One major reason for the protesters, is the cost that citizens will be paying, like 125Million, in times when the citizens are having struggles to feed themselves.

He is King Charles III. His ancestor King Charles I was beheaded in 1649. Very sad about Diana. Charles and Diana were leading separate lives from 1987 until her death ten years later.

I stayed up and watched about four hours of the Coronation since I am a history buff. It was a lovely ceremony.

I did watch the entire wedding between Diana and Charles back in July 1981.

That's not really what the Coronation is about. Anyway from memory Victoria Beckham has three homes, one of which is located in Miami, Carrie Johnson, wife of disgraced Prime Minister Boris, is a nonentity, and Rachel Riley is a regular game show member, so not sure why she would be invited to Westminster Abbey anyway.

I recorded it and watched it last night. It was kind of dull, but seeing the crowns and the ermine robes was pretty interesting. BoJo and Carrie were there.

One of the U.S. news people doesn't realize there are only 2 syllables in the word "vestments." Repeatedly "vest-uh-ments" by mistake.

I didn't say I expected to see Rachel there; I merely stated she is the type of person worth watching in BBC programming...! 8 out of 10 cats do Countdown, they can do the Coronation too! :)

Jill is not my first lady and since I'm not a Brit I can't truly say how I'd feel about the royals today and Queen Camilla. I've met a few Brits on forums in my life and they were not too enthralled with the royals....

We're not allowed to discuss politics now. The irony is that the Monarchy as an institution is supposed to be above politics. I suppose that leaves the Royals viewed as personalities. My own view is that Charles and Camilla should be left to lead the rest of their lives in peace, without constant sniping and harping back to Diana, who had good and bad points just like the rest of us.

As I mentioned before (in a prior post) I watched the Coronation because of my love for history.

I see it as they are huge hypocrites and not much Love for their children no matter what their children choose to do in their lives....you gotta follow the royals Line...or you are left out.

It's not shunning it's Royal protocol. Yes it doesn't seem fair. There are rules of which they were well aware.

I don’t know them of course, but it seems Queen Elizabeth refused to abdicate out of obligation to the country, whatever obligations a Constitutional Monarch has. I have actually read that the Monarch does actually have real power if they choose to exercise it but never do.

Again, don’t know them except in tabloids and shows but Charles for the most part seems like an Ok guy. I maybe wrong but I think the Queen sort of forced him to get married since he was like in his thirties. Honestly that’s most parents who have kids who are 30 and single and want to know why they aren’t married. Camilla was out because she was a divorcee, so Diana was picked out of the choir so to speak. Makes you wonder, how do royals date? It’s not like they can go to the movies, or go to a restaurant in private or a long drive or the beach. Diana was chosen for Chuck and they were a bad match. To be Frank, I never found her that attractive to begin with, and she got really depressed because she was young and wanted to do her own thing and she realized how much it sucks to be World famous and can’t leave your house without a huge security escort and “paparazzi” yobs behind every tall bush with a camera. Again, don’t know them but she was of a different generation than Charles. Other than that, what has Charles ever done wrong or bad? I know what it’s like waiting for a parent to die who is in their freaking 90’s but refuse to walk the tunnel to the light.

If I was British, I think I would want the Royals gone in many ways, mostly because of cost and why should the taxpayer pay for a billionaire family living in mansions. But on the other hand, Royalty is a huge symbol of the United Kingdom. Not anymore but some of their ancestors were real bastards, almost of the Kim Jong Un variety. I told the story earlier of a distant direct ancestor who was charged with beheading Mary Queen of Scots at the behest of Elizabeth I.

The later Empire was also made from conquest and brutality. Those diamonds on that heavy crown came from some miner in a far off one that is no longer the UK.
