What was the showrunner thinking by allowing Erin Moran to wear an '80s perm and makeup in a supposed period series? Joanie Loves Chachi was set circa 1964, so she should have had a big beehive or bouffant or something.

There was not much attentiveness in the way of adhering to styles of the era, be it hair or clothing, on the Marshall series' latter years.

Let's take a visual tour of Erin Moran's hairstyles as Joanie on Happy Days and JLC. As a fan of Erin, this topic is of special interest to me.

Prior to her HD role, she had appeared with her hair in ponytails on series like Daktari, Family Affair, and My Three Sons.

All of Happy Days had stylish 1970s hair after the first or second season. Chachi included. Potsy wore the typical longer hair that men wore in 1977 and 1978. That would have been ridiculous in the late 1950s early 1960s.
