First attempt at a CD and Nate fan fic, it's gonna suck, but oh well, here goes:


CD rolled over in bed and turned her lamp on. Her clock read 5:23, she rolled her eyes and tossed the covers off.
Sitting up, she signed and grinned slightly, it was a Friday which meant no work tomorrow unless they needed her.
Taking a quick shower and throwing some clothes on, CD headed out off to work. Nate and her were working a child abuse case, since she couldn't go back to sleep, she just decided to head to work and get a head start.
Parking her car in teh parking lot, CD got out and headed towards The Division. Her mind was so busy thinking about reasons and soloutions to her case, she didn't see what was headed for her.

Nate looked at his watch, he couldn't believe he was up this early and headed to work at 5:50 in the morning.
His radio on a low jazz station he yawned sleeply.
"Oh, great..NOW i'm tired," he mumbled pulling into the Division parking lot.
Nate looked ahead in the parking lot and suddenly slammed on his breaks. Looking ahead at a body laying in the middle of hte parking lot. It was rather big body, from what he could see. Short blonde hair, slacks, blazer.
Suddenly Nate's heart stopped, he knew that outfit, that body, that person. His legs felt wobbly yet strong at the same time as he climbed out of the car and ran towards the body.
Bending down he turned the body over.
"No, No, CD! CD, com on girl, wake up!," Nate said, his voice panic stricken. He looked down at CD and felt her pulse. "Thank-you God," he whispered, relieved to feel a pulse. "CD, come on, hang in there,"
Nate looked out in teh street at the people passing by. "Somebody get an ambulance!! Call 911, HELP!" he yelled.
Turning back to CD he cupped her face in his hands and took in her injuries.
She had a bruise on the left side of her forehead and cheek, and a cut lip, that's all he could tell.
"Hang on Cd, please hang on," Nate whispered, forcing the tears back.

Okay here's some more, im trying to think after the preview for next sunday's ep...man..... :

Nate tapped his fingers against his leg nervously, sitting in teh waiting room wasn't easy. He couldnt' believe what was going on, CD was his partner, this couldn't happen to her, she was so tough.
He had called Captian and told her what happened, then called Jinny, she was on her way.
"DeLorenzo," the doctor said, coming out into the waiting room.
"Yeah," Nate said, jumping up. "Is she okay, is CD okay, what happened?"
"She's going to be all right. She's awake. And as for what happened, I believe that's your job to figure out, it just looks like she took a couple blows to the head, her right is sprained. But she can go home, she said she wants to,"
"Can I see her?"
"Yes, go straight through the door, third room on your right,"
Nate nodded.

Opening teh door to CD's room, he saw her struggling to get her jacket on.
"Hey," he said quietly, closign the door behind him.
CD looked up at him, "Hi,"
"Let me help you with that," Nate said, taking the coat from her hands and slipping it over her shoulders.
"Thanks," CD said, fingering the edge of her bandage around he wrist.
"Hey, you okay?"
CD nodded.
Nate took a deep breath. "You wanna...tell me what happened?"
Tears clouded CD's eyes, but she shook them away, "I got mugged I guess,"
"CD, you were in teh middle of the parking lot out cold, a mugger would've killed you,"
"Nate all I remember is seeing someone come runnign at me, tackling m then hitting me hard with the end of his gun," CD yelled.
"Hey, hey, calm down. It's okay," Nate said. "Sit down," he took her by the arm and led her to the bed.
A tear slipped down her face, "I'm sorry,"
"Hey, it's okay," Nate said, putting an arm around her.

Nate turned around and saw Jinny come in. "Hey," he replied, standing.
"Hey, you okay?" Jinny asked CD, nodding at Nate.
CD rubbed her forehead, "I can tell ya I've been better,"
"You need me to do anything?"
CD shook her head, "Thanks anyways Jin,"
"Look, Captian called me on my way in...she said you are gong to need to come in, and at least say what you can so that we can try to catch this guy,"
CD sighed, "Now?"
Jinny's face showed her sympathy. "I understand what you are going through, But Captain, thinks you need to do this, but she says it's not an order,"
""I can take you in CD, have you in and out of there in a few minutes," Nate said.
"Look guys there is nothing to ask cause there is nothing for me to tell. I got mugged, no big deal, happens all of the time, don't worry about it," CD snapped.
Jinny looked at Nate, then back at CD.
CD come on," Nate said, stepping forward he put a hand on CD's shoulder.
CD pulled back. "Guys come on, leave me alone, okay," she stood and face them. "I can't....please there's nothing to tell,"
"CD if-"
CD lowered her voice, "Nothing," she said, before walking out of the room.

