vienna waits 08-23-2002, 11:02 PM My bio teacher is always saying damn and im really starting to get annoyed. Teachers aren't supposed to cuss!!! He's like "I'll be damned if...!" "Well damn!" .... its not right I dont think. Since when can teachers cuss without getting in trouble?? My teachers last yr would like never cuss.. some came close but stopped because they knew theyd get in trouble... i dont get why he thinks he's allowed to cuss. I'm considering complaining to someone about it.
dawsongirl 08-23-2002, 11:08 PM Wait until you get to college. It gets a lot worse. But you're right, in High School it shouldn't be done. If saying something about it would help, I'd do it.
Will and Grace Fanatic 08-23-2002, 11:12 PM I've had teachers in high school and middle school that used worse language than that. I had one teacher in 8th grade tell a student he was being an ass.

If he's an older teacher, he might be tenured. When a teacher is tenured, their jobs are most likely secure. They dont have to "dress-up" for work, they can wear sneakers, they're allowed to just give their students paper work to do instead of actually teaching them anything. Teachers like that are usually more layed back. They may feel power at that point cuz they kno they wont lose their jobs over petty little things. Therefore, ur teacher may feel that he is allowed to do w/e the hell he wants. My teachers cuss ALL the time. Gawd...u shud see the substitute teachers....horrible...anyway....hope that helps....
Swimfan85 08-23-2002, 11:22 PM yah none of my teachers ever cussed but they have done some stupid things...espically the first year teachers they are such wrecks...but yah they have come close when they have screwed up a lot
Babes_Cat 08-23-2002, 11:35 PM Ha, my history teacher last year was worse than that!
Where I went to school, the coaches tend to cuss more than any other of the teachers. My geometry teacher cussed all the time, telling us to shut the **** up and stuff like that, but someone turned him in. I don't know if he actually got in trouble, but I know he didn't cuss nearly as much after that. He started saying stupid stuff like "Be nice little sheepies and shut the flock up" instead. It really got on my nerves though, nobody should use language like that, especially teachers.

Sean Snow 08-23-2002, 11:55 PM Er our teachers don't cuss cept one of the male coachs. He is so annoying. He got mad at me for not speaking up today  Anyway last year someone said they heard him say 'mother . . . ' you know under his breath. He is just so . . . AGRAVATING *Rips Hair Out*
DarleneIllyria 08-24-2002, 12:54 AM Some of the teachers at my school had their moments too. I agree that a teacher shouldn't cuss at the students. I know that sometimes that you have a few problem students, but you should talk to them in private instead of telling the whole class to "Shut the hell up."
LucyFan 08-24-2002, 01:39 AM I have a question: do most of you go to public school? Because I have heard that public school is ten times as worse as private school.

Two of my teachers last yr were like this. I cant count the number of times the one told some students to "shut the f*** up" or worse. This one english teacher called some students esssay a "piece of s***"
Oh and my band director endearingly calls me and a few of the underclassmen flutes (somehow he has the idea im their leader...) "the bitchery"
They really shouldnt be like that to high school students, I mean, thats some example they set. Oh, and I go to public school.

Ditto. But Jeff...if this is bothering you, you should probably tell somebody like your principal our counselor or your parents if you haven't already. That might help if they're able to do something. I personally think teachers cussing is just wrong...it's really not a good example to set even if their students are already in high school and college and stuff... I mean..teachers aren't supposed to cuss.

Kids wise it is, but the private schools in Massachusetts are 2 years behind on curriculum purposes. Public schools here have MUCH better education

Some private schools are very good in Massachusetts. The school I go to is terrible.
Dang, that is most definately the difference in school systems. My teacher apologizes when she even THINKS about telling us to shut-up. I couldn't begin to imagine any of my teachers cussing, especially when they get onto the students for coming close to doing so...

FOLrocks1 08-24-2002, 04:49 PM Well I think you should definatly say something to someone. Principal, parent....
AllIWantIsYourClutch 08-24-2002, 06:34 PM One of my 7th grade teachers swore all the time.
He got fired that year.

