View Full Version : Did anyone like Johnny Carson? Fan of old shows 09-03-2002, 10:40 PM i know his show wasnt a sitcom, but did anyone still find interest in his show? Mysty Eyes 09-03-2002, 11:24 PM I didn't really watch his show. I never have been much into talk shows, and I was kind of young for most of the time that he was on. My sister and brother-in-law liked him a lot. For me... he was okay, but like I said, I rarely watched. I do watch Leno, though. But only for the monolog, headlines, and Jay Walking. Once the celebrities come on, I usually change the channel. JoPol_wannabe 09-04-2002, 12:46 AM I liked his show it was funny. Hey I've got to like my fellow Nebraskans. My favorite when he did Carnac the Magnificent. He was very funny there never will be another one like him. Moonlight Lady 09-04-2002, 12:41 PM Yes, I liked Johnny Carson. Carnac was good and I also liked it when he would read letters to santa, around christmas time and when he would have the Zoo people on and they would bring their animals on the show. cablejockey 09-04-2002, 01:54 PM Johnny Carson's been off tv for 10 years. He left the Tonite Show in May 1992 and Jay Leno took over. I wish Johnny had stayed on for a few more years, Leno is a poor substitute. Central Perk 09-04-2002, 03:46 PM From what I've seen from the NBC 75th anniversary I thought he was pretty funny. Crimson and Clover 09-04-2002, 04:11 PM i didnt watch him when he originally aired i was kinda young but i have seen tapes of his shows and i really like him. plus he was a very good looking man. dawsongirl 09-04-2002, 07:30 PM Yeah, he's funny. But right now I'm mad at him because apparently he only has episodes he hosted in his vault for sale. I wanted the ones Richard Dawson hosted. harper 05-23-2003, 10:22 AM he had more class and timing and was a better listeners then leno, letterman,or conan put together. He knew if the stars were great and the band was on and ed had it going he was going to have a great show.Johnny could be funnier saving a joke better then anyone. He wasn't arrogant like letterman is.letterman isn't as funny or as witty as Carson and never will be.he thinks being taking away from his guest makes the show funnier. When he has seinfeld or robin Williams on he trys to hard to feed them lines to get them going,He just doesn't have the charisma that Carson had or has and still does.Leno and C.think there being cute being smarmy and sarcastic with guests.Johnny didn't have to get mean or punchy with his guests,He was great with kids and animals.Carson will always be king.I miss the King BrandonS 05-31-2003, 01:27 AM Everything Harper said goes double for me. I don't care how old they are, I want Johnny and Ed back. jayman75 06-03-2003, 08:41 PM Originally posted by BrandonS Everything Harper said goes double for me. I would grab my Johnny DVDs if there was a fire... pna42 06-03-2003, 10:55 PM Leno isn't even worthy of shining Letterman's shoes. Johnny was the master of the genre and Letterman is his successor. Leno is all smarmy like he's the funniest guy on the planet. Leno knows nothing about what comedy is. He stole the Tonight Show. For years it was hard to swallow that Leno took over the tonight show. I was only 8 when Johnny left, but I was one disappointed viewer. I've watched Leno from time to time, but since Carson left, it's Letterman who's the man. onefortheroad 07-01-2003, 10:29 PM carson was THE man Penny Lane 07-02-2003, 11:31 AM I liked him!