Jinny nodded.
"Well, wait, what do I do?" Nate asked.
"Uh...well..." Captain stuttered
"Okay now, Captain, I know I'm a guy, but CD is my partner and good friend. Somebody...somebody attacked an dpossibly threatened her adn you expect me to sit out and not worry about her...I seriously don't think so,"
Captain sighed. "Okay, you and Jinny got this, have Raina do anything you need to her to do,"
Jinny and Nate nodded and filed out the door.

CD sat curled up on her couch,wrapped in a bath robe, her hair wet, and holding a cup of coffee in hand.
She was still going through her mind what had happened earlier, when the telephone rang.
She jumped, her nerves on edge, she slowly picked up the phone, "Hello?"
"Hey sweets,"
"What do you want?"
"I think you know-"
"Listen to me, I'm not gonna say anything, just leave me alone okay,"
"Candace, Candace," he paused.
CD heard it to. Clicks.
"Is your phone tapped?" he asked.
"I...I..."
"You know who's gonna get hurt..."
"I swear to God if you hurt h-" CD stopped when all she heard was a dial tone. Slamming the phone down she breathed in deeply. The person she cared for the most, was in more trouble then her.

"Did we get an address?" Captain asked.
"We clicked in too late," Jinny said.
"But he seemed to know her, she seemed to know him. He said something about hurting somebody, then hung up," Nate said.
"I want people listening in 24-7, put a taop on her cell too. I Need undercovers watching her day and night," Captain ordered.
Nate and Jinny nodded.
"Basso," Nate said, walking out of Captains office, he answered his cell phone.
"What the heck do you think you're doing?"
"CD?"
"I told you to forget about this,"
"I can't do that, you-"
"Yes, yes you can,"
"But-"
"Take teh taps off and don't even thing about undercovers, I WILL BE FINE," CD said, emphaizing the her last few words.
Nate walked past his desk, and into one of the corners of the room, "I'm not doing it,"
"What?"
"No,"
"Nate please...I'm begging you,"
Nate's heart ached. He could tell CD was about to cry. Her voice sounded, scared, yet angry at the same time. He wanted to so bad to help her, but she wasn't allowing him to. "I'll pull the undercovers, and taps, as long as Jinny and I can watch 24-7,"
"Nate, you don't understand," CD said, her voice cracking.
"I dont' understand what you want me to understand," Nate caught Jinny's glance at him and waved her over.
"Nate, just stay away," CD said, then hung up.
"That CD?" Jinny asked.
Nate nodded, "She wants everything pulled. I said fine as long as me and you could watch her,"
"She said..?"
"She told me to stay away from her,"
Jinny let out a deep breath, "Whoever this person is, has gotten to her and has done a pretty good job of scaring the crap out of her,"
"Yea...and when I found who who he is....I'm not handing him in until i'm done with him,"

Tears sprung to CD's eyes as seh put the phone down. She couldnt' believe she had just yelled at Nate like that. But she only did it to keep him safe, she didn't want anything to happen to him. She also couldnt' believe that a man from her past, was here in her future to get at her.
She thought back to earlier today, when he walked up to her.
She remembere dhim holding her against the wall....

"Hello Candy," he said.
CD caught her breath, "What do you want?" she said through her teeth, trying to wrench her coat collar from his hands.
"You know the anser to that," he said with a grin.
"That was in highschool, Mark, get over it,"
"I could never,"
"We'll try,"
"You know, I've been watching your life-"
"You've what-"
"Your'e getting pretty chummy with your new partner, what's his name...Nate..oh know that's his nickname...Nathan Basso, yes that's it,"
CD's heart raced. "How the heck-"
"I've done my homework," Mark grinned.
"You know if you would've done that in school, you might actually be somewhere right now," CD said as a-mater-of-factly.
Mark back handed across the face, then righted her back up against the wall. "You get any closer to him and he's gonna be an inch away from death, well wait, he all ready is,"
"You leave Nate alone,"
"That's too late," he said.

That's all CD rememberd. He probably gave her a good hit across the face and that knocked her out. But until something was done about Mark, she would have to keep Nate at arms and arms and arms length.

Nate ran his hands through his hair, he didn't understand. Who was this person who was twisting CD's arm? Whoever it was, he didn't like it, and they were going to pay as soon as he found out who.
Looking at the desk infront of him, his heart felt heavy when it hit him CD wasn't there, with a grin or smart remakr.
His thoughts were interruted when Jinny tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hey you okay?" she asked, noticing the sad look on his face.
Nate shrugged his shoulders.
"Don't worry, we'll get this guy,"
"Oh, we will, we most definately will," Nate said, still looking longingly at CD's desk.

