Definitely the parents if that is where the kid got the gun.

An update: Unbelievable

What if the shot to the teacher was fatal, Who Pays???

Boy, they sure are going to great lengths to protect the identity of the shooter, and his parents.

Age and gender is all they leak out. Almost inspires one to wonder what they are protecting?

Here we are, almost a week later. And no one has yet identified the parents. Seems odd, almost makes you wonder what they are hiding?

Here, if a parent so much as just leaves their children unattended inside a car in a parking lot, their picture is all over the newspaper and TV news reports.

Allowing a child access to a loaded gun one would think might be news worthy?

I heard that story and said " What is upbringing of children these days". I am more concerned of the teachers health. I would think that child would be remove from school, and his siblings as well from the school. You wondered how the families of both the teacher and student will be in 5 years.

This is some scary stuff. A 6 year old who shot his Teacher? Generally, when a Teacher is shot, it's a deranged Adult mass shooter doing the shooting. I think this might be the only story in history that a 6 year old shot a Teacher. Generally, the 6 year old would be the innocent victim in a shooting incident, not the perpetrator. This reminds me of the 6 year old who brutally murdered his 13 day old Baby sister when she wouldn't stop crying (People thought,"Okay, he's only 6. He must have put his hands over the 13 day old's mouth and nose in order to stop her crying, not knowing he was suffocating her," and were stunned he killed her by twisting her body and banging her head repeatedly against the car ceiling." Both of these 6 year olds are very disturbing. The one who brutally murdered a 13 day old baby for crying and the one who shot his Teacher.

For those interested in this bizzare happening, I give up, too much craziness out there.

There is something fundamentally wrong with this story. Still no ID on the parents.

Locally we have a news story where two parents were arrested for neglect for having an unsafe home with drugs within the reach of a 4 year old....and their pictures are all over the newspapers and TV news.

Yet in this shooting story, you have a parent placing a deadly weapon within access of a 6 year old, who then took the gun to a school, and shot an innocent person.......yet they are shielding the identity of the gun provider?

Something really stinks here. It's like someone has decided that an informed public must be avoided at all cost

Here is an interesting parallel.

In Indiana a preschool age toddler was recorded on an apartment complex security camera brandishing a loaded Smith and Wesson automatic pistol, police were called. And despite no shots being fired the parent responsible has been arrested for felony child endangerment and their identity made publicly known

https://www.wane.com/news/indiana/report-indiana-man-arrested-after-young-child-seen-with-gun/

Yet still in the teacher shooting incident, no disclosure has been made as to the identity of the parent who made the weapon available?

WHAT ARE THEY PROTECTING by keeping the parent identity from the public? What interest is being served? really starting to stink, imo

Here we are, almost a week later. And no one has yet identified the parents. Seems odd, almost makes you wonder what they are hiding?Ya makes ya wonder if its even real!!

What 6yo would be that mean??

Probably another attempt to take guns away from innocent people..... (I hope,I really dont wanna think a 6yo would do this)

Perhaps I'm getting overly cynical with age, but I'm more suspecting this family might have some tie-in to someone of a sensitive nature. Maybe some one having political clout, or who makes their living being a "social conscience" for the rest of us. Some aspect threatening "dangerous optics" if more info became widespread knowledge.

I could be wrong, just speculating of course. etc etc

But if you compare to just about any other event of similar magnitude, there is not such a total vacuum of data, as we have here.

Why wouldn't the teacher want to sue the parent, for instance? Shooting victims sue the gun manufacturer all the time, and win. So you'd think they would be all over the parent. It's just how America is done these days

Well, the parents of the shooter have finally come forward with a statement

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/family-of-6-year-old-virginia-student-who-shot-his-teacher-breaks-silence-insists-gun-was-secured/ar-AA16wKf6?ocid=BingHp01&cvid=98bc23149be24dd7aabe71d9d07418ea

BUT STRANGELY ENOUGH, still no name for them, nor even their skin color. The latter seems particularly curious, considering the race of the shooter is given so much emphasis in most other sensationalized accounts of shootings.

Gun Secured????

The story becomes more convoluted.

If a 6-year-old can get his hands on a gun - loaded no less - then any "secured" argument is preposterous. It follows then that the boy had the lock-picking ability of a seasoned criminal -- as if we can fathom that.

At the least, the parents could and should have kept the ammunition in a separate hiding place. There's no shooting when there are no bullets.

Other reports claim that the school where the shooting took place is still closed, 2 weeks after the event. So just think of all the lives this senseless act is impacting.

Recent developments

The schoolboard of Newport News has voted to terminate the contract of Schools superintendent Dr. George Parker III, effective February 1 (left in below photo)

And just yesterday Richneck Elementary school Assistant Principal Dr. Ebony Parker also resigned. No word if the two might be related? (Right in Below Photo)

Still no public identity of the shooter or his parents, which IMO, is really becoming the elephant in the room. What is being Protected"?

Nery interesting, and mysterious..maybe the 2 are married...

GentlemanJim

Wouldn't it be a hoot if the shooter was named "Parker"?

I'll admit that is a tremendous stretch, but if true it would explain the priority for silencing the shooter's parents ID

Updated details. I still find it mindboggling that the parents have not been formally charged with child endangerment (which would permit identifying who they are)

I also read at a different source that this kid was only in school as part of a "special ed" program designed to give a very rudimentary education to make them functional in society, as opposed to a more conventional academic program.

The kid likely would not have even been in school back in my school days, he would have attended a specialized training and development center offering curricula tailored for organically compromised individuals.

Edit, sorry for being such a bone head, I forgot to give the link for the "Updated dtails"

Whelp, the decision is out...confirmed the 6th grader will not be charged.

Curiously, they are still pondering if anyone can be charged for the crime.

Who Pays???

Well, the Teacher had filed a $40 million lawsuit, essentially blaming the school district.

The lawsuit names as defendants the Newport News School Board, former Superintendent George Parker III, former Richneck principal Briana Foster Newton and former Richneck assistant principal Ebony Parker.

Makes sense I suppose...go after the "deep pockets".

Disappointing that the parents were not included, if for no other reason than to put a face on the perpetrator. Just my suspicion but it has seemed throughout that someone is going to great lengths to obscure the shooter's parents. Forces one to ponder just who's needs are being served?
