This show was based on a play called "Nourish the Beast." The play was on PBS, on Theater in America or American Playhouse in the early 70s. The PBS play starred Eileen Brennan as a woman who would place ads to recruit new "family" members when someone died or left the house. Others in the cast included John Randolph and Will Lee (Mr. Hooper).
