There may be a discussion about this buried in the threads already, so I apologize if this is redundant.
I've seen every episode of Frasier over the years, but something still bothers me and I wonder if I missed something. How did it come to be that a live-in physical therapist does the washing, ironing, cooking and cleaning? And how is it that she refers to Frasier as her "boss" which I heard in an episode recently? She acts and is treated as an employee - "Daphne, get the door" - but if she was a PT, Marty would be her client, not her boss.
When she and Niles get together, they talk about how she won't be "working for" Frasier and Martin anymore, meaning she won't be doing housework for them.
While a live-in health care worker might do some cooking or cleaning for a disabled client, she wouldn't be treated as the maid and cook to the entire family the way Daphne is.
