Dude111 07-13-2022, 05:50 PM Yup the artifical colorised one looks like crap!!! (Even in analogue)
Hazel Anyday 07-13-2022, 07:55 PM Wow, the colorized one looks so much better than the "real" one. The colors look much more natural, the "real" one there is a definite blue tinge to the whole thing plus the skin color and Sam's lips are all purpley and blueish. The colorized one looks like a real natual color picture. If you prefer purple lips and blue/purple skin than the "real" one is for you.
The colorized DVDs of Season 1 and 2 are just beautiful and a vast improvement over the dull dated looking b/w originals. There is no contest these colorized versions are so much better it's a joke to pretend they're not. Now I want to see beautiful colorized versions of Hazel season 1.
stevea 07-14-2022, 11:11 AM Other than Endora's jacket and Sam's gloves, they got everything else wrong.

If they had done even a tiny bit of research they would have seen Elizabeth on the cover of TV Guide in color wearing that suit and hat.

Dude111 07-14-2022, 05:37 PM Other than Endora's jacket and Sam's gloves, they got everything else wrong. They dont care Stevie, thier main goal is to destroy shows :(
Hazel Anyday 07-14-2022, 08:50 PM They didn't get it "wrong" they improved it. These shows were shot in b/w and the background and even the furniture was often painted gray or light brown. Would you be happy if they colorized everything gray and light brown to match reality? Like I said, there's no comparison, the colorized version vs. the reality color the colorized wins hands down. It's not important to match reality exactly, what is important is that the new colorized version is even better than the ugly reality blue/purple colors. What destroys the shows is watching them in ugly b/w, where everything is gray and white and black (like the ugly looking colors of cars today). B/W destroys the enjoyment of a beautiful color picture. Life is in color so should all TV shows and movies.
Dude111 07-16-2022, 04:07 PM No I prefer them to leave it BLACK AND WHITE!!!!! (Looks much better)
nightcrawler 12-07-2022, 04:11 PM I like the Black and White also, they are so soothing to the eye.
GentlemanJim 12-07-2022, 05:11 PM I've seen some interesting artificial intelligence driven services on the web that offer to colorize old black and white photos that are pretty impressive.
We've got rivers here that are mud brown. And the service correctly colored the water brown, and even put patches of reflected blue sky in the right spots (partial reflection) just as it appears in real life.
I had soe photos of old sream locomotives that were black, but that had a faint build up of scale around the running gear (hard water) And the AI correctly detected the faint scale, and colored it the proper shade of beige, just like it should have been. quite impressive!
rusty spike 12-07-2022, 05:16 PM They had a train colorized "pink" from the opening scenes of the typical American couple. I figured that more mistakes were made throughout the season.
Dude111 12-07-2022, 08:15 PM Other than Endora's jacket and Sam's gloves, they got everything else wrong.Ah man!!
Hazel Anyday 12-07-2022, 09:07 PM Ever think you color haters just might be color blind. There's absolutely no question, not even up for debate, the colorized Bewitched beats the dull ugly artificial and aged looking b/w all to heck. How anyone can prefer Sam's hair being gray instead of a lusterous beautiful blonde or her lips as black as opposed to ruby red, well, I think you all need your keppy's examined.
Now I want to see Hazel season 1 colorized and all of I Love Lucy & all of the Honeymooners Classic 39. Any objections?? Overruled.
Dude111 12-08-2022, 03:20 PM The colourised one DOES NOT LOOK NATURAL...
Why would you wanna watch crap on a beautiful show??

stevea 12-08-2022, 04:52 PM The shots are slightly different--the small pictures are in both, but even the wall colors are totally wrong.
Of course, the good thing is that with most shows both versions are available, making everyone happy.

It's interesting that the non-colorized picture with Darrin didn't happen in the episode - he was never there with Samantha and Endora. Either it's a behind the scenes shot with York (possibly a publicity photo) or there was a different epilogue to the show where they did arrive Paris.
Another interesting bit about the episode is that Larry tells the operator to call Darrin's office number 555-6059. But a minute earlier Samantha called Darrin at the office and Elizabeth mostly dialed 1's and 2's on the prop phone.
MichaelKeith 02-07-2023, 11:25 AM Love Liz's hair like this the best. Perfect length and of course she looks great in that outfit. I like her hair shoulder length and no longer, no shorter. She was a stunner then.

Fascinating differences.
the truth 04-21-2023, 02:23 AM Colorized shows still basically suck. They don't get teeth right practically ever (they're usually not close to a natural teeth color of white or off white) and they have a hard time matching colors. When you watch a colorized Bewitched episode, notice what should be a military green colored front door or their phone - and it's actually a dark green they use for them. It's appalling that they didn't bother researching it enough to get it right. I'll take B&W over incorrect color any day. I have three or four copies of that 1964 TV Guide and upon seeing this colorized ep for the first time I was totally confused when I saw Liz. The outfit looked like the 1964 TV Guide cover but it's pink instead of the yellow it should be. Took me a while to realize they just got it all wrong. Sure hope they get it right one day while I'm still alive. If they can't, black and white is the way to go.
Kasey 09-22-2023, 01:17 PM The natural photo is reminiscent of how the Lucy Shows DVDs looked for Seasons 2 and 3. These seasons were filmed in color but telecast in BW from 1963-65. The makeup, clothes and sets had to be in muted shades so that they would still photograph well in B&W. Certain things like Lucy and Viv's eyeshadow and the throw cushions on their sofa just popped while the walls and some of the furniture looked very drab. The same thing is going on here. I have both sets of Bewitched DVDs for Seasons 1 and 2, but I always watch the BW versions and I find the colorization off-putting. It's miles better than the dreadful colorized first season of Gilligan's Island, but still looks off.

I'm noticing that the backgrounds look "fake" more often in the colorized versions.
Dude111 02-09-2024, 11:12 AM Yes because they arent real.........
Hazel Anyday 02-09-2024, 07:46 PM Oh yes. Gray faces and Sam's gray hair and black and gray sky and interiors now they look real.
The colorization on Bewitched was merely perfect. Now my only wish is that Hazel and Dennis The Menace and ALL b/w shows would be colorized.
MRPITT 02-10-2024, 01:37 PM Dennis The Menace and ALL b/w shows would be colorized.
I would love to see Dennis The Menace in color. That would be amazing.
I’m kinda in the middle. I prefer the shows to be colorized. I just don’t think they did a very good job with this one example.
just1paul 02-27-2024, 09:13 PM I happened to try watching Bewitched yesterday and today and I couldn't handle the colorization. The B & W should have stayed B & W. As I watched my brain kept telling me something was wrong. The same for I Dream of Jeannie a few weeks ago.
stevea 02-27-2024, 09:33 PM Something was definitely wrong with the first Bewitched episode today. The audio was several seconds different than the video.

That didn't help.
