivor and Friends for ratings, then it is in for a tough battle.
Central Perk 09-13-2002, 10:45 PM I thought it was pretty good but the laugh track needs to go imo.
IheartMoonlighting 09-14-2002, 02:07 AM If the show sticks around the entire season, the laugh track will probably be gone by episode 13. Shows usually go through some sort of retooling by that episode.
BlairandJo 09-14-2002, 11:10 AM On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) I would give it a 7, there were 3 things I did not like:
1. The laugh track.
2. Jody. (I think they should have choosen a different Jody)
3. Sissy talks too much.
Other then that I love the show.
AdiTheGame 09-14-2002, 11:24 AM I'd give it a 2, a 3 at best.

I thought the laugh track belongs in the show. I liked the Jody, he acted fine. And, Sissy was so hot, it didn't matter how much she talked:D .
AdiTheGame 09-14-2002, 12:09 PM Lol, that's one thing I agree on.
TV Guy 09-14-2002, 07:52 PM Luke Benward, who played Jody in the pilot, will be replaced by Jimmy "Jax" Pinchak starting with the second episode.
Tim Curry is the only good thing about this show. The script was horrible, and the little actress playing Buffy was wooden. The laugh track was completely out of place on a show that was clearly not filmed in front of an audience, but rather filmed like a movie (dark lighting and all).

Okay, hot shot. Let's see you do better.
Central Perk 09-15-2002, 09:58 AM Since the show looks like a movie I think they need to get rid of the laugh track..it just seems out of place. Tim Curry was the funniest thing in the show and I thought the kids did well.
While I'm sure the show got tremendous ratings with the one hour "preview episode" the other night, it will not survive the heavy competition from returning shows.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the genre of "family" shows; cute kids an lots of hugging tend to make me woozy, the pilot was amusing; mostly because of Tim Curry.
BlairandJo was right, Sissy does talk too much, but I was happy to see they made her a pleasant teenager, not a surly brat like say Rachael Green on "E.R."
Crimson and Clover 09-15-2002, 02:21 PM i loved all of it except the laugh track.
edwardwoodbine 09-15-2002, 03:03 PM i see the first show of the new family affair out of 10 i gave it a 4.9 beacuse the new french is a grumpy person and cissy is the rachel green of er. replace tim curry with someone whos not grumpy.if brian keith anissa jones and the first mr french were watching in heaven they would say hey what the hell happen with the first show ed
