View Full Version : The Digital TV mystery has been solved, I found my Antenna to get Antenna TV!!! TVFactFan 06-24-2023, 01:10 AM ONLY $20..:wave: Frank Gannucci 06-26-2023, 11:51 AM It could be with how far the afifiliate is from your house as well as how powerful the station is amongst other things. ThisLittlePiggy 06-26-2023, 12:13 PM Yes, I have issues once in awhile with certain stations and I found out it's usually the distance of the station or the power of the station being broadcast. I sometimes get a station in one room of the apartment but not in another room. Stations can be very finicky. I was also told some TV sets are apt to bring in better reception and one of my televisions is quite old and the other one is three years old. A few factors can be at play with those issues. TVFactFan 06-26-2023, 06:28 PM It could be with how far the afifiliate is from your house as well as how powerful the station is amongst other things. So buying a $60.00 antenna is a waste of time? lol TVFactFan 06-26-2023, 06:29 PM Yes, I have issues once in awhile with certain stations and I found out it's usually the distance of the station or the power of the station being broadcast. The only thing that comes in Crystal Clear is METV and Catchy Comedy Frank Gannucci 06-26-2023, 08:38 PM So buying a $60.00 antenna is a waste of time? lol Maybe. I bought a digital antenna that claims it can reach over 100 miles. I bought it among other reasons to get stations from Tampa and Miami (different TV markets than from where I live that is within 100 miles from where I live) and I couldn’t get any stations from Tampa. I did however get a couple stations that my cable system doesn’t carry. You may also want to get an antenna just in case your cable is out for a long time like as in a lot of days. The one I have now is a RCA and i says 60miles. The one that is $55 says 550 miles so I may go ahead and get that one. Mainly because in the summer its not much to watch since its no sports. 24/7 reruns 06-27-2023, 05:56 AM Maybe. I bought a digital antenna that claims it can reach over 100 miles. I remember growing up my family had a huge aerial antenna that rotated. We point it in one direction we'd get stations in Pittsburgh, another direction Steubenville Ohio, and another to Johnstown PA. Years later my grandmother and uncle lived in Vermont near the Canadian border. They also had a huge aerial antenna and got stations in Burlington Vermont which was across the state, Canada and New Hampshire. Recently my aunt who lives east of Pittsburgh had a large indoor antenna set in her attic. Digital TV started at that time. She did get stations from various locations but not as easy as how my family and grandmother did in the Analog era. 24/7 reruns 06-27-2023, 05:59 AM So buying a $60.00 antenna is a waste of time? lol Too bad we don't have Radio Shack any more. Go to a good electronics store like Best Buy and get advise from them. They will have many antennas to choose from. You're bound to find one that works assuming the channels you're trying to find are strong enough to be reached. Zoneboy 06-27-2023, 11:26 AM I highly suggest getting a Mohu leaf antenna. The range on these is 65 miles and maybe higher. I have one and have yet to find anything better. I tried mine in 3 separate locations in the house and the most channels I have received is 93. I currently get the following: Antenna - 3 Bounce - 3 Buzzr - 0 Catchy - 1/2 (Affiliate constantly simulcasts programming from WRAL) Charge! - 2 Comet - 2 Cozi - 2 Get - 3 Grit - 3 H&I - 2 ION -2 LAFF - 3 METV - 3 Rewind - 3 This - 0 This list doesn't include channels received with Roku. One of the disadvantages of digital is it tends to give either a great picture or no picture at all. I used to pull in fuzzy or ghost pictures from cities where I don't receive anything now. Zoneboy 07-01-2023, 02:53 AM The new $60 antenna TV will get channels up to 550 Miles Did you mean 55 miles? No antenna will receive signals from that far. You're lucky to get any channels beyond 60-70 miles away. TVFactFan 07-01-2023, 02:58 AM Did you mean 55 miles? No antenna will receive signals from that far. TVFactFan 07-03-2023, 02:28 PM Thanks, I'd