Does anyone play any musical instruments?

I used to play the violin from 3rd-5th grade in my school band. But I hated it soo much. At first I liked it then, it was just annoying. So, after 5th I quit. I still have my violin under my desk. But I want to learn how to play the guitar.

I used to play violin..I hate it... but I'm going to give it another try in the fall.

I used to play clarinet...couldn't stand that after a while, so I gave it up...

Yay, a fellow Flute player! :D

I play the piccolo too, but I don't own one yet... I'll buy one when I'm better at it. I'm used to the large size of the flute. I, for some reason, cannot grasp the size of the piccolo. And what's the difference between a regular flute and an alto flute?

I love piccolo. It takes a little while to get good at though- the first few months i had one it sounded like something dying whenever i hit the higher notes...

An alto flute is lower than a regular flute (duh) and in G. Its really pretty sounding.
theres a good diagram of one here:

Oooo, that's interesting...my band teacher plays that. So obviously the fingerings aren't the same as regular flute, right?

I play flute, piano, a little organ...I almost played coronet once...but..we won't go there..."It sounds like somebody's dying!"

but, I don't get to play flute until concert band season, which won't be until like march!!! Cause I had to go and try out for freaking drum major!! So now I'm drum major and I don't get to play! Which stinks cause we're marching with piccolos this year instead of flutes!

I played the Clarinet for two years in the band. I always got stuck being 1st clarinet and had all of the higher notes. Those are a pain to play. I can play a little bit on the piano & drums, but not much. And now I'm learning the guitar. I love my guitar more than anyother instrument I've tried.

no. that's ok. some of my friends are in band. what you just said reminded me of our homecoming football game where the guy who was playing this big drum thingy (obviosuly I don't know the name) put it down and was taking the straps off, and he tripped over and fell. it was funny.

I play bass guitar. I haven't even picked it up in over 4 months though. I've kinda lost the will to play it. I've lost the will to do anything other than watch TV.

I used to play a bit of piano, now I play my guitar and drums. I'm the best at the drums out of all of the thing I've played/play.

Actually the fingerings are basicly the same as on a regular flute. The key layout is slightly different though as you can see in that diagram with the...the.,...well it has a name but ive always called it the A flat foot (you know what i mean, the place you put your left pinky!) is in a different place.

That's what happened to me too. I always had to hit EVERY high note and I was getting so sick of it, I started sqeaking on purpose so I could convince my mom to let me take Flute. And even know I'm first in Flute, the higher notes are SO much easier to play

LOL yeah I've always called it the A flat-G sharpie-thingy. Anyways maybe in a few years when I get my piccolo I'll look into the Alto Flute...there isn't a Bass Flute, is there?

Yup, there is a Bass Flute! Ive never heard one play by itself but they have them in "flute choirs" if you ever see one of those.
Its a lot bigger than a normal or even an alto, but the fingerings are still the same.

In 6th grade the class right next to ours learned how to play those..so like all day we'd hear music lol it was funny but really annoying.

Anyway. The only instrument I've ever played is the piano, but I really didn't like it and I stunk majorly so I quit. Well...actually I didn't quit. My piano teacher moved to Fresno. But I never took it again and I'm glad... cuz I just wasn't having any fun. My teacher was really nice though, lol.

Oh, that's not bad! We were out for marching pratice one day, and I tripped up the step and nearly fell on my face. (Good thing I wasn't playing percussion that day.) Anyway, this one boy, Chad, was playing percussion. He tripped up the step too and fell right on top of his snare drum. He had to get 6 stitches in the jaw area of his face. I didn't actually SEE it, thank God, but I saw his stitches a few days later. Ouch!

Marching band fatalities are actually higher than you would think.
