View Full Version : George Dancing on the Bed?
Janice 07-29-2002, 11:29 AM In one of the show's openers, George is in his pajamas dancing like crazy on the bed as Louise looks on.
I've seen most episodes, but not this one. Does anyone know why George was dancing on the bed? Was he happy or mad?
Thanks. :)

ENJ:read:Y Y:eyes:UR SUMMER!!!
boechsner 07-31-2002, 05:00 AM That scene is from an episode from the 2nd season. Which one, is a mystery. TV Land and Nick at Nite could have easily edited that scene out. However, there is one episode from the 2nd Season, called George vs. Wall Street, that I haven't seen and N&N and TV Land have never aired it. So it may be from that episode.
lil_weezy 07-31-2002, 03:23 PM The reason George was jumping on the bed is because he bought a lot of beans. He is hoping for a big drought in Illinois so he can make a big profit.
Janice 08-01-2002, 11:39 PM Thanks guys, for solving this mystery for me. :)

Thanks. :) You know, to this day, I've never seen that episode where that scene took place, and I've watched this show since it began in 1975 (I was 4 that year).
Wildchats 01-07-2003, 01:51 AM Yeah, when the Jeffersons came on NAN and my mom watched it with me, she saw George jumping on the bed and remembered what he was doing.
She said he had bought some stock in something. I dont know if it was beans, fruit trees, or wahtever it was....
anyways, he is saying "It's raining weezy! it's raining in....(I dont know the city)
I am guessing it's something like Orea
"It's raining weezy, it's raining in orea!"
Then she smacks him with that pillow I am assuming because he is so annoying and she wants him to go to bed because she wants to sleep as well.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 01-08-2003, 03:09 AM I remember seeing this episode on N@N, but I forget why!! Im guessing because of the stock- which is what all of you said. But, I do remember seeing that episode.

Well, if it did, it must have only been once, because that episode did not air on Nick at Nite or TV Land from 2000-2002. The Jeffersons came to Nick in January 1999. But I just can't believe I missed it, if it did air. I doubt that it ever aired, because rotation after rotation, Nick always skipped the same episodes:
George vs. Wall Street
Appointment in 8-B
The Strays (Part 1)
The Strays (Part 2)
Father's Day
AITF & ABP ROCK!! 01-12-2003, 02:42 PM Why did N@N and TV LAND always skip over George Vs. Wall Street, there must have been something in that episode that the people at TV LAND and N@N didn't like.
boechsner 01-12-2003, 07:43 PM We may soon learn why, when that episode is released with the rest of the episodes of the second season on DVD sometime this year.

I just watched Season 2 - loved that scene.
Schmoopie 10-02-2009, 03:49 AM I never knew that's why he was jumping up and down. Thanks, Monika for reviving this thread!

My pleasure. :D
McGillicuddy 10-02-2009, 04:52 PM I was just about to ask if this episode (scene) was on the dvd release, then I realized this was an old thred. Glad to know its not cut.
catlover79 10-02-2009, 09:59 PM I think the title of this ep was indeed George vs. Wall Street. I know for sure that scene is in Season 2 but I took the DVDs back to the library. Sol, can you confirm this??
TV_on_the_Porch 10-02-2009, 11:09 PM I only saw this scene once--during the time CBS was showing weekday reruns. George gets a telephone call in the middle of the night about some good news, hangs up and starts dancing on the bed. In the clip used in several seasons' opening credits you can tell George exclaims "We're Rich!" to which Louise responds something like "But we're already rich". That's about all I can add.
catlover79 10-02-2009, 11:17 PM ^ Yeah, that's basically the gist of the scene.

Yes that is the episode, that was a episode that aired in December of 75 during season 2 called George vs Wall Street and was upstairs in the Willises apt in his pajamas-lol
comedyfreak 10-03-2009, 03:47 AM One of the great things about the show was the opening theme with clips from the show. My family use to laugh at George dancing on the bed, along with him walking up to Louise who was under the dryer when he knocked on it and scared her. My Dad really cracked up over that one.

I agree!! Both of those clips you mentioned were hilarious, plus Weezy pummeling George with the pillow.
BigManMike 10-05-2009, 01:06 PM It was good one. It was so popular it appeared in the opening credits of Seasons 3-9.

It was indeed a great scene. Sherman Hemsley was so great as physical comedy.