have to see it to believe it. I didnt spend $55 I ended up gettting another one that was only $20 and I finally got Antenna TV. I will post soon TVFactFan 07-03-2023, 02:48 PM Maybe. I bought a digital antenna that claims it can reach over 100 miles. I was able to get a antenna from Amazon for only $20 and finally got Antenna TV. Nice and Clear:) Only one small negative which leads to another mystery......Why cant I get METV, Catchy Comedy and Antenna Tv together? lol So the new antenna gets me Antenna TV but not catchy and metv. So If I need to see those channels I can just hook up the other antenna. franciis 07-03-2023, 07:54 PM college kids love antenna tv....we kids want it back....what type of antenna did u get ? we no longer have ant tv...channel because closest tv station that has ant tv channel is about 76 miles away over the hills...how many miles will your antenna go ? Ostrat 2023 Updated TV Antenna Indoor MRPITT 07-03-2023, 08:54 PM I bought 3 Antennas ranging from $10-$80. They all worked about the same. I saw no difference in any of them so I returned all of them except the $9.99 RCA one. TVFactFan 07-03-2023, 09:17 PM I bought 3 Antennas ranging from $10-$80. They all worked about the same. I saw no difference in any of them so I returned all of them except the $9.99 RCA one. I have 2 now and have to keep the RCA antenna because it gets METV and Catchy comedy while the new one gets Antenna TV and not the other two. For a second it looked like I had no more use for the RCA antenna Frank Gannucci 07-03-2023, 11:56 PM We’re you able to get channels from different TV markets that you haven’t gotten in the past? TVFactFan 07-04-2023, 12:32 AM We’re you able to get channels from different TV markets that you haven’t gotten in the past? Yeah A few from NJ came in and I live in Philly. But the only weird thing is I dont get METV and Catchy Comedy with the new antenna lol So whenever I need to watch a marathon on one of those channels I will just plug in the old antenna. But the main purpose of the purchase was to get Antenna TV and I got it and very satisfied and only had to spend 20 Frank Gannucci 07-04-2023, 12:38 AM Yeah A few from NJ came in and I live in Philly. But the main purpose of the purchase was to get Antenna TV and I got it and very satisfied and only had to spend 20 When I got my antenna, I was hoping to get stations from Tampa and/or Miami. It would’ve been like having my own mini satellite dish. Instead, that didn’t happen. I did get sone stations that my cable system doesn’t carry though. None of which I am interested in. Apologies if this just confuses things: this video explains the difference Low VHF, High VHF, and UHF antennas. https://youtu.be/IEZhdLC8j2w It's mind-boggling to someone old like me: we watch the same channels as years ago (2-13), but those channels are usually received in the UHF range now and the TV just tells us it's the same station (not kidding). There are still some stations that are received down in the old VHF range, and if you don't have the right antenna you couldn't get one of those stations if you lived next door to it. So if the stations you're not picking up are low VHF, it could be the new antenna just doesn't pick those up. I will see what happens when I do short range Coffeecup 07-04-2023, 02:56 PM [QUOTE=Zoneboy;6174733]I highly suggest getting a Mohu leaf antenna. The range on these is 65 miles and maybe higher. --- I have this antenna I bought a year ago to cut down price on an adapter I had from comcast. I get similar stations as you Zoneboy but a several crime type shows that shows a murder investigation solved by forensic evidence and a bunch of PBS stations. My transmission is spotty. Some days can do somewhat well. Then turn off the set and 4 days later turn on and nothing so I keep resetting. As of now can't get a single station. The most I could set to was 35 stations. I think the wind or weather plays a part on how well you do on days. So Keep you comcast and use this as a spare. I will admit the Mohu when it works, does pick up a few stations I don't get with Comcast. TVFactFan 07-04-2023, 03:35 PM [QUOTE=Zoneboy;6174733]I highly suggest getting a Mohu leaf antenna.