The next morning CD showered, dressed and headed to her car to go to work. She paused when she saw a car pull up.
Mark stepped out and headed towards CD.....

Mark grinned. "Distance, distance," Mark said stepping forward, he kissed CD on the cheek.
CD didn't pull away knowing if she did, Mark would do something to harm Nate. Clenching her fists, she restrained herself from not punching the life out of Mark. She could, but then he would take her out, then hurt Nate. And she wouldn't let that happen.
When Mark pulledback he spoke softly, his hand carresing her face, "I know everybody you do, and I know everything he does. I know he's in the car down the street...watching," he started walking away, "And so am I,"

Nate saw the kiss and the look of hatred on CD's face when it happened. Then he saw her look at him. They're eyes met for a second, then she hurridly got in her car and left.
Waiting a few minutes, he followed, knowing what was going to happen next.

Walking into The Division, Nate looked around, no CD. He sighed, he knew he shouldn't of staked out without the Captians go ahead, but he ahd to see who was doing this.
Sitting down at his desk, he looked down at his notes he had tken while watching. He got a good description of the man and the car he was driving. But he didn't know what to do with it. If he had had the Captains go ahead, then they could put a warrant out for him, but now if he told the Captain, he knew he would get pulled from the case.

"Look CD if somebody threatned you-"
"Captian. Please. If I tell you anything..this...person, he's gonna hurt somebody, somebody I care about and I dont' want that to happen," CD said calmly.
Captain leaned forward in her seat, "We are going to get this guy CD,"
CD nodded. "Just please...I can handle this. No taps, no surviellence, please,"
"I'll think about it," Captain said. "Get outta here,"

Nate was getting some coffee when CD stepped beside him. "What were you thinking?" she said sharply.
Nate set his coffee down, took CD by teh elbow and led her in the questioning room.

Shutting the door behind him, he let go of her arm. "What was I thinking?"
"Yes," CD walked to the other side of the table.
"CD, please, I wanna know, who is pulling your arm, who has scared the living crap out of you that you won't talk to me?"
CD crossed her arms over her stomach adn sighed.
"CD somebody has threatened you. Whoever that man was this morning, I know is the one doing it,"
"Theny why didn't you nab him then!?" CD yelled.
"Cause you told me to stay away!" Nate yelled back.
CD's eyes filled with tears. "Oh, Nate," she said quietly, almost a whisper. Turning around she walked over to the window.
Nate sighed and walked over to CD. "I'm sorry CD...I didn't know what do and after our conversation on the phone, I didn't know what you wanted me to do,"
CD listened.
"I just...I don't want you to get hurt, I don't know...I don't what I would do..."
CD turned around, "If you try to help, you are putting yourself at danger, I can't let you do that Nate,"
"I care more about you...being safe okay?" Nate said, putting a hand on her elbow.
CD looked at him as a tear slipped down her face.
Nate took a deep breath. "Did this guy hurt you CD?"
CD shook her head, "No..not yet," more tears slid down her face, as she put her head in her hands and started to cry.
Nate stepped forward slowly and brought CD into a warm embrace. "It's gonna be okay CD, I promise. He's not gonna hurt you,"
They stood there for about 5 minutes, Nate cradleing CD in hs arms, trying to tell her everything was going to be all right.
"Hey," Nate said, CD quieted now, he put his hand under her cin and lifted it so she would look at him. "I promise I'm gonna get this guy. And if he touches one hair on your head, he won't live to see the light of day,"
CD nodded slowly, "Will you...just be careful, please,"
"I promise,"
"Nate I-"
"CD, I'll be fine, all I'm worried about right now is you. Now come on, who is this guy?"

Nate took a quiet breath, his hands shaking slightly. He looked down at his gun in his hand adn swiched it to the other hand. Breathing in deeply he calmed his nerves adn wiped the beads of sweat off his forehead. In his mind we went over all of the info CD had told him.
Mark, apparently was an old boy-friend back in highschool, they went together, and then he was somewhat stoned one night and proposed to CD. She refused and he had been mad ever since. He stalked her a few times, broke a couple of windows in her house, before CD got a restraining order. He obeyed by it, until now. And he was back, he was still a user, and still had hopes of CD coming back to him. But now he was threatening her, by saying he would take he's (Nate's) life if they got closer. Which scared the crap out of CD. But now...now it was payback time. He had gone over the plan with Jinny several times, and he was still somewhat nervous about not letting Captain in on it, but he knew she would never approve. So him and Jinny just decided to handle it themselves.
Good thing Cd's closet is big, he thought, stretching his legs outinfront of him. He was hiding ou in CD's closet, waiting for their plan to be set in action.
CD had called Mark, asking him to come over so they could talk. He readily agreed, much to Nate's disguist.
Nate jumped when the doorbell disturbed his thoughts. Standing up, he gripped his gun, his back against the door.
He heard the door open.
"Mark,"
"CD,"
He heard the sound of an unwanted kiss give, he gripped his gun tighter, his anger rising...