Hah. My biology teacher gave us this huge lecture about shut up. He said "I have a dog at home. I didn't even want the dog. I hate it...but as much as I hate it, I have never once told it to shut up."
DJM77 08-24-2002, 07:58 PM I had several teachers in high school that would cuss once in a long while. But then my english teacher would punish her students if she heard them say "shut up" or "stupid."

HOWEVER, this summer, when I was taking courses at a highschool, a teacher told a student to step outside (we were at the school library at the time) because he was cursing out this other kid.
The student said "no," the teacher started screaming at him, telling him to "Get the hell out." Then the kid shoved the teacher, and he fell. (He was pretty old and wasn't exactly too stable.) The teacher picked up a textbook and flung it at the kid. Well, obviously then, everyone was gathered around them.
Afterwards, the teacher quit the next day and the kid got kicked out of the summer program. -The end. :talk:

There was this teacher at my elementary school who is retired, but for awhile he was sent back to the school for when teachers needed a substitute. One day this kid was talking in class and the teacher actually told him to shut up. In high school, I hear this word being said all the time and it's no big deal, but in the school in my town, it was almost taken like he had just said a swear word or something.
Blair85 08-25-2002, 02:17 AM That's stupid that the teacher is saying "damn". What's he/she's damn problem? hee, hee. I wouldn't talk to them about it though because there's a possibility you may get the teacher mad at you for the rest of the year. JUst take it like a man..You can handle it.
Gawd, I don't wanna go back to school. I liked school until last semester when I went crazy because of 2 classes. In my math class, I learned diddley squat cause the teacher just talked about himself. In English, all we did was poetry. I HATE poetry!!!!!!!!!! N E way, sometimes some teachers would say the big bad s-word, so when my science teacher said it last year in front of me I said, "Hey, you said sh*t!, Does that mean I can say sh*t in school too???" Well..he didn't like that very well, but I didn't give a sh*t! Teachers need not cuss in school.

I went to public school. I don't think the cussing was out of hand for all teachers. Most of my teacher wouldn't swear in front of students at least not on purpose. Sometimes a swear word would slip unintentionally. Not a big deal if you ask me.
But about 2 years ago I had this teacher who hated his job and was always swearing. No one really cared. The students just started to swear in front of him cause they knew they wouldn't get into trouble.
A few students I knew had this one science teacher that swore alot and said alot of racist, sexist and homophobic things. They actually tried to get him fired by reporting him but nothing really happened. He left the school and became a substitute teacher. But not because of the students trying to get him fired.

Our church schools in Iowa are behind too. My cousin was in a Catholic school from kindergarten thru 6th and she could hardly read when she went to public. Now she's getting straight A's.

OK, I'm going off in a few but I have to put something in here.
1. Rumors say that public schools are worse than Catholic/Private school. Not true. It doesn't matter what type of school it is, it matter's what type of people attend that school.
2. The Public school system is much much more advanced and way ahead than the Catholic school system. I went to Catholic school for 10 1/2 years. I didn't learn Algebra until 8th grade when the publuc schools in Chicago taught Algebra in 6th. We were still on fractions in 6th.......
3. The people are worse and more ferocious (sp?) in the Catholic school system. What you basically get are a bunch of stuck up upper-class spoiled snobs who think they can do what they want, when they want. Then you get teh few acceptions with working middle class people and scholaship provided lower class people, which come to an interesting mix of fights and brawls in the hallways and cafeteria. NOw I'm not speaking from rumors, but from my experience of the CAtholic school system.
4. I'v e been in a public school for about 2 years now and I can clearly say that I've had more fun, experiences, and good times here than all my other years combined of teh Catholic school system.
So to wrap up this long long post, If you gave me either a million dollars to go to a Catholic school or gave me nothing to go to a public school, I'd gladly take the public school anyday. Some might call me crazy, but from my experience, it makes sense.
Nuff' said. I'll be back on Sunday. Later...... ;)
