The words near the end are in Spanish. This is very usual of
Feliciano style, he always uses his feelings and inspiration to
add more "spice" to his songs.
He adds near the end of the song:
Oyeme,Chico,..Chico,
vamos al vacilon.
Mira, caminando por las calles de Los Angeles,
Chico se encuentra solo,
como yo me encontre una vez...
Oye,Chico, vamos a vacilar,vamo' a vacilar
que yo me voy,
que yo me voy,....
que yo me voy,yey,..
tuuruuru,tu,tu,tu...........
He's speaking directly to Chico on this part, like giving advice to an old friend,...
Listen,Chico,...Chico
let's go fool around;have a good time.
Look, walking those Los Angeles streets,
Chico is so lonely,
as I once ....
Hey, Chico, let's have a good time,
and I'm going,
going,
going,yey...
tururututu.........
The word 'Vacilon' does not have a true english translation.
It means: have a good time, fool around, hang w friends and
FORGET your troubles.
Good old advice, from a man that's been on his shoes.
Hope this is useful.
Take care and post often!
And group,.... Keep the 'vacilon' going!

I don't think I have heard that part, even though I have the only Jose Feliciano album with both the entire opening and closing themes on it. I will have to listen to it again. This sounds very perceptive--wonder if Jose met Freddie before writing it and could sense the loneliness he was already feeling? I have always wondered that, just from the opening line of the song ("Chico, don't be discouraged..."), but this makes me wonder even more!

ooo, thanks for the translation! i am half mexican, but my mother wanted me to be american, so i never got the hang of spanish. i am also wondering if he knew freddie, and about the troubles he was having.
i always loved that song! i remember it more than i do the series! (hey, i was only seven-ish! i have a lot of catching up to do!)