Nate tensed, shifting from one foot to the other angerly, if they didn't all ready have a planned, he would've shot Mark point blank right there. He heard the door click shoot, he paused.
CD walked by the closet and stood by the window.
"What did you wanna talk about?" Mark asked, standing right infront of the closet.
"What if I did go with you, would you leave Nate alone?"
Mark shrugged his shoulders, "Maybe, depends on if he would leave us alone or not, but maybe it wouldn't matter,"
"No, you have to-"
"You will comply with me either way. i know your past, I know what happened to you,"
What?, Nate thought.
"All I have to do is tell Nate, and trust me, he will never love you,"
Tears sprung to CD'S eyes.
"Now back to where we were," Mark said, leaning in to kiss Cd.
CD turned away from the kiss.
Mark sighed and backhanded her across the face.
Nate heard his hand hit CD, his body filled with anger and hate for Mark, he crashed through the door, tackling Mark...

Hey to all who are reading this fan fic! I'm sorry I haven't posted, I will soon. I've just been busy, my little sister, whom my family is adopting, is coming home in a few days and we are preparing for her. I will hopefully post some more tonight! Later!

Loosing his gun in the process, he struggled hand to hand with Mark.
"I said if you ever touched her again..."
Mark brough his fist around and landed a jaw breaking punch at Nate's cheek, then a gut punch as Nate was taken of balance.
Nate came back quickly though, decking him with his elbow and punching his ribs.
Mark took the blows, as his eyes darted to his gun laying a few inches by his side. He grasped for it, accepting the punches. Gripping the gun tightly, he raised it up.
"NATE!!"
Nate heard CD yell his name, he pulled back then felt a piercing pain in his left shoulder. The pain spread down his arm, numbing his hand. He flew backwards, his arm burning like fire, and his heart pounding.
"Nate," CD knelt beside him.
Nate's eyes widened as teh pain intensfied. "I'm okay," he whispered, breathing heavily.
CD touched his face, "Oh, God, what have I done,"
Mark stood, his gun raised.
CD looked up at him. "Mark, no,"
"It's time to put this fool away,"

I'm sorry guys, I'm soo tired right now, it's almost one in the morning! I'll post more tomorrow......how do you like it??

DON'T LET NATE DIE! oh, and moooooooooooooooore, pleeeeaaaaase!

Three shots were fired, glass shattered. CD shieled Nate from anything headed at him.
She heard a thunk, looking over where Mark stood, she saw him lying on the ground. Three bullet holes rittleded his chest, his body lay still, he was dead.
CD peered up through the window and saw Jinny, sitting in a tree in her back yard.
Jinny's face was stone. "Are you okay?" she called out.
CD looked down at Nate. "Call for back up, I need an ambulance," CD yelled, "Nate, Nate are you okay?"
"Yeah," Nate sighed, "I'm okay,"
"Oh, God, Nate. i'm so sorry," she said looking down at his wound.
"I'm okay, really, I think...i think it went right through,"
"Oh, Nate," even before finishing her sentence, she leaned forward, his face in her hands and kissed him.
Nate eturned the kiss, his hands traveling up to her face, as they continued.
"911 Emergency! Where are you?" a voice shouted.
CD pulled back. "In here!" she called out.
A second later, three medics came in, two carrying a strecher, one carrying a bag.
"Step aside ma'am," one of them said.
CD stood, not taking her eyes off Nate. THey wrapped his arm in gauze wrap, picked him up and strapped him to the stretcher. Looking out the window she saw Jinny, still in the tree, grinning. Her leg swinging back and farth she shook her head.
CD sighed, then grinned.
"Ma'am, are you okay?" one of the medics said, noticing the blood stains on CD's hand and shirt.
"Yea," she mumbled.
"CD! Jinny!"
CD's eyes got wide. "But you might wanna stay just in case," she said to the medic. She didnt' see Jinny, but she was sure she had the same expression. "Captain," CD said, as Captain walked into the room.
"CD, what the-" she paused, and looked out the window, squinting. "Jinny?"she called out.
Jinny slowly smiled and waved, "Hiya Cap,"
Captain put her head in her hands and sighed. "What have you done now,"
"Captain, listen-"
"CD, NOT now,okay. Tomorrow my office, you , you and Nate,"
"Yes, Captain," CD said.

