View Full Version : Damm Archie had a flat screen in the bar way back in 1977??? TVFactFan 08-29-2020, 05:36 PM WOW:eek::eek: SuperBowl Sunday episode Heenan Fan 08-29-2020, 06:58 PM I think it was a rental for Super Bowl XII. Back then you could rent big screen TVs for cheap. It might of belonged to Archie though. It's been about 5 years since I've seen the episode. TVFactFan 08-29-2020, 07:09 PM I think it was a rental for Super Bowl XII. I didnt think TV's like that existed in 1977 snowpeck 09-02-2020, 08:21 PM It was a rental and it was essentially just a projector and a giant screen. It wasn't even rear projection. In the shot where they're all singing the national anthem, you can see the actual projector sitting on the floor. It looked Big Time for 1977 Babalu 09-03-2020, 06:48 PM It was a front projection RBG projector that projected onto a curved screen. The quality was horrible, worse than the contemporary color TV of the day. Bars rented them for special events to bring in crowds advertising them as 'Big Screen TV's'. Babalu 09-11-2020, 06:39 AM Wasnt that consider a special thing in 1977? Special enough that few people had them in their homes but it was a big draw in bars and casinos. Most people are not interested in watching after a big event like that. OH Nuts! 10-03-2020, 08:40 AM Im surprised a new episode aired AFTER the SB. Maybe the SB wasnt like it was now hifijohn 08-04-2021, 04:20 AM Not really a flat panel but a projection tv, the screen was like a movie screen and it was insanely expensive. the pix quality wasnt very good and the room had to be dark to see it properly. I dont think I ever seen anything like that on a TV show from that area. BestTVever 08-06-2021, 03:27 PM Its not a flat screen TV. It was a jumbotron TV which were popular in the late 70s even into the late 80s in bars and nightclubs. The screen is just a screen. The image from the TV is projected on to the screen. Just like a giant movie projector but for TVs |
