well..my summer house is just north of the middle of nowhere....

If you leave your keys in your car and the next day....or week... your car is still there.

If you can pay for six big macs with a personal check.

If people drive 100 miles to shop in a real mall.

If you think you're in a traffic jam when you're in the second car at the light.

If you don't use your blinker because everyone already knows where you're going.

If you and your friend across town complain about a skunk smell from a roadkill...and it's the same skunk.

If every time you get married, you still have the same in-laws

Well, You guys just described my town completely. That's exactly how it is here! My town has only 2,800 people, so it's very small.
I have to drive to Charleston (100 miles away) to get to a good mall!

Everyone here is related..I go in the grocery store & see like my whole family! I don't have the same last name as everybody else tho. heh, heh

People stop their vehicles in the middle of the streets to talk.

Everyone knows everything about everybody else.

Who else lives in small town USA?

Mine too. Kinda. A mile and a 1/2 to the ice cream place and 4 miles into a down-town that consists of 8 stores/shops.

You know you live in a small town when the entire town is up for sale. That happened in the town that I lived in for most of my life. I moved away before they sold it. Actually, I don't know if they ever did sell it. If they did it doesn't look any different than it did before as far as I can tell from the 8 seconds it takes to drive through it like I do once in a while on my way to someplace else.

Although I wouldn't call NYC too big, cause, well, you can get almost anywhere by trains, etc, and such

... but if I were forced to walk, that's another story. ;)

Well, it's safe to say all of those apply to my town.

---Instead of entering the city limit of your town you enter the town limit instead.

---You know all the cops by name.

---Everyone can tell you story of when your parents were kids

---It takes about two minutes to drive through town, and that's at 10mph

The state is big, but there are ALOT of small towns in Texas. I happen to live in a small town. Not as small as SOME of them, but it is small none the less.

you know you live in a small town when the big entertainment spot is a run down cineplex which breaks half the films it shows, has it's disco in the lobby and shows Jingle all the way and Casper in the Summer (that happens in our town)

You're lucky to have a theater! My hometown has a population of 1,500. Talk about small; I had 23 kids in my 8th grade class and we were the biggest class in the school. The next town over had two kids in their 8th grade class. Imagine that!

...you're at one of the local motels and you dial 9 to get an outside line, but instead get someone's home.
"Hello?"
"Uh, who is this?!"
"Elmer Dinkly. You just called my house!"
"Your phone number is 9???"
"Yup! My cousin's is 32, he had to write that one down!"

(Alas, I did not think this up. It's by some comedian, I forget his name.)

oooh ooh ooh I got one
you know you live in a small town WHEN: all the guys you grew up with live a few blocks away from you and You cant date any of them because they knew you when you were in diapers
OR
You have to take a bus (or in Portlands case lightrail) to the big city over JUST TO HAVE FUN
OR
the only theater in the town was around in the early 80s and late 70s and probably plays the same movies as it did back then
okay DONE now

I live in a small town,it has it's fair shair of everday problems
but there's a good thing about living in a small town,People who
live in small towns don't hear gun shots out their house windows
at night or sirens screaming that much,so you can see living
in a small town is not really all that bad.:D

You know you're in a small town when you're a check-out girl at the local grocery store & you get to know everyone & they get to know you. I'll be out in public & people wave & talk to me and tell me their problems and I'm thinking..Who are you? It's funny!

My town is sooo small and I think there's 2,000 people. The only stores we have are Foodland, Dollar GEneral, & Rite Aid.

John Cougar Mellencamp sings,it's a fair description about
what living small town is like.,And if anyone knows the lyrics