Hey everybody! I'm going to finish this story in...two more posts...cause i'm all ready writing another CD/Nate fan fic (i can't help it :) ) and I wanna get that one posted soon. But I'm finishing this one first, here's more.......

"What were you thinking?" Haysbert said, pacing the floor in front of the three inspectors. "You carried out a police procedure without any clearance from me or Kate. If something went wrong,all three of you could've ended up dead,"
"Well, something did go wrong, and we handled it," Nate said, "Nobody got hurt,"
Haysbert and Captain looked at him.
Nate looked down at his arm, which rested in a slong. He looed back at them, "Well..."
"Captian, suspension-"
"Now hold on," CD said, interrupting Haysbert. "These two saved my life, they saved a fellow officers life. They should NOT be condemed for it, they shuld be congratulated, and if NOTHING else rewarded,"
"You are out of line, Inspector De Lorenzo,"
"So are you," CD snapped back sharply.
Nate and Jinny smothered a smile that crept on to both of their faces.
Captain rolled her eyes "You guys get outta here," she waved them off.
"What, Kate?" Haysbert was baffled.
"Like you said Charles, they did carry out a police procedure, but they weren't careless, they had a plan. Now go, outta here,"
CD, Nate and Jinny saw the look on Haysbert face adn thought it best to get out while there was still time.
Once they were gone, Haysbert walked in front of Kate's desk, his hand folded behind him. "You just put your job on the line, by excusing them,"
"Oh well. My job, my life, I did what was right. You don't like it...I don't care," Captain said, shoving on her glasses.

Nate moved his left shoulder uncomfortably, in it's sling. An irrated look cam over his face as he adjusted the sling. When he found out that, that didn't help, he leaned back in his chair and ran his hand over his face and through his hair. He knew it wan't his arm, it was the kiss, the kiss he had shared with CD.

"Hey," Jinny said, as CD and her walked to the bathroom. "Thanks for sticking up for us back there,"
"No problem, you guys did save my life. I don't know where I would be now if you guys hadn't stepped in when you did,"
"I'm just glad you're okay, and I'm not out of a job," Jinny said with a grin.
CD smirked.
"So, um, I have a question,"
CD shook her head, she knew where this was leading.
Jinny luaghed. "What was that...um..kiss you gave Nate last night?"
"Oh, come on Jin,"
"No, no, you guys are partners, not a couple, if I'm not mistaken, what did I miss?"
CD shook her head.
Jinny looked at her. "You like him,"
"No, I don't. I dont' knwo what that kiss was. An impulsive-"
"No, it wasn't not. You like him, he likes you, I don't see what you guys problem is," Jinny said, as they reached the ladies room.
"He does not,"
"CD, if you had heard teh things he was telling me, you wouldn't think that. And who else...do you know would put his life in danger just to save yours...more then one time,"
CD looked at Jinny,"What has he said?"
Jinny gave a sly look, "Oh, I forget," she said pushing opening the bathroom door.
CD paused as if something had hit her. Turning around she headed back to her desk.
Jinny leaned against the doorway, "Golly I'm good," she grinned.

Okay, last part...

Nate felt a tap on his shoulder, he looked up, his eyes locking with CD's.
"Can we talk?"
"Sure," Nate said, standing up, he followed CD into the questioning room. Shutting the door behind him, he turned around, "What's up?"
"Um...I just wanted to say thanks for...all you did," CD said,crossing her arms across her stomach.
"Ahhh....well..you're welcome," Nate said, taking a step towards CD.
CD nodded, "Well just wanted to get that said," CD said, heading for teh door.
Nate stepped in her path, "Hey um....I just want to say...I meant everything i said and did, at your house...and in this room,"
CD's heart pounded so loud she was sure it echoed through the room. Her face was just inches from Nate's, she didn't move. "Really?" she managed to say.
"Yea," Nate said in a whisper.
CD looked up at him.
"Candace De Lorenzo," Nate said reaching up and pushing away a few strands of hair out of CD's eyes. "Would you like to go on a date with me?"
"Nate," CD's throat closed up, she took a step back, "We are partners, we can't date,"
Nate took a step towards her, "We kissed,"
"That was an impulsive...glad you're okay...kiss," CD stammered.
"Then why dont' we try again," he said, bending down, he slowly placed a sweet long kiss on CD's lips. He pulled back. "And the answer is..."
CD smilled, "Yes," she said putting her hand behind Nate's and bringing him back to her, returning his kiss.
