KFC's new menu item tastes like chicken (but isn't)

Kentucky Fried Chicken is going to sell a new menu item that contains no chicken — but tastes like it does.

The new plant-based fried chicken nugget alternative, called Beyond Fried Chicken, will be added to menus nationwide beginning Monday, Jan. 10 for a limited time.

It seems that this year will be a banner year in food especially in fast food restaurants. Because ever since Burger King launched the Impossible Whopper last year other fast food chains decided to copy Burger King's success and develop their own healthy foods. I think with this new Beyond Fried Chicken KFC is hoping to attract a bigger audience and since a lot of people are obsessed with new food trends and if this Beyond Fried Chicken sells KFC might just develop Beyond Fried Chicken Strips in the future and I think this is how fast food restaurants are gonna be now as time goes by

No chicken, no thanks. KFC is not a big choice anyway.

Reminds me of the man made chicken scene in Eraserhead.

D'ya think someone could invent non-chicken chicken strips that taste like fried chicken strips, but don't have that un-chewable string of cartilage that invariably spoils one out of three? I'd be all over it with some potato wedges and gravy!

Did they ever actually have chicken?

The running joke was always KFR.

KFR -- what does R stand for.

When KFC first hit my town maybe 30 yrs ago, it was very tasty, full of sodium and tons of breading, how much chicken I don't know. But I didn't order it too often.

I like KFC, and will likely try the soyl--, er, chickenless "chicken" at some point.

Ha! I did not remember that.

Well, as long as it's not revealed in the next eleven months that we've been eating people, we will have avoided the dire predictions of this film. That's saying something, right?

Do they deserve partial credit once we are collecting bodies in the streets with a front-end loader?

I think any front-end loading of bodies in the streets will be a qualifier, and at least one of the movie's dire predictions will have come to pass. Also, any police wearing football helmets and any muttonchop-style sideburns coming back into fashion. Yes, we've hit the 'beard' stage, but muttonchops? Not just yet.

I tried the beyond chicken combo and was very disappointed. It was overcooked and was like chewing rubber. Their fries are nothing to write home about either. Why they replaced the potato wedges is beyond me. I went back a few days later and ordered the pot pie and popcorn chicken and while waiting at the window I told the manager about the beyond chicken. She was very nice about it and offered to fix a fresh order for me. These were much better and I would definitely get them again if cooked fresh.

The last time we had KFC it was disappointing, and I don't think that we'll be getting it again.

Beyond meat products are beyond dumb. I liked KFC more when I was younger because of their buffet. But now I really prefer Lee's Famous Recipe, their boneless fried chicken strips are the best.

Man, I used to REALLY enjoy going to the KFC buffet, and eating only the skinless grilled breasts.

I'd get a few sides, but the grilled breasts were the only chicken I'd eat. When they dropped the grilled breasts, I quit going.

Popeyes is my preferred chicken now days

Here's a pic of KFC's potato wedges revisited and wedges from a local mom & pop restaurant. Care to guess which is which?
